We wanted to create something affordable, and capable and I think we've done it! Huge thanks to Utah Trikes for their help designing and manufacturing The Rig. We hope it brings as many miles of happiness, adventure, and exploration to you as it has done for us. Designing an affordable bike that happens to be accommodating has taken us more than a year and a half. Of course we plan on building and improving The Rig over the next few years. I am a handicapped Vet. After 3 years in a hospital bed, wheelchair, walker and cane, I built a trike. 24 inch, 1000 watt motor. I can get to the garage, I can take the Trike to the store, shop and come home. All without getting out if the saddle. I then started a project to build the trikes AT MY COST for other folks trapped in their house. I applaud your efforts to do this. I live ALONE with only my Service Dog and was depressed until I did this. I just wanted to help others in my situation. It was like being released from prison! I am thankful every day for learning how to do this. I am not depressed anymore!
Thank you for your service!!! Hang in there my friend!
Great story
I'm a disabled veteran and I have to say the world needs more heroes like you!! Most of us just get tossed aside when our time in service is complete. You're not only offering mobility...you're offering a lifestyle to people. After 18 years I finally got my power wheelchair. Maybe now I can start saving for one of your bikes and be able to go on bike rides with my wife and daughter. Thank you again for being a hero to a hero! lol
Too bad you aren't close to Pennsylvania brother, we'd love to have you along on a backpacking trip ,look us up if you ever want to go on an adventure

I’m also a para. The rig has changed my life. I tried one of the demo units and went places right around my house that I’ve never seen before.
I love how much Zack cares about repairability. Building the rig out of mostly electric bike parts is brilliant for both keeping costs down and keeping these things on the trails for many years to come. Well done, sir!
It also means that you could probably make this in your own home if you had access to a welder
I am 66 years old and I am also 100% disabled. I grew up on a spring fed river and I have been hear broken that I have been unable to get up and down the bank. Now I can! Being a Female Disabled Veteran is a bit isolating thank you for this wonderful invention.

As an engineer, I’d like to thank you for being directly honest about what your device can and can’t do. It’s sadly all too rare nowadays
Though all these things that the bike cant do can be overcame with a good engineering team and optimisation with materials and reduce weight and cost. I have many amelioration already blatant i could do on that electric vehicle like making the tires use not rubber but a plastic variant that requires no inflation and resistant to flat tire as used on mars rovers. Alot of other things but it would he too long to list them all, but they would make the cost and effectiveness even better than actual legs in all terrain.
You are doing a great job man....In today's world...no one does this much for their love....Keep it up brother....All the best🥳❤️

I've never actually commented on any UA-cam video before, but I have to say something about this. My 12 year old daughter has spina bifida and is paralyzed from the waste down. She also has severe scoliosis and is currently scheduled for a total spine fusion next year. I can't even begin to emphasis how hard it is to just find the necessary medical equipment. It took over a year just to get a new wheelchair to replace the broken down one she was using. However, it's always been bittersweet because we know how limited she still is in where she can go. We also know there is no way we could ever afford an actual off-road wheelchair. This is amazing and it gives us something to try to start saving for going forward. Hoping to see her riding around in one off these in the future. Thank you for putting your expertise to work in a beneficial way.

You are the only one to make the most needed wheelchair ever. You forgot to say, you do not pedal it is hand driven, and so helps a million issues, wow!!!!
A few thoughts for version 2.
These are some expensive suggestions so maybe they could come as extras...
1. 4wd or just front wheel drive as both are safer and it won't struggle so much in soft soil
2. If you can turn all 4 wheels at low speeds, it makes a huge difference in the turning circle radius, so it could even handle narrow corners.
3. One handed control.
4. Recuperative braking
5. Adjustable tire pressure with a compressor and tricky valves connected at the hubs or manually. Deflate if you want more contact area and inflate for flat road so it consumes less energy and makes even less noise...
This could mean too much tech, but nothing an arduino and some sensors can't handle.
Keep up the good work!
And a push bar add-on for when it gets stuck on the sand/light snow. That way someone can help out when things get slick or if it starts burying itself.
I'm all for the 4 wheel drive system.
4wd and front wd in my opinion would be unneccesary expenses (given the size/weight).
I was thinking also a sport version, higher top speed, roll bar, wider track width and firmer suspension.
Great, but still there's a lot of stuff to add to meet all of those safety requirements. Sit belts, safety frame in case this thing flips over (God forbid), head and rear lights etc. And well, be prepared that many good people will be happy to sue you in return. :) This last one seems to me the most important for the manufacturer these days..

What a thoughtful man to invent something to give his Love more mobility,. And the quite gives you a Natural Nature expeience
Respect, what a great machine. Brings back joy for many!
As an avid outdoorsman, I absolutely love this! EVERYONE deserves to experience the healing medicine of going deep into wilderness.
That's all I could think about when I watch this. There are so many people who are going to get to experience the beautiful outdoors for the first time and that is truly amazing.
Thank you from @Goodtimeswithscar youtube subscribers
What a beautiful story that’s just beginning. I do not claim to understand the full hardship of a person confined to a chair but I did spend 3 months in one. It opened my eyes to the hardships. You two are doing a wonderful thing. Now,,,, I come from the automotive industry and have been building things on 4 and 2 wheels for 40 years. This base model is perfect for some. But independent suspension and all wheel drive is a must for those who can afford it. The other thing I would mention is a seat that has a suspension of sorts to absorb vibration, it’s invaluable for the owners back. Thanks and I want to wish you good luck but you got this. P.s, your wife is absolutely beautiful. I wish the best to both of you. God bless and good luck.
Amazing, beautiful, and life-changing!
Hey Zack, I am a seven foot four man living in England, I have bilateral hip dysplasia and a degenerative disease in my spine due to my height. I'm 25, I can walk but not far and off road exploring is difficult for me maybe even impossible.
I can't order one due to living in a different country and I can't afford one either but I wanted to let you know that I appreciate your attention and efforts in improving the access to this beautiful planet.
Peace.

HA ! Just watched the dual bike assembly/first run video for the first time. My thoughts were: "These two would make a great a couple. I wonder if they've ever gone out together." Then immediately watched this video and was clearly correct on that point. Also thought "That duo-bike is sweet, but seems like it may tip. Her seat should be lower". I'm so awesome. So are you all. Great work on the quad. Outstanding.
Thank you. My 32 year old partial paraplegic would love this.
I think it should be named the "Cambry" after the beautiful muse that inspired it! It brings happiness and joy to those around it and greatly enriches the lives it touches just like Cambry. Seems like a perfect fit to me.
It's inspiring to see how two beautiful minds can turn something that people perceive as a 'disability' into an opportunity to do wonderful things for each other and to help so many other people have a greater quality of life too. Both of you are truly amazing!
I wish you both all the happiness this life has to offer!
