I used to think the 350r was great on back roads and then I drove an mx5. The Miata was born for back roads! I personally love the 350r for big race tracks with a lot of turns.
I purchased a 2019 350R new and added it to my collection. It’s an amazing piece of machinery. This Mustang has to be driven. Its not the kind of car that drives itself. It’s Extremely responsive. It drives like a slot car. The Voodoo is extremely responsive. It has enough power, not too much. If I had to drive a car every day, I’d probably pick the 500 Track Pack. This is my first Mustang and I don’t think I will be selling it soon. I have put 4,800miles on the car in 5 years. Very happy with this automobile.
I just can’t stomach trading my GT350 for the GT500. The driver engagement with the manual, the addictive sound is just to satisfying. In my Shelby group locally there are a few 500 owners. They are very nice, and the power is fabulous, but the extra 400 lbs and the dial on the console just doesn’t appeal to me enough.
Im the same with my 350. I’m never getting rid of it but I’m off to go drive it now. Haven’t driven it all week and it’s finally not windy or cold to drive. I miss the sound of it😂. ✌🏻
The GT350R with twin turbos is the ultimate car to have. Brenspeed did a Whipple on at GT350 last week, 890HP on E85. Now the R is track car so with 900HP it would be the ultimate.
Not harm intended here, but the aluminator that is in your Superformance cars is cross plane based, basically a 5.2 version of the 5.0 where as the GT350’s Voodoo is a flat plane crank is unique to it and was really only sold as a ford part to replace engines in the GT350. I think the wildest aspect is the Aluminator is making power at 8k with a cross plane crank as opposed to the flat plane. Also, perfect spec on that R, never ever sell that thing
GT350 all day every day and twice on Sunday. 1. MANUAL 2. Raw, engaging and pure driving experience 3. Naturally aspirated flat plane crank V8 4. Almost every gt350 I’ve ever seen that has more than 15k miles has had blown a motor or trans, gen 1 and 2, now the gt500 is bulletproof and is why it’s the winner for me, reliable performance … I don’t like the idea of short term reliability
Fantastic video! Random question, which model Diono car seats do you have in both cars? Have a toddler I'd like to bring along for rides more often and have had trouble finding a seat that fits properly. Had a Recaro seat at one point that fit perfectly but they are impossible to find now.
I actually have no idea on the 350R. I bought it this way. Sorry I don't have more info for you as I thought it was a factory option 😂 The GT500 is not an R so the rear seat is stock from the factory
@@VINGIGGSGarage Sorry I should of specified, i was referring to the child seats in the back. I'm actually shopping as we speak, I was looking for a Gallardo LP Superleggera, Huracan LP 610-4 or 458 Italia and ended up researching these cars as it would allow me 2-3 cars for the price of one essentially without the ridiculous upkeep. This includes low mileage perfect examples. I've owned a couple Shelby Mustangs prior, but not these two. GT350R imo is the best performance car Ford ever produced that wasn't a Ford GT. Really bummed they went away from the flat plane crank on the new S650. The 20+ GT500 is basically in Supercar territory. I have some other cars in my consideration, C6 ZR1 and Camaro ZL1 1LE. But, I love my Fords. We'll see where I end up.
I’m a very small man.. Are either of these cars practical for driving, for someone short?? If you have any info let me know anyone!! I will be in the market for a new car within a year or 2.
Would have been nice to have the camera at least facing forward we can hear you still, it just depends on your expectations, and what you’ll mostly use it for to make a choice between the two, I kind of lean more toward the 350

@@VINGIGGSGarage I thought that was the same car I looked at. I was conflicted between a regular GT350 and an R and when I saw that car I knew I had to have the R. I wanted the back seats for my kids as well. I thought about asking the dealer to reach out to the buyer to see if they wanted to sell them, lol. I ended up with an R sans rear seats so I’m on the hunt.
The performance of the gt500 cftp bests multiple 6 fig cars, the gt350, it’s not even close. Plus almost every gt350 engine has failed, the voodoo is flawed, hence discontinued, they break way to frequently. This is why gt500 is king, ppl build 1300hp on stock block no problem.
