the reviews for this app are very worrisome...
Man what's the brand of the light that thing went through the dune's and then a Sand mountain and then 100 miles down the road 😂
Put an 8.1 with raylar everything in it. The ls will just be a turd. The 8.1 will be a pump gas monster
The LS will be interesting. Personally I would've gone with a duramax or Cummins swap but it ain't my truck so good luck boys!
I love seeing you guys live through all the decades of pain military mechanics have felt working on Humvees lol. They were great when they worked. But god damn did you want to use them for target practice when they became constant parts grinders.
Awesome she made it home. Now rip that engine and drive train out and Cummins swap it. Would be nice seeing that. Alright boys great video and can't wait for see more of the Humvee saga later.
Great having you guys in the shop!😎
I wonder if that maglight was they found was the same one that survived a winter season 😂
I guess the next collab, you'll have to get your light back 😂
Y'all are the real mvp's. Love your channel also.
That was a bonus getting to see the FabRats.
Love you guy's!👍
Two of my favorite UA-camrs in one place. Collaboration is good.
Man, yall should reach out to C90 Adventures, the guy rode a old C90 from the top of Alaska to the tip of Argentina. He also drove a mini jeep 1000 miles through the UTAH desert to Moab. Can't help but think if yall built him a vehicle then sent him out on a ridiculous adventure, it would be amazing.
His videos are amazing
That man is funny as fuck and knows how to entertain 😆
Have you started his Utah to area 51 yet?
Definitely my favorite channel
He likes to build his own creations
Great meeting you guys and a total honor having yall hang with us at the shop. Such a rare power steering pump and the fact that we had one to give was a miracle. Hope everyone is mentally prepared for one of the most wild humvee builds documented on the internet. Ethan has some plans up his sleeves and that sand hill in southern Utah is gonna get slaughtered at high speed next round. Cant wait to see the next video. Love these guys
You guys are the absolute stars of this video, without ya’ll we may not have made it! Cheers boys. 🤘🏼🍻
@@ElevatedOverland Im pretty sure you guys would have found a way home.. the near by lake has some strong putty you guys could have forged in a cilm with snake skin and formed your own pulley. The belt would have been woven from all your beards combined to make up exactly 8 ribs at 113" in length. You would have also eaten the snake meat and thereby had the strength to continue your labors till you reached the promised land.
You guys kept this project rolling! I'm excited to see what you all come up with next round.

Love your channel mate!
Ethans the most talented example of skill and perseverance that always looks like he just woke up in a homeless camp. RESPECT!!!!
I think he might have met his match in Patrick - he clearly loves his craft as a videographer just as much. I need more people who love their work that much in my life
His makeup artist quit 1/10 of the way on the trip. It's for the best. It weeds out all of the vein people.😂
His makeup artist was a mini-comb😅
Mad Scientists never look like real scientists until you see them tame the monsters they create. then you know
I drove a Hummer at the factory with a 350 Chev in it. It was useless. It didn’t have nearly enough torque to overcome all the resistance of the driveline. A modern diesel absolutely is the way to go. Thanks for the videos.
I was going to say the GM 8.1 big block out of a Chevy 2500 of sorts and a supercharger if they really want to go gasser, otherwise I’m with keeping it diesel.
Edwin...1:29:29.... we are missing 00:09:07 of footage 😂😂😂. Great video. Love the journey

Really nice camera work on this. What a trip with such a beautiful scenery. Thanks for the chance to tag along through this video!
totally well-done video that was so fun to be with you along.
Patrick is awesome, he is clearly as much in love with his craft as videographer, as Ethan is as a fabricator.
His smile reciting how miserable things are is so funny, content baby!
Did Patrick do all the camera work on this?
a lot a feet shots in this edit for my taste
There is something poetic about a vehicle built for war, being used for recreational activities, and actually excelling in it. W rebranding.
Yes, but they need a bigger gearbox. I don't know why militaries skimp on gears. These hummers would be much more fun with a bunch of extra gears.
218 Auto needs a UA-cam channel so we can all subscribe to them.
Thanks! Maybe one day well get a solid flow of content. For now, we are just trying to get some cars fixed.

Fab rats needs drones. That country is so gorgeous from the sky. That's all, continue on.
Then next thing you know everyone and their mom's are going to move out there and fuck up the land and landscape and probably more lol.let people figure it out themselves with ground views n maybe get a glance of views.you don't want Utah becoming another San Francisco or Los Angeles or Oregon now do you?

