Herman Miller has been the “Rolex” of Ergo-Chairs since the 90’s.. Bank Of America purchased hundreds of Herman Miller chairs at $2500 each for a call center back in 1999 for employees to make sure they could be comfortable for an 8 hour shift. Amazingly they did their job and they looked fantastic.
@@duppa you know how that goes, we laughed when we heard what they paid too, but it was a state of the art call center that companies used to fly in and tour. The server rooms had halon fire systems and the telephony equipment they used was state of the art for the time. Then suddenly a sewer line break under the slab of the building forced it to close the entire center down a year after spending those (at the time) predatory overdraft fees from customers that funded it all.
I have this chair (high back, night blue), and it’s great. I can sit on it for hours, and the leaf arms are very comfortable. I’m 6ft tall, 80kgs. I work remotely from my computer. My previous chair was the human scale mesh chair, and the HM Cosm is a great upgrade.
I went to try out the embody at my local distributor and they had the cosm there. I tried it and it felt amazing. It was the Highback and adjustable arms. I was very impressed. Even though it has almost no adjustments it was very comfortable. I am also in IT and I need to find a chair that I will use 8 - 12 hours per day. I am going to check out the Haworth Fern on monday.
They use these high back Cosm (in Black) at Tesla offices in Texas. You can see Elon sitting on one during interview with Sandy Munro. I have the Glacier blue. It's nice. It's light as well. The Aeron feels twice as heavy, although you can't go wrong with the classic Aeron chairs. My aeron lasted 20+ years.
I recently got a job where I will be working from home and have been watching your videos, searching for the right chair. I really love the content man. Thanks for all the good info! You just earned a subscriber and I don't subscribe to anything! Cheers

Seeing a lot of comments about the leaf arms. When I was considering purchasing mine, I decided that while the Leaf arms look cool, I was buying the chair for workstation functionality. The adjustable arms (that were an option from the dealer) have been very good for my use case. Back support is the best of any chair I have ever tried. I sit weird, though - I keep a footrest under my desk (an ottoman specifically chosen because it is the same height as the seat pan at my ideal height - so I can stick my legs straight out and have them fully supported). Definitely not a chair for everyone - you're either gonna love it or hate it. But for my use case, it's been surprisingly great.
There is a Herman Miller store 5 minutes away from my home, so I got to try all of their chairs. The Mid-back version of this chair with adjustable arms is the best chair on the market as of 2024. I used to have an aeron and an embody, but this one is way better than both of them. Please get the mid-back version. it's much more comfortable than the high-back version.
This chair gets so much unwarranted hate. The leaf arms are definitely not the right way to build it, but the height adjustable arms are so much better. The auto harmonic recline mechanism definitely eliminates the need for several different types of adjustments and the experience is a lot more seamless.
I got to try out the Herman Miller chairs at one of their stores recently. I didn't care for this one, and the salesman told me that it's been kind of a flop for them. He said about 9 out of 10 buyers go for either the Aeron or the Embody. I liked the Embody much better, so that's what I'll be ordering. The only thing that kills me is the 16 week wait for most of the colors.

I prefer the Cosm to the Aeron and far prefer it to the Sayl, Mirra and basically all others. I got mine in glacier which looks amazing. You need to get the adjustable arms though.
Im honestly caught in between the canyon red & midnight blue one in the mid back (white being the safer option but boring) also can’t decide between adjustable arm rest or leafy arms (they look so nice but dont seem as practical)
Ohhh midnight blue. Damn, that's sexy too. TBH, I only got the red bc I needed it to POP on camera! I think the blue is a sexier choice for every day use and pairs better with most setups! Also, don't do leaf arms. Please trust me on this one lol. If you decide to pick up online and you're in the USA, please consider using my link. Helps the channel a LOT! Thanks!
This seems to be a heavily form over function kind of chair. I'm not saying it's bad, but for the price you pay there are much more better options out there. Looks sick though.
I got a Secret Lab soft weave chair for my office. I work in IT , so I spend 8 to 15 hours a day in my chair. When I first got it, it felt too hard, but it quickly got broken in and having it five months, I am totally happy with my purchase.
