Back when I started riding, a 750 was considered a big, powerful and fast bike and it was to be treated with respect, especially in the wet. These days a 750 is a mid sized bike which I have noticed many people call small, light and flickable and almost a learner bike. How times have changed. I still think a 750 would have all the power most people could ever need or use, and they have become so user friendly that you hardly even notice how fast they are, or am I wrong?. Thanks for the review, some interesting observations.
No you're dead right....
Nail on the Head well & Truely Struck ..🔨
Torque is a wonderful thing. Smaller CC bikes with multiple cylinders lack the low to mid people found they enjoy.

I know you don't like doing bike reviews, but I think this was one of the best you have done. Loved the detail about the storage under the seats and the bike widths. That stuff is always good to know when choosing a bike
I don't mind doing bike reviews on bikes I like and when I have plenty of time like this - I don't like doing bike launches when it's all controlled by the manufacturer or doing bike reviews only...whatever, I'm glad you like this one!
My neighbour (65 years old) has just test driven one and immediately put down a deposit. I'll look forward to trying it myself. Great reviews.

Been Sold I wonder wich Colour will be the most Popular
For me I Like. The white one / Red Frame

I cross shopped this and the CB650R. I ended up going for the CB650R just because I think it has more passion in it's design and it was a bit cheaper too in NZ too ($14,995 incl ORC vs $16,000+ORC both NZD). I know it's an older platform but it just looks so good, has that sweet inline 4 and just feels like the engineers put more love/passion into the design whereas the CB750 just feels like it was strictly built to a budget. I hope I don't grow to regret my decision but I've done 1,900km on my CB650R so far and I have loved every km of it so far. In just over an hour, when I finish work, I will go for a ride out to Makarora at the Northern end of Lake Wanaka in New Zealand. 5pm can't come soon enough!
Sounds great to me! Enjoy the ride…
Nice review Andy. The plastic tweezers in the tool kit is for removing fuses.Very difficult to do without them!
Aha! Every day is a school day - thanks for that!
Was there even a spark plug socket in the "tool kit"? The "two tone" exhaust, why, what does it accomplish? Informative, fun review as ever, thanks.
Tweezers should be next to the spare fuse, not in the tool kit!
Now THAT's how to do a comprehensive bike review. Good work sir!
Much appreciated!
Have to say I’m really liking the extra details included on this real world review. The extra tweaks and queries have elevated everything upwards. Really enjoy them.
Glad to hear that!
Another excellent video Andy. You really do set the gold standard when it comes to impartial, in depth motorcycle reviews. Keep up the great work!
Wow I'm glad you think so thank you!
Probably one of your best and comprehensive reviews.👍
Wow, thanks!
Your insights are right on. I ride in the wet a lot here on the west coast of Canada, and I use Rain-X on my mirrors - it does a great job of getting most of the water to just slide off, and improve rear vision on wet days. Just a quick swipe before you ride, and it works quite well.
Yes it’s good stuff isn’t it…
Nice review as ever TMF, you're leading the way on this bike. It doesn't quite do it for me personally but definitely an interesting proposition. There's an epic 10 bike group test waiting for MCN & the like in the not too distant I suspect. Can't go wrong with any of them really.
Yes a competitive part of the market this - good for us riders!
Cracking review. Seen the Grey colour Hornet at the local dealer, and as you say, the quality is on point, value is excellent.
Very detailed Andy I enjoyed that 👍
Bar set for you mate....looking forward to your assesment - when can I expect your first vid?? Taking your tine aren't you ;0)
Great review as always. There's a lot to like about this bike, especially the price and performance. The exhaust sounds a bit clattery at some mid-revs but a good sound overall. It looks to be the exact same headlight as found on the 500X/F and upcoming Transalp. Cruise control would have been nice... I wish it were standard on most bikes with ride-by-wire.
Glad to see riding season is getting warmer there -- I managed to get a few unusual February rides here in Canada but back to snow for at least another two weeks. Ride safe as always
Cheers - you too!
