FINALLY!!!! BOSS did it right and released a unit that is better suited for gigging and has all the features that make sense and none that don’t. The GT-1000 was just too complicated and not practical for many players. Most importantly, the amp sounds finally sound GOOD and no longer have that BOSS “digital artifact” that just never sounded right to my ear, especially going direct. I have stayed away from the BOSS multi-effects units as a result, but this one will make its way to my board soon!! Way to go, BOSS!!! 🤘🤘
Making a tap switch for tuner and hold for manual/preset, instead of the other way around is just a huge miss if you ask me. Would be good if that could be changed somehow in settings tho
Ok, i downloaded the manual, since i couldn't find an answer to this quiestion, and it seems you can change it so that memory/manual is switched with one press.
Since Nux and the other brands were catching up to Line 6 and Boss, it seems Boss stepped up with something to put them back at or near the top (where they usually reside). Great unit!
Probably a price point issue. This is, looks to me, a stripped down GT-1000. Same as the Pod Go is a stripped down Helix. They have to cut some features/functions out.
If it's made for the stage why don't people demo it going thru FRFR's or a P.A. so we can hear how it sounds the way many of us our going to try to use it.
It is made for stage as is a lot of these multi-effects units. It still needs an amp to perform onstage as do all of them. As he said you can run it straight into the board. He ran it straight into his camera because this is a video demonstration of the unit, not a demo of how to utilize it on stage.
I still prefer the Valeton GP-200 for the better connections, price, and more up-to-date, modern interface. The softweare is also a plus point in favor of the Valeton GP-200. But Boss is not entirely disposable.
I’ve been chasing a good multi for years. Going back to the GT8, Zoom G7 and later Helix LT and POD. The sounds are better now. The biggest challenge I always encounter is the user interface. Can I quickly change parameters like gain, delay level, reverb time, etc.
Roland/Boss have definitely figured out how to keep selling us the same product over and over again. The old GT-3 comes in a sleeker package every few years.
Nowadays, for live performances, owning an amp is just so unnecesary... I saw a video of Nita Strauss playing live with Alice Cooper with just a GT1000 Straight to the PA. Tech is killing it
She uses it as a standalone unit for smaller gigs and maybe for some other gigs when doing things under her name but she was using the Marshall JVM410HJS (The Satriani signature Marshall) amp with Alice Cooper and I think that she uses the GT 1000 for effects with that amp for the Alice gig. It's a great amp. I have one here. It's actually the last new amp release to have Jim Marshall's signature put on it. It also obviously has Satriani's name on it. Any amp that was released before the JVM410HJS that is still in production still has Jim's signature on it and I assume that any reissue would, but it is my understanding that since Jim Marshall's passing, no new amp release will bear his signature. The Jim Marshall era stands iconic. There is an interview somewhere around here with former Marshall engineer and I think CEO Santiago Alvarez where he talks about that being the last production amp to bear Jim's signature. .
I'm looking at this for effects only. I used a Helix live for a year and went back to a real amp. There's no comparison. The helix souned okay but for feel and dynamics you can't beat a cranked Dr Z. Some of my friends use modelers and they sound good when i go see their bands, but when i see a really great guitar player like the other night (Brandon Taz Neiderauer) playing through a cranked Fender Twin you just can't argue which is better. So I'm gonna respectfully disagree. We still need an amp on stage.
hey mitch , tell the guys at boss to disassociate the touch screen from the unit and provide for a link cable to the unit so it can be positioned on a stand or on a bracket on the mic stand. that way it brings the controller to the artist as he is playing. with the facilities feature set on the floor where it belongs. i had a pair of digitech rp2000 pedals and removed the display system with control and brought the entire control surface to a separate housing connected to the pedalboard via a multi pin cable and connector system. and it saved my damaged knees many years of wear. in fact a plastic slind and a hidden connector can be mated when you don't need the separate systems. just provide the cable as a separate item. another quick money boost
