Refreshing to see a guy that knows what he’s doing.

I am loving learning from this channel. I'm getting to see different failure modes and hackery in quantity on a wide variety of boiler systems. I'm an electrician and automation mechanic by original trade, but a job change has me starting on my HVAC journey. I am glad to have channels like yours that explain it well and still keep it fun. I know you'll keep up the boiler work, so keep making the videos! I'd also like to commend you as you are an excellent mentor.

I replaced a control board on a furnace I had to order it online because no plumbing supply store had it in my area it was 300 dollars for that board older furnaces always cost more for electronic parts because they are hard to find

So for so good with this new guy.
Mark up is usually 100 to 300%. People need to understand that not only are you installing the part but you are warranting it for 2 years parts and labor. I’m sure the parts manufacturers aren’t doing the same so that money comes out of your pocket. Great job as always. I wish you had an office in the SF Bay Area in California, I would buy a maintenance plan from you the next day!

I have the same boiler and went to check on the economy setting. It was all the way to maximum. I put it in the middle based on your recommendation. Read the manual and it claims it should be put on Maximum.

I like the comments. I like the comments about business practices. Business maybe done a little different than in other countries. I live in the same region as the video creator (producer). For real, and for real the product changes, discontinuing the part from manufacturers and service industry pricing. Without giving details Mikey gives great advice for prices adjustments as in the parts sold for Mikey Pipes' rolling warehouse replacement parts.

Just fyi you’re reading your thermal imager wrong. Scale on the right is the full scale. Your center temp (cross hair fixed) is the third number on the upper left. That second floor pipe was reading like maybe 110, at least as far as I saw, it’s probably hotter than that since we can see the white/orange color showing. It’s getting a little confused by reflected vs emissive reading. It’s most accurate on that black pipe, since it’s going to be only emissive or almost only emissive, and the shiny brass and copper it’s going to be pretty off (emissivity, which yours discloses in the numbers on the bottom,mid have to dig up what it should be for copper or brass). Boilers definitely only getting to 130-140 though so the tridicator is probably right.

Mike, if the temperature gauge wasn’t connected to an electrical connection could you use Teflon then? For example on a tri gauge?
@@PipeDoctor Mikey…. Ptfe is Teflon….Teflon is a trademarked name… ptfe is a chemical compound abbreviation
If you put a piece of black tape on the copper pipe you will get a proper temp from your thermal gun. Copper is shiny and it dosent register very well.

Hey Mikey, I recently got my house remodel and the contractor that install my Williamson boiler doesn’t know how to properly connect the lines. I’m from Queens, so it’s very heart warming to see these videos you post. When he turn on my basement my first floor heats and the basement, then to only find leaks 😢

I was hoping someone in the comments section could help me out with something I've been noticing with my Goodman gas furnace.
The furnace ignites and heats the house for what seems like the correct duration. I've noticed after the flame goes out and the blower continues to run and not to long goes by and the furnace reignites and completes another heating cycle.
I find it weird that it is reattempting to heat the house before the fan turns off. The thermostat shoes the ambient temperature is the same as the desired temperature.
I've changed the flame sensor as well but the issue still remains.

I also wouldn't Cary the correct wrench for the job I would have an adjustable wrench. Come on how many different sizes of fittings do you actually come across that you can't have a proper wrench