Another great review Andy. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
Good review, a lot of good useful info. Makes me want to try a Trans Alp even more.. The low down power and smoothness is really important. Great job mate. Twist the grip. RTW
Excellent review, Andy. I have the Transalp (same mechanicals) on order, so was pleased to hear the fuelling is not really an issue👍
Glad you enjoyed the video - well the parts you saw (you haven't had time to watch it yet!!). I'm sure the Transalp will be a winner - congratulations!
Hope it's as good as I think it will be. Honda has never really disappointed me. Suzuki has. I got a gs500e wish I bought a cb500s
Many Thanks for the Review.Seriously looking at Getting One.
Glad I could help
Great review Andy, I'm deffo looking to get one of these on PCP in September so this review has helped make my mind up!
Glad I could help!
Fantastic detailed review! Super helpful and informative!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for answering the questions about the twitchy throttle / fuelling at slow speed; MCN review put me off but it’s back on the list of potentials now 👍🏼
Glad I could help!
Always Great content. Thanks and keep the vids coming. All in all,Looks like a nice Bike.👍
Thanks for the kind words and will do!
Great review! It shows you put a lot of work in to your videos👌🏻
I’m glad you spotted that!
Excellent real world review Andy. You manage to get all the key points of owning a new bike into a sensible length video. Thanks for answering my specific question on vibes. I wonder if the bike has a hollow rear wheel spindle like my MT07. I fitted some aftermarket bobbins and rod through the spindle. Martin W. 👍🏼
Yes I should have looked at that and didn't - bike went back today so too late now!!
Thanks for both videos, you have answered all my questions and concerns (low speed throttle response being top of the list). I have one on order and hope to test ride next week. Specs for what I require fit the bill. I like the looks and have ordered a white one with quick shifter and fly screen, plus oxford heated grips. I have had many motorcycles over the years and heated grips are a must. Thanks again.
Congratulations on the new bike! Hope you like it as much as I did....
Great review as always! I'm excited to see your impressions on the new GSX8S when it's available to you
You and me both!
Another great review. Thanks again Andy
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Ultimate guide ?, Ultimate understatement !,hands down the best review you have ever done on a bike in my humble opinion.👍
Crikey - thank you very much!
Great vid, thanks for taking up my suggestion on the turning circle 😎🇨🇦
Thanks for the idea!
Great review as per TMF.
My 21 X-ADV has the smoothest throttle I've ever used.
Awesome review and lots of very interesting points, thanks! 👍
Thanks for watching!
Well done. I enjoyed this follow-up video and answering viewers questions. There is no facility for using a Paddock stand does seem to be an oversight. Can't wait for a review of the 2023 Transalp.👍
Me neither!
Really solid review, especially when you measured the width for getting the bike through the garden gate etc... Why has no one else thought of that? This should be a standard test.. given that not everyone has a garage.. the best review I've seen on the hornet so far. Thanks.
That's very kind of you thank you!
Another fantastic review Andy!! In regard to wind buffet, I've also found similar conditions on the Z650. You get a bit of wind on your upper body and helmet (it's a naked, no one should expect otherwise), and found it to be clean and you're not really fighting it. That was on a motorway at higher speeds as well.
Yes this one is surprisingly good in that respect....
Good review, and thank you for taking the time to answer viewers question’s. I really like the package that Honda have developed for the new Hornet and it’s sister the Transalp. I can see a space developing in my garage for either of these models. I hope to be test riding both models when they arrive in my part of Central Europe. The pricing here is also competitive, although higher than the UK which is normal.
Thanks for watching!
I do like the fact that you comment on things such as headlights, and it's good that bike manufacturers a equipping bikes these days with way better lights thn those of my yoof!
Awesome Indepth detailed review. I wish more reviewers covered things like headlights. Before I bought my 19 CB1000R I watched every review I could find. Not one of them mentioned the terrible headlight pattern.
Glad you liked it - thanks for the kind words!
Hervorragend, hab schon viele Videos zu der Honda CB 750 Hornet gesehen, aber nur Sie haben eine Fahrt bei Nacht gezeigt. Vielen Dank, Grüße aus Germany.
