Fantastic channel! I started following you a few months ago and have been really blessed. I lead music in for church’s gathered worship and had been using the Pod Go, just upgraded to the Helix Floor. But this has its own place for sure! I’m so impressed by the price, tone and features. Will probably get one as a back up and for new musicians at our church. Thanks!
Thanks for the sub - appreciate the support and glad you're enjoying it! Yeah, I reviewed the Pod GO and have been really loving that unit. It's in a different league, specifically with the UI and the tones across the amp models and effects, and obviously the functionality of a bigger floor board...but as an entrance into that world, the Matribox might be a useful piece for some. Get to know the multi effects world with Matribox, then upgrade to the POD or Helix? Might be a good route.
Love your channel! All of your demos have been so helpful in finding the right gear for those ambient sounds--demos which are hard to find otherwise. Would love to see you do a demo of the Valeton GP-200!
I have one of these, it's my first multi-effects unit. Honestly wasn't happy with the sounds UNTIL I started running it into a compressor that has volume and tone control. That smoothed out the harshness and enabled better control over the bass and treble. Now it sounds fantastic. I have tweaked a few presets and am generally happy with the sounds. I'm primarily a blues rock player. Youre right, it lacks the nuances and refined sound of a more expensive unit, but for the money, ease of use, versatility and usefulness, it is hard to beat. And I'm surprised that I don't see it on any top 10 lists of budget multi-effects units. Instead I'm still seeing pedals that came out in 2015-2016! Surely this is better than some of that much older technology. What would you recommend as a next step up from this, something that is still easy to use and not too expensive? (maybe $500 and under).
Thanks for watching and chiming in! I'd highly recommend the Line6 POD GO / POD GO Wireless. I have a few videos with it, but it really is a big step up with sounds/features and navigation. Creating and managing presets is great, and the amps are far superior to anything on the Sonicake, and they're always making improvements and additions.
@@AmbientEndeavors Thanks, I'll take another look at that one (the POD GO). I remember scratching it off my list based on how it looked, the size, and the screen, and I moved on to looking at the Helix models. But I'll give it a new look and will check out your videos on it, thanks again 👍
Thanks for the video. I bought it yesterday as it was on Black Friday offer, £78.20. So far, so good. I like the sounds very much. It's the first guitar pedal I ever bought, so I can't make any comparisons, which I wouldn't anyway. I just like it, and that's that. One minus, though. A power switch would be nice.
For $130 this unit is incredible! Show me another multi effect unit that can do what this does and has as many features for under $150? God i wish these were around back when i was first starting! The sound is very HI fi and clear/precise. This unit is worth buying just for the delay and reverb effects alone!
@@AmbientEndeavors Yeah i really wish this kind of gear was around back in 1985 when i was starting. I played for hours and hours on what i had( Kramer Baretta and a Marshall combo amp and a few pedals)which was OK i guess but if i had one of these i don't think i would have put the guitar down!😁
@@AmbientEndeavors Oh i forgot to mention i did also use a Rockman X100 with headphones a lot at night to practice. this unit is like a Rockman on steroids!
Easy enough, PODHD 300. Sure they are used units but the fact it has multiple foot switches makes it a more viable unit for use beyond setup tone, record tone environments/purposes.
Skip to 10:00 if you actually want to hear the pedal. If you're here for pontification, the first 10 minutes is excellent. Either way, it's worth the listen
The intro is beautiful. I just ordered this i am new to guitar. Does the looper allow you to save tracks, loops, drums on the devicec to upload to pc, or create an audio file?
What I would like to know is, can you create your own tone patches say for instance a George Lynch tone and then a Van Halen tone and assign them to each footswitch so you can toggle back and forth on-the-fly?
Hey! So you can, you'd have to create those presets back to back, and you can use the footswitched to increment/decrement presets. Make sense? The footswitches let you either scroll through your presets OR turn on/off a module that you assign it to.
of course. if you're in the market for one of these, please consider using my affiliate link - you'll get 10% off your order and it helps the channel a bunch! it's in the video description.
I got it and it good a much better and easier amp emulation than my spider V60 . With my spider i needed to eq and all presets were nearly unstable. With just a little bit tweaking i got tones that are perfect for my taste.
Honestly wasn’t blown away by the amp models. The bassman and matchless models stood out to me as solid, but many of the others were pretty uninspiring, at least at first glance. Of course you could experiment with IRs as you like, but I’d reach for one of those you referenced before this unit for amps alone. ..and again they are each about 3x the price of this, so just depends on what you’re looking for.
Great, thanks for the objective feedback! I just recently discovered your channel & love your quality of work. Very helpful & enjoyable stuff. Keep up the good work!
Yeah I get you. I was thinking of using the Matribox as more of an ambient reverb pedal and the helix would be the main unit. Curious how they would sound together in a church setting
I bought this too. In my opinion, it was money well spent. I absolutely love it.
that's great to hear! it's a fun little unit - tons of cool sounds to discover and the price is right. Thanks for watching!

I would really like a demo of the looper and the wah pedal.
I was wondering why I kept seeing so many soniccake videos popping up, cool to see new gear from them
Cool stuff
Best demo of this pedal yet. Thanks!
Pumped to hear that - thanks for watching!
Great video. Tuned in because I ordered this right after I saw it demoed the first time. Love the use of it for ambient tones that's what I am after
Glad to hear , thanks for watching!
pretty damn good for the money. will definitely recommend to people who don’t have good gear yet
I have been playing for over 30 years and have great gear and i would still highly recommend one of these!
Love your channel! All of your demos have been so helpful in finding the right gear for those ambient sounds--demos which are hard to find otherwise. Would love to see you do a demo of the Valeton GP-200!
Glad to hear it man! I’ll have to look that one up.
Sonicake is solid. Have a bunch of mini pedals that totally work for anything.
Right on! Which are your favorites of the minis? I have a couple I'm checking out soon...
i order one from amazon will be coming in 4 days, cant wait!!!
good deal, hope you dig it!

Whoa, you got that Slowdive sound without having the coveted (expensive and hard to find anymore) Yamaha FX500. I'm impressed !
Yeah definitely some fun shoegaze-y sounds in this one!
Great review, you learn a lot to make environments with a low budget, please, could you do a review of the Mooer Ge150 🙏
I'll have to check that one out!

Thanks! A lot of them are only slightly tweaked stock presets found on the unit 👍🏼

Excellent review....can one turn of any effects of choice in stomp mode (using the 2 pedal buttons)?
Lovely playing,i came here for a review,i stayed for your playing ,1+sub
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching :)
Just bought one
Cool! How are you liking it or what are you most excited about if it’s still on its way?
Hey! How did you recorded the sound? Did you used it as an interface ou mic'd a amp? Great tones!
This was all direct, into my interface and DAW. Using this for effects and amp sim.

Sounds cool! How does the amp modeling quality compare to units like the Iridium, the UA Dream 65 or ACS1?

Can you run this with the Helix at the same time ?
Don’t see why you couldn’t, but there’d a lot of redundancy
Yeah I get you. I was thinking of using the Matribox as more of an ambient reverb pedal and the helix would be the main unit. Curious how they would sound together in a church setting
can this go directly out to the PA ?
Yep! There are amp and cab models. You might benefit from a di depending on your situation or if you’re needing extra isolation.
Is there tap tempo?
There is , yes! Hold down the right switch to change its functionality to tap tempo.
i bought one a month ago. it's fantastic. i predict it will go up to nearly 200 dollars soon so hurry.
