that 9:25 - 9:42 sequence was colossal, every note rings along with the wall of rich distortion, making my face melt. you did great Leon!! and Boss too! I wish someday i could afford it :)
Hey Leon, you are the reason I’ve gotten back into guitar playing, I was big into it in the eighties, then it sort of drifted off the radar. When I discovered you and rag doll about a year and a half ago your tone and playing style lit me up like I can’t describe. I have fired up my old mark 3 boogie, purchased a new jp2c and a boatload of new gear and just bury myself in it. I’m 60 years old and better than I’ve ever been thanks to you. Your playing is fantastic, tone is amazing and your knowledge of music and gear is mind blowing. I swear you could make someone dragging their nails down a chalkboard sound good. Keep up the amazing work, I am always looking forward to your next video. Thank you for the kick in the ass that got me back into this. I’m setting up a preset in my boss gx100 with your settings at the moment, then gonna spend the rest of the day in it.
Hey Leon...I just wanted to say that I appreciate your approach very much...calm and professional...no screaming or profanity. It's a pleasure to watch your amazing content!
Hey Leon! I just bought one of these. It’s two years after you made this video, and, as usual, your approach to firing up a new piece of gear made it easy to get through the basic navigation of this gadget. I’ve watched videos and did some of my own poking around, but I eventually downloaded and printed the 95 page manual. I retired a few months ago, so I’ve got the time to fiddle around. Thanks, as always, for putting together a clear and concise tour through a this “new” electronic juggernaut.
Nice one Leon! A great, simple & informative demo, Living the face pulling in this vid, especially when you played the preset that sounded like a Hammond / Rotary, you must have been really working on them faces recently!! Cheers take it easy! Steve.
Phenomenal Leon, I spent the entire video just enjoying the tones and playing, it sounds organic and brought on an instant Shred-Grimace!!........... I'm absolutely sold, thank you! 😁🎸
Best demo for me! I just got this and it’s a Hugh learning curve. Thanks so much for the info. I love your channel and your one of my favorite guitarists. Anytime your in Wilmington NC let me know lol
I bought this two days ago and I LOVE IT!! Spent 2 hours dialing it all in and getting acquainted…and now this video has just explained every question I had! TY
Absolutely love your playing and tone. Exactly how I set up mine with chous or a doubling effect. Love that 80s tone!!! GF is dying over here, while I am listening apperently I make the same faces listening to shred as playing. Also I need to send you a video of my fully wireless/powerless pedalboard rig and the possibilities now a days.
Thank you for a great video. I bought the gx 100 about 7 months ago, I still haven't got into it as such as I was releasing my first album but now my plan is to take it to stage so have to learn my pedal 😅 your video has helped me. You're an awesome guitarist .
I have one coming in tomorrow. I use a Helix floor at my gigs and it has way more than I'll ever use but it's housed in a heavy flight case and it's a drag to carry it around for a rehearsal or for a small gig where I don't need my Plexi preset, soldano preset, JTM45 preset...you get it. I just like how easy it was to get a really nice clean tone without a million parameters. I'll still run the Helix until it dies but it's nice to know there'll be a good back up and something I can take to a rehearsal without killing myself. Great video, great playing.
Just to play Devil's advocate...............Have we really though? All this technology and they STILL model what? Vintage amps and effects. Oh the irony.
@@duel5071 Hahahaha...GUILTY as charged. Been there done that. I am a self confessed gear head and endless tweaker. But it's all a part of the fun....cheers!
Man! You are awesome!! And your guitar playing is just beautiful, which really helps to showcase the power of this thing. Thanks for explaining everything so well and really getting into the important stuff about this unit. I've already ordered one, but they're selling fast here in Australia so it's on backorder and I'll need to wait a bit. Your vid has got me even more excited about my decision to go with a Boss multi-effects unit, and I have no doubt this will do everything I need and more, rather than trying to build my own pedal board etc, which I had been playing around with. Now to delve deeper into the effects, amp modelling etc that you mentioned are detailed more in your GT-1000 vids. Keep up your fantastic work mate - very much appreciated!! Sean :)