The scenery on this road trip was EPIC but you guys made the trip PREMIUM. Camera work was outstanding.
Will was missed.
I wanna watch Grindsoft
turning rugged and crazy vehicles into child-friendly stuff 😊
Guys these videos! Like a documentary of a mechanic, an engineer, a true American hero and quite possibly most interesting man in the world. Lol for real the documentary of picking these up were top notch
I love it. I kina still think that there is a certain off road viper that should have a cameo next to it....
I was thinking the same thing!
When you pulled up to the 218 Auto shop I literally said "what the fuck". Like come on mint green H1 in the lot and a spankin clean chassis on the lift? These guys are ABSOLUTE experts.
I enjoyed this video .. one suggestion for future road trips: use a progress map to show how the trip is going as each town or event along the way is achieved.
5:46 👀There's a pretty big reason they didn't compress. There's a run flat inset, Either a two piece magnesium or more than likely for the age a solid rubber donut. There are two paths you can take Either pull the rubber donut out and shave it, or there are multiple companies that make inserts from PVC pipe. When it's in the tire/wheel it will prevent the bead from pulling off even down to zero pressure. (Google HMMWV wheel recenters for the rock crawlers who use HMMWV based rims for that very reason)
EDIT: I can't help but remember almost a decade ago Dirt Every Day swapped out their HMMWV wheels for "Weight saving" a standard set with Micky Ts and busted the beads like 7 times in a trail race. Yeah all that weight reduction really saved them.....
The fact that you can tie that in with a dirt every day reference. A+ to you as a YT fan.
I just wanted to say thanks for being the inspiration I need to get my projects done. You guys rock!
Watching this makes me think back to watching GHPC from the start. So many channels have changed. Hoonigan is a husk. Donut is going the same way but grind hard. You got better. Sad Will left but I still miss Sam and his police charger build. Looking forward to the aweosme future of this channel. Your content is pure unscripted daftness. In five years time the videos will be "we bought an f15 and we are going to swap its motor into a suzuki cappachino." Bjorn will be sitting in the pilot seat in the thumbnail.
If you haven't yet I'd check out Big Time Jerimiah and Jobe from Donut split off to do their own thing. It's early days but their first few videos are bangers.
When did Will leave?
@@richardfoshee3244 will left about two weeks ago. He has his own channel called BUM. His reasons for leaving are legit and Bum isnt bad. He will be missed but life is like that. We make friends and sometimes they have to go. It was handled super classy by everyone.
@@SmolPotatowo I hear James from Donut might be going to Big Time aswell. Im liking what they are making.
Its funny to see Fab Rats shop with high production value. What a difference. Paul needs to hire a professional camera guy and a better editor. He has so much potential.
They teach "throttle brake modulation" in the advanced HMMWV course as a way of locking up the differential enough to climb when your wheels spin.
I almost guarantee he learned it online
@@ryurc3033 Maybe. It's a trick passed down in off-roader circles too.
And now AWD systems use... you guessed it... brake pressure to act as a "locker"!
Ya'll have me confused here. Why does it matter where he learned it? I'm not even sure what it has to do with anything that they teach this in the advanced Hmmdngr class... but thats just a good ole fun fact, so I can't hate it.
@@TrismegistusMx
Absolutely is. It's how a torsen differential works.
There is a heat exchanger inside the transfer case. So fluid flows from the transmission to the cooler to the heat exchanger to the transmission. The fluid is not supposed to mix, if the heat exchanger fails then the transmission fluid pumps into the transfer and then out into the vent system possibly ending up in the differential, hubs, or air filter.
That’s the stupidest shit idk why they did that
Honestly we need more videos like this, this was the best 1 hour and 20 minutes on youtube
I didn't think it was possible, but at 55 minutes and 33 seconds in, you guys actually overtook another vehicle. The fact that it was a loaded semi going up a hill shouldn't matter. Congratulations!
😂😂😂
Seriously though, love seeing you guys out on an adventure. ❤
The quality of your videos are better than most movies! Well done. Best channel on youtube
Thank you!
The GHPC drama magnet is tuned for high performance once again. Imagine that. I luv that no matter what life throws on you. You guys dig out and carry on!!
Yeah if it beats or stumps Ethan then you're in very serious trouble lol. I don't think there's much of anything that will stop him if he has his mind set on something.
The part at 1:10:20 is amazing. The way the jazz ends perfectly with the tone of the compressor made my day.
Since the decline of Top Gear, Grand Tour, Road Kill, Dirt Everyday... I haven't realized how I missed unreliable cars on cross country road trips stories. I love these movies, thank you!
you know...most of us dont recognize is the production time/effort it takes to produce a video.
Oh wow!
.....
...So?
We don't "notice" it because we just don't think about it. It's not our problem, or our business to care.
I'll bet you it takes a ton of time/effort to film an Adam Sandler Netflix movie too. You know why I didn't "notice" that before? Because I never sat down and asked myself, "I wonder how much time and effort it takes to film an Adam Sandler Netflix movie?" If I had, would've answered: A lot.
I'll bet if you asked anyone this question about the effort involved in making these vidya's, I'm quite certain they'd also answer: "a lot." ...And in a tone that screams "I'm bored with you pest, be gone."
I mean wow, that person was incredibly rude, right? They aren't wrong though... To call you a pest... with their tone of voice......... Yep....
Anyway. Totally joking. I have no negative feelings toward you, in fact I'm the one being a pest at this point. I'm just havin' some fun, cruisin' some comments, bein' a pest. While I wait for... NONE YA BUSINESS, QUIT ASKING! So yeah... later bro!

