- My daily Mk4 VW Golf GTi turbo 1.8t AGU developed a mystery misfire, see how I fixed it!
One thing to note, I'm not a trained mechanic and I am working on my own vehicle. Maybe it broke because its supposed to be fitted on/in the stock airbox. Cool air flows passed it that way. I think because yours is just hanging there it doesn't get cooled enough.

thanks for the comment - yeah, you might be right, i'll try position it better to get some cooling - probably did cook itself... although i think its been this way for years... to my knowledge its the first time its ever been changed, so not doing too badly i guess lol
@@SlickRick365 you can try fitting it on a larger heatsink (old CPU heatsink) with some fresh thermal paste. You'd have to drill holes to make it fit.

We have the same agu motor but i cant see mpg, or klm per hour, how can you see that? Also you can put thermopaste from pc in order to have good contact to through away the temperature. thank you.
I have an AUM but carnt locate the ignition amplifier. Am i wrong in thinking its doesn't have one?

Hi, i have the similar problem, but in my car, there is a "jumping" effect, while engine is cold, shortly after engine start. In your car -this situation appeared when engine was only warm or cold too? THX
i think you might have a MAF sensor fault
sounds right to me... try unplugging it - see if it worsens... if not, i think its most likely to be the culprit. Have you done any error code scanning?
Hi guys.I have golf mk4 gti 1.8 turbo AUM and i have problem with red oil light when i drive, i stopped turn off engine and drive again and oil red light is gone?What's the problem?Thanks!💪
Oil pick up pipe in sump
interestingly, ive had the red oil light flash on recently too... over the years ive ran various 'cleaners' through prior to an oil change, but i might have to crack the sump off and take a look. I did chance the oil pressure switch which cured it for it a bit, but its back. Another thing ive noticed too is the service light flashes on whenever it wants? I started to think it was an electrical issue...
Was it just one cylinder misfiring?
Hey man - sorry, i missed this comment... it was hard to pin point to be honest, it was like all cylinders, all at once - seriously down on power... does that help?
I knew the common issue o these engines was the ignition amp, it was a good place to start - fortunately, it solved the issue and has been perfect ever since.
