Mike, Daniel showing his consideration for the homeowner property, while carrying the slab up the steps stopping in conversations he placed the item on his shoe and not the homeowners step . Shows a good employee!
I just stumbled upon your channel. I really enjoy your humor and work ethic. If only all tradesmen were like you. Keep up the great work.
I had the same thing happen to me except it was the Teflon that rolled across the boiler and into the 2” tap. Fished it out with solder and moved on with my day.
From a retired electrician that was a great job guys
I love the attitudes
He knows plumbing, 😂👍🏼 Good for franky hope it all goes well for him
Very good work
Great install Mike
Truly a tribute to our trade. Doing the right thing For our clients gets us what we want in life!
Bill, a CT LIC P1 Contractor, Best wishes for your career. And for your keeping our trade alive
Great editing of the video.
In this trade so hard to find people to work. I offered 30 an hour plus full benefits and the person turned down the job. Florida and NJ is where I have contracts, with Florida being the worst for help.
You are lucky to have Daniel and Peter.
Great job. Keep it going.
For future reference the flooring tile in that area was more than likely asbestos as well. Typically the flooring tile will be 8"x8".
Yo bro from Philly looks like y’all are having fun!
Great videos. I can tell you take pride in your work and want to pass on accurate information. I would like to respectfully correct a comment you made concerning the steam boilers from US Boiler specifically, the Steamax steam boiler. US Boiler does not promote 4 PSI pressure control setting. The installation manual states in the start up section paragraph - 6. Adjust auto reset pressure limit for a 2 psi MAIN and 1.5 psi DIFF. US Boiler does not adjust the control, it is left where the control comes from Honeywell. Unfortunately many contractors leave it where it is when received.
Thanks for all you do bringing your videos to not only the contractors get to see how things should be done especially the respect for customers property and homeowners get a view of what we go through.
My last hire made it 3 days before he quit. When payday came he told me to Zelle him. I told him I needed his SS number. He claimed I was trying to scam him and couldn't believe that I needed his SS number. I tried to explain I run a legitimate business and pay taxes. He told me to keep his pay. Another guy was begging me to start ASAP swore he could pass a background check and asked what I needed. Told him the usual and he ghosted me. Had another guy tell me he could start in a month when that time came he told me he really likes to fish on the weekends so it wouldn't work out. I have never had this much trouble finding employees. It really sucks at this point.
Got to love those flame jobs nice torch work though lol :-) :-)
There's a few commercial buildings around where I live here in Greenville South Carolina where I want a few people able to strike a lyf flame
I love this UA-cam channel cuz its entertaining and its very informational
You may have destroyed the heat treatment on the jaws of your Knipex cobras lol but oh well. I’m curious to know how they continue to hold up. Great video as always, new stuff to learn from every time. Thanks Mike!
do you ever use expando for the cut threads? works great
Hot Damn, a sweet install with a nice little tip to take home too.
at 18:02 best way is grabbing with the pliers and twisting it back and forth a little while pulling down. at least in my opinion, but I sometimes bang them apart if possible.
** I keep and use worn out brushes to clean the solder out, also to clean old tape off threads, works great for both.
These apprentices are lucky to have you showin them the ropes
I hope those kids realize how lucky they are to have you as a teacher I work in a warehouse for 25 years before I retired and it sucked
Told you Mike, you got another winner!
Cleaning up afterwards (even as ya go) is very important & key for help keeping clients; as no person wants to clean up “your” mess throughout their house afterwards, d be annoyed, so don’t do it….takes minutes to cleanup & you’d be so surprised at how homeowners react afterwards, imo
👍🏻👍🏻 Mikey & fam
✌🏻
Id say just as important at my scale. High rises and stadiums. If every guy cleans his area when done working it just looks nicer. As much waste as we create in commercial large scale i try to take pride in my work even if other dont. Cough electricians cough cough
I would had loved to work for you 15 years ago. Would had learned alot from you.Your a very likeable boss and love to teach, my kind of guy. I live in Lynbrook retired pool mechanic.
I read an article dealing with the red pex not sure if was a brand bame but stated the red pex had a problem with degradation of the pipe from the inside.
Hey you how cone you dont use heat on the old cast iron fittings?
Congratulations with the other companies Mikey.
Nice install .
You need to talk with HR department about your hiring process.....
