I put together a 22lr upper with CMMG parts from Right to Bear and it worked great 99% of the time but once every hundred rounds or so I would pull the trigger and get an inexplicable light strike! When I pulled the bolt back on these light strikes I was surprised to see the cartridge would stay in the chamber as if the extractor wasn't properly engaged with it. The rim still had a good dent in it so I didn't think there was a problem with the hammer or firing pin. Seeing this video helped me piece two and two together and I believe the problem was caused by the bolt bounce leading to the bolt and extractor not fully engaging with the cartridge in the chamber, will be installing a weight and buffer to see if that solves the issue
Crazy how different our experiences are! I have NEVER had a light strike on my cmmg bolt instead I’ll get random bursts of 2-4 shots on one trigger pull. I’ve never shot an open bolt machine gun but I have to imagine its doing something similar to them cause it just feels like the bolt starts bouncing through shots

Have to tip my hat to y'all. This is really innovative and fits a niche.
Can't wait to get it.
Here's a thought, on the "buffer" have you thought of using an "O" ring?
Yes, we have seen that done, but the molded buffer seems to work better in our experience.
"innovative" isn't quite the word...

Great, but literally, how do i install it. I have the parts sitting in front of me but its not apparent how to install them
Slip it under the spring guide so the notches match up, no tools required.
Now where is the coupon
Will it work in a select fire gun?
vlodpg yes, it totally would
Yes it would sir
The Inja thank you
Yes, if you have the sear trip kit from CMMG.
Thanks for a very informative video. When do you anticipate the adjustable weight kit to be available again? Is it possible to add forward assist serrations to the weight kit? Would there be added benefit from using a recoil spring with a few more coils/extra power?
We expect more weights to be ready to ship on 12/24/2020. They will sell out very quickly. Contact us through our website for technical support questions.
@@BoreBuddy awesome!! So they should be available to buy tomorrow?
That'll be a nice Xmas present for myself, even if it takes a while to get here. I really like the idea of the adjustable weight so that I can fine tune it. I plan to set up my iPhone with slo-mo video, just like you have, so I can objectively see what works best. Also the design of your buffer tube plug is waaay superior to any of the others I've seen.
@@syrmo They are live for sales now! Go snag one, there are around 25 left as of now.
@@BoreBuddy how does the weight attach or how is it held firm against the back of the bolt? An install video would be awesome. Thanks for the replies. Happy holidays!!
@@syrmo It slips behind the bolt and engages a notch in the spring shroud. It's very intuitive once you have it in your hand. We are planning to make a video.

The BoreBuddy weights break and they refuse to stand behind them.
Failures are rare and we always cover them on warranty. Contact us and we'll get you a replacement right away.
By the time one buys a conversion kit, then buys all the items to make the conversion kit reliable one may as well just buy a dedicated 22lr. CMMG and all the other 22lr bolt makers should have got this right the first time. A dedicated 22 would be much more accurate too. Thanks for the video.
The video was actually made using a dedicated 22lr upper. They suffer many of the same flaws as the conversion kits. But we totally agree that starting by building a dedicated upper is the best way to go.
Even with the dedicated upper the variety of .22lr makes a kit like this really handy to improve reliability.
I agree I spent 600 for a cmmg and have all the same problems cmmg gives me a sweet talking but that's all they give if only I knew beforehand hopefully after following utube videos ill have fixed the dam pos no thanks to cmmg I now have two types of mags and a mag chamber gizmo that allows for the s&w mags and a pile of black dog mags that I thought might be the problem of stove piping now after stumbling onto this video I see whats going on money plus aggravation this has been.praise the lord.hallelujah...
@@late6812 We had the same struggle, but finally "cracked the code" for getting these kits running well and we started offering our solutions in the form of our products. We're happy to answer any questions through the contact info on the website.