Hey all, I'm really on the lookout for solid chairs for tall people. Then again, I'm 5'11" and 155lbs so that might be why it still feels too firm
Good job! Can't wait for a Haworth Fern review. I really want to know your opinion and get an in depth take. 'Cause that chair is $$$ but that customizability + aesthetics mmm. :'o
Love my Cosm - was unreasonably excited to see this in my sub feed. I don't quite agree with things listed as cons in the review since some of them are big reasons I got mine in the config that I did - Nightfall, Highback, Leaf Arms. I actually got a full week to try out the Aeron, Embody, and Cosm side by side in my house thanks to the AD I went through and the Cosm was the only one I could sit in for a full work day, likely due to the more flexible lumbar support. Because the leaf arms are angled and further back, when coupled with the AHT they serve to level them out with your table, unlike the Aeron arms which lift up at the front when you lean back. Also, regarding AD's and Pricing, through an AD you can get the Cosm down to around the price of an Aeron through that same AD anyway. Still, great video!
Hey I am ALWAYS ok with people disagreeing! Everyone is different. I used a Humanscale Freedom back in the day (similar concept - no controls) and it DESTROYED my back. Hope people are able to see this to get a different perspective!!
Yeah that is a little annoying on the Aeron, though having your arms move with you adds to the floatyness. And with an adjustable desk it’s not as big a deal. But I was really interested in the Cosm at first. I think it is by far the best looking chair you can buy. Hope it continues to serve you well
I got the Aeron recently and loving it so far, got it for $635. It also came with a headrest which Herman Miller should make by default I think. I was going to get the cosm but it was out of stock on Herman Miller. Didn't realize there are zero controls other than the height. Was just wondering if Cosm was better than Aeron in terms of ergonomics and comfort.
Great video, you have convinced me it is not a chair worth getting. I still haven't found a worthwhile chair for sitting cross-legged on as a 19 stone 6ft 2 broad-shouldered guy. At this point, I am not sure anyone has created anything that caters to those needs.
The cosm is a very underrated chair, and i suspect it flops because it doesn't have 32 useless settings that you fiddle with all day. Love mine, it's MILES ahead of the aeron.
Hm I would say mid-size! If you really want that full back experience! If you decide to pick up online, please consider using my link! Helps this channel a lot!!
Thank you so much for the reply! I’ve try them all today, and was amazed by how Aeron supported my back! The low and mid back Cosm are both great too:) But my back that suffering pain now is screaming Aeron to me. Thanks again for the recommendation:)))
LOL....I'm speechless....give me 30 seconds though, and I'll find out. HAHAHA jk but in all seriousness, because the arms can't move out of the way, not ideal...
NO YOU DIDN'T!!!!.... I was subbed to this channel because of hundreds of reasons, but the most important was to have the review of this chair, but you answered me that you couldn't know if it would be done one day, and i was almost hopeless at that point... But now that's the video, and i couldn't be more happy than this, waiting for it for ages... THANK YOU
@@xenuone509 i already did and i'll do it again, but there are 3 main problems: 1- in my country, the embody logitech, the one i'm interested in, is not on physical stores, so i cannot test it in any way (i tried the normal one, but i cannot test things like the noise of the logitech one) 2- i cannot test the chair on a long term, and while the cosm seems a magic carpet cloud when you first sit in it, it could be worst every hour after (as him said) 3- i try to get as much information from reviews, but the thing is so personal that the best method to choose one is to buy all the chairs you want and after trying them intensively for some days, get the refound on those you didn't like... But i don't have that much money to spend on this trick😅
I think that the reason your back is hurting is because you are trying to sit up straight in the chair like it's a normal office chair. This chair is supposed to be at a permanent recline. It's more of a lounge chair than an office chair in my opinion. If you just let yourself fall into it then your entire spine will be supported. It sort of feels like a high-end hammock
@@Ahnestly Yeah, the angle that it wants to put you at is more conducive to watching a TV show than typing on a keyboard. It's great for relaxing but a bit difficult to use for serious productivity.