I have this strange minor but weird issue with this multieffector. Sometimes, when I play notes there will be this buzzing sound. Kind of static sound. However, when I change the sound to a different channel or preset, it returns back to normal. This sequence happens about 1/50 times. It is bothering to having to expect this sound to happen again.
Mitch you have good ears indeed. This demo sound just about killer, great setting from you team I guess. Unlike other demos that somehow make the GX 100 sound rather 'sterile' and lifeless.
Hi, thanks for your interest! Although there’s no analog aux input on the GX-100, there are a few ways to do what you describe. If you’re using a computer, the simplest option would be to connect the GX-100 to the computer via USB and install the Boss USB driver. This enables sending audio back and forth between the computer and the pedal, so you could play backing tracks from the computer and hear them in your headphones - you can also record your performance to the computer this way. One other option would be to add Boss’s BT-Dual Bluetooth adapter - this way, you could stream music from a Bluetooth device (such as a smartphone) and hear it through your headphones: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BTDual--boss-bt-dual-bluetooth-audio-midi-dual-adapter Yet another solution would be to use a small mixer. You could have both the pedal and your phone connected to the mixer, and you’d hear the combined signal through the mixer’s headphone output. The Mackie Mix5 is a good affordable choice for this approach: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Mix5--mackie-mix5-5-channel-compact-mixer Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions! When you say, non fixed chain, am I to understand that there is no need to be concerned about what effect goes into say the front of an amp and what effects would go into the effects loop? The device determines that? Thanks! Garry
Hi, funnyharleyman! Thanks for your message, hope you’re well and safe. A “fixed” chain means the effect order cannot be changed nor can other algorithms be added. The GX-100 allows the user to move effects to anywhere in the signal chain, regardless of any external connection to an amp or monitoring system. This allows for many more creative and versatile sounds to be programmed. Your amp and its effects loop are not part of how the processing work, though they can be routed in via the send and return jacks using a four or five cable method. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Robert Williams, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 2371, robert_williams@sweetwater.com
Been using GT1. Then ME 80 ...Now really eyeing this. I love these Boss multis. Oh man. Great I was awaiting your next platform of multi effects. I assume these have some of the reverb algorithm from the killer RV series. Or like.
Hello. Sounds AMAZING...BUT.....where is the sound coming out of?! As potential consumers..we NEED to know these things otherwise we get home and can't replicate the quality of these sounds!
I really like what I see & hear. I am interested in what type of amp is being used. My personal findings, are to get the real & best sound of a multi effects unit (Many of the independent pedals) is not by running through an true (All sounds-one speaker) power source. I think I have one of the best amps on the market. I use the Mesa Boogie TC 50 watt head & 2X 12 Vertical mesa cabinet. I thought this was the best way to test & get the best accuracy. I think I was wrong. I feel by running devices through a "Tower P.A.-like the Bose systems, whereas the high end speakers are seperated from the sub= the truest & best results. I am going to buy one & make my decision there. I do not think Mitch is running this through a full range speaker(s).
Always love Mitch's demos. Looks like a decent price and Boss's great tones. Glad they finally updated the UI. Two questions: Are the outputs balanced? and Why are they not using USB-C connectors? Edit: Boss has had the different guitar input thing for a long time, just not 10 slots of them.
Hi, Scott! Thanks for the interest. This is a brand new product so I had to get in touch with my contacts at Roland to get you an answer, and I just heard back. The output jacks on the GX-100 are not balanced. With regard to the USB connection, USB type B is still the most common connection type for firmware updates and editor communication on guitar processors. I don't know when/if they will be making the switch to USB-C, but my Roland rep assures me that they find the USB-B connections to be highly reliable for their purposes. Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com

