    8:07 I definitely agree with having ready to use tools. I love watercolors, but I think they can be a hassle sometimes, and pencils and pens are always ready , easy to bring and they don't require drying time.
    Also, when I buy a paper that wasn't as great as I thought it was, it often fits with another medium.

    Great video with Eliza. I have recently started doing references from videos, so it's good to know an actual pro does the same. Also, I get very hard on myself if I don't practice daily, there is that urgency. Good to know that I'm not crrazy and pros are like that as well. Those pentel red tip leads for the mechanical pencils are beautiful.

  • @piorism
    @piorism Місяць тому +1

    One thing I'd love to hear more about from Eliza is her preliminary curating process for the references used on these. By that I mean : does she have a folder ready filled with already selected images, queued up for use for the next study session whenever time allows (therefore the session is more about assembling/interpreting them in interesting ways, rather than looking for them) ? Or is this more of a completely random instant pick from some various sources (Proko pose libraries, various books and websites, IG posts ...) and then "making it work" ?
    I think this would be very interesting to talk about as such prelimnary curating steps seem fundamental here and certainly do take some time and ressources, as this is much more than just random sketchbook jotting.
    Thanks !

    • @ProkoTV
      @ProkoTV  Місяць тому +1

      We're recording something with Eliza soon that may answer some of those questions.
      It won't be out for a while but I'll see if I can get those questions in.

    • @piorism
      @piorism Місяць тому

      @@ProkoTV Hello, appreciating the reply !
      In the meantime I'll definitely try out a few things to figure it out. I am used to collecting/curating references specifically for a future planned task or a specific project, but never done so as a sketchbook prep - and thinking about it now this seems quite liberating. Perhaps even printing out a few ref sheets in advance for future use, to slide at the end of the sketchbook, ready to go ...
      Thank you for all the hard work !

    • @ProkoTV
      @ProkoTV  Місяць тому +7

      Fitting that kind of practice in can be hard. But if you can set aside the kind of time that you mentioned for it, it can be a good respite from all of the other things you have to do as a parent.
      We hope you're able to give that a try at some point!

    I've just started drawing for realsies. I draw every day. But it's the same thing. The human anatomy, faces bodies , boobs... you know, the usual😅. But I'm not learning anything new from it. What do you suggest i draw? I saw where someone said they draw all the different Pokémons. What else could be a good subject?

    • @VictorianEvening
      @VictorianEvening Місяць тому +1

      I suggest drawing the figures in a setting. Backgrounds are a subject all by themselves. If you feel like you’ve plateau’d with figures, try putting them in a scene. Draw a woman drinking coffee in a kitchen. A man or child in a market. It will allow you to keep hoping your figure drawing while learning new textures and adding a sense of story.