My #1 chair right now is the Herman Miller Embody. It's my daily driver. If you decide to pick up, please consider using my link! Helps this channel a LOT!
I'm from Europe and honestly my biggest issue with Herman Miller is sizing. I don't know whats with this brand but people above 6 feet are considered giants by Herman Miller and 6 feet is average man height in my country.
Are you Dutch? I mean Herman Miller is an American company, and the average height of men in the USA is 1.77m (5 feet 8 inches). Give them a break lol, they're not the only top chair brand that will struggle to cater for taller people.
@@StardustLegacyFighter i think another problem is a lot of people actually dont sit right in their luxury chairs im 6´2 and the size b areaon fits me perfectly
Still Aeron (Remastered) gang but the Cosm is a freakin beautiful chair man. Especially in red. Best looking chair I’ve ever seen. Aeron takes the L on this one I’ll have to admit
I tried this at my local store. The adjustable Mirra 2 with the fabric mesh is still my dream chair 😏 I am currently using the Setu which is basically a half-height Cosm. Any update from Ergotune?
Interesting review. I dunno man, I couldn't be more disappointed in the Cosm. It seems like Herman Miller's love of mesh aesthetics that they've cultivated beginning with the success of the Aeron have come home to roost with the Cosm. You made an interesting point about the shoulder support, but I think I'd rather be able to stretch my arms unrestricted behind my back. This is form over function in a serious way. I know you like the Aeron, but have you had a chance to try Herman Miller's older padded chairs like the Ergon 3? They are awesome, and the only thing they are lacking is some of the more advanced tilt control of the more recent chairs. For $2K, Herman Miller could've made an amazing padded chair (and probably quite a beautiful one too). Look at chairs like the Herman Miller Taper. Those are expensive, but they seem a lot more ergonomic than this chair. Anyway, it's great to have someone with an eye for ergonomics like you do a review of something, because I wanted to make sure I appreciate any innovations that this chair is introducing. Thanks.
The Taper chair is not ergonomic at all, it lacks all kinds of adjustments and it's pretty much a super expensive chair for wealthy people to flex with.
@@Ahnestly i feel like i just have a long torso haha, also makes buying chairs a pain in the butt (literally), embody is too short and digs into my shoulder blades, aeron B is too small but C is too big, gonna try the cosm and gesture now hopefully one of them fits 😭
@@Ahnestly yeah high back was too short but surprisingly mid was great, I've only tried it for an hour at the store so I think I'm gonna get one from HM soon before the 15% ends lol
@@Ahnestly Curses, foiled by bad communication >:( Good luck, hope you will keep trying and they will finally respond, I would love to see that chair properly reviewed!
@@Ahnestly I think i'm sorted, at least just for now, when it comes to my chair. Definitely keep your link for that europe aeron thing in mind for when i maybe want to try an aeron.
Tried this out in the store, thought it was the most comfortable chair i've ever tried. However it's more like a conference room chair too me, its too easy to lean back and relax - got an aeron instead to have a balance. Also tried an embody but its it was wasn't for me - worse recline and back isn't wide enough.
Having used Cosm, Aeron, and Embody side by side for a week and owning a Gesture for about a month, I sold the used Gesture as soon as I could and went on to spend double on my Cosm. Lighter, better built, more comfortable, not a sweat magnet, and I can actually sit in it for more than 4 hours at a time. Not to downplay your experience, chairs are like people, everyone's got their preferences.
@Leagueclips i am kinda getting the opposite of this, i am 6'4 and finding a chair that fits me is kinda impossible. The Cosm only just fit my shoulders, and the seat was way too small (depth wise) but it was comfortable.
It's so funny...I think the Gesture is THE most controversial chair. I thought Secretlab would be the most controversial, but that hasn't been the case. I get DAILY comments of people loving their gesture and others just DESTROYING it. And this love/hatred comes from all kinds of people - taller people, heavier people, skinnier people, etc!! I do recommend that people try both the Gesture and any HM chair because both company's returns policies are EXCELLENT!
