    Awesome video. Small suggestion for nasty jobs, I got 50 ft of shop vac hose . I put the shop vacuum outside and just go in with a vacuum. Even if it a filter is hepa rated . It might not be totally sealed so the fine things that don't get trapped in the filter if it's outside it's not a problem.

Good thing you were wearing a mask too, after hearing about how small the particulate is from forest fires you may even consider getting a better mask for jobs like these. Stay safe man

    Bro, I’m sick! 4 flame rollout switches, 2 chimney cleanings (didn’t even know I had 2 chimneys!) and a thorough (outside) cleaning of my Crown natural gas steam boiler and STILL tripping the switch. I’m up worrying about more cold days for my twin little boys and finally stumble upon what it most likely is. When I hit the floor pan with the air hose, black carbon came backing out of the (exhaust shoot?) and I didn’t know enough to put 2 and 2 together. Can you recommend someone in north/central jersey? Any help is MUCH appreciated. Great channel man!

    Mikey pipes!!, big fan of the videos I have a question for you have you ever had a situation like this one and found the problem not fixed after the cleaning. Maybe a problem with back draft due to a big restriction in the flue clogged up or something to do with make up air in basement

    • @PipeDoctor
      @PipeDoctor  9 місяців тому

      Yes I have. You’d need to address draft at that point. Rare but usually gets resolved by sucking out all the crap at the base of the chimney.

    I would of thought wet methods to clean would have been a “safer” approach since it keeps the dust down, sort of the same way they teach for asbestos abatement, but if your saying dry technique is better for these purposes I gotta trust you since I’m not in the plumbing field ..… thanks for the educational video ! Appreciate all you do

      Im in Pittsburgh asbestos, and majority of the abatement companies will dry removed because of the same reason, it makes a complete disaster/mess, use an airless to keep the air clean and keep the fibers down during the process, fireproofing and plaster, but piping i usually always wets down

    Hey Mikey, of Mikey Pipes Plumbing not easy being cheesy. I like your podcast/social media. Carbonized boiler? Hmm, I'm no draft King, but more outdoor mechanical air/make up air the better. The boiler trying to breathe, the hwh trying to breathe, the clothes dryer trying to breathe, the stove and wall oven trying to breathe, something going to loose, like the gas fired boiler. What am I smoking again? the book of st matthew from a thru z.. Love you buddy, jolly good show old boy , God save the King.

      probably contaminants in the air, short cycling and too many cold starts/condensation erosion.
      it's also possible the design has them tapering to nothing at the very base for better flame/gas flow, maybe lookup the model and size of it and look for pictures.
