Favorite fact about the death korps is that they are so zealous that they often bully imperial commissars for not being brave enough

Yea kreig commissars are often there for restraint and mediation between the kreig guardsman and other guardsman.
Krieg always want to fix bayonets, the commissars make them wait until its the right time.
Kreig commissars have the exact opposite job of other ones. Other commissars: “Charge or be shot” Kreig commissars: “Okay can you not charge for like 5 minutes”
They're so willing to charge and die that they'll make tactically unsound decisions just to do so. Commissars have to tell them that sometimes not rushing and dying is a more effective move.
I like to think the space marine at the end witnessing the explosion is like:
‘Damn, these guys are better at my job than I am’

What people like to forget that the sole reason the Kiregsmen are so suicidal is because they are NOT having fun. They live with self hatred and is taught that they are worth fuck all. They are having the LEAST fun in this universe. So the juxtaposition of the orks fighting the krieg, would be ironic indeed.

People talking about them being so young, you forget that for the vast majority of our time wars have been fought by young men. 18-20 would be fairly seasoned in most ancient militaries.
Not even ancient militaries i mean in my country conscription could start from the age of 17 and in ww2 (that also isnt that long ago) soldiers where even younger.

They COULD be part of the combatants at the teenage ages but all renowned warriors, soldiers are most famed on their prime which is around twenty and a little past thirty five.
On the contrary the youngest age groups combatants usually made up the most casualties in conflicts.

To die for the emperor is to be redeemed for the sins of his forefathers.
It's wild how one of the most badass regiments of the guard is just a bunch of brainwashed child soldiers in adult bodies. Just the implication that a child-soldier army would be equally as effective as other guard regiments, if not more effective depending on situation, really characterizes the imperium a lot.
All of them are badass. Cadians fight just as hard if not harder now since they want vengence for cadia, modrians fought off a complete chaos corruption of their civilian hivers, Tallarn FOUGHT OFF THE IRON WARRIORS TWICE. I remember watching a clip from Exidote where a Kriegsman beats a tau to death with a mace and one of the comments was asking why he didnt retreat for help.

despite being cannon fodder galore, death guard training has death rate of about 50%, making it one of the hardest if not the hardest training regimens of the guard in the galaxy.
Death Korps* the death guard are mortys boys also while a 50% mortality rate is high even for imperium standards it is not the hardest training that would go to the catachan jungle fighters most kids on catachan learn to shoot before they learn to walk. 80% of kids die before the age of 4 and 50% of that die by age 8. chaos has invaded catachan 3 or 4 times and every time the jungle fighters successfully defended the planet providing minimal defense as the jungle its self killed the larger portions of the chaos warbands before the jungle fighters could even get to them
If they're gonna die they have to atleast kill some enemies first so they have to train to prolong their feath to inflict the most ammount of the emporers will possible

It is a reflection of our society. We are nameless faceless masses, the only thing that sets us apart is how dedicated we can be to a cause, what we will sacrifice to serve that cause. Death is quick and inevitable, best to chose when and where it happens and to give everything in service to a legitimate god. If we had an actual God Emperor on earth, who could prove his worth beyond any doubt, you would see billions flock to his banner, just to be a part of something worthwhile.

@@guypierson5754 This is why ideologies such as nationalism exists, people need to have a purpouse in life and what purpouse is better than dedicating yourself to something that you love and that you know is going to be good for you, your close ones, your family and basically everything you care about. (And this is also the reason why nationalism is one of the most succesfull ideologies ever made because it mostly doesn't only make people want to sacrafice themselves for the greater cause but thier leaders aswell)

@@adrianmateo6196 Seriously dude just look up late WW1 French uniform. Add a gas mask and a spiked helmet. Embellish with Aquilla and Skulls and you're 90% of the way to a Krieg uniform.

Honest The Death korps of Krieg are my favorite Faction in Warhammer 40k. From lore about living in a nuked to hell waste land to quite literally not giving a fuck about their lives. They are a inspiration, no a myth, NO A LEGEND.
That’s the perfect music for the violent massacres of the enemies of the Emperor. Especially on some Death Korps

When you die,you get sent back to the front lines. Even if you die after arriving,it doesn't end and you get sent back to the front lines.
After all,no heaven or hell,not like you get sent anywhere else.
So you get to experience living in the Warhammer 40k universe for all eternity as an imperial guardsman fighting on the front line.
You also get to experience dying horribly as the xeno's demonstrate the many incredibly painful methods at their disposal to kill you.
The rusty saws of the Orks cutting you open like a fish,the Tyranids spraying you with acid, whatever the servants of Slaanesh will do to you.
(Let's face it,sooner or later one of them is gonna pegg you.)
Compared to that a bit of fire seems pretty pleasant to me.
Even if you get promoted or enhanced or whatever,when you die you get sent back to the front lines as a normal soldier again.
Also yeah it's like Valhalla. But no banquets and far more gruesome ways to die.

Death Korps of Kreig fills out the checkmarks in one of my favorite archetypes in fantasy/sci-fi, Regular Humans fighting powerful monsters and god-like men with nothing but their tenacity and sheer will.
I’m sure being born and grown in a vat at an abnormally fast rate is not a recipe for “regular humans”
And a shovel, you *cannot* forget the shovel.
That describes literally every guardsman in the imperium 😅 fodder that prevents being foddered by a sheer willpower