RIP Nicks back in naviens slave camp rebuilding heat exchangers
If you cut from the face of the pipe toward the fitting making a cross hair in the nipple. Top to bottom, side to side then just score the inside of the nipple not getting into the threads of the fitting....the nipple will collapse when you put the wrench on it. Its worked for me tons of times including once on a 80 year old 3in galvanized water service to a hotel.
Might actually call you next year to service and diagnose my Sears Homart gas steam boiler.
Fixing his plumbers crack...😂😂🤣
Mike, Instead of Grey Goose (French) vodka you should try Belvidere (Polish) vodka, blue label on top of bottle. Belvidere also has Single Estate and Limited Editions vodka.
Is this dust blowing around asbestos?
while I never walked off a job and vanished, I did get whizzed off enough at a co-worker to clock out and go home once(union factory job). when they asked why, I told them very clearly that either I was going to walk away from him or break his skull with one of the heavy parts and you see what I choose to do. they never said a word more about it, but I don't suggest anyone else do that ever.
Are you that difficult to work for that workers just walk off the job? Lol
Too funny!!! Love those press fittings, worth every penny
He Mike a honest question. You said that they removed Asbestos. How “safe” its the workspot after that? So you daniël and Peter don’t breath in the fibers.
It's kind of funny people say I'm hard to work for I do believe you got me beat by a mile
Should use a signal tracer to enable to find the breaker quicker without interrupting power to other appliances.
Cutting into the threads is ok? Seems like a perfect path for a leak but if not then I’ll use that trick one day
I seen the live, this is the BEST EVER
i swear, you can't make this stuff up
is that methoid with the two cuts for getting out the 2inch pipe on steam better then a single cut and hitting it with a chisel until its lose.
👍
I do like Mr pipes . Even though previous posts may seem otherwise
Man I would love to go and learn how to install boilers
In the plumbing union. Guys did walk off. Shooting pipe through 5 story apartments. It's about being calm. Loudmouths never help. Manhattan
Hey Mike, you couldn't get that striker out with your pro-press. Solder has it's benefits.
MIKEY, ain’t that Tee like 6 bucks?! 😂 you’re wild big guy
nice pie
was that asbestos dust floating around when he tapped the pipe?
I was watching this when you were talking to the guys,in the back ground another channel.
This one ha ha ha: BMPT "Terminator" Operates In The Area Of The Settlement Of Dibrova, Kremenskoye Direction
as you were talking about a AWOL ,this monster was showing how to splinter trees in the distance.
I wont put up a link unless one of Joeys 82 million also watch...
😁😁
Savages on that copper bro!
While working 40 to 60 hr's on my permanent full-time job, did side work in the 1980's I had my HVAC&R licenses and used to do some work for others who couldn't afford it for free of charge especially on no heat in winter. No one either wanted to work on oil furnaces or didn't know how. Worked on trying to the get business going till my wife gave me an ultimatum of quitting full time job with retirement and bennies or the business had to let the business go, started to have a nervous breakdown due to things going on at work and home life.
Should have fired the wife.
@@WhowereEpsteinsclients Not disagreeing with you but up to this point I have been married to wife #1 for 50 years retired 2013 from job with lifetime pension and heath insurance, plus she gets 55% survivor benefit if I go first, but if she goes before me they have to write me a check for about $1000 per month that I have been retied right now that is roughly $120000 owed. Party like its 1970 👀
Make the trade great again
54:10 Where are all the toppings! That's a naked pizza! Where's the beef! 🐮🐄🤠
Lol the end reminded of another. Reason I became a spark we don't clean sht what's a broom? Lol
Those mega press fittings are like cheating!!!!, I was installing steam boilers and hydro boilers back in the day working with my dad when I was just a kid, doing all black, iron pipe, cutting and threading it ourselves. Plus soldering all copper pipe systems. Working with brass pipe also. the good old days out in college point area. That’s when it took you a whole day to put in a boiler. Lol. We mostly worked in apartment buildings, some of the boilers were so big we had to take a brand new boiler apart and bring it in in sections and put it back together again just to get it where it needed to be. Years of doing that shit has taken its toll on my back, unfortunately, I’ve slowed down a whole lot and I’m barely 50.
@@PipeDoctor oh, I completely understand, I didn’t choose the route of plumbing when I got older after my dad retired, so I missed out on the mega crimp etc. I got into air-conditioning and refrigeration and automotive repair. But for many years, I did experience good old fashion, tough work that separated the men from the boys, I love gadgets, and all the newest technology. I’ve got hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tools and gadgets for air-conditioning and refrigeration and automotive repair… I see they have come out with crimp fittings for air conditioning stuff too. No more brazing or soldering.