You're welcome!
Excellent value. Thanks Andy.
Very welcome
I for one am glad you don't go on press launches as your reviews are always honest and have details that a press launch can't match, unless the next big press launch is in based at the Great Missenden train station car park.
I appreciate that!
Great review. I am troubled by the trend toward parallel twins among Japanese bikes. We all want 4s or 3s 😅
Definitely one of the better reviews of the Hornet. Thank you TMF👏
Very kind of you to say!
Thanks for a real world review, really looking forward to picking mine up soon.
Congratulations on your new bike - when is it due?
@@TheMissendenFlyer My dealer reckons the beginning of March, ordered in the same colour that you’ve been testing with quick shifter, fancy saddle and fly screen. Just hoping I can get an aftermarket rear hugger for it at a later date, that’s if it’s possible to fit one.
I'm sure some enterprising manufacturer will be right on it....
Brilliant! You do reviews so well, it's really enjoyable (you and Bruce, even though very different, are really enjoyable, and when you've done the same bikes it's fascinating to see opinion from both ends of the physical spectrum).
Unrelated note, that hoody looked superb, where's it from?
Thanks for the kind words! It's a Honda Hoody - I googled and found this... store.via-moto.co.uk/collections/honda/products/honda-vintage-hoodies-sunset?variant=31998877171755

Love it! Great review.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review. already got one for me.
Very deep review good job man. Mix feelings for this bike. Feels like it will get old fast interms of looks and performance
I like the looks of if, especially in profile. With a couple of practical tweaks, it looks like a good buy.
Great review TMF and I like the format ,answering questions while out and about on the said bike .👍👍 And an honest point of view answer . As most magazine reviews due to advertising will undoubtedly be some bias . ☺
Thanks 👍
Great review as always. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Good video Andy looks a great VFM bike. Just wish my garage with only one bike was so tidy🤣
Glad you think that was tidy - I think there’s work to do!
I'm waiting for mine to arrive in Australia. Very excited.
Have you ordered one?? What colour?
Wow what a bike :)
Cannot be beaten at that price , I sat on one at the NEC and very nice
Couldn't agree more!
Fantastic Bruce..Great viewing whatxa week that looks like 👍
Bruce....??!
@TheMissendenFlyer sorry Andy just realised teapots vid finished then yours started and ived commented on wrong un hahahaha ...Great viewing on yours too 😅😅👍😊
Great continuity/editing on these vids now 😊
Thanks! 😊 I'm so glad you noticed....
This is one of those bikes that I would definitely consider as long as it was one of a few bikes in my garage. Way easier to handle than bigger capacity machines, and no doubt an excellent commuter bike...
Totally agree!
It Could be a Do it all Bike if you are no so well Heeled
@@jefflambert8603 Absolutely....but if I could have only one machine I would go for the NC750-X DCT
Yes great review as always. Its time to go and look at one in the flesh I think and see how it compares with my original.
You should!
Great review - I’m sure it’s helped a lot of people’s buying decision.
I hope so!
Good review. I saw one for the first time today in my local Honda dealership as I brought my CB500F in for a service. Don't know was I that impressed by the looks, to be honest, and, like you, I think I might go for the CB650R if I were to change up.
That was another great review Thank you brother
My pleasure
Great video 👍. Can't wait to see how the gsx8s stacks up
Me neither
I bought a 2024 Transalp with the same engine and it fuels perfectly. It’s also very fast. It has center stand mounts too. The ‘clippy’ thing is a fuse remover.
very good to see your watchers are asking the right questions ;;; any bike can be smooth at 55 mph , and doing 200 mph is mostly irrelevant ,,,, so the jerky in town stuff IS what affects most riders , the more power - the more tense the motor can be , thats why cruisers have an easier time around town than even a lightweight tuned bike ,, so its good that this bike has a fair bit of power , but with the 'modes ' it can suit the conditions , it is a good job that you take the time to show bikers what the bike is like in real conditions ;;;
Glad you think so - thanks for watching!
