    I do this everyday for my hobby-job now. I was NASA soldering certified at LAFB Denver. 45 years passed, I retired from various Project Management and Engineering roles. It is satisfying to repair modern SMT boards. I will retire in a few more years when I cannot look through a microscope anymore.

      I only have an utter disrespect for this one. You need to be a special kind du'mba,ss to use solder paste mixed with tacky flux and heated by soldering iron, and thus contaminate PCB with solder particles all around as seen on the video. I guess he never heard about existence of solder wire But if you using solder paste, then apply it properly on the pads, place connector, then reflow, not do this nonsense.

      @jiriwichern Місяць тому +87

      The surface tension in the solder does that when it's fluid enough. It tries to minimize its surface compared to the volume of the solder bubble(s). You do have to have reasonable even heat, not too much external force on the component (for example due to your hot air gun blowing too fast) and about the right amount of solder for each pad (to prevent bad joints and/or bridging between pads).

    • @haroosanai
      @haroosanai Місяць тому +26

      @명작영화 플럭스는 송진같은 물질입니다. 납에도Pb Free solder에는 함유량에 차이가 있지만, 반드시 포함되어있습니다. Flux는 Solder가 잘 녹고, 칙소성이라고해서 점도를 낮춰주는 역활을 합니다. 열이 식으면 PCB Pad에 코팅된것처럼 도포되어 PCB Pad나 부품의 Lead에 코팅되어서 Metal과 metal이 contact되지 않게 됩니다. 알콜이나 톨루엔으로 Flux를 씻어내야만 합니다.
      저 부품은 Board to board connector인데 10Pin 20Pin 다양한데 1개의 Pin이라도 접점되지 않으면 신호전달이 되지않습니다.
      Flux는 잔열에 의해 물컹하다가 굳어지기 때문에 굳은 다음에 Flux가 건들리거나 스크레치가 나면 분말가루가 발생되며, 진행성 불량을 일으키기도 합니다.

    Ok one. Way too much flux, its dirty, causes leakage current problems and corrosion issues when stored, and requires a board cleaner and a 48 hour bake cycle to recover the pcb to a good state. Second, your fillets are very inconsistent. Some of your connections look good, but many of them youve used way too much solder. They should all have an even, consistent concave shape that extends from the full edge of each lead to the full edge of the solder pad. Third, you applied your solder paste so haphazardly there are likely potential shorts under every nearby ic that will be a devil to clean out from between the leads and lord help you if theres BGA nearby.... RIP. Use way less flux, you barely need any, in fact you wont see the flux when youre using the proper amount. Apply your paste either with a stencil, or a tool designed for the job, to keep your application consistent and way cleaner. Finally, make sure you scrub your board clean before and after youre done, and if possible do a board wash and bake dry before release. Got to say that this was a good explanation of what to look out for.
      Personally I would either not use paste or use a stencil so you don't have a lot of small tin beads in under all you components witch may short out something.
      Depending on if you are fixing some IPC class 3 (military, hospital.... equipment) or not. I don't see a big problem with a bit to much solder if it is for a phone, temp repair or something similar.
      Though this is great advice, and I agree with everything said above. Was nice to read this comment.
      I always like to see these shorts of people doing what I do, might even learn something new now and then.🙂

And work on breathing techniques. Holding your breath will make you more shakey, remember to breath. And when you want a moment of being still And accurate, time it on your down breath like a sniper would on his trigger pull