Why did frankie leave?
That’s a crusty one mamma!
Why did Frankie get canned?
Mister does everything smart and safe has no eye protection on and I do no see an extinguisher
the problem around here is they need workers but they want them to be journeyman level for minimum wage.
Heat draws the solder not absorbs it.
3:26 Well you could use it for a light bulb for a very short burst of light and then it will burn out! 😂👍
🔧Hello Mickey🔧
@@PipeDoctor Big Mickey
You know Mickey if you send me a sticker or 2 I'll put them on my truck🔧
How much are those big 2 1/2 or 2, whatever they were, fittings apiece. Looks spendy :)
@@PipeDoctor Saw that SupplyHouse has them for 150 bucks apiece, the 45s. OUCH!!!!!
Maybe the tiger in the basement scared him away 🤷♂️
30:55 LMAO I've just been letting the video play through this slo-mo part
Mikie, are you bleeding the clock ? Lol
Mikey, was Nick's last name, Hoffa? OOPS
Mikey where are your eye glasses when soldering joints. Health and Safety first.
Dude probably didn't wanna be on film so he walked out
i quit once. they had just repainted a room not 5 minutes and had it all sealed off. and sent me and my wife in knowing it was full of paint fumes we both passed out from the fumes and nobody thought to check on us. i had to break a window to get fresh air in. we almost died and the boss wrote me up while i was in the hospital. i gave him the finger and quit.
It's Aliens 👽👽
Nick no clicked into the back rooms😂
Short bus going be cop oh shit good for him man he can get all the hvac side jobs
Let me work for you miiike. Great vid
If you’re serious, I have 3 years experience in plumbing, commercial alterations, new construction. I genuinely love the pipe trades and want to learn hvac. I’ll even take some load off your shoulders by telling you I’ve read some of dans books. Lmk!
Wow old fuse.
Megapress is the shit 👑 Best thing to happen to the plumbing industry since soapy bubbles 🫧
Navien would disagree.
@@vinceian9261 lol
When you going to bite the bullet and bring Godzilla back? You got the dude who leaves in an ambulance, the guy who takes an Uber home and this dude took a magic carpet. These dudes are running out of ways to get home.
@@PipeDoctor Our company policy was to return all uniforms when quitting. I had a guy that quit, took off his clothes, grabbed his bike from the office and road away in his BVD's, never to be seen again.
Mikey, what you should have said to Daniel is this fuse is kinda like bigfoot, "I have heard about it but never actually seen it"! I know you have seen fuses Mikey, but given Daniel's age, probably a first for him. Stay well buddy
Cut out exsiting pipes and garbage clamps
🛫 Nicky flight risk! 🛢️ Slick Nick! Nicky No show. Space ghost 👻...
He is nice doesn't make nasty comments to customers.. sorry I didn't view you sooner
The aliens took nick!
I'm thinking an Alien Abduction was what happened
That torch sound is eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I can't believe someone walked off the job, was he complaining or unhappy, very strange
Lmao that dude nick said yea I’m outta here
King Umbertos i have to go there. Never went. I lived in Elmont in the 80s. As far as Nick? I dont know? Some young guys just dont feel the mechanical vibe or something. They need more time to figure themselves out. But not saying anything to you , my guess is he felt maybe you disrespected him or something and he couldn't handle it.
I would work for free , those kids will be great plumbers one day
lol
the 5psi and 1-1/2 psi is most likely to curb short cycling when the boiler is oversized, lack of radiation elements and not many vents open(thermostatic type).
short cycling is never a good thing, no matter the heating/cooling equipment type. sorry to Dan and his die hard followers, but he's off a bit on the very low pressure and differential suggestion. 😉
i cleaned the seventh floor of an old dept store and i noticed the pipes all had what looked like cardboard on them. so i swept them up and stripped it all off the pipes, with no masks or ppgs at all. found out later it was asbestos oops, it is to late now. cough cough.
What kind of aliens taken Nick?
Is Nick short for nudnik?
Nick ...where is he???
mike..the slow mo again? is the button in a bad place? i guess nick needed a cry closet. great job guys. boiler looks tits!!
total bunch of rough as hell work it is evident you cannot do plumbing and videos at the same time
