Hi Maangchi, this is your second recipe I made for my husband and I. It was so delicious that I saw him pack it for lunch which he normally doesn't. His co-worker was very interested and my husband shared the radish ball with him, he also said it was delicious. Thanks for sharing recipes with us, we really enjoy eating Korean food but it's quite expensive so being able to make it ourselves is such a relief.

I'm sitting in the hospital with a severe kidney infection watching this so I asked my sister to get your cookbook that I got for Christmas, and make this for me. My night nurse and the crew keep coming into my room to watch another video with me. I'll let you know how there's turns out. Hehehe. I look up and I see dislikes and cannot understand what it is they dislike. I've been watching it over and over and I cannot see a moment that would cause me to do just like instead of like. It just baffles me. SMH. You are cute, encouraging, funny... I can't wait to get out of the hospital so that I can try the recipes myself. Thank you so much for being so giving! Love you my dear friend! One of the nurses said that when he gets his cookbook he will make something for the whole ward so I'm letting him borrow my cookbook so that he can pick out recipes to try! I made it several weeks ago with just beef ribs, carrot and jujube. It turned out so delicious! My husband asked all beef prepared this way going forward. I finally have radish and chestnut for the authentic recipe today. It's in the instant pot now.

Also, a friendly reminder to anyone reading this that ginkgo nuts (sometimes referred to just as ginkgo or ginkgo biloba) can mess with certain medications!! Quick google search or call to your doctor can let you know if you should be cautious with this food! I’ve never had it but I would love to try it!
They can also bring on an adverse reaction in children... also adults if you eat too many. I believe I read that 7 per serving is about as many as you should eat.

As a pharmacist, just skip it. Probably hard to find anyway. It’s sold as a supplement in America as a supplement (in the health aid department).

I have been dealing with cancer for a year now and the depression can be overwhelming sometimes and just pop up randomly, I can always feel a bit better by watching one of your videos! @younerl I make a cup of tea every day using dried reishi mushrooms. I talked to a Chinese herbalist in Philly Chinatown and came home with a huge bag of these! Bitter, but well worth it if it helps ward off the cancer cells! I'll look into those as well though, thank you!

t's perfect because the ribs steamed with chestnuts, ginkgo and jujube. It is an indispensable dish for Korean holidays. The appetizing visuals are so fantastic. 😃
I gotta tell you. The radish is more important than the beef. It’s so delicious after - soaks up all the sauces and is more favorable than anything else. You only really need carrots and daikon. The mushrooms where a nice touch but most Koreans don’t put the other stuff in unless you want to get fancy. But use as much radish as you can fit in. It’s so good.

I'm making this tonight for my family's Valentine's Day dinner. I couldn't find gingko nuts at the international market, but every other ingredient was available; including the fresh chestnuts. I love that the carrots and radish are round.
Cutting the veggies into balls makes things different. It improves the presentation so much.

Fun fact.
In Singapore we have this dessert called qing teng. We will have ginko nuts inside. As it is a sweet dessert, we will remove this core from the ginko nuts so that it will not have a bitter after taste. 😁

Wonderful recipe and really not so hard to do. But....the best part of this video (like all your other videos) is to watch you eat what you cooked! That's when you are funny and so real, like an aunty I never had 🤩 happy cooking and love from Hong Kong!
