What has your experience been with your Boss GX-100?

I got the pod go because it was 250 😂
The me80 sounded good, so I know this has to. I like using the preamps in front of clean stereo amps. My gigs I use tho. I'm ready to plug into the p.a. with pod go cabs now tho

A bit of a learning curve with the input/output, assigning parameters, and tweaking global EQ but worth it. I've never felt more in control of my guitar tone. Going stereo into two Katanas. Sounds great!

As a Boss fanboy (or fan old fart since I'm not that young😂) I list say, I love GX100. I switched from GT-8, which I've had for years. And for me GX100 is second to none

Love it. I use it doing theatre gigs with a Fender acoustasonic. We've got room for one guitar and I need to be able to do everything from acoustic backing of songs to electric guitar funk to saturated Meatloaf solos - the Boss GX-100 means I can have patches for the modelled acoustic sounds without any amp modelling but with reverb/comp effects and then when I switch to the acoustasonic's magnetic pick up for the electric sound (the weakest sound from that guitar) the amp models do the job. Because it's built like a tank it hasn't broken despite being on tour; and back in the studio I use it to do session work. Very happy with it.

To all Boss Lovers / Haters - I own a Boss GX-100 and this is the only modeller / multi fx unit ( in it's class ) that has a latency of 0.7 ms ( faster the response, more realistic the feel ). When I got to know this, I closed my eyes and bought it. And Boss added some more sugar with the recent firmware update that made it sweeter 😍.

I don’t think the GX100 gets the recognition it deserves. I’m not sure why. Maybe, because it’s Boss, and such a familiar name, it doesn’t have the mystique of some of the other more esoteric makes? Whatever. To me, it’s by far the best value modeller out there in terms of its UI and versatility. Plus it really sounds great… as you say, there is very little between most of the modellers out there in terms of the of sounds available but (as you also say) it takes some effort to get it sounding exactly the way you want it. Having used Headrush and Line 6 stuff, amongst others I think the GX100 compare favourably for basic sound quality but it’s the form factor and UI that does it for me. It’s now my “go to” for most gigs. Really good video, thanks… and nice playing, by the way!

Its a gteat unit.... the switching options is second to none. I can make the pedals do anything. Recently put a tonex one into the loop so i now have one patch with endless amps. the combination of the dumble on the tonex with Boss Klon (centaur) models sound immense)

The core of my rig is the Boss GX100. The ease of programming and foot switch assignment is wonderful. I copy the same program across the entire bank, so I have 4 different "scenes" so I can have different gain stages or turn on several different effects with one button. This allows for seamless switching and effects spillover. Rock on.

I use my GX100 everyday for 2hrs a day and gig regularly with it. It sounds amazing and I can get any sound I want! The new update added the X-Titan which was the only thing I was missing from my GX. I wanted one good metal amp and the TiTan is exactly what I was missing.

Big GX fan here. Went from using a GT-8 into the return of a tube amp, then the GT-8 through a Palmer PDI-09 cab sim direct to FOH. When the GT finally died, I tried the Line 6 stuff but didn't bond with it at all. Decided on the GX and immediately loved it! Been using it live for a couple years with my tribute band direct to FOH with a Headrush 108 frfr speaker behind me. Excellent setup.

I'm not smug, I'm just excited very much permanently for the last 4 years and I cannot get the grin off my face, I've discovered how to achieve flawless tube tones out of my non-tube unit....every blind test I've conducted is my proof including during live performance.....I will eventually reveal the trick I hope.
I own two original rarer than hen's teeth or horse feathers, Boss FA-1 vintage pedals I've had from new that are on my chain and they are without doubt an integral if not the absolutely essential items on my personal tonal process and signal chain.....mind-boggling!!!!...my pedals are from a financial angle I suppose more expensive these days than the new Soldano stuff alone.

I hate having to stomp on the toe switch to activate wah-wah so I set my GX-100 patches to turn on wah as soon as I rock the pedal forwards. In the fully up position the wah is off. Volume I control from the guitar. Don't know if that would work for you but at least if you accidentally hit the pedal while going for C1 it won't ruin anything. In this scenario when you're not using the wah you want it to be fully up anyway. And since the wah switch is now unused, I moved the tuner function to it which frees up C2 for a different assign. So many possibilities with this unit I love it.

