    Here we have entire houses done in flex (CSST). Was banned for a while but not since years ago, ever since they came up with the bonding clamps. I have a Bosch C1210ESC tankless in my own house with black iron and a drip leg on the bottom, nipple running to the side to a street elbow, a valve, and another street elbow, and then the CSST adapter. So it's essentially flex to black iron to the appliance, rather than black iron to flex into the appliance.

    The 3 flat washer pieces that you were having issues with are meant to be turned the other way as they were from factory. After you tighten the bolt you are supposed to bend that tab up against the flat edge on the head of each bolt.. it acts as a lock to keep the bolt from vibrating loose. 👍🏻 good work guys!

    at 26:44 those are locking tab washers, meant to have the tabs bent up against the bolt head after proper torquing, so they cannot back out from the heat cycling.
    if they back out you get "ka-boom" action like when leaving the bolt loose/cross threaded.

    • @throttlebottle5906
      @throttlebottle5906 6 місяців тому

      @@ranger178 the ignitor/flame sense rod on tankless domestic hot water, hydronic heating or combo units really should be checked and cleaned about every 6 months.(assuming spark ignitor type)
      they have a high cycle rate compared to most everything else.
      Also depending on gas and air quality they can get buildup pretty fast, causing flame sense failures and delayed ignition(thump/boom).
      you'll want to keep spare gaskets and an ignitor/flame rod or two(most have ignitor/flame sense combined).
      the smoother it lights, the less gas is wasted on each startup and of course, no booming.

      I didn't do any cleaning or anything to my ultra for 15 years and when i opened it i had no dirt it was clean slight corrosion of aluminum door and combustion chamber at bottom but the stuff just washed down into the drain never had any booming ignition till i took it all apart cleaned it couldn't find any dirt and put all new gaskets in and a new ignitor it was fine for a year now it is doing it this heating season so i figure the screws loosened that hold combustion chamber . mine has just Philipps screws I think i dont believe it had locking tabs @@throttlebottle5906

    Thank you for the second shout out Mike, Lol.
    I was just told about your channel when dealing with a Navien issue at my fiancés home last week that ended up having a bad board and internal circ pump failure on an NCB-240.
    That first video at this home was the second video I watched from your channel.
    As for that home I did the lighting system in that house and also flip flopped two other radiant zones that were incorrectly wired on the second floor.
    They did not want to pay so no other AV work was completed there and equipment that began to be installed was taken out.
    The house was turned over to them in December of 2020, which was the last time I was there.
    The PoolPak is a three phase unit which was not part of the initial engineering specs for that pool room and being three phase is not available in Hewlett Harbor a single phase to three phase converter had to be installed on the side of the home among all the AC condensers.
    After the turn over not sure who they have had in there for servicing or additional work as the outdoor kitchen was not yet built at that time but I’m speaking with other trades similar situation to what you stated at beginning of this video regarding non payment.
    The top of those spiral satairs is the attic which lookks like they finished the entryway part of it but all the mechanicals for HVAC exhaust hood draft inducers are up there to the left and right.
    I enjoy your videos and attention to details! Keep them coming!

    2020 NYS Fuel Gas Code 411.1 and NYS residential code G2422.1 both allow a listed flexible connector for boilers and heaters. In the old days they were prohibited. I still prefer to see rigid connectors, but flexible are indeed allowed per state code. If prohibited, it would be a local and not a state requirement.

    seeing two indirect tanks and no thermostatic mixing valves, I'm guessing they have one for domestic usage at 120F and the second at say 140F for dish washer, laundry, cleaning?
    but they could both be at 120F in conjoined or separate feeding separate things in the house. hard to say without a diagram/tracing things.
    thinking further, one could be used as storage/buffer for heating... hmm too many possibilities come to mind. lol

    Mike the reason why the metal on bolts to hold burner is to secure bolt from getting loose. The metal acts like a lock washer.
    When it is bent up, it doesn't allow the hex nut to spin

  • @throttlebottle5906
    @throttlebottle5906 Рік тому +1

    7/16 socket on 10mm, the whole machine is all metric thread and fasteners I believe, including the hey keys. the impact is likely helping knock the nuts threads loose, instead of pulling/breaking the studs off. overtightening of them on service can cause the threads to gal and become stuck (assuming it's stainless on stainless). proper torquing during reassembly will prevent thread issues. 😁

    I'll be surprised if you didn't already know this fastener tip, but when you're reinstalling bolts and screws, hold em straight and finger spin them backwards to locate the threads before you start threading them in. Helps immensely to make sure you don't cross-thread or, in plastic, keeps you from cutting new threads and weakening the plastic threads. It'll prevent you from petering up when you're using an impact to run screws in, especially when you cant get your impact lined up straight with your fastener.
