  • Ran the Humvee M998 up Connector Trail and Moose Meadow. Toughest trail yet. Much steeper incline than what shows on camera. Thanks to my wife for taking video and packing some great food.
    Shout out to Tall Tim for organizing the event. Thanks to everybody that participated.

    Awesome looking trails. For those downhill trails where you are slipping, low lock and 1st gear work really well. Just let the transmission do the work, no brakes. I have an M998 and it is awesome offroad.

      I didn’t think about it that day. You are correct. I went back later (you’ll see that video) and did it again. And my brain went out the door and I locked it up and slid down like an idiot. But didn’t flip it or wreck so we will call it a win.

    Badass trail. BTM is very helpful. Brake throttle modulation will lock the torsen differentials. There's a bunch of videos on how to.

    • @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures
      @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures  Рік тому +1

      It is so backwards in my mind to apply brake while trying to throttle out of a hole. I suck at it. Usually think about it after I’m stuck! Seasons changing. Now those trails are muck and mud. Can’t wait to go back and try again.

    Is a humvee giving a ride,or does it hurt your back and body.

    • @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures

      That is a great question. Overall it rides well and the bucket seats are a big help. But a hard trail will make me sore. Going to 8 psi in the tires helps a lot.

    Just thinking Woww these Humvee's go anywhere vehicle
    And over the next crest you arrive at Camp,
    Two Toyota's already there🥴

    • @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures

      Truth. But. You will notice the Toyotas are highly modified to run those trails. Takes a lot to get a 37” tire to run on those.

      Just a GoPro and an iPhone 13. I’m glad you enjoyed it. My goal is to give people especially Humvee people or those that might want to buy one an idea of what it is capable of doing and NOT doing in the real world. Let’s face it. They leak, rattle, smell bad, and ride rough. Oh and are slow and clumsy but off road I’ve found it to be amazing and like a trusted horse that you know how it is going to react at each change in the trail. I just wish we had more Humvee guys up here to trail together. I’m the only big fat truck and am outnumbered by far by the Jeep’s and Toyotas.

    • @MyHumveeMathilda
      @MyHumveeMathilda Рік тому

      @@McSpeedAlaskanAdventures totally man! Wish I were there too, my truck needs a little off road, she’s been pampered delivering stuff on a military base (Fort Bragg) all her life. Lol. Also people think that since it’s a humvee it’ll just go through obstacles with no resistance, but it takes skill and understanding of the 4x4 gear shift to drive right, and knowing when to ease in and out and when to apply torque. You did great in the snow. 👍

    Is the Jeep Gladiator JT better than the Humvee and have people replace the Humvee for the Jeeps? 11-13-23

    • @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures
      @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures  6 місяців тому

      It all depends on how modified the Jeep is. Box stock to box stock with 37" tires and16" ground clearance the Humvee comes out of the gate fighting. The Jeep with a lift kit, better axles/gears, and larger tires will compete with a Humvee all day - and do a way better job on the highway.

    • @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures

    • @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures
      @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures  8 місяців тому

      @@DavidEAragon I bought mine from someone who had already processed the original paper work from the gov planet auction. I then worked with dirt legal to obtain and forward all the paperwork to process it. I also made the street modifications that were missing. I was then able to get insurance and the registration. It cost extra going through dirt legal but was worth it because they know what they are doing. The only limit on speed is the truck is slow. It will do 65 mph with a tail wind and down hill push! But no problem running 55-60 steady as needed except hills. If you get one go with a 6.5 and the four speed trans and you can run 70 mph plus. A turbo model would be a real plus.