Really nice video. Ive been thinking about getting one or just sticking with an interface and guitar rig pro. The gx-10 just came out but I think having the extra foot switches in the GX-100 is more convenient than having something smaller but spending more time arranging presets.

I agree 100% with your assessment....Regardless which modeller/amp in a box/multi fxs, they all sounds great, probably different, but still, each of them sounds great. I am also one of those people who do not care whether it sounds exactly like the real amp or not...i only care whether it sounds great & feels good to play. For that matter, i have been using NuX Amp Academy since it 1st came out as my amp/cab sound while my Boss MS3 gives me my "wet" fxs plus as a loop switcher (i have the Strymon Riverside in one of the MS3's loop, for all of my drive sound, & i really mean, every type of drive sound, from edge of breakup right up to heavy distortion, plus the MS3 sends PC MIDI to the Riverside to select the numerous presets that i have created in the Riverside)..... I have performed side by side with guitarists using AxeFX or Kempers or Helix, etc, & practically all of them would come to me & voice their amazement at how great my pedalboard sounds. Great video Mr Rod...

I was just tooling around UA-cam trying to find some new ways to utilize my Gx100 and found you. I’ve had a GX 100 for two years. I play weekly gigs at a large church and it’s been excellent. No problems or reliability issues. It works every time. I have found a few base tones and have expanded greatly on those. I would recommend this unit for budget minded folks.

I settled on an earlier Boss unit that I still use as my everything. I've got a rather unique way of using it as the backbone of my signal chain to any room or recording process, I do like this new version of your unit (their new GX10) from another tone sculpting perspective too, I agree Boss's own in-house amps are already murdering the pig and my older unit does my thing to the point of non-improvement or by any other means more than likely, -I liked your personalised tones too, they sounded great for your demo.
My personalised tweaks on my older unit are under lock and key as is the rest of my devices on the signal chain, it's retired all of my previous amps and it's great not to have to lug around my amps anymore.

I trimmed down my big board and lots of pedals to just my HX Stomp and a couple of pedals and an additional switch. I recently added a Tonex1 and wow that was a great addition because the amp captures were much better than the Stomp models. All I need is 2 amps running the Tonex thru the loop block on the Stomp.

Man, that Tweed plus OD sounded fantastic! Btw, I also never found it particularly useful (or even logical tbh), to put so much emphasis on what exact amp the sound is trying to emulate. I mean, there are countless amps in the physical world, and if there was such a thing as the perfect sound, well then there would be if maybe not only one left, then at least much fewer around. What are the odds that you think that the perfect sound for you will be exactly this or this amp that already exists? To me it seems much more likely that I will end up liking something that has at least some variations to the sound I started from anyway. So therefore I think the Boss approach to give them their own names and just be "sounds" makes much more sense.

I had a friend that used Boss floor units since the 90's - Boss was king when it came to digital guitar processors as they were referred to then. You don't hear about Boss modelers as much when you look at the usual suspects like Helix and Kemper. Boss was always known for it's digital distortion algorithms who were the early pioneers of digital so why wouldn't they be good? They have been doing it longer than the rest. Glad you made this video and hopefully it will get Boss GX more exposure. I think the stigma of "Boss" unfortunately in the last 20 years due to haters because they were brainwashed that true bypass was the way to go along with other gripes that at the end of the day don't matter when your using them in a mix. Just ask Josh Scott at JHS who has nothing but the highest praise for Boss, and I think he knows a thing or two about engineering digital and analog. Great channel and I have listened to some of your music online, nice tasteful playing- I have been playing for over 40 years, so consider this an honest educated solid compliment. It sounds like you have had extensive experience with a variety of modelers which carries a lot of weight with me and if I still played out would be taking a serious look at the GX 100 for my rig-I mostly do studio work now with VSTs. Thanks for your work making these videos, I know its more time effort and dedication than people realize.

I have it now quite a while but did not use it too often as I am just a hobby player and rather lazy to really dig into the GX100. hence, I often revert to my Boss Katana 50 and its build in effects. However, the GX100 seems to offer much more than I know. As I am a big AC/DC fan and I’m wondering if I could use the UA Lion amp model pedal with the GX100?
