I was in this crowd and it was the most incredible show. From the very first second he had us in the palm of his hand! Nothing will ever come close as a live experience.
My understanding is that there was a group of I think Radio DJ's in Iowa when Slipknot were coming up that wouldn't play their stuff and ran them down on air and talked a whole bunch of mess so this was Corey's way of striking back. It's a look at me now song. I did what you didn't.
When he stops singing and talking to the crowd and its a riff over and over, they do this every single time they play this song live. I've seen them 10x and the very first time I saw them was in a small venue in Lacrosse WI, he was yelling at people who wouldn't get down on one knee, the whole damn audience, on the floor in the seats EVERYONE got down trust me, and when they start playing and he lets loose with "JUMP THE FUCK UP" its chaos and its beautiful. Maggot for life 🤘
I'm never a big fan of drumming but i can drum a little bit but Joey just built different. Makes me shivers when everytime i saw him. Too bad he's gone. RIP. and for Paul, thank you for inspiring me to play bass, he was the reason how i ended up in music school. RIP too.
Slipknot didn't get a lot of airtime on radio in their beginning. A local station that would play their music was having a feud with another local radio station, Slipknot wrote the song as a diss for their station against the one that were keeping them off radio.

Metal Mondays have become a fantastic way to relax after a day of hard work. I started as a hip-hop/rap fan (I enjoy great lyrics) but then I discovered Linkin Park and that’s how I found most beautiful music genre of all time. Keep it up with the metal content. Can’t wait for you to react to Deftones. Digital Bath is a good starter, or Passenger. Both are from the fantastic White Pony album.
This was awesome, man. Loved how you got in to the vibe with the live atmosphere and everything! I'd love to see you react to some grunge era music next. Maybe The Rooster by Alice In Chains? Some great lyrics and awesome vocal performance on that one.
I remember when I was first learning these lyrics, it took awhile even on the non live version to read it and keep up with him, this song among many others. Metal, but Taylor can rap.
8:15 when you talk about dread and fear and the music... music is actually about tension and releasing... if we hear three notes our brain knows the net one and there's tension until we get to it
No shame to Joey but if you want to see the master who invented the drum platform live show antics that's none other than Tommy Lee. Dude legit has a roller coaster track that takes him all around the venue. The Official music video for Motley Crue's Wild Side has him spinning end over end in place. Granted his drumming is far easier than what Joey is playing but still pretty insane.
Everyone has exactly the same reaction the first time they see Joey get tipped over and spun around on the drums and it is awesome... we definitely lost a legend when we lost Joey
Great reaction! Glad you liked it. You should check out Corey Taylor performing this song live and acoustic in London 2018. It starts at 1:49:18 in the full show video. It's amazingly different and I'm sure it would be interesting for you as an artist. If you don't want to do a reaction do yourself a favour and watch it at least just for yourself. Fun fact: Corey did some rap features with Kid Bookie and Tech N9ne. Do you remember your reaction to the Falling in Reverse trilogy ages ago? The guy screaming in the middle of "Drugs" was Corey. You ought to check out Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope (Live in Colorado 2016). Six of the most incredible musicians you'll ever lay eyes on. Clean singing, harsh vocals, a violin, insane drummer, bassist, two amazing guitar players. Magic made into sound.
I was in this crowd and it was the most incredible show. From the very first second he had us in the palm of his hand! Nothing will ever come close as a live experience.
The Gravitron. Tommy Lee's spinning drum kit on the Girls, Girls, Girls tour was also awesome.
This was my first festival and first time seeing slipknot live. This was insane being in this crowd of 90 thousand people during spit it out!
Maggot for life 🤘
Yessir! This performance goes crazy!
I'm never a big fan of drumming but i can drum a little bit but Joey just built different. Makes me shivers when everytime i saw him. Too bad he's gone. RIP. and for Paul, thank you for inspiring me to play bass, he was the reason how i ended up in music school. RIP too.
I saw them last year and it was brutal brutal show and Corey is just awesome
Slipknot didn't get a lot of airtime on radio in their beginning. A local station that would play their music was having a feud with another local radio station, Slipknot wrote the song as a diss for their station against the one that were keeping them off radio.
I always love your Metal Mondays, can you please do Ice Nine Kills, Trivium, or Arch Enemy for a Metal Monday?
Ice nine kills but gotta be in the right order like NF.
@@DCVerThe3rd agreed
Hell yes Arch Enemy's Nemesis! 🤘
Just subscribed. Been a slipknot/metal fan for 20 years now. Welcome to the metal community. You are officially a maggot now. Metal music changed my life forever.
Is anyone surprised? Metal is far superior to any other genre.
Another great Metal Monday!! Thank you, and keep 'em coming!!
if you wanna hear corey actually rapping, lookup kid bookie stuck in my ways.hes from england if i recall or moonshine bandits live the madness he raps on too
Or CMFT Must Be Stopped with Kid Bookie and Tech N9ne
This is the one I was waiting for! Knox you the man!!
Slipknot is always gonna be the best
Absolute greats of the genre man, RIP Paul and Joey
Metal Mondays have become a fantastic way to relax after a day of hard work. I started as a hip-hop/rap fan (I enjoy great lyrics) but then I discovered Linkin Park and that’s how I found most beautiful music genre of all time. Keep it up with the metal content. Can’t wait for you to react to Deftones. Digital Bath is a good starter, or Passenger. Both are from the fantastic White Pony album.
I’ve seen them live three times over the past 20 years. They do not disappoint!
This was awesome, man. Loved how you got in to the vibe with the live atmosphere and everything! I'd love to see you react to some grunge era music next. Maybe The Rooster by Alice In Chains? Some great lyrics and awesome vocal performance on that one.
Down in a hole too !!
Man In the Box too... fkn fire
“Now let’s start yelling” lovely way to describe a show tbh💀😂
You know he was a phenomenal drummer when his center of gravity was thrown off he just kept banging away like it never even happened LOL.
RIP Joey J.💔
It was two djs from his home town that talked shit about him and the band and refused to give them air time.
I remember when I was first learning these lyrics, it took awhile even on the non live version to read it and keep up with him, this song among many others. Metal, but Taylor can rap.
8:15 when you talk about dread and fear and the music... music is actually about tension and releasing... if we hear three notes our brain knows the net one and there's tension until we get to it
You shoudl totally react to Corey Taylor’s CMFT feat Kidbookie and….Techn9ne 🎉 And fun fact: Slipknot had a recent beef w none other than MGK lol
A hundred times and it still gives me chills
No shame to Joey but if you want to see the master who invented the drum platform live show antics that's none other than Tommy Lee. Dude legit has a roller coaster track that takes him all around the venue. The Official music video for Motley Crue's Wild Side has him spinning end over end in place. Granted his drumming is far easier than what Joey is playing but still pretty insane.
Everyone has exactly the same reaction the first time they see Joey get tipped over and spun around on the drums and it is awesome... we definitely lost a legend when we lost Joey
No life by slipknot is a good reaction, demonstrates CT’s flows
Cross off by Mark Morton and Chester Bennington as well!!
Rap, true rap and metal are brothers. This why there are so many collabs between rappers and metal artists. Both are pure emotion.
Greetings from Germany
Love that you appreciate Corey, I am so very here for it
