@@hoost3056 we did a video specifically breaking the cost of just the parts. Although this setup seems easy and cheap because it's in a clapped out car the good parts and labor add up real quick.
I’m wondering if the Eurodyne Meastro setup I have would work for this? I think there’s a 870cc file that then can be customized. Do you have any knowledge or experience with this for the AEB file?
Yes, ran Maestro on big turbo 1.8t AEB for years. It works, just not nearly as good as newer 1.8t ECUs, however for the AEB there isn't a lot of options so it is what it is.
@@DustySteel Edited my post above to specifically say big turbo 1.8t "AEB's". The issue is, there really isn't much else you can try aside from going standalone... which again there really isn't any PNP adapter harnesses to make that a simple option either. You're just working with a very basic ECU in those.

@@COMotorsports thanks for replying! this is just a daily I just want more pep haha I'm thinking either a 1.8 or a vr6 as my next car, which would you rather have?
I’d like to see a budget build with good parts mixed with ebay like let’s say ebay intercooler 80$ vs 300$ knockoff blowoff valve and then something good like a turbo and see if the ebay parts can hold up to real parts all while trying to get a car faster but dang that’s expensive I’d probably cheap out on the intercooler and try to make my own manifolds I’m looking to get a 03 gti 1.8t next week
Most of it's junk, so although can work, it will generally fail prematurely or provide subpar results comparably. We've used "ebay" in many cases... typically it always ends up the same... buying twice. We try to build good reliable street cars, or track cars which are getting heavily abused. So using parts that are failure prone just doesn't work in those instances, or are not worth the risk/investment.
@@COMotorsports no thank you for all the knowledge I’ve been asking this question after buying my B5 A4 Avant…It’s not this 1.8 however I can learn and figure out how to apply it to my application…

All this money, for stock Engine? Breaking barrier of 400nm and you're also breaking the engine for sure :D At least give it forged pistons. 1.8t are fun flexible engines, and you can throw any ammount of money at them. For 300KM+ I would go with hybrid K04-064, it has nice spool from low RPM or TD04. 620CC injectors. Fuel pump same, or DW65. Flywheel, VR6 in kevlar. And what bothers me, are BOV's, why touch them if engine is desinged to run on DV.

