- 2ND VIDEO OF THE DAY. This Slipknot song really shocked me compared to the others we have listened to so far. Spit It Out seems to be structured so differently and I feel like this is a song that would easily convert a lot of Rap fans.

Early Slipknot had definite rap-nu-metal vibes to it.
More than vibes, they were the peak definition of Nu-Metal imo. Rapping, DJ, heavy as fuck, they were 110% through and through peak Nu-Metal.

Not a huge fan, but I sure do respect what they did for heavy music over the years, and Joey is one of the best metal drummers of all time.

Love Slipknot. They changed the sound of metal. Their debut album is one of the greatest I've heard. Saw them in '99, their debut year. Absolutely insane show. They set fire to all 3 drum kits at the end of the show. Madness!! Can't wait to see your reaction to this MB 🤘🏻
There's 2 live versions of this that you might enjoy, first is live at download "Jump the f**k up" and then after that Corey doing this live on an acoustic guitar (you'll see why you need to do it in that order as he kinda has a play with what he did at download). Loving the reactions dude, it's a pleasure watching you discover all this music

This was by far and away the most floored I have been by hearing any band/album on first listen. I fondly remember 17 year old me randomly buying the cd just because the masks kind of reminded me of gwar lol. Then I was just blown away track after track after track driving way faster than I should of been in my 1990 eagle talon on the back roads in east Tennessee.
I first saw Slipknot in 1999 at Ozzfest. 2nd stage. They were unknown then. 9 maniacs on a stage absolutely Killing it. I was instantly a fan. They so so much fun. Aggressive, hard, fast and passionate. They have never really lost their edge.
I'm sure TONS of people have said you need to see this live from Download...there's a reason why. It's incredible. The crowd control and music. Trust us!

Slipknot is one of those bands where there'll never be another one, know what I mean. So original. Yo, still waiting for that GODSMACK Straight Out Of Line video, you gotta see how that drummer drums! I know you'll pause it, look at us and WTF how does he drum like that...crazy!
"Is he rapping?" Yup, showing my age, before the term Nu Metal was coined, it was called rap rock because the roots were rapping over live played rock/metal. This was more of a thing earlier on in the scene, there was less rapping as things went on, but this i think was an earlyish album of theirs. If you ever want to dive into the history, check out the Judgement Night aoundtrack. The whole album was putting a hip hop group together with a metal band and letting them get on with it. Some worked better than others, but it was an interesting preview of what was to come. Of course the deep deep foundation was Anthrax doing Bring the Noise with Public Enemy and the Aerosmith/Run-DMC collab on Walk This Way blew up huge around the and time. Before that Anthrax did I'm the Man on their own which was the best thing ever when i heard it at the time, because i was listening to Slayer and Metallica as well as BDP/EPMD/Public Enemy and others already.

Yep, this one hits, even for an old metal head from the 80/90's. I need to see them in concert. If you haven't done Nightmare from Avenged Sevenfold, you're missing out. The first time I heard that one in my early 40's, I was like this is everything that I love about metal in one song. Lamb of God! I really need to see it.
This was the song that allowed me to ascend. All of metal lay before me after I found this song.
That kind of flow is prominent in their debut self-titled album. You should def check out more from that album.

Maybe Revolver? IDK. My friend showed it to me and the masks freaked the hell outta me. First time I've seen masks in music. And, the actual pioneers of masks in music.

Those metallic drums are metal pipes being hit on empty beer kegs. Which is where they get their industrial metal genre nod. And there's a samples and media dude which is where you get the odder noises and clips of people speaking and whatnot.

I think the live version from the Disasterpieces DVD is a lot better. Earlier Slipknot, more raw and it was in their crazy Iowa phase. Everyone always says do live at Download but I feel it's because of how huge the crowd size is. It's a decent performance, but anyway, just my opinion. I'm fuckin high haha my bad, these edibles got me responding to random folks on the Interwebs 🤣🤣🤣
That was a lot of people's complaint when SLIPKNOT first came out that they were rap/rock. Their first album is the best in my opinion, especially if you find a pressing with "Purity" on it instead of the song they replaced it with while they were being sued.
Slipknot Spit It Out, at Download 2009 is a MUST watch. You won't be disappointed.

I remember going to a.Slipknot show in St Paul MN. It was my 12 year old daughters first concert and I let her go on the floor with my brother and his wife. During this song when they did the "Jump the f##k up!" Break down I saw my daughter jump.up then get swallowed into what looked like a big human toilet. It was crazy! She still.says its the most fun she's ever.had.
Still from the best slipknot album ever!!! Saw them first at reading 2000 and I’ve seen them 15 more times live since. 1999 was the best metal scene ever in the history of metal you had to be there to realise how cool the metal scene was. Every weekend in London was like meeting up with metal friends and seeing the best metal acts before they were metal gods. Slipknot were no different new blood and ready to have the best time. This is off their first studio album. It's probably their best. It's between that and Iowa. This album changed everything.Nothing sounded like this when it was released. It's an absolute banger. Sic , Eyeless, Wait & Bleed, Liberate, Spit it out. Every song is on point, a straight metal masterpiece. To call this nu metal is an insult. They were at Ozzfest that year, and no one knew who they were. After the tour, everyone knew who they were.

I know it's way out of chronological order, but I am going to start stumping for my favorite Slipknot song right now...from 2019, "Unsainted" is, to me their greatest song...I'll get killed for this opinion, but it just hits me hard...it took the place of Duality when it dropped... Surfacing is my favorite from their first album hits you like a ton of bricks flying off a semi truck into your face. Also highly recommend disasterpiece as well probably their heaviest song they have music wise. Lyric-wise scissors and iowa are almost hard to listen to but that's what gives them their weight.
Some trivia:The concept of the video clip is clearly referential to Stanley Kubrick's legendary horror flick "The Shining" starring Jack Nicholson

Slipknot was a beast when they came out. This song was one of my intros to metal. It was on my first mix cd lol. Check out Corey Taylor's song with Tech n9ne, Wither I think it's called.
Slipknot and Limp Bizkit were the main bands that used turntables in the nu-metal era. I remember when this first dropped in the rock clubs in London and it was insane. I was lucky enough to meet the band the night before their first UK gig at the Astoria in London and got guest-listed for the show.
