These cars were quite the deal back in the day. What a nice ride. I had a friend that bought a new Cougar XR7 version in maybe 1991 (his 3rd Cougar) I always preferred the styling of the Thunderbird.
I'd be fixing all the broken pieces with fiberglass and resin, fill the pits in the plastic if there are any, sand sand sand and spray paint. Then polish. Have it looking like new on the outside. Did my whole car last year. Fixing the plastic was the hardest part. 94 Probe GT. Love these old Fords!

For cleaning try D-GERM TB Germicidal Cleaner - 32 oz. You can get it at Menards. Works great, cleans all types of surfaces and it's about $6.99 regular price, $5.50 on sale.
Nice find! I have a 93 t bird and had the same issue with the center console being that way when it sat over 11 yrs. Used some diluted La’s ammonia and it came right off. Seems like I’m not the only one with the same issue.

When you said the vacuum stopped sucking I thought "must of got married". That Dewalt shop vac looks like it could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. My 89 I got recently was full of dead wasps and had trash and shit all over the inside. I did the same thing, put it in the drive way, took the whole back seat out and trunk stuff and vacuumed it all up. The headliner on mine is shredded too, gotta either take it out and take it to an upholstery place or just wait til I get the car running 100% and take the whole car and let them mess with it. I have the sunroof too but it seems like it's pretty stuck only moves a little bit. Or maybe the motor is weak. I'll try to manually crank it and then lube the tracks up real good like. The armrest on my 92 is all sticky from sitting outside. Don't know if that's the armor-all residue from years ago or what but I just bought a used console lid from someone and it's not sticky. No matter what I did I couldn't get it to not stick to my shirt sleeves. When I was towing my 89 home I drove it through a car wash on the car trailer and I power washed 6 years of dirt and shit off of it and it cleaned up well except for a couple of rust spots on the rear fenders I need to patch. They had an old leather hood bra on so the paint on the front of the hood is gone but I plan to do some rust repair and paint the car myself with some single stage gloss white if I keep it.
that rear spoiler wasn't stock. i had a 1989 SC 5spd and wanted a rear spoiler ,there was only 1 company back in 91 that made them . i had the exact same one. i enjoyed watching and listening to you , some of your comments cracked me up, yankee up in boston but im a southern boy at heart ! haha

Like Ive said before commenting on these videos I have a super coupe. The brake systems on these things suck cause its gonna cost me a lot of money but boy are they fun to drive. Mines a five speed. Have no idea why someone would have bought an automatic one new.
She cleans up good!!!! If you need good used parts for the Super Coupe go to TBSC Shop and Supercoupe Performance. Your Thunderbird is highly optioned. What are you going to do with it? I have a 1992 Thunderbird Sport myself, Ford only made 17,000 of those for the 91 and 92 model years.

Great job! I've used some Meguiars Ultimate Compound with a foam ball on a drill, to buff out my headlight lenses. It made a huge difference.

When I get a project that gnarly I scrub it down with Ajax or Comet powder soap. Works great.