Do you know how to copy and paste presettings? That way I can rearrange the already existing presettings to create my own personal banks. For instance, taking the surf rock 12-1 from bank 12 and match it with the Studio Blues 1-3 from bank 1 to create my own personal bank with those two settings from different banks. Just in the same bank.

It does have a looper 19 secs stereo or 38 secs mono. The problem I have with having owned both versions of the gt1000 is there’s only record play overdub and stop, no undo function.
Hi, Dennis. The output selection does have the option to match with a Katana, which would work the same as a solid state amp. Thanks for your interest! Charlie Davis, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1320, charlie_davis@sweetwater.com
Hi, the Title says "Made for the Stage." No xlr outputs. Are the 1/4 inch outs balanced? Or is a di-box needed to send the signal to FOH? A good stereo active di-box is another huge expense. Or will a 1/4 inch to xlr cable work when connected to a snake/mixer?
Hi, cgcarreno! Thanks for your message. The outs are not TRS balanced, so yes a DI box is the best way to get a solid signal to FOH. It doesn’t have to be active unless the cable run is exceptionally long. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Nice looking product. I was a Gt1000 owner and from that perspective I cannot see the reason for this product. The gt1000 is still thier fragship. So what is the point of this?
Hi, The Lowmein. The GX100 works great with headphones. One of the best things about this type of product is that you can get the sound of a full rig into headphones for silent playing at any time. I wouldn’t expect the headphone amp to be super powerful so I would look at lower impedance headphone options. The Shure SRH440 or Sennheiser HD280 would both be great options. Thank you for the demo Mitch and Sweetwater. I've been looking at the BOSS 200 pedal series as a way to standardize my recording/live setup. Specifically I've been thinking of getting some of the following: IR-200 EQ-200 OD-200 MM-200 DD-200 SY-200 .. along with a tuner and a reverb unit. How much can the GX-100 cover this group of pedals?
You can Switch 5 - 6 effects and various values within the effects with one click, Looper, 2-3 reverbs in a row or delays, or cascade of overdrives, Echo swells Like Gilmore, Run 2 valve amps and front of the House parallel and much more, guess with many Pedal you can do this 2 but would need a good effects pedal panel Controller...i love it from theory...my questions does it sound better than podgo or FM3?
Hey, David! You can set the expression pedal to control different parameters for any of the available effects. You can set it to control the pitch shifter for a Tom Morello like effect if you want! Hi, Dunamis Studio. The two units are cut from the same cloth but the GT1000 does offer better sound and more features. It has a larger screen, more input and output options, has more sounds to choose from, and it has higher resolution conversion to keep the sound quality as high as possible. Both are great units and the GX100 is pretty incredible for the money but there is a reason why the GT1000 costs what it costs. Thanks for your interest! Hi, mykkool! Thanks for your message, hope you’re well. Both are line level. Technically, +4 is handles louder signals with more headroom and -10 is a standard consumer level. there was always an heaphone jack, not sure if gt 1 had it, but my gt 10 has one,
I agree along with an auxiliary in
@@orenji13gt1 also has a headphone jack
Good pedalboard.😗
Comprehensive review in fairness
Unbelievable! What these processors are able to do, you can own one of these things and still after 10 years still learn something new about it...
That’s the truth!
I'm still learning things about my Boss GT-8! LOL
For those that don't know Mitch is a "Switch Hitter" Left or Right... That gets huge respect from me.
Noise 's sweet of sounds, plays by leaders. Guitars. Flanger, tubesceamer, overdrive, .....rocks and rolls....
Great video awesome 👍🤙
Great explain 👍👍👍
Awesome looking unit.. killer upgrades. I have the gt1 that's absolutely incredible for around $250..
Since Nux and the other brands were catching up to Line 6 and Boss, it seems Boss stepped up with something to put them back at or near the top (where they usually reside). Great unit!
No XLR outs… why?