Had a 2019 GT350 and the car felt underpowered from day one. The lack of power in the lower rpm range made the car boring to drive. Trying to stay in the powerband 6500+ is awful on the street. GT500 has power everywhere and can put it to the ground.
It’s like comparing a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke. Do you want to have to stay in high in the RPM’s to get the power or do you want it all over? Me personally, I want it all over.
As a 350 owner, I'm biased, but instead of the 500, I could buy a GT, slap a supercharger on it, buy the carbon wheels, have a manual option and $40k left in my pocket
I get what your saying but thats not even remotely the same, the GT500 is a built 5.2L as well a different suspension. You cant compare the two at all.
No? Once any supercharger is installed on the 5.0 it'd have right around 750 hp, you can get magneride on the GT, purchase the carbon wheels and, like I said, still have $30k in my pocket...
Hmm if they were both sticks it might be a more difficult choice. Seems to me the GT500 is a better street light to street light car and the GT350 is a better road car and that's what I'm after. Now just to check out the '25 super snake....:)
We took both cars on a supercar rally a few months ago. The GT500 held up just as well as the GT350R in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Epic! I passed on the Super snake, I received a Mustang GTD allocation 😀

Hello. I am a recently new millionaire and this helped me a lot with my decisions. I wanted to zoom in on something you said when you compared the GT500 to even the more expensive cars like the Lambo and Porsches. Does it give you the same overall thrill as those cars? I imagine it doesn't rotate like the Porsche does. But, as I have experienced so far, the car compensates for its weight quite well. Please let me know if this GT500 I just bought is good enough a car to help me not buy something much more expensive and exotic. I love the attention it gets. I didn't get the CFTP.
People complain about fuel consumption in the GT500, but if you drive it normal it’s not bad. I get an average of 21 mpg and about 230 mile out of a tank. No, it’s not a Prius, but I didn’t buy it for fuel mileage 😂🏎️
Performance wise the 350 isn't touching the 500. Also I bought the GT500 knowing I was going to modify it. Had I bought a 350R I would have felt obligated to keep it stock. So I guess it no only depends on what you prefer but also what you plan on doing to it.

The gt500 CFTP should be compared to the GT350R. The carbon wheels make a huge difference. A base gt500 is not going to handle close to a 350R. Also the sofa seats kill the experience for me. Recaro's are the way!
The gt350r is not a practical everyday driver, as a daily I would never get it. The gt500 is the choice but purely on experience, joy and fun? The gt350r is by far the batter option. Nothing is as special of an experience like a gt350r

I thought it was 8500 ?? 🤔🤔
Thats insane, I love it!
If I had to drive a car every day, I’d probably pick the
500 Track Pack.
This is my first Mustang and I don’t think I will be selling it soon.
I have put 4,800miles on the car in 5 years.
Very happy with this automobile.
Owning the 350R is like being in 2 different time periods at once. Vintage meets modern all in one beautifully designed piece of machinery
Agreed!
Enjoyed it guys…great idea!
I LOVE THE CHILD SEAT IN THE BACK! LOL!!!!
😂😂
Both are jaw-dropping. GT350R for me. On what tires is it?
Great video gentlemen 👍🏻🇺🇸
I just can’t stomach trading my GT350 for the GT500. The driver engagement with the manual, the addictive sound is just to satisfying. In my Shelby group locally there are a few 500 owners. They are very nice, and the power is fabulous, but the extra 400 lbs and the dial on the console just doesn’t appeal to me enough.
Im the same with my 350. I’m never getting rid of it but I’m off to go drive it now. Haven’t driven it all week and it’s finally not windy or cold to drive. I miss the sound of it😂. ✌🏻
Fun tip, you can hold both paddle shifters down for neutral reving in the gt500
The GT350R with twin turbos is the ultimate car to have. Brenspeed did a Whipple on at GT350 last week, 890HP on E85. Now the R is track car so with 900HP it would be the ultimate.
I absolutely love how the 350s engine is modeled after a Ferrari engine. It’s soooo much more than just a mustang.
