Hello, I wanted to know if I can make the Beo Lab 18 work with a Sonos port? and Where is the ethernet connector that appears in the specifications and not in the video? a big thank you sir
Hello John ! Thanks for your great clips. I have a question, got some fab Beolab17's with transmitter 1. At the moment I'm using an optical connexion from my media box that has Airplay to stream from my ipad via Apple music. But I'm a bit fed up with the long wait to wakeup the airplay on my medai box...would like to get a specific Airplay or bluetooth streamer. What would you suggest..I don't really want to fork out for the essence or core...or even a 400 pound Sonos connect...as I most use it only for Apple music...
Thank you for the amazing video! I´m trying to connect the Beolab 17 & 19 to WiSA sound send transmitter. I have set the speakers to "wireless" like you describe, and then hold the reset button for 5seconds. The speakers show red for couple of seconds. I have done it maybe 20 times and sometimes it flashes green. I´m still unable to connect :( What am I doing wrong? How to connect the BeoLab 17 & 19 to WiSA
Hi nice review! Just a question what was that monitor you used? I thought wisa connections could only be made via a transmitter where it is only supported by new LG tvs or Xbox one. Thanks!
Thank you for your clips. I have a question that will the set of surround 5.1 with 4 Beolab 18 and the BL 19 Sub is the great movie experience. Thank you for your support
Dear John, thank you for your illustrative videos. i have a Beovision Avant 55 and 2 Beolab 18 speakers, and honestly i'm having difficulties in getting the sound i want, or the quality that these great pieces of equipment should provide. i followed your steps in doing the groups but for some reason the BL18s have a fairly decreased level than the speakers of the TV!! i have 3 groups so far: TV: only the Avant speakers setup as L, R & C. Movies/Cinema: all 3 Avant Speakers are set to "Center Front" and the BLs to "L surround" & "R surround" (again, the level of BLs is very low compared to the Avant speakers although they have higher db than them) Stereo BL18/Music: this is the most important for me since i listen to music most of the time.. so the 3 Avant speakers are turned off, and i'm using the 2 BLs only as "L, R wide".. i can't feel the base in the speakers and the distortion is too high. i really appreciate your guidance and experience in trying to reach the best sound. thanks a million. Azmy
Hi Amzy. Are the speakers in front of you next to the TV or behind your seating position? The mistake you have made with the Music group you have created is you have used left and right wide. You should set the Avant L/R/C to off and the BeoLab 18 to Front Left and Front Right, this way all of the sound is correctly sent to the speakers.
thank you for your feedback John. the speakers are actually placed a bit to the side corners of the room rather than right next to the TV (the living room setup is a bit strange but this was the best layout i could design), but indeed, i changed the BLs role to front the sound is a bit better. however: what should be the speakers level (db)? (because the assisted speaker calibration with the mic is not helping much) which sound mode to be used? (noting that the "music" mode is the worst, and ironically the "game" mode gives the best feeling of bass with less distortion) thanks a lot for your help
Hi Michael, no, Airplay will no work directly to the speakers. They need a source to connect to, a TV or audio system for example. You could connect them to a BeoSound Core and that will give you B&O Multi-Room, Airplay 2, Chromecast and Bluetooth. John
Marco Belloni if your samsung tv supports WiSA you can connect it to Beolab 18 wirelessly! Or you can buy the Beolab Transmitter 1 and connect it to your samsung tv via optical cables
Ok very nice speakers. BUT...160w for the tweeter and 160w for midbass so 320w total. Hmmm.... I saw power consumption 32w behind the speaker (if I am not mistaken). Unless it has some alien technology which can solve the energy problems in our planet, then I see no way of 320w amplification.
No alien technology, that will be some operating standards consumption test. The speaker consumed 32W in that particular test, not driven at full power. That number on the sticker has little to do with what the amplifiers can deliver when driven in normal use. Consumption varies with use, for example Typical: 14 W; Standby: wired 0.4 W; wireless 0.7 W; Instant on: 1.63 W. So many factors dictate a speakers performance other than watts, efficiency, THD, cabinet principle, impedance, size etc. The world of watts can be very confusing and misleading!
a big thank you sir, I just repaired the speakers that I had broken, you just saved my life
Thank you very much for doing this video include my request. To me, BeoLab 18 is the most stunning speaker ever designed. (Nice haircut!)
It's my pleasure, thanks for watching my videos and for your suggestion. I agree, BeoLab 18 are very pretty, sound great too.
Excellent description about WiSA wireless technology. I hope to see more videos like that in the future.

I hope they will bring wisa to the Beoplay range. It'll revolutionise how we listen to audio.
Is wired always better than wireless?
as a rule yes but not always possible..
How do I make my BeoLab 8000 wi-fi ?
Is Airplay supported on Beolabs?

Bang & Olufsen of Manchester
How do I connect beolab 18,19,20 (5.1) to the core?
Is it connected wirelessly or optical?
What’s a better speaker? The beolab 18 or 20?
BeoLab 20 is better especially in larger rooms
Does one need a sub for the beolab 20?
@@adekunledisu I would say no, BeoLab 20 are just as capable as the BeoLab 19 subwoofer. Moreso in fact.
can i pair beolab 18 to a samsung TV without cables?
Marco Belloni if your samsung tv supports WiSA you can connect it to Beolab 18 wirelessly! Or you can buy the Beolab Transmitter 1 and connect it to your samsung tv via optical cables
Im not a big fan of wireless so is there any way of using this transmitter fully wired to the speakers?
Yes, you just use the cabled inputs instead of wireless.

No problem, I enjoy doing them. Thanks for the suggestion. John
