@@donnawillson1516 I had the same problem with a Rivale that i owned. Damn fun bike (useless for touring though), but the fule-consumption combined with a small tank made me sell it after only 1 year. Such a hassle.

@@donnawillson1516 I ride a BMR1250R. Very comfortable and impeccable handling and relaxed ride, with superb low rev acceleration. It does over 60 mpg and 250 mile range on the bike is true, though don't go much more than 200 miles on a tank. Sometimes I think I want to change for a more fun bike, but which bike, I cannot make up my mind.

A great concept to give impressions of a bike simply by the seat-of-the-pants experience. As you said Andy, it is what it's all about! More pure feedback than going in with full specs, competitor data and unavoidable preconceptions.

I like these a lot. I’m a big fan of things like the R9T and Speed Twin but they are clearly retro and something of a design cul de sac. This updates the classic look nicely I think. It looks solid and purposeful but also elegant and balanced to my eyes.

Great review Andy. Pleased to see you appreciate the bike. Had mine nearly a year now and love it. No really issues as such, I’d do however find putting fuel in it a bit of a pain because of the bar across the filler. You can’t get the nozzle in the tank that far so you need to add fuel slower that usual otherwise it splashes all over the place. It does tend to get quite dirty as well, I get spray over the rear seat and up the back of my jacket. Apart from that it goes as fast or as slow as you want it to without complaint, it’s reasonably comfortable over longer distance and returns a healthy 52 mpg.

I've had one for a couple of years. It's my daily commuter. Only issues are the 4-6k rpm Euro 5 dead spot and the factory tires. Full exhaust and tune took care of most of the 4-6k dead spot and swapped to Mich 5's and it's been perfect.

As you would put it Andy specs wise it looks to be in the Goldilocks zone too. 213 kg 143 hp 830mm seat height, decently priced and being it's a Honda no Warranty anxiety to worry about so if you were after a long term keeper the red one would look great in anybody's garage. Lets hope a few people test ride this bike after seeing your review as I suspect for most of us that initial impression is very important.

Great bike, have owned one since 2020 & covered 11k miles with no real issues. if you're a spirited rider approaching 100kg in gear you'll pretty much certainly need a replacement shock as the STD one is far too soft in terms of spring rate & damping, i got the forks set up as best i can & they're ok but nothing to shout about. Replace the exhaust & do a Woolich flash & you'll gain 20bhp in the middle (about 6k rpm), really transforms the bike. Only other 'major' thing i've done is fit heated grips which are a godsend on a cooler day.
Love the review, as you said the bike was completely off my radar too but a friend & i got a silly good deal on them - the bike has totally surprised me, even when i took it on track!

I've had mine since 2021 when the black edition first came out and its great. Seems to be a bit underrated and don't see many on the road, but its a fantastic bike. I've put 20,000 km so far, and for me the weakest part of the bike was the rear shock, which I switched for an ohlins and it is now soooo much better, its been on track a few times so far too. I also don't like the neutering honda did down low in first and second gear, I've seen a tuner look into the ecu and honda has restricted the throttle bodies down to 30% to make it more tame and calm. It's taken a while for woolich to get their software compatible for this model but a couple months ago they cracked the code and now people can start tweaking. I find the CB looks better in person than in the pictures/videos too, its absolutely beautiful. I have a z900rs which does my daily work and the CB comes out on sunny weekend rides. Thanks TMF for the ride along!

@Crusader General I've seen a couple of dyno's after, there is a youtuber cycle vybz i think is his name and he posted a tuning video, and I talked with a guy who had moore mafia tune is a couple months ago. They both put full exhaust systems and only gained about 10 hp but the mid range was noticeably improved. For me the top end is good enough, especially since its a naked, but the down low and midrange is suffering a bit on these. I don't think anybody is offering a mail in flash service yet either.

7:37 I am a tanker driver and I can tell you that I am loading the tanker from Shell and BP bases and delivering to all kind of supermarket stations ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, etc. But some stations as they are franchise operated would have their own bases where the fuel goes first and is treated with god knows what. Tip if the station you’re filling from looks dirty and miserable the owner is probably a low life that uses crappy fuel, otherwise all fuel comes from the same place. Just because you are filling from Shell or BP doesn’t mean the fuel is good.

I much prefer these super nakeds to the extreme hyper nakeds for the road as they still have way more than enough go & seem to be more sensible in every way. Also on the subject of helmets, Shark have just released the latest SKWAL which is apparently first helmet with an integrated brake light on the back, so they claim.

I have a previous model SKWAL as a spare helmet and I wouldn't buy another unless they have massivly improved the visor mount clips and wind noise.

@@MadTPot Interesting & good to know. Putting a brake light on the back of it won't fix any of those issues either.

You expressed it early in this review when you commented about not knowing the bike's specs...The specs really don't matter, as our enjoyment of riding comes from the ride itself. My first ever experience on a bike was at age 13 being taught how to ride on a Honda SuperCub - yes, all of 55cc, and it was the most exhilerating thing I had ever experienced in my young life. Over the years I've been in many a conversation with fellow motorcyclists, and specs and performance numbers get tossed around ad nausem. But riders seldom talk about how riding makes them feel. And to me, that's all that matters. For many years I chased the fastest, most highly regarded bikes, only to realize in my waning years that I rode because it was fun... and any ride beats walking! Nice review.

Thanks for the review Andy, I’ve had my 2019 CB1000R since January.I had a break of 23 years between owning a bike and getting the CB1000R, so i am taking it easy, getting used to biking again etc. I really can’t fault the bike, its easy to ride and really rewarding, it puts a massive grin on my face every time i take it out 😃. Keep up the great work, 🍻 cheers D 😃🙏

Not rode one, but every time i see one in the flesh it oozes quality to me. But it should do at over £13K for the black edition. Love everything about how the bike looks apart from the number plate appendage, which i would change for a conventional tail tidy.
I really should get a test ride on one sometime.

I used to ride a Kawasaki kmx 125 back in the 80s. I Recently got back into bikes and passed full bike license a month ago. I bought a Honda Rebel 500 to basically cut my teeth for now. I will be buying My next bike in March and am undecided with my next purchase. I’m torn between an Indian Scout 101 and this Honda 1000r. Thoughts?

Thanks for a fun review, and I like this “quick and dirty” concept: numbers are only 1/2 the story. More than once I’ve been convinced by the numbers but a test ride made me walk away. (I love the bike, too. I wish I needed a bike like it.)

As always, a great video and informative just a little point regarding supermarket fuel, the only real difference between any of the fuel you get is the amount of additive that goes in as a tanker driver I have delivered additives to various locations and you will invariably see all the different companies loading from the same terminal someone is bound to rubbish what I've just said but I'm talking from experience oh and I love the old fashioned word MACHINE LOL

I do like this bike, and owned one. Confortable on longer rides, and fun and fast, even able to be taken to the track for some real fun. Suspension was soft to me, but I was a big guy (lost lots of weight since) and went from softish to hard for me. I did end up replacing with Ohlins adjustable type I like, which makes this bike perfect and gives it a nice look as well. Looks amazing! Normally I also change rims on my bikes, but on this one, the factory ones look so nice they're still there. I did change tires to the Michelin Road 6, though, which work great where I live in winter weather. Did I mention the bike looks amazing? ENgine is right for town riding, and exciting on the Canyons and the track! Good bike. Fuel gage is nice. I did end up buying a Speed Triple this year, thogh, and I do miss the fuel gate