Actually, the Steelcase Gesture or the Leap feels and sits like a cheapo' office store chair next to an Aeron or an Embody - and this fact is even more painful considering the price of Steelcase chairs... The Gesture is a bit better because of its armrests and seatpad, but both feel very-very cheap (for such overpricing it is offensively low-grade feel), with low quality foam paddings, sleazy-wobbly control knobs, creaking-clucking plastics, harsh and unresponsive lumbar, badly positioned headrest. Honestly, I don't understand the hype around Steelcase chairs...
I didn’t mention it this time due to the sponsor plug getting long but that’s something they’re working on. Here’s a paraphrase from them: “In regards to customs, we are aware of the hefty fees that can be added on. We are currently working on this and are opening a warehouse within the EU so chairs can go out through Europe without the customs tax - we will be fully integrating this into our operations within the next few weeks. In the next few days, we will be increasing the shipping slightly and we will have the customs charges charged to us and not the buyer as a temporary measure until we have our facility within the EU up and running"
I tried this chair at the HM showroom, and it is by far their worst chair. The armrests are pretty much completely unusable. And because there's almost no adjustments, it's essentially a big hard mesh net. It does look executive as all hell though, like something some silicon valley CEO would sit on, but was a hard pass for me.
@@Ahnestly yah just realized.......I'm about to write these guys. Hopefully my angry ass email will get me free shipping. Doubt it but worth a try...wish me luck 😉
My mans must have never heard of girls before. ;) hahahaha in all seriousness, I was referring to female average height and didn’t mention mens average height since it’s above 5’3 (and by logic, mens average height is taller and would also therefore fit the high back)
Dude the Aeron International is such a stupid idea. First of all, every single product from them is out of stock. And 2nd, they sell it from the god damn UK which left the EU and now you have to pay 140€ for shipping 😂😂😂 what a dumb business plan...jesus
Hey all, so I am new to this sponsoring thing and want to make sure I work with reputable brands only, so really appreciate the feedback - some people voiced this before and this was Aeron International's response (summarized): "In regards to customs, we are aware of the hefty fees that can be added on. We are currently working on this and are opening a warehouse within the EU so chairs can go out through Europe without the customs tax - we will be fully integrating this into our operations within the next few weeks. In the next few days, we will be increasing the shipping slightly and we will have the customs charges charged to us and not the buyer as a temporary measure until we have our facility within the EU up and running" As for product stock, looks like they just got stock in today!
If you think of it from an investment perspective, this makes much more sense than 80% of the things we buy. I use it 8 hours a day 5 days a week and have peace of mind for the next 12 years. What can you say that about that you own? Your $1,000 phone that’ll last you 2-3 years before battery breaks down? A $30,000 car that you drive maybe 2 hours at most a day and causes issues 3-4 years in? Your $200 shoes that you barely wear? Just a thought!
@@Ahnestly yeah, your reply is not really valid, since most of the people in the world are not able to spend that much money on any of those things. The problem is that you live in a bubble and you can't comprehend some things. I don't blame you, you've just never experienced certain things. I use a $200 phone, drive a $2200 used Fiat (and I'm perfectly satisfied with those items, no complaints) and a $120 chair, which is not perfect, like no other chair is, but it works, the only thing that it lacks for me is a bit more seat depth, but it was still $120, not $2000. Talking about health and posture, since you've mentioned it, only physical activity and active lifestyle will keep your back and body in a good shape for a longer time. Sitting for 8 hours a day will deteriorate your body, no matter what kind of chair you use. That being said, I am all for buying a decent office chair, but there is absolutely no chair that is worth $2000. Speaking about materials used, labor to produce it, designing process, all things considered, it is not worth $2000, not even close. Plus, you've found several flaws that are not so minor, so why would you even consider paying that amount of money for something that is flawed as much as a $300 chair? So yes, people who pay that amount of money for a chair, and justify its price by talking about health, brand, quality or whatever are sheep

Lol! My back aches after a bit...very very nice though
Please review the Zeph chair with arms
If I wanna be intimate with myself while sitting in this chair, would it be as useful as the IKEA chairs? Because my IKEA office chair is rock-solid!
im planning to buy ikea markus. its a good chair?