@@COMotorsports true. Once you look at the price of labor, tuning, etc......the hooptie is at least 10-15k all in.
@@hoost3056 we did a video specifically breaking the cost of just the parts. Although this setup seems easy and cheap because it's in a clapped out car the good parts and labor add up real quick.
is there any major difference between this 1.8t and an audi 225 1.8t besides the ko4?
That one is a little stronger out of the box.
Most 1.8T variants after 200+ HP have k04, 20mm pistons, wide channels. 420nm is Max safe line when it comes to stock engine.
@@Faggi0tto we went a lot further than that. Lol
20mm wrist pins
i was wondering if you could cold start it
Thumbs down. lol
Is it possible to make this power in stock ecu??
I mean the stock ecu is capable of?
Yes, we've done it plenty of times on this channel. It's just more time consuming in most cases.
@@COMotorsports that’s very true. Wasn’t sure if I should try something else or not. If I can make it work for now then awesome.
@@DustySteel Edited my post above to specifically say big turbo 1.8t "AEB's". The issue is, there really isn't much else you can try aside from going standalone... which again there really isn't any PNP adapter harnesses to make that a simple option either. You're just working with a very basic ECU in those.
@@COMotorsports so what would you do in my shoes? Or what was your setup? Just run the Maestro?
@@DustySteel all depends what you're doing with it and your goals. Maestro is very limiting on AEB.
would you guys ever work on a 1.4t? I had to get one due to budget issues and I wanna know if it's able to be made faster, I've got an intake and exhaust but thinking about a downpipe and a tune.
Tuning it will be the best bang for the dollar you'll ever do to it. After that buy a different engine if you want more power.
@@COMotorsports thanks for replying! this is just a daily I just want more pep haha I'm thinking either a 1.8 or a vr6 as my next car, which would you rather have?
Neither, MK7 2.0T of some variation. Endless options for mods, and easy power.
Search stephen motorsport from malta, they got one mad fast
@@TaNaqra oh damn I'll be sure to check that out thanks!
I wanna see a race between another car around the same power range. You guys think that will happen?
No, it's not leaving the dyno until it's broke.
I’d like to see a budget build with good parts mixed with ebay like let’s say ebay intercooler 80$ vs 300$ knockoff blowoff valve and then something good like a turbo and see if the ebay parts can hold up to real parts all while trying to get a car faster
but dang that’s expensive I’d probably cheap out on the intercooler and try to make my own manifolds I’m looking to get a 03 gti 1.8t next week
Most of it's junk, so although can work, it will generally fail prematurely or provide subpar results comparably. We've used "ebay" in many cases... typically it always ends up the same... buying twice. We try to build good reliable street cars, or track cars which are getting heavily abused. So using parts that are failure prone just doesn't work in those instances, or are not worth the risk/investment.
cold start lol hahaha, i think that's the most funny thing that i heard in last 98765 car videos :D
Glad someone else can appreciate my pain. :)
You already goin g around 10 plus at the end 15. 20 whith labor
Now Don’t forget the 10$ shifter bushing kit 😅
Are you by chance running a cat on these 1.8t that you always do …any benefits of deleting it or better to keep it ??
Thanks guys keep it up 👍 💯
More than likely no Cat
Not on most of them. If you have a high quality cat there will be little difference.
@@COMotorsports thanks guys, I do it’s gonna be just for the street so I wanna keep the cat …👍😎
Cold start ,never understand that.
You talking about at least 12gs all together in the year 22. 23
I subscribed just because of the intro...lol...
Thanks for joining in.
@@COMotorsports no thank you for all the knowledge I’ve been asking this question after buying my B5 A4 Avant…It’s not this 1.8 however I can learn and figure out how to apply it to my application…
Wait you guys don’t hold a to 5K rpms rev on cold start? 👁👄👁
I can’t stand coldstart videos either haha.
Are you on instagram? What would the labour cost
Labor varies by your location, what parts are being installed, quality of parts being installed, state of vehicle...the list is long and each project is different.
Next video, how much can we make on a stock 2.7t 🤷♂️🤔
Ain't nobody want to work on those. lol
Lol I just made a cold start video 🤦🏾😂😂😂
did it ever explode? 😂
It made 600whp. I think it did alright for stock engine. 😉
@@COMotorsports Would be very nice to take a look at the peak point, the graph. Because that's some real numbers.
@@Faggi0tto it's all documented. The highlights will be in it next video.
@@Faggi0tto Or you can skip to the end of our live stream video. All the runs in that live stream are over 500whp.
I think the question here is why would anyone not want to hear the cold start of a turbo car?
The question is why would anyone want to hear that?
Dave I have the formula for 1m+ subscribers for you. You only need to look at Scotty Kilmers channel. Tailor yourself after him and the followers will flock to you. You are already halfway there with some small rants.
I think we need some videos of just Dave telling stories or ranting about the things he has seen. Rant about the vw vortex days lol.
I will make sure I share with all my friends.
Lol oh the ranting I could do. I will check out that channel...never heard of him. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the comments. 👍
likeed
Take it up 1/4 mile strip.
It's dead of winter here, and it will l likely be dead before summer.
Nobody wants to hear an engine start at -30 degrees out here in canada😂
yet people do for some reason.
LOL @ the price.
So your telling me 10k in beaver bucks and not even 1 bolt on the motor is touched lol wow
It's what it costs.
Beaver Bucks lol
🤣🤣🤣
Why Americans insist on standalone for big turbo 1.8ts is beyond me... The standard me7.5 is more than capible
It's called flexibility.
@@COMotorsports granted, things like meastro and ignitron give benifets but for what your doing there you don't need stand alone.
I know You know more than me In regards to tuning them.
I just don't understand why it's Mainly Americans that ditch the me7.5 ecu which is completely capible of running even a gt35.
@@matk22 if you see on our channel 95% of the build use stock ECUs. This just made it easier and much quicker since we had an ECU here for a completely different project. Again where the flexibility comes in.
@@COMotorsports again appreciate that but you was running numbers and stating you need a Standalone unless I miss understood
Yea i follow your channel. And seen what you do and its pretty Cool. I'm surprised this engine has held up.. But goes To show a good tuner can keep timing and fueling in check to keep Numbers low to prevent bending cheese rods.
@@matk22 nope didn't state standalone was required. Made this power plenty of times on stock ECU....this was just easier as mentioned. I'm not being paid for the hours tuning this car, so wasting time reflahsing the stock ecu over and over again doesn't make sense. This was about getting the job done as quickly and as cost effectively as possible. Since we had an ECU kicking around it made the most sense.
Raffle the car out
Lol, everyone loses in that case.
@@COMotorsports crazy 👀 got jokes
Funny, never answers the question.
You clearly didn't watch the video.