Picked up mine yesterday. Loving it. Thanks for showing us how to assign effects to foot switches in an easy to understand way. I was a bit confused with the manual but you made sense of it. Cheers
I really like this Leon! I've always liked the Boss sound, but never liked the multi - fx units they made. This seems a lot more practical with a touch screen. It also seems like a smaller footprint, which I think is great for the gigging person that needs to throw down quickly, and pack up quickly. Oh yeah, it also sounds great!!! Great demo man! Simplicity goes a long way. The tone with just an amp and reverb was great, to start with! That gives you an idea of the quality and the thought that is put in a unit and how practical it is in real life situations, not a ton of effects and bizarre sounds to impress. You can have a good amp sound and then you add effects to taste. If your core tone is great then the effects are just the "pepper", the "mustard" and the likes that give you some different tastes! Very good points. I don't give a shit about zillions effects. I want to know the core amp sounds. If that sounds good alone then I know I have a good unit.
@@thomasanderson9202 I'm knocked out with my EVH Iconic 40watt combo and I've had 3k amps. I use it with Pod Go in fx loop. for delays, drop pitch Eb, Reverbs, volume pedal etc.

Very nicely done video. I appreciate you taking the time to build a simple rig, sounded pretty dang good as well. I've been using my Head Rush gigboard for playing regularly. It’s the early morning hours of Monday, 19 February, 2024 as I comment. I purchased a 100 on Friday, and I am really digging the presets. It’s giving me some great ideas on how to program my own patches for it. It was worth clicking on this video among others, if only for the reminder that devices like this one can be strictly used as an FX generator if you already plugged into an amplifier that you’re satisfied with. My MO for the last 17 years has been to use my paddleboard to model amplifiers and look for a direct line into a PA channel whenever possible. Unorthodox though that may be, I feel like it produces pretty decent results.
Great video man! I tell you guys, I’ve got the GT1000 & once you’ve put your own IRs on it it’s another story - freakin LOVE mine!!! I’ve run it in so many ways (with valve amps 4cm etc), I’m not a fan of touch screens though 😬 (big old hands that these screens don’t like!) but love how you can use a small chain in this unit, like Leon says in GTK ALL the blocks are there all the time wether used or not so every rig is looooong! You won't believe this, but I searched for PItch effects with the GX100 and your video came up and it even started where you were turning off the Over drive and pitch shifter and then turned them on .. I cant believe it. hahaha.. Tim
Yup, but I prefer Boss to update the GT like how they freed up the processor by switching to mono and giving us another fx4. They should let us choose to turn off preamp 2 and give us another master delay block and another reverb block.
@@davidlum2001 Yeah, if the future GX1000 is anything like the GX100, you can do 9 or more master delays or reverbs if you so desire. That would be awesome! Unbound blocks are way more flexible.
Great sound that GX-100 and great demo. But let's be honest, I am here only to hear you playing. I really like your style, solos are always amazing, flawless technique and a lot of feeling. 👍
After watching your demo, which was awesome, as always, I looked up the price for the GX-100. I fully expected it to be at least $1,000 US. I was shocked to see that it’s only $600, and the optional Bluetooth unit is $55. That makes it only $5 more than an HX Stomp, with a built in expression pedal and Bluetooth. That’s pretty amazing. I really like the touchscreen concept. I have an FM3, which I absolutely love, but I wish Fractal would adopt touchscreen interfaces. One thing I wish all modelers would integrate is an actual display of what is assigned to each foot switch. Let’s say I’m doing a gig, and I have several presets with different effects assigned to different foot switches for each one. It’s great that I can assign switch #6 to turn the flanger on and off in a preset, but in the middle of a gig I might not remember which switch I assigned it to. I wish there were a little display above each foot switch that would say “Flanger”, for example, so I can see what I’m controlling without having to memorize the entire layout of where I assigned things. Maybe there’s a unit that already has that, but I think all modelers should include that feature. I think Fractal has the best technology internally, but they have the least user friendly interfaces.
I was Considering The Boss Katana Artist 1x12" 100-watt Combo Amp.. But "WOW" I am Sold on The BOSS GX-100..Great Job Leon. Best Sound/Playing I've Heard out Of The BOSS GX-100.. Your Awesome Man.. TY..Rob
Thank's a lot. Using HeadRush today and love it, but need a second as smaller one and easy to portable it between places. Seems that I found what I looking for. I also have a old Boss GX-700 as I love too in the days :)
Amazing brother!!!! I was sold when you straight up killed it on that intro solo....man, you should have let it play out for a few more bars, damn.... totally subscribed.....thanks for sharing.
I think it is a very underrated piece of equipment. The only negative point is the lack of XLRout, if it had XLRin like most modern equipment, there would be nothing to say. Excellent and cost-effective.
Ive always felt Boss effects sound so organic, in the past more then Line6 (to my ears), now Fractal to me is more organic, but Boss its been really goodddddd 🔥🔥🔥🔥
So I’ve always found much of the GT series (or COSM in general) has this weird frequency in the high end that. But that’s only with the amp sims with their stick cabs. If I drop my own IR in front of it, it opens right up.
Thank you so much! This video is amazingly straightforward and your playing is absolutely solid! Now a question.. I own a gx100 for a while now and I always tried using it with headphones and pa speakers because it has the amp modeling but I always had a buzz coming along when I play individual notes and I'm extremely frustrated... I've been watching UA-cam videos for a while now on this particular model and they always sound amazing in the videos... Can you clarify if you use a guitar amp with it or how you output the sound from it? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
Leon my friend 😊 How do you rate this pedalboard compared to boss gt1000? is it possible to record the sound and the dry track at the same time to be able to edit it also in post production? is it possible to cross two different delay things? Is the whammy sound with the expression pedal acceptable for live performances? I saw that Nita Strauss really used the gt1000 live with uncle Alice and the performance was excellent .. I really like the sound and the functionality of this pedalboard! Thank you so much for your video demonstration !
Sounds great, would be cool to see a run through of all the amp models (maybe with your own IRs) with some Ragdoll style tones like you did with the GT1000!