LOL....I'm speechless....give me 30 seconds though, and I'll find out. HAHAHA jk but in all seriousness, because the arms can't move out of the way, not ideal...
NO YOU DIDN'T!!!!.... I was subbed to this channel because of hundreds of reasons, but the most important was to have the review of this chair, but you answered me that you couldn't know if it would be done one day, and i was almost hopeless at that point... But now that's the video, and i couldn't be more happy than this, waiting for it for ages... THANK YOU
hahaha it finally came after months of waiting! Hope you like it!!
@@Ahnestly LOVED IT!!! Now my choice between the cosm and the embody is so much easier
@@giuseppepaolini6754 Best to go to a store and try them out yourself before you actually make a decision.
@@xenuone509 i already did and i'll do it again, but there are 3 main problems:
1- in my country, the embody logitech, the one i'm interested in, is not on physical stores, so i cannot test it in any way (i tried the normal one, but i cannot test things like the noise of the logitech one)
2- i cannot test the chair on a long term, and while the cosm seems a magic carpet cloud when you first sit in it, it could be worst every hour after (as him said)
3- i try to get as much information from reviews, but the thing is so personal that the best method to choose one is to buy all the chairs you want and after trying them intensively for some days, get the refound on those you didn't like...
I do let myself fall into it, but if I do, I'm too far back to work/type properly!
@@Ahnestly Yeah, the angle that it wants to put you at is more conducive to watching a TV show than typing on a keyboard. It's great for relaxing but a bit difficult to use for serious productivity.
Best chair review channel 👌
Thank you!

Where did you get that rug in the video?
I did a video where I broken down my entire office setup. Check that out if you want to know more. Rug link - geni.us/AC9Z
After looking at so many chairs, which ones would you buy if you are looking for a new one?
My #1 chair right now is the Herman Miller Embody. It's my daily driver. If you decide to pick up, please consider using my link! Helps this channel a LOT!
Hi can you please review standing desk (all around for gamer and office used) your top 5? i mean build quality, durability , cost and warranty
Haworth Fern next please!
They said it's gonna take 5 weeks to get to me! So waiting on it to arrive!
Aeron International doesn't ship to India. 😕
Cosm seems amazing though!
Awww yeah, been waiting for this one.
Could you also review the human scale freedom?
And if possible compare aeron, freedom, gesture. Thank you for the awesome videos!
I'm from Europe and honestly my biggest issue with Herman Miller is sizing. I don't know whats with this brand but people above 6 feet are considered giants by Herman Miller and 6 feet is average man height in my country.
Loll damn sorry to hear that! I think this can accommodate 6' and taller though!
Yeah, went to try out some Herman Millers today and I was surprised how small the Aeron B was.
What wallpaper is that on your pc?

Proper sitting doesn't need arm support. Arm support will only hurt your shoulder.
I was thinking about going for the fern by haworth but ALL of these chairs have increased in price so fast that they are all out of budget again..
Ugh I know :-(
you nailed the headrest part the only reason keeping me from buying this chair
The chair is cool, but I think 2k is indeed overkill. And("harsh to the wallet"). But good video as always.
Nothing from Ergotune :-(
is setu a Comfortable chair? can i sit on this chair for hours?
@@iloveyouytb So far so good as I work from home half the week. 😁
@@Ahnestly Um, Ahn? Ergotune now ships to America.
Seems in no way an upgrade to from either the Aeron or Embody. I'm happy with my Aeron Remaster and Mirra 2 lol
nice nice!!
Awesome Video
thank you!!!
Can confirm you are a legend
HA! Really appreciate that!!!
Great video
Thank you!!
Herman miller aeron black mesh chair is the greatest chair I sat in best 1600 dollar chair I've gotten for free 😏
i feel even the cosms in hm strore are very different, different level of pressure
Thanks.
No I haven't heard of those! That's wild!
The Taper chair is not ergonomic at all, it lacks all kinds of adjustments and it's pretty much a super expensive chair for wealthy people to flex with.
I find shoulder support just cut into my shoulder and hurt it.