So much potential but Boss manages to exclude this one for almost all of their multi effects pedals.
will the quarter inch output work? do you need to add a direct box? You think it would have the other xlr out too? weird...
Probably a price point issue. This is, looks to me, a stripped down GT-1000. Same as the Pod Go is a stripped down Helix. They have to cut some features/functions out.
This is a stripped down gt 1000
Let me guess everybody loves it except the distortion tones. ..lol I like Boss gonna give this a try. Thanks Mitch.
My first boss guitar pedal GT-1000 just arrived today and here is GX-100
After I've spent all money 😭😭😢😭😭
Boss is keeping it real, the tone and design
Gt-1000 is still great though...
Is it too late to return it and then buy this one instead?
I wouldn't trade my GT1000 for this one trust me your going to love it
@@Pen_412 How good the GT 1000 compared to lets say the big boys Fm3 fractal, or even th e Helix and the Quad Cortex??
That happened to me on more than one occasion...
I like the huge Fonts, for things that should be.
Wow this thing can run Doom no doubt
do a bass demo please
Roland/Boss have definitely figured out how to keep selling us the same product over and over again. The old GT-3 comes in a sleeker package every few years.
thats what i was thinking
Compare the gt 3 features and what us out now is a spacestation compared to the gt3
Very good.
Nowadays, for live performances, owning an amp is just so unnecesary... I saw a video of Nita Strauss playing live with Alice Cooper with just a GT1000 Straight to the PA. Tech is killing it
Tech could be redundant soon !
it will never replace an amp
That’s true, but Alice made her upgrade to a real amp.
Hoping we see a GX-1000 Core or something of the sort.
hey mitch , tell the guys at boss to disassociate the touch screen from the unit and provide for a link cable to the unit so it can be positioned on a stand or on a bracket on the mic stand. that way it brings the controller to the artist as he is playing. with the facilities feature set on the floor where it belongs. i had a pair of digitech rp2000 pedals and removed the display system with control and brought the entire control surface to a separate housing connected to the pedalboard via a multi pin cable and connector system. and it saved my damaged knees many years of wear. in fact a plastic slind and a hidden connector can be mated when you don't need the separate systems. just provide the cable as a separate item. another quick money boost
I have this strange minor but weird issue with this multieffector. Sometimes, when I play notes there will be this buzzing sound. Kind of static sound. However, when I change the sound to a different channel or preset, it returns back to normal. This sequence happens about 1/50 times. It is bothering to having to expect this sound to happen again.
that's digital gtr
What amplifier and/or speaker is the gx100 ouput connected to on this video? Or is it connected directly to recording unit?
Mitch you have good ears indeed. This demo sound just about killer, great setting from you team I guess. Unlike other demos that somehow make the GX 100 sound rather 'sterile' and lifeless.
When using headphones - is there any easy way to input music from a phone or computer to play along with - instead of wearing 2 sets of headphones?
Hi, thanks for your interest! Although there’s no analog aux input on the GX-100, there are a few ways to do what you describe. If you’re using a computer, the simplest option would be to connect the GX-100 to the computer via USB and install the Boss USB driver. This enables sending audio back and forth between the computer and the pedal, so you could play backing tracks from the computer and hear them in your headphones - you can also record your performance to the computer this way.
One other option would be to add Boss’s BT-Dual Bluetooth adapter - this way, you could stream music from a Bluetooth device (such as a smartphone) and hear it through your headphones:
www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BTDual--boss-bt-dual-bluetooth-audio-midi-dual-adapter
Yet another solution would be to use a small mixer. You could have both the pedal and your phone connected to the mixer, and you’d hear the combined signal through the mixer’s headphone output. The Mackie Mix5 is a good affordable choice for this approach:

