I love the part about the stickers ♥ it makes her so relatable and sympathetic. Also hearing her talk about buying cheap sketchbooks because she doesn't want to ruin the expensive paper... Girl look at ur awesome sketches....
Hey camera person - thanks for dropping the more artsy shots and focusing more on the sketches. I'm glad you took the criticism from other commenters on past videos well :)
@@Keropi41 Sure, but those videos were already edited a long time ago. I'd be surprised if they changed anything because of the comments is all I'm saying. :)
I've enjoyed her art for a while now, but now I'm a fan of her. Her saying she gets the cheap sketchbooks because then you don't have the pressure to draw something perfect is...perfect! It's how I've always looked at sketching and art in general.
I keep trying to work in a sketchbook, both hardbound and spiral and I just can’t do it. So now I’ve taken to drawing in cheap Mead 6x9 Plain Writing Tablet.
Love the way she fill the sketchbooks' covers with so many stickers and the inside with colourful pencil sketches. She's one of my fav artists in this series. She's not only good at art but also very inspiring as a person.
was just watching a similar interview with crash mccreery before this and he also expressed embarrassment about having to show his sketchbooks even though his stuff is super good (in a different way) too.
I put random stickers on my sketchbooks, too! Even stickers from fruits. I’ve never seen anybody do that, but her. I like how she says, “There must be somebody else in the world who does this, too.” 😆 I love her drawings! So inspiring!
I love this series and I love the close ups. Saw a lot of people complaining about the camera angles but the details and closeups are so good and it's good to watch an interview that isn't the person sitting still the same angle for half an hour
Woah I never knew someone actually struggle to draw from reference and prefer to do it from imagination instead. With those sketches there must be a hell of imagination running through her mind
I want to say somethings. First if all I want to thank THU for this amazing series. I am a surgeon who once ate talked and dreamt art. But routines and workload took too much away from me. Only recently had I embraced my connection with art in order to help others, which I hope becomes a think in the future... This series really encouraged me to pick up my sketchbook and get back at it. I don't know the artists you showcase but these platforms are great introductions to their works. I am infatuated with Claire's work. I see a familiarity to her work. Thank you for introducing me to all the amazing oeople
I’m so glad this channel exist these sketchbook videos are incredible. often I catch myself feeling inspired to sketch and keep creating during/after watching the videos. Thank you
I discovered Claire Wendling drawings with Shaan rpg illustrations. They are still amongst my reference drawings today. She's a master of graphical shortcuts...ok I actually had tears when I realised that we will see her actually drawing. Thank you.
I wish I could draw from memory - that I could picture anything in my mind. I can’t. I have Aphantasia. I have to use references. I am always so impressed when people can do this.
New subscriber here. Thankyou so much for these sketchbook series. Really inspiring to see all of these great artists talk and flip there sketch book. Loved it❤
She is a wonderful artist but the quick cutting editing is sooooo irritating in this film. The fascination is in what she's doing, and reflecting on what she's saying - not in the number of shots that the director can cram into 1 minute! A big lost opportunity! :(
It's one of the reasons I stopped watching all the way through. This is not a show reel for camera skills. The person and their story should come first. When your editing and camera work are so conspicuous and noticeable it takes away from the story.
The funny thing is, is that she buys these cheap sketchbooks and then makes them worth thousands of dollars. She is amazing and incredibly likable. I get what she's saying though. My most used sketchbooks are the inexpensive ones. You feel no pressure to make the drawing amazing.
Who is shooting this? The camera work is ridiculous. Her face and hands should be less than 10% of the video. And the weird angles, cuts, wtf...Also I don't want to hear the constant laughter of the girl in the background
Stop with the many "cinematic cuts" please. I find it hard to finish most videos because it's just so annoying you can barely appreciate the art. It's a shame because there're so many great artists that you bring and the idea is awesome, but you'd have many more followers if it was actually enjoyable to watch the video.
I don't get the giggles in the bg, it's not annoying per say but i feel like she's making fun of everyone 🥺 but yeah she's too kind and cute so i dont think that's what she means. It's good you guys started focusing more on the drawings, the idea is amazing but the target audience comes here to see the sketchbook so that should be like the main focus like 90% of the time
Cut the background lady out. Lower the mic sensitivity, if she has one take it away. We DONT CARE for her giggles, adds nothing to the series/video. I care about the artist, she's annoyingly distracting
I personally don't mind it. If anything it adds more character to the video, and makes the guests more comfortable in a more "casual" friendly setting. It's not like she's interrupting the guests or anything lol. Imagine how awkward it would feel for the artists if they had to sit in complete silence and talk without some sort of feedback, as insignificant as a giggle.
“Let’s pretend that I remember something” - incredibly relatable
Claire’s sketches are better than most artist’s finished work
This is true of hand-drawn animation too. The pencil tests (of the best animators at least) are always better than the final product. :)
I love the part about the stickers ♥ it makes her so relatable and sympathetic. Also hearing her talk about buying cheap sketchbooks because she doesn't want to ruin the expensive paper... Girl look at ur awesome sketches....
She's so friendly, funny and warm! All that crazy talent and not a drop of ego.

Well. Its natural to us humans to feel that emotion. Cause everyone is unique and you want to have what others have. Lol.

No surprise she's a designer for Disney, her style is absolutely beautiful.
I think Ifound my new favorite artist!! 😍😍 so flabbergasted- does she really draw all of these without reference??
Love love love this!!!
I've just heard someone who understands horse anatomy as well as Frederick Remington or Heinrich Kley say that she can't remember how to draw horses.