Top notch work as always Leon. I'd love to see an updated GP-10 with wireless GK pickup. Have you ever used the GP-10?
I've heard the GP10 is a bit of a sleeper so I need to check one out. Had plenty of time on the old VG8 though which is fun
I was Considering The Boss Katana Artist 1x12" 100-watt Combo Amp.. But "WOW" I am Sold on The BOSS GX-100..Great Job Leon. Best Sound/Playing I've Heard out Of The BOSS GX-100.. Your Awesome Man.. TY..Rob
Thanks Rob!
Thank's a lot. Using HeadRush today and love it, but need a second as smaller one and easy to portable it between places. Seems that I found what I looking for. I also have a old Boss GX-700 as I love too in the days :)
I really need to grab a GX700 for the rack
@@LeonTodd Yeah, it's a must :)
Amazing brother!!!! I was sold when you straight up killed it on that intro solo....man, you should have let it play out for a few more bars, damn.... totally subscribed.....thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
Nice video! Thanks!
I think it is a very underrated piece of equipment.
The only negative point is the lack of XLRout, if it had XLRin like most modern equipment, there would be nothing to say.
Excellent and cost-effective.
Always great content Leon! You are a legend.
Ive always felt Boss effects sound so organic, in the past more then Line6 (to my ears), now Fractal to me is more organic, but Boss its been really goodddddd 🔥🔥🔥🔥
And it’s 599 so cheap but so good tone
I own a Boss GT 10 .I use it all the time my pedal board is collecting dust LOL

Thanks!
Straight to the interface here. Lots of potential sources for boost and buzz unfortunately so it can be hard to nail down
Leon, you are an amazing guitar player, love you gentleman,
🙌
i hope i will buy soon. Great price for a beast like that.
It sounds phenomenal
Ordering one!!
Leon my friend 😊
How do you rate this pedalboard compared to boss gt1000? is it possible to record the sound and the dry track at the same time to be able to edit it also in post production? is it possible to cross two different delay things? Is the whammy sound with the expression pedal acceptable for live performances? I saw that Nita Strauss really used the gt1000 live with uncle Alice and the performance was excellent .. I really like the sound and the functionality of this pedalboard!
Thank you so much for your video demonstration !
Same sound, different internal layout. Should do 90% of what the GTK does. I'll have to check regarding the DI via USB

Ok.. I'm waiting for your other news regarding these two pedalboards !
Thank you so much !
Sounds great, would be cool to see a run through of all the amp models (maybe with your own IRs) with some Ragdoll style tones like you did with the GT1000!
Because of your video I’m going to buy it ❤️❤️
What a time to be alive!
great demo.