1. MANUAL
2. Raw, engaging and pure driving experience
3. Naturally aspirated flat plane crank V8
4. That SOUND 🎵🥁
Once you get away from the manual transmission, the only thing an ev track focused car is missing is the sound - look how good the Ioniq 5 N is on track.
Sounds like you got a great deal on your 500 - grats man - jealous - best color
My Daily driver is Manual Mach 1. I'm hoping to make a Shelby my Weekend fun car. Great video, anyone have recommendations for a good place to buy a used Shelby?
Sorry I don't have more info for you as I thought it was a factory option 😂
The GT500 is not an R so the rear seat is stock from the factory
@@VINGIGGSGarage Sorry I should of specified, i was referring to the child seats in the back. I think they look to be Diono brand but mainly curious what they are as i've struggled getting a child booster seat in that fits in the back. I had a Recaro that fit well but those are tough to find now. Love the content man!
Let me know where you end up! These are all great choices. A Gallardo lp superleggera would be sick too! On my list alongside a murci
How is there a car seat in a GT350R?
Hey bud a Steeda clutch spring makes the clutch far more linear in the 350/R’s
I’m a very small man.. Are either of these cars practical for driving, for someone short?? If you have any info let me know anyone!! I will be in the market for a new car within a year or 2.
I own HR067 which is the exact same spec as your R. I'll never sell it. Best Mustang I've owned.
Nice video guys.....well done....
Would have been nice to have the camera at least facing forward we can hear you still, it just depends on your expectations, and what you’ll mostly use it for to make a choice between the two, I kind of lean more toward the 350
That actually really helped me make my decision. I’m guying the GT500. Let me know if you ever sell yours jk!! Thanks for an amazing video guys.
Wait, didn’t you say in another video you sold the 350r in a day of listing it?
I own a gt500 cftp car and the biggest disappointment is that it just doesnt put that power to the ground and when it does its in a way that tries to kill u. Still love it though.
Did you get the 350R in Chattanooga? If you did, I’de love to have the rear seats.
Yes I did! I take my kids to school in the car so having rear seats was a must
@@VINGIGGSGarage I thought that was the same car I looked at.
I wish you had the GT500 track pack as that is much more like for like
The performance of the gt500 cftp bests multiple 6 fig cars, the gt350, it’s not even close.
Great point!
It’s like comparing a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke. Do you want to have to stay in high in the RPM’s to get the power or do you want it all over? Me personally, I want it all over.
GT500, just bought my 2nd
As a 350 owner, I'm biased, but instead of the 500, I could buy a GT, slap a supercharger on it, buy the carbon wheels, have a manual option and $40k left in my pocket
Very true !
Autotopia la brought me here! Subscribed
Great video. Next time put cameras looking out the front and back of each car so you can see what the other looks like driving in the road
Will do!
@@VINGIGGSGarage Wow yeah the GTD is a bit over my budget..Big congrats to you though for getting in the que!!! That should be an incredible ride!!! As for what car I'll wind up with...haha I'll probably change my mind 10 times by next May so....I do like the raw sound of the GT350 though..:)
I've never been a fan of the last gen GT500, but that's not to say it doesn't deserve to be. Its an incredible performer, especially on the track. It's incredibly fast! The GT350R is my halo car just to sit in the garage. Why? Because its just a matter of time before that engine destroys itself. It is the prettiest sounding exhaust in an American production car ever.
why not just go for the CFTP 500?
Pull both paddles on wheel and you can rev. No need to go in neutral.
yeah ive been having a harder time trying to afford one. ill come back to this vid in 20 years. thank u
I own The R And it is a completely different game I love manual cars period.. can’t own an automatic sports car ,my next toy will be a manual new Vette when they wake up and make a manual or I will buy a 458! Daily anything DC
to rev gt500 you don't have to put in neutral just pull both paddles back
U wake up everyday recently and take knee and ask the gods for help to keep me and my family safe healthy and fed right after I ask
For gt500 working really hard to get one using this vid as inspiration
Have a great day everyone
The gt500 CFTP should be compared to the GT350R. The carbon wheels make a huge difference. A base gt500 is not going to handle close to a 350R. Also the sofa seats kill the experience for me. Recaro's are the way!
