Love the design of these guys, the gaz mask is british, the clothes are french, the helmet and the name (krieg = war) are german, really a concentrate of ww1.
@@lp.shakur The longcoat & trousers bears a striking resemblance to French WW1 uniforms. The helmet top shares a profile with the French Adrian helmet while the bottom part is clearly inspired by the German Stalhelm. The iconic gas mask is extremely similar to the British SBR Gas Mask used during the war. The bayonet is modeled after the American M1917 Bayonet. The Lasgun Model 98 is named after the German Gewehr 98 The breastplate worn by Krieg Officers and Death Riders is inspired by the French Cuirassier breastplate. It could be argued that Krieg is more French than German with the prior points stated. It doesn't stop there as even the way Krieg fights can be likened to French military doctrines. Krieg and France fight with attrition with similar cases being noted with Vraks and Verdun respectively. Krieg and Germany however don't share the same doctrines as Germany in our world simply can't monumental losses, instead opting for quick and decisive strikes such as the Schlieffen Plan and Kaiserschlacht Offensive
Just wanna point out how well executed the sequence at 4:10 is. Like, that's some textbook trench clearing. Throw a grenade, wait for detonation and immediately open fire. Don't wait for a target since if anyone survived that blast they aren't gonna give you a chance to take careful aim. Kinda small detail done really well
Everyone's talking about the sound effects, I love the little details: the trigger discipline, the proper tactics on both sides, and the easiest to miss; at around 4:26, while the traitor guardsman is emerging, he threw his rifle over his cover in the opposite direction that he emerged from as a distraction. And it WORKED. The Krieger's rifle barrel flinched towards the gun momentarily, which bought the traitor the seconds he needed to close.
exactly ! this whole video was so awesome with the little details in mind, the bayonet combat with the parry, turn and pull, the full auto to single shot switch before and then this distraction one aswell...
I didn't notice that. It made him miss because his aim was off by JUST that much cuz of the distraction. I love those "blink and you'll miss it" details that a lotta stuff has
My favorite thing about this is the small details you put into it, but most notably the sound of the las gun fire. That is probably the closest thing to what an actual laser would sound like, imo. Not the classic "pew pew" we all know but something more grounded. Well done.
I like to think the bang is the sound of the air in front of the barrel rapidly heating from the laser bolt, leaving a near-vacuum, that's then instantly clapped shut by air pressure. Like how lightnings get their sound but on a smaller scale
correct me if im wrong but i am pretty sure all the gun sounds are from tarkov, i hear the bullet cracks , m4 , heavy machine guns and grenades from eft

During the wwi trench wars they also used to create something they called the "Trench needle". It's essentially just a large iron spike. Easy and cheap to make but it makes for a far more effective weapon in the cramped conditions of a trench than the bayonet. Not quite as effective as the spade but much easier to produce, carry around and less cumbersome.
@@KingQwertzlbrmpf trench needles were quickly listed as a inhumane weapon and banned from all forms of warfare because of how hard it was to treat and heal the wounds it caused
@@sethgilcrist8088 I mean, yes, but that didn't do much to actually stop the usage of them. They were just too effective in combat and when it comes down to close combat nobody really cared much about such lofty ideas like humanity. The only consideration was to not be the one to die. Other inhumane weapons like for example poison gas are tactical or even strategic weapons and as such their use is a command decision. The trench needle on the other hand is a weapon for the lowly grunt in the trench. And the ease of production meant it's use could never be really much contained.

I don't like the krieg personally but that may be because they are meta. I just think other regiments do more while acting more human. Making their sacrifice more notable and their bravery stand out . I'm not going to debate but the likes of the cadians and the Mordian Iron guard seem better.
@@Guardsman_Greg Well ya know, that's because the Krieg do a much different job than other regiments. Their specialty lies in siege and attrition warfare, hence their love for artillery and trenches. For these sorts of situations, having cold, almost emotionless killing machines would be much better than humans who have to deal with morale. Not to mention the fact that when charging a heavily defended position they won't hesitate and get bogged down. At the same time they're also trained well enough to recognise whether they should charge the machine gun or not. Although they all want to die, having a meaningless death is also a waste. Most other regiments use maneuver warfare strategy, where you use strategic maneuvering to break enemy positions and cause great casualties in a single stroke. This involves dislocating and disrupting the enemy whether it be through strategic strikes on important targets or infiltration and surprise as well as subterfuge. The Kriegs on the other hand employ an attrition warfare strategy where they force the enemy into a conflict where in a more normal maneuver warfare scenario they would have the advantage but with them being bogged down in attrition warfare those advantages dissappear giving the Kriegsmen a chance to win against what would otherwise be a superior foe. Technically, the Cadians can also do the same as the Kriegsmen do and fight in an attrition war to great effect but unless the enemy forces are far stronger than the cadian force, a great achievement to be sure as the Cadians are some of the best warriors that humanity can produce, then leveraging their, in comparison to other regiments, better and more numerous equipment would be better done with a maneuver warfare doctrine. I'm not really sure about the Mordians other than their regiments being smaller but much more better equipped than the average IG force.

And it WORKED. The Krieger's rifle barrel flinched towards the gun momentarily, which bought the traitor the seconds he needed to close.

They actually used the entrenching tool as a weapon at the battle of Stalingrad in ww2. Great scene.
They also used anything and everything that could be sharpened or swung hard enough in ww1 for trench fighting

What I love about this is that it portrays the Guard as being a genuinely competent and well trained force. So many people frequently compare them to Astartes or Xenos and just assume that the IG are mere fodder and just bodies to add to the pile.
However people forget that in the spectrum of human soldiers in the Imperium, guardsmen are actually fairly high up and surpass many layers of recruitment beyond militia and PDF etc. As a result, it is actually refreshing to show them as being capable in combat and not just as meat for slaughter. These aren't just your average press ganged mongrels or desperate voidsmen. They are a dedicated and elite combat force and its good to see such depictions of the Guard.
"Mess with the best. Die like the rest" ^_^

Elite they are but they are canon fodder, even the Astartes afe canon fodder. That is what soldiers are especially those of the Imperium of Man.

You dont think the shovel action was classic guard meme?
@@Tophatism I didn't think you were referring to that. There's not really much in the way of depictions of Kriegers being anything but cold blooded killing machines. There are some memes of them but not commonly shown and more or less never depicted in video. So, I had no reason to believe you were referring to the shovel thing. Which is often less a meme and more the truth.