I’m about to finish my A2 and I’m considering this bike as my first bike. This is one of the best reviews I have seen so far. Just two more things I would like to see:
1. The hidden usb, if it’s posible to travel a cable through the inside to the handlebars
2. An in-depth of the menu
Sadly I no longer have the bike to check those out! Great choice for first bike though...
Wow! Nice hoodie! Lovely review as always and the 'middle weight' section has just gotten more difficult to choose from. Cheers!
Thanks so much!
Tidy review thanks for taking the time
No problem 👍
Great review! Hope there will be an aftermarket rear tire hugger for this when it comes out.
I'm sure there will....
Brilliant review really like this bike that exhaust would have to go 👍
You have answered my question about cruise control, at the exact time I thought it. So I thought to myself, that you must be a Psychic. Then I realised, that the video is pre recorded. So you must be a Psychic who can see the furure! My faworite. Nice review!
Glad it was helpful! By the way, do the lottery this weekend...just sayin'
Thanks for a great review (both of them). Going through your Pros and Cons, the real shame for me is the lack of proper mudguards and resulting 'crud' that gets thrown everywhere. Given the number of wet days we get here in the UK (esp in Cheshire) that's a lot of cleaning. Otherwise, a great bike and going on my short list.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching....
Nice review has helped me with my decision on my next bike.
Them roads were shocking as well
Tell me about it!
Good sign for the transalp... Thanks for the review
Yes isn't it - looking forward to trying that.....
Shame it's £2,500 more expensive!
Clippy thing is a fuse extractor. Thanks for the great video. 👍
Excellent video Andrew - Thank you very much!
Crikey - I only ever get called Andrew if I've done something wrong!
@@TheMissendenFlyer No, you never did anything wrong. Andrew is a good name and you should be proud of it. Thanks for your great videos Andy. I really enjoy them. Please keep up the good work and look forward to the next release.
Coming on Saturday!
Great review TMF and bought a hornet recently. Many other reviews noted a "snatchy throttle" and it is there but only from complete throttle close to open - need to be careful at roundabouts or you could take off in an unexpected direction!! No issues as you say at low speed constant throttle. In user mode set engine braking to minimum and power on 2 but has made no difference. Hoping Honda bring out a software update for this bike or sadly it will not be a "keeper" for me!!!
Subscribed! I've been looking about for my first big bike, after renewing my CBT with the pleasure of doing it on a CB650R I was convinced to book my DAS. I think you've sold the Hornet to me for sure now. As for cleaning it, I have kids, so my quality time I get to spend with my bike is washing it in the garden 🤣
Welcome aboard!
Great review. On the chain maintenance bit, I see Abba Stand guys are listing the bike, so that is a great option instead of traditional paddock stand.
Yes I'm an Abba stand fan too!
I really cant wait to see you review the transalp! This engine seems like a peach and I'm keen on the transalp version. But a bit worried its going to be too tall for a commuter for me at 5ft 9
The seat should be able to be lowered, and aside from that Honda notoriously undersprings factory suspension so once you're on, it will settle down nicely.
@@marcochavane3124 i dont think the seat is adjustable but it looks like there is a low seat option. Im always dubious about low seats and how comfortable they will be. You are right about the suspension haha!
Thanks for the review. Although Honda didn't have a stand at last weeks London bike show I did manage to sit on a Hornet there and at 6'2 can confirm the ergo's seemed just fine.
Did they not? I didn't realise that.....who else was missing?
@@TheMissendenFlyer Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and MV Augusta for starters. The website shows who was there.
Crikey....glad I didn't go in that case (and I normally do)....
Great review tmf on the hornet I’ve been looking at one of these at my dealer recently at my local dealer need to book a test ride there is a upgraded bike with quick shifter different exhaust headlight fairing plus a bit more which I can’t remember at the price increase at the moment and I thought it looked better anyway all the best.
Woo hoo! And thank you for welcoming me back to the channel. 🙂
Any time!
Thanks for the review, kind sir. I am eagerly awaiting the Transalp review, which I will also thank you for, kind sir.