GT350R all day, every day.
The gt350r is not a practical everyday driver, as a daily I would never get it. The gt500 is the choice but purely on experience, joy and fun? The gt350r is by far the batter option. Nothing is as special of an experience like a gt350r
I daily drove my GT350R for 17,000 miles. It’s actually really good. Rides well, lots of trunk space, can be quiet. Only downside would be heavy stop and go traffic. But that’s any manual.
@@cmweek19 do you live in a warm weather state? I could not imagine driving mine through the cold, rainy, snowy months. It’s just not a fun car to drive normally.
@@GC-ti1vzthat’s any rear wheel drive sports car. You’re driving a damn GT500 in the snow?
@@Sloimer lmao that’s true haha! Hell no I’m not driving a 500 either lol!
@@GC-ti1vz lmao ok I thought I was losing my mind
Now I am hooked on fords lol 😂
GT350R hands down
I would 100% take the 350r over the 500 my budget got me a 2023 Mach 1
Gt 500 , more reliable for SURE!!!
lol based on what??
@@Twinscrewgt make a quick research and you will find out; engine failure it’s a very well documented problem with the 350 ( everyone knows that) , the 500 has better reliability: better “internals” and less vibration, so now I’m supposed to laugh back? Ok 😂
@@orlandonoche been running mine 800+ hp for 2yrs. Zero issues.
@@Twinscrewgt and good for you ; still the 500 motor is way better !!! not that “fancy motor “ but still…..good luck!! enjoy your machine!!!💪 so far my 760 hp 500 stock with a warranty is smoking most of the “competition “ 🤝( and most of 350s out there for sure) 👍
@@orlandonoche lol did you just brag your boosted 5.2 is smoking gt350s. lol it should. It has almost 200hp. The 350 is lighter and more agile than the 500. The 500 is a bad ass car. But the 350 is all business on a track. To each their own.
I choose GT350R for 6 speed manual
Having owned both for years. I can confirm same results. GT350R is epic and Motorsport theater. GT500 is a highway eating gorilla
Whipple Supercharged GT350R if only one is allowed.
Saleen Mustang black label imo is better
I wonder how many motors failed on the gt500 compared to the 350?....no comparison IMO. Yes, some people...love the sound of the 350. That is all subjective. Me...when they first came out, I went to check them out and asked the salesman to start it up. When I heard it, I walked away. As far as the 350 being like on rails...lol...look at the track times with both of them from factory...I don't think so. Case closed ....mic drop!
They can both feel like they’re on rails and there’s a 250 horsepower difference
This shop swapped a 6 speed manual into a 2020 Shelby GT500…road test footage too. ua-cam.com/video/h8I-sZN8rIE/v-deo.htmlsi=Jl7mG__skmSboWh-
Damn 80k for a gt500. Miss those pre Covid prices. U want a 500 now ur lookin at 140
they're both great but the GT500 is the big dog, and it has a much better transmission.
Currently have both. A boosted GT350 is the way to go and the only choice IMO!
Turbo or supercharged is the ultimate question!
Supercharger for sure. Turbos have too many parts that can and will go bad. They can also make the car difficult to keep cool why driving it hard. And I haven’t even gotten to the turbos leaking oil…superchargers are simpler and easy to maintain.
GT 350 R for me over the ford performance gt500
Two great cars but there is still one out there the brand new 24 Shelby Limited addition I believe 250 very long list to get on
It’s a GT with a whipple, the true super snake has been gone since 2014.

Really. Stay long term
Manual over automatic any day.
GT350R, no question. The GT500 is kind of a let down without a manual. I mean who buys a GT500 as a daily?
I did. The 500
Is actually really good. Rides well and can be used practically in traffic. Then fun on open spots.
That’s like ppl saying the gt3rs and gt2rs are let downs because they only come with dct… yea no one’s saying that, only broke’ys are saying that lol
I have the R but I think the Mach 1 may be the best in between car. I love my R .
How can the 350 EVER be considered as a top mustang, when by far the most unreliable mustang EVER PERIOD.
Damn!
