Before I purchased this conversion kit I looked all over the internet for possible flaws and the 1 common thing that people don't say is to lube it up. Don't have it dripping outta the gun but for sure every nook and crack is coated. 2000 rds later its had zero issues. Well well well worth the $$$.

Yes and there are kits out there that work great for fine tuning the bolt. With different springs buffers and weights. Its not the mag lmfao...

I've had mine for prob 3 years. Shot dry every other shot would not eject. Cleaned it and lubed it up same affect. Don't think I've ever shot a full or ¾ of a mag thru it without issue. Reluctantly got one for my dad a month ago. His immediately seated the bolt better than mine ever did ( I've always had to insert mag charge then recharge usually ejecting an unspent round) but his has exact same issues.

This is an FYI for everybody. A viewer suggested I look into the Blackdog Machine LLC mags for the kit. I ordered them in from Midway USA. They have a tighter fit, steel feed "lips" and a sliding load assist. 32 rounds, I have had NO issues and they drop free. I hope this helps

I a craft glue, E6000 on the mag, then used a dremel to file it down for my tight fit. It works well to hold the mag in place, but the mag does NOT drop free. I can train with this, pulling the mag out, but prefer to save time and reload by ejecting and grabbing the full mag at the same time. Thanks For Watching. I'm still a believer in this product.

I was hesitant at first to purchase, I have ran appx 3000 rounds thru 4 different ar setups
    Springfield ar saint victor
    Camden defense
    Anderson, and Aero precision.

Question, I have new model CMMG22 Conversion kit and when I pulled trigger the 1st time, -click-I had to pull charging handle 3 times before it fired and rounds were getting hung up and I had to remove those. I tried a lot of different stuff to get it to shoot or cycle to rounds correctly but nothing worked. Now the buffer spring is the one I installed for my AR 15 5.56. I spoke with a guy at the gun range and he checked things out and came to conclusion that the buffer spring was to strong and that was the problem -he felt. Anyone agree or have any advice? When I would load a 10 round mag, the most rounds fired without failure was 3 !

    • @PaPaDsRangeTimeWatts
      @PaPaDsRangeTimeWatts  3 роки тому +1

The CMMG has a captured buffer spring in the assembly, it does not use or need the buffer spring in the AR buffer tube. You can remove the AR buffer spring and give it a try, but I don't think that will help. I have contemplated cutting the captured buffer spring on the CMMG unit, but had success with keeping the mag pushed forward to allow proper feeding to the ramp. These kits like at least a 1250 fps bullet to cycle the round out. I used popsicle sticks in the rear of the magwell and had good luck with that. keep me updated on your progress.

@@PaPaDsRangeTimeWatts Thanks Sir, I'll try the things you mentioned tomorrow. On this site ,KAK , there's a interchangeable buffer tube that you can
make 3 differently buffer weights with 3 Aluminum, 3 steel, and anot6heavier metal
With zpacers and tips. You can make from 1.7, 2.2, and 2.6 .3 of each metal types but the wont work on heavy loads-they say. Some put 1 aluminium and 2 steel to make a buffer weight. There's a chart on their website. I just finished turning my 10 round
CMMG into a 25 round mag in 5 minutes. I'm sure you know about that. And I'm going to get strips of velcro to put on the front on each mag to stop wobble-maybe that will help ! I'LL keep you updated.

My had been working great since new. Now today I tryed in another rifle and it had one shot one misfire one after another. Tryi g to think of this means it’s the rifle or the bolt. Maybe it’s dirty enough now to have problems or maybe it’s the rifle because it had worked great in another. Hi m going to clean the bolt and try again. I was some decent ammo that had worked fairly flawless n another rifle b im thinking maybe it’s the particular trigger spring set in the rifle possibly since it was seemingly light striking

Your solution is a good idea for fresh PLASTIC magazine, but once your mag lips worn out due to excessive firing, it will start to Jam. I spent several mag from Black dogs, cmmg chiappa and other plastic mag and yet after sometime when the plastic lips of mag worn out, it start making a problem again. The problem solved when I used a mag with STEEL lips(available now in the market). But tha'ts one problem solved only. There are several failure that will arise specially if you are competing in shooting matches firing thousand of round in short period of time. loose Extractor, broken firing pin , hollow part of charging handle and broken bolt Fork. After solving these failures. it never occur to me again for so many years in practice and actual match until now. I love this conversion.

I recently purchased this kit, and it has been an absolute train wreck with the CMMG magazines it came with (red followers). The mags themselves are under-sprung, don't fit the mag well, and have about an 80% fail rate on the first round because the feed angle is off. I bought Bore Buddy springs and replaced all the mags with those...made no difference. Tried 5 types of ammo including Stingers and Mini Mags, to no avail. My last resort is trying an M&P 22 magazine...if that doesn't work I'm done with it and will go back to my 10/22...so frustrating

Just a question or two. Does the round feed into the chamber, does it eject when cycling the charging handle? Do you have a light primer strike on the bullet? Have you tried the Ammo in a different gun. If you have a light primer strike, what trigger are you running? Do you have another upper you can try the kit in? Does the bullet show signs of dragging or damage when you eject it. Is the CMMG kit new, or is it the early model? Has it ever worked. I had a Timmney trigger that just didn’t hit the firing pin hard enough to fire the round. I would love to help you work through this.

Thanks for watching, The "slack" in the mag in the magwell changes the angle of the bullet hitting the feed ramp. When forward, the angle is correct and the bullet feeds as expected in the chamber, when the mag is back the nose of the bullet hits the bottom of the feed ramp and bends the nose, which jams the process. Black Dog Machine LLC has mags with steel feed lips and are .060 larger, this tightens them enough to eliminate the jam. I can make the CMMG mags tighter, but they don't drop free on reloads. I run MANY rounds through the CMMG conversion kit, very fine products with a great warranty.