@@sweetwater Thank you so much for the reply! I bought the bluetooth adaptor :)
Waaawwww...😍😍
Nice multi effector! I'm looking for a first multi. It can be a good choice for my music life!!
I guess I need this
When you say, non fixed chain, am I to understand that there is no need to be concerned about what effect goes into say the front of an amp and what effects would go into the effects loop? The device determines that? Thanks! Garry
Hi, funnyharleyman! Thanks for your message, hope you’re well and safe. A “fixed” chain means the effect order cannot be changed nor can other algorithms be added. The GX-100 allows the user to move effects to anywhere in the signal chain, regardless of any external connection to an amp or monitoring system. This allows for many more creative and versatile sounds to be programmed. Your amp and its effects loop are not part of how the processing work, though they can be routed in via the send and return jacks using a four or five cable method.

I don't think he's using amp. Most probably direct input
Everything sounds great but what are the cost for everything

Perfect Tool for the the small pub gigging musician...Boss is giving what the today guitar player need...Our thoughts with the people of Ukraine 🇺🇦
Sounds really good, but Boss really needs to make a better interface. It is better than the GT 1000, but it is still nowhere near its competitors...
I have the 50MK11 Boss amplifier and was wondering if the GX-100 will need the 100 Boss Amplifier to be able to get the full quality of the GX-100 effects?
Does it have any audio interface to record the sounds direct into daws??
Do you know how to copy and paste presettings? That way I can rearrange the already existing presettings to create my own personal banks. For instance, taking the surf rock 12-1 from bank 12 and match it with the Studio Blues 1-3 from bank 1 to create my own personal bank with those two settings from different banks. Just in the same bank.
Can the GT-1000 have the same presets as the GX-100? Or can the GX-100 presets used with the GT-1000?
Hello - great question. While there are some similarities between the effects, amps, and patches/presets on those pedals, they are not interchangeable.
Thanks!

Do this or any of their other multi-effects have loopers? I was told by a Boss employee that they don't, but then the internet seems to say otherwise.
It does have a looper 19 secs stereo or 38 secs mono. The problem I have with having owned both versions of the gt1000 is there’s only record play overdub and stop, no undo function.
Nice👍🧡✨
It’s a GT 100 with a colour touch screen pretty much
Great presentation Mitch! I was wondering, the output selections do not include solid state amps. Any alternatives? Thanks a lot!
Hi, Dennis. The output selection does have the option to match with a Katana, which would work the same as a solid state amp.

Nice looking product. I was a Gt1000 owner and from that perspective I cannot see the reason for this product. The gt1000 is still thier fragship. So what is the point of this?
How does it do with headphones? What impedance phones are best? Is headphones one of the output options in that menu?
Hi, The Lowmein. The GX100 works great with headphones. One of the best things about this type of product is that you can get the sound of a full rig into headphones for silent playing at any time. I wouldn’t expect the headphone amp to be super powerful so I would look at lower impedance headphone options. The Shure SRH440 or Sennheiser HD280 would both be great options.

Thank you for the demo Mitch and Sweetwater.
I've been looking at the BOSS 200 pedal series as a way to standardize my recording/live setup. Specifically I've been thinking of getting some of the following:
IR-200
EQ-200
OD-200
MM-200
DD-200
SY-200
.. along with a tuner and a reverb unit.
Roland, Boss, Vox are the same manufacturer right?
I have a tonelab Le that I still use
scenes within a preset are possible?
I mean at least 4 effects in parallel at once. 2verbs+2delays. Can this do it?? Thnxx ❤
Do you have to order it with the bluetooth adaptor? I did a search for a bluetooth adapter for the GX100 and I don't see anything available.
"BT-DUAL Bluetooth Adapter" should be what you're looking for? I'm considering getting the pedal, and that's what I'm finding
Does the looper have a “Undo”
What about using this with a synth???
Amezing pedal How much ?
Quick question : is it possible to use the expression pedal to whammy like say Tom Morello?
Hey, David! You can set the expression pedal to control different parameters for any of the available effects. You can set it to control the pitch shifter for a Tom Morello like effect if you want!
If you have any other questions, let me know.

What effects does the GX-100 have that the GT-1000 doesn't and vice versa?
Hi, Dunamis Studio. The two units are cut from the same cloth but the GT1000 does offer better sound and more features. It has a larger screen, more input and output options, has more sounds to choose from, and it has higher resolution conversion to keep the sound quality as high as possible. Both are great units and the GX100 is pretty incredible for the money but there is a reason why the GT1000 costs what it costs.

I can't tell, is there stereo chorus and ping pong delay?
How do I know to use the +10 db or the -4 db?
Hi, mykkool! Thanks for your message, hope you’re well. Both are line level. Technically, +4 is handles louder signals with more headroom and -10 is a standard consumer level. The destination determines which you use. Mixers vs guitar amps, for example. The goal is to keep the input of the destination device from distorting. Experiment to see what works best for your rig.

Is this a DI? Can I go straight to FOH or do I need to go through a Radial?
Hello, great question! You can go straight to front of house with this pedal, although a DI will help reduce noise and maintain signal fidelity if it is a longer cable run, so it is not a bad idea.
Thanks!