Interesting...how tall are you?
high back is too short for me 😅 my shoulder hits the headrest
Jesus. Give me some of your height, thanks!
@@Ahnestly i feel like i just have a long torso haha, also makes buying chairs a pain in the butt (literally), embody is too short and digs into my shoulder blades, aeron B is too small but C is too big, gonna try the cosm and gesture now hopefully one of them fits 😭
@@v000000000000v gonna try the Cosm? Didn’t you say it was too small?
@@Ahnestly yeah high back was too short but surprisingly mid was great, I've only tried it for an hour at the store so I think I'm gonna get one from HM soon before the 15% ends lol
This is without a doubt one of the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever sat in, I cannot stand those leaf arms
Yeah kind of a miss on HM's part!
sharp seating angle made it never a favorite of mine. I much preferred my Embody, as well as the Aeron
So... What are the odds of you testing out and making a video of the Lifeform high back executive office chair priced at 3000$ haha
Hahahaha I reached out but got nothing
@@Ahnestly Curses, foiled by bad communication >:(
Good luck, hope you will keep trying and they will finally respond, I would love to see that chair properly reviewed!
Those chairs have crazy padding, shame they cost way more than most high end office chairs and don't really feel as practical.
what's the desk in this vid
Check out my desk setup video. It’s from a brand called desk haus. Best standing desk!! Use my code for a discount if you decide to pick up!!
I really appreciate your coupon for saving meself 10€ on a flippin aeron, lol.

Also tried an embody but its it was wasn't for me - worse recline and back isn't wide enough.
is that a custom keeb? :o
Not exactly what I'd call custom, but yeah! It's the GMMK Pro!
Beautiful chair. Not a fan of all the hard edges though.
I hear ya!
Having used both the Herman Miller Aeron and Cosm, I can say I still prefer the Steelcase gesture. Still better than any "racing gamer" chair tho
no shit they are better, also 4-5x the price
Honestly, I don't understand the hype around Steelcase chairs...
can you remove the arms?
they go all out on everything but the arm rests...for 2k i better be able to re position my arm rests thats just insane to me
I hear ya....
aeron internation is for uk people, the shiping to Germany is 150 GBP, thats a joke
It does look executive as all hell though, like something some silicon valley CEO would sit on, but was a hard pass for me.
whoa
Pass
That mesh material is kind of a cheese grader for your pants, I bet you have a big pile of fuzzy stuff down in the chair mechanism.
May I ask why the duck shipping cost 250? It's absolutely criminal!
It should be free shipping if you’re in the USA. That’s odd!
@@Ahnestly I'll double check
@@leonlee877 holy crap you’re right. It is $200. Wtf man…Aerons and stuff get free shipping. Makes NO Sense

@@Ahnestly LOL,, I am pretty sure almost no one would want a chair that forces you to sit up straight in such occasions.

I love this channel but my mans really just said 5'3 is average height
My mans must have never heard of girls before. ;) hahahaha in all seriousness, I was referring to female average height and didn’t mention mens average height since it’s above 5’3 (and by logic, mens average height is taller and would also therefore fit the high back)
Dude the Aeron International is such a stupid idea. First of all, every single product from them is out of stock. And 2nd, they sell it from the god damn UK which left the EU and now you have to pay 140€ for shipping 😂😂😂 what a dumb business plan...jesus
Yup amazed they have money for youtube sponso…
Even with the expensive shipping, still works out cheaper for me to buy from them then used where I am 🇪🇸
In the next few days, we will be increasing the shipping slightly and we will have the customs charges charged to us and not the buyer as a temporary measure until we have our facility within the EU up and running"
As for product stock, looks like they just got stock in today!
don't recommend if you are 6'1,too small
Even the tall version?
@@Ahnestly yes. The headrest is not nearly high enough for me
I luv red chairs but that one is butt ugly.
Lol I like it! My wife thinks it’s not great though
People are actually paying $2000 for an office chair? Lmaoooooo sheep
@@Stefan-wp2qr Just to be clear, you are broke but somehow people that can afford $2,000 chairs are sheep? WTF 🤔😂