Thanks for the measurements TMF
No problem 👍
I was once told my first BMW was so ugly no one would steal it. After marketing can fix many problems that low pricing has produced. Seems like whatever the video that Andy posts, I always seem to enjoy them. Personality is what does it for me. Never found a bike that I couldn't enjoy riding. Not willing to give up.!! 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
Top man - thanks John!
Thank you for another review. Good as always . I specially like that you test the bike in different conditions. Especially rain, yes rain In UK and in Sweden as well as most parts of the world it is raining sometimes. Bikeworld seams to left that obvious fact out since most modern designed bikes have a useless front fender. Why is that and why can´t it exist a little longer front fender as an extra option at least for those rider that use the bike even a rainy day.
Amazed by your work, as always! Well done! I have one question though. I used to have a Street Triple R (like the one you had) which was a really amazing bike, will it be noticeably worse this one for everyday commuting plus occasional fun rides?
The old Street Triple is superior in every way (except electronics!)
i've decided to get one of these after checking out many bikes, it ticks so many boxes for me, & am currently in the process of looking around to get the best deal i can. I've seen many reviews, and this is one i particulary like as you address some points not mentioned elsewhere, so thanks for this:). btw a rear hugger and front mudguard extender will be high on my list of accessories, as will a quickshifter and meter visor. GL
SOund like sensible additions to me - great bike, enjoy!
@@TheMissendenFlyerthanks for the kind thought. I bought one not long after this, delivery next week. ive added a few accessories in addition to the ones i mentioned above, and those are a tank protector, kickstand enlarger, H&B engine guard, H&B sportrack & lockit bag & am going to do a bit of experimenting with a 3d mesh seat cover coz i do like my long rides, and may incorporate an inflatable or gel pad if the old behind gets a tad numb. i've just re-watched the vid, so thanks again. GL
Excellent review as usual. Never liked the looks of the bike from the launch photos, however a friend of mine purchased a hornet in those very colours and i must admit the bike looks so much better in the flesh and i’m very impressed. Great bike to be fair to Honda.
Well that was a good review for me. Not interested, but always like seeing what is on the market in all countries. Thank you.
My pleasure!
Great review TMF👍. Maybe the aftermarket will come out with chain adjusters with integrated bobbins. Not smitten with the looks but overall the quality and function I would expect from Honda.
Yes I'm sure they will....
Hi ser! Clippy thing is for take out the fuses! Thx for the video!
Thanks for the info!
Thanks , nice review , it's on my short list for a third bike , if it ever gets here (usa) .
Took one out for a demo today and loved it so much that after 6 years with my 390duke decided this is the bike to replace it. It's like my KTM on steroids. Can't wait to get it but theres a wait on quick shifters. Got mine in white. Only things I don't like as you mentioned is no hugger or anywhere to screw in bobbins for a paddock stand sadly. Otherwise even the looks are growing on me.
One Hornet video to rule them all. Thanks!
Thank you very much - you didn't need to do that but much appreciated!
You could always get a paddock stand that sits under the swing arms instead of using bobbins. I had to use one of those for many years, it was fine.
Indeed...or an Abba stand....
Another great review, personally I won't buy a new bike without looking at your input, well done.
Wow! Much appreciated!
Better than expected overall it seems Andy 👍 I , like you, can't help but feel there'll be a price hike after the initial shipment. The pros and cons should've included two things you'd mentioned earlier in the video - the quality tyres are a definite pro, but one of the biggest cons has to be no s.arm bobbin attachments, that's a serious problem. The stands with cups that go under the swingarm are an utter pain to use, I dropped a bike once using one of those ☹
Yes agreed!
Nice review.
Thanks
Very interesting since I'm considering buying one.
Thank you for a great review! Very valuable insights. Some truly outstanding bikes now in this "neo-middleweight" category. And there are several of them that can easily handle light-medium touring, but the don't have cruise and don't even offer it! The manufacturers are crazy to think this would force a consideration of the next size up for riders who actually put on the miles. They should - AT LEAST - offer cc as an option! It's all there already, just needing a switch and a software tweak! C'mon, stop mucking about!
