    The dealbreakers for me were:
1: time spent away from home and family would put a ton of stress on me and my family
2: the cost of flight school and flight time needed to be hired is outrageous
3: the amount of hours needed to be hired is ridiculous
4: if anything happens to the economy, you could lose your job very easily (not a very stable career)
5: health problems like skin cancer due to increased solar radiation
    6: Low pay starting out
7: getting hired is very competitive

I’m scared I’m gonna waste a lot of time doing something that is useless so I hope I can be an airline pilot one day. I know maybe to some of you it’s funny but goddamn I’m scared of my future, I’ve always been like this. I’ve always wanted to be a diver pilot or astronaut because
    1) I travel a lot with an airplane, my father is a marine biologist, he manage supplies and productions on a big company in France and whenever he travels he brings me with him
    2) I live in a beach house I love the sea and swimming and diving in general

Living off my 401k since I'm quiting for a year after working hard in that shit whole of a job for almost 6 years.

It's more relaxed if your flying for a company because they have pretty set schedules were celebs (well-known ones ), have really hectic schedules because they might be filming and you have to go to multiple countries in a week, were as companies tend to stick to the same locations and might only need to fly a few times a month.

I worked for SWA in Kansas City on ramp and then provisioning. Then I quit and joined the railroad 15 years ago and now I am a locomotive engineer which is a similar lifestyle. I would say one other factor, not sure if it is a pro or con, but it seems I am always on the move. Never in the same place for an extended period of time. I always tell people, I am either here or there or somewhere in between.

I don't know what that specifically means, but only making 20k a year sucks for all the training you seem to need to go through. I did a week of CDL training to get my class B and became a trash truck driver and make 3x more. No wounder there is a shortage.

Also, your degree doesn't have to be aviation related . You want a degree you can fall back on just incase you lose your medical, furloughed, lost interest in piloting, etc. Best of luck to you.

Ive always been interested in aviation but went a bit different path so far, yet strongly concidering doing my ATPL licence and actually working as a pilot.
Will it still be a good time to start in 2-3 years (finishing my mechateonics degree as a safer and steadier plan)? Thinking about European Flight Academy by Lufthansa - is it any good as a school (or later hopefully an employer) for a non english nor german native speaker? Maybe you could recomend other schools in Central Europe?
    Thanks,
