@@BangOlufsenManchester Hi john, your videos are very informative and I like how you present the products! I proudly own a b&o 3500 system with a pair of beovox 60.2 redline speakers and it still sounds absolutely fantastic. @@BangOlufsenManchester Thanks John, just to update you I am considering buying a pair of beolab pentas, maybe mark 2 or 3 but I need to save some cash first as im looking at maybe 700 to 1000 pounds! What are your thoughts on these groundbreaking speakers as once again I have experienced some snobbery regarding them! The place I have seem them is in sussex at quality dream audio but is a hell of a round trip of 13 hrs from stoke- on- trent!! Do you know of anywhere nearer that will guarantee I will get a good second hand pair that have been quality refurbished as they will not post due to sheer size and weight! Thanks John! Hope to hear from you soon! Ithink you have the dream job working with B&O equipment which for me and I really dont what other techy snobs think is the best audio and video equipment in the world! Do you think that is a bold statement?
I used to eschew DSP / Active Speakers. The B&O AD said allow us to audition them at your flat, if you dont like them we will take them back. I was informed it took them better part of two hours taking readings in our Sala which is not ideal and with a large volume. The One Curiousity that hooked me was 18 drivers, 8200 watt peak. Hmm ok. And so We return home and it was on low omni and for a speaker to tame a room that is compromised and then - whats the source now. Sir your iphone. I kinda ‘borrowed’ not really for service but to connect. I look at my iphone, look at the speaker, active room compensation,, as I walk towards it set on omni- be it a foot away 25ft away and then up on the 2nd level of our penthouse still on low volume and without breaking a sweat ‘ keith didnt go’. Suffice to say they’ve never left either. Active Speakers work and b&o crushed this.
I spent three hours or so listening to these a couple of months ago. I couldn't help the stupidly wide smile on my face when I tried some of my favourite tracks and many others. During and immediately after the experience, talking about it with a friend, I found it difficult to form complete sentences. They're incredible.
I had the opportunity to hear these and they are phenomenal. A bit out of my price range. I own a pair of Beolab 5’s ($28,000.00 USD). I’m very grateful that I was able to purchase them. They bring me a lot of listening pleasure.
Heard these in the Manchester shop last year. Umpteen thousand watts of pure joy. Amazing speaker with more power than you can imagine. Its like being thumped in the chest with music. Nice presentation John.
Hi John, great video! I live in Struer in Denmark where Bang & Olufsens headquarters is located, and my Dad works at B&O as an acoustic technician and helped develop these speakers, and I will be sure to make him watch your video, so that he can see that he did good! :D
skodbolle thanks. Your Dad did do good, shake his hand for me, he helped create a masterpiece! I like your little profile picture, made me laugh. John.
These look fantastic. As high end audio goes there are speakers that cost a lot more than these but don't look anywhere near as cool. There are many firms making high end hifi gear but very few manage to make robust and beautifully designed stuff.
@@Alagathevictor it would be really awkward to sell you a bugatti at a price of a Ford focus right? Of course these speakers are for the people that can afford to pay for the music they enjoy. And they are not a few.
I heard these speakers in Harrods the other day. Utterly amazing. Spellbinding clarity and phenomenal bass response. I also listened to the £30k version of these but I wasn't to impressed, they were decent but nothing special for the money. But the Beolab 90 really is something special and I won't hesitate to buy them when the time is right. I've haven't heard the Wilson X1 or Magicos top model but I can't see how you can get much better than these, especially considering an X1 setup with amps/source can easily set you back £250k. And with the Wilson setup you don't have the luxury of free placement in a room like you do with these.
I don't want to listen to them. Without a spare £60,000 I think ignorance is bliss. My A9 has been the pinnacle of listening experience and I'm happy to keep it like that. But they did do good didn't they?! Absolutely speechless after seeing under the cover. Thank you for that.

The sound on the BL90 is like nothing I have ever heard in my life. Short version...the high tones are much more clean (BL5 is to harsh). The midrange is 10x better on the BL90. The bas is just so sweet, so deep, so tight, so soft........and so on. But be careful....the BL90 do get under your skin and I you hear them...you will miss em.
Little late but, at the end of the video you play the song for like 7 seconds right. And I have listened to a lot of speakers through a microphone. This thing already sounds amazing through a mic, now i want to listen to them even more...
Funny, I disagree. Every UA-cam video of the Beolab 90 sounds worse than most. I *know* it's not representative, but I'm intrigued whether everyone who films them uses really bad equipment (even those who previously filmed better-sounding loudspeaker videos), or if maybe it's related to their diffuse "natural" sound not being focused directly on the mic
Bang & Olufsen of Manchester My apologies, I suppose the answer was self-explanatory. Thanks. The reason why I asked is because I was thinking of the Love-Affair Collection, in which they have a Rose-Gold theme.
Noah_ James1 You can still get them in Rose Golden. You can have a look at the link in the description if you want to see the colour combinations. Thanks for watching. John.
I'm a sucker for retro hifi too. I still have my first separates amplifier my Dad gave to me as a teenager, a Pioneer SA 7800. I keep it because it's what started my obsession with sound and hifi. John
Just one of these makes my A9 look decidedly mediocre by comparison. Would be interesting to compare it to a Nautilus; that's probably its nearest competitor.
I would like to hear that too. But remember that you would also be listening to whatever power amps the B&W are connected to. With BeoLab 90 the headache of system matching is removed because you get 36 perfectly matched power amps for your money. John.
I have heard both. The Nautilus is a stunning speaker and the sound is close. But to get that sound with a Nautilus you have to set up the room and listening position. And you have to use high end amplifiers. This is just "plug & play" and thats why I would chose the BL90. This is alot of money but this is not just a speaker. Here you have speaker, amplifiers, sound processing and room calibration in one package.

With all those drivers you can generate radiation patterns (e.g. dipole, cardioid, etc), which can greatly improve speaker/speaker and speaker/room interaction

What i don’t understand, as an owner of beolab 9s and 3s, why the speakers are so vast in size whilst the TVs dwarf in comparison.
