If you do get one, download the manual and calibrate the expression pedal. It lets you set the toe-down pressure at which it switches between volume and wah. Mine was initially set to too high a pressure and wouldn't switch
I bought one new off eBay for $80. I have it and will open it on Sunday as my birthday present to me. (I wish it came with a cake and candles too.)
Great review, I’m buying this, well worth it. Cheers John👍
I got one of these off Amazon for review (for Amazon), quite impressed with it. Decent little tone box with a host of features!
Because of this I have just bought one. Mighty impressed.
Great show Big Fella, it sounds like a great little box of tricks you certainly knocked it out of the park with your playing ( AS USUAL) that S2 is awesome!! . What a wonderful diversion from another terrible weekend in the middle East. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.
Yah that Matribox sounds better now, great little unit. Must have been quite the inspiration since you've outdone yourself again, your demo compositions are just getting better and better. I'd love an album sized suite of all these recent glorious riffs with a few slower tempo sections added, would be amazing to have 45mins to just sit and enjoy. But likely a ton of work largely unsung except for the JR Guitar Lounge and Music Room regulars.
Very nice video! Just to be sure, can one also use this Sonicake pedal as an audio interface to record directly to a DAW without latency/delay ?
Yes, you can use it as an interface. That's how I recorded the demo 👍
@@JRobsonGuitar nice! Would you say it's suitable to play over backing tracks and record your guitar?
Got one of these for my birthday a few months back and am really pleased with it. As you point out in your demos, some of the settings are a little overdone but it’s pretty straightforward to wind these back and get some very satisfactory tones from this unit. Definitely worth the money, especially for us Luddites
Nice sounds and stellar playing as always! Wasn't the Mooer the one that asked somewhat ominously "Are You Sure...???" when you wanted switch modes or something? Then it took an age to actually make the switch. Laughed really hard during that episode! 😂
My first one of those was a used Digitech RP-100 I bought from someone closeby. 2003? More or less. It was really fun to play with my first electric guitar. I discovered the world of PC recording a few years back. First came a decent sound card (Soundblaster), then 4 more gb of RAM, then a fast track pro, then a POD XT live (REALLY fun to use back in the day), then a new computer. WIN 7. Yeah! Then new drivers, a Digitech Element, a micro amp HA400 for a 250 OHM pair of headphones, an MG-300 (works great! Thanks for the tip ;)), and finally a Scarlett Solo 4th gen. And now I don't feel like playing guitar. Only once in a while. I guess I am starting to get young, :P.
I know that you ran this into your DAW. My question is: Since it can be run through a PA system, can it also be run through an amp somehow? Thanks in advance.
Yes, it will go through an amp. You just need to turn the cabinet simulation off in the preset you're using & use it as a regular pedal chain.
Any better than a NUX MG300?
I love these multi-fx units. I would advise getting the most expensive model that fits the person's budget. I think the Line 6 Pod Go is probably the best at the high end of the price range at around $499. 2nd best would be Valeton GP-200 at $349. But even the the sub $300 models of most brands are good.
I got the Harley Benton GitFx Pro for 279.-, because it has the most connection possibilities of all the budget friendly units. 5 cable method into one tube amp and 2. output directly to the front of my other tube amp. All of that comes through 4 twelve inch speakers!😁🎸🤘🎸
When you get yours perhaps you'll demo the looper/ drums ??👍
I got one (£70 new). Too small for live, too noisy (at higher gains) for serious recording. Great for practice. Also, the noise gate opens slowly and "violins" the first note. Overall, meh
EDIT: I updated the firmware to v1.0.4 and the noise gate work fine. Overall, woohoo!
Hi John, hope you had a great time Friday night. That gizmo is well impressive for the money. Back in my gigging days you'd have been looking at three times the price to get something that would do all that. I used a Zoom 4040 for a while. Some okay pre-sets in it but doctoring them was a nightmare. It was more or less some nice usable clean sounds and once you stomped on an overdriven pre-set you had the choice between filthy or unusable. These days I have a Lekato "Cube Baby". Probably not the best gadget in the world but it does everything I need and sounds good to my ears and you can pick them up for forty quid if you shop around. I'm sure you don't need one but if you have any students on a tight budget then it could be just what they're looking for.
Can anyone advise how you reconcile the amp and cabinet models with the characteristics of the amplifier/speaker you are using?
If you're already playing through an amp & cab it's best to turn those simulations off in the patch you're using.
@@JRobsonGuitar. So you can only use those models on a computer and play them through a monitor speaker?
i wonder what inspiration for the intro riff in the beginning is 🤔🤣
TWD Deluxe
At £78 it is a no brainier.
The S2 is a wishful beast. It really dominated. 🎉
Sucks, sent it right back
Apologies if you did say this, but were you recording directly from the usb? That does seem a great ease-of-use feature to me.
I now have the problem of resisting buying one of these, Thanks John
😉😉😉 . I already own a Zoom and Digitech multi fx. I couldn't, could I?
Yes mate. Direct usb recording is all you heard in this deno 👍
Thanks John @@JRobsonGuitar