Will was such a character he will be missed
I couldn't agree more! He was meant to be a GHPC member. I'm sad he had to leave.
He was a key part to the team, his personality alone was crucial comedic part of the trio
Will wasn't sketchy enough for this Humvee.
@@RobertOBrien-jk2bz yeah but that's part of his corky idiotic sarcastic chaos he adds to the group. That shot of you guys, the landscape and clouds at 24:30 is what life's about!
This is exceptionally well made, from the storytelling to the footage and music - Some of the best content currently on UA-cam!
Heck yeah man thank you!
Beautiful break spot to break down. Could even go for a swim, and relax. Shocking how well it performed in the sand. In the Fab rats video didn't really get an idea of how far it bent the steering linkage.
You guys are nutballs for going that far with it.
At least with a supercharged LS, a replacement 4l80 will hold up to whatever you throw at it.
Plenty of them with a simple shift kit survive over 700hp trans brake launches. Cant wait to see what happens next
I love this channel more than anything on UA-cam. This looks like the beginning of the most difficult but most rewarding journey ever. I love it and enjoy watching every single minute of you guys rocking this world!!!
I loved the trio, one got cicked out for some reason. I dont feel comfortable.
War Pig scratched into the dash is awesome. You cant beat cross country trip with friends.
These trips are what brings you together as a core. Although over time parts of the trip will be forgotten but your building your group of great people will. Really that’s the only wealth we have in life
Alligator jerky being "wild" shows how far north yall are 😂 that's a normal thing down south bubba
I was looking and i thought i noticed a name engrained in the dash. I think itd be really cool to try to find the oerson tied to that name as it was probably their Humvee when it was in service and give them a off-road ride in it when it's done.
Dude that’s so awesome, stuff like that is what I dream about doin with my 2 boys and just give them the memories that wouldn’t ever be forgotten. I’m editing this post just to add that y’all made a awesome video and the camaraderie with all the bros and the views as y’all push on without letting anything get y’all bummed out . Super well done either and the other 2 bros.
I remember going from the Willis Jeep to the Hummer in the army, when the Hummer was new they were great but when they started messing up they were hard to keep going
The people, story, camerawork and music. Perfect. Just perfect. Great job guys and big respect to Edwin for the edit.

Hey well done you guys, thanks for persevering through all the hardships on the trip and taking us along for the trip! Can't wait to see what you all make with the Humvees and how well they perform once you're able to really strip it all down and re-built them to the specs your looking for! It'll be sick!
This was the best thing in a long time. All the difficulties and successes made this video epic. Hopefully this will become something of a tradition.
23:23 when you upsize the tires, you have to upsize all the components that are related to that too. In your case, remember that bit that adjusted the speedo? This unit was already running on reserve. So you didn't upsize "a little" you upsized a lot. Like half a foot a lot. You'll 100% need to beef up the entire steering package on this if you want it to work without being a nightmare and a parts chewer (so many people get this wrong with these machines - and others, not through their fault, but because it's not a common topic, and in particular, because h-vees are not civie machines, so not much proper data online).
I don't think these machines were meant to run all day at highway speeds either. Probably shouldn't have pushed it more than 55mph for long distances like that. Maybe why it overheated so often.
@@izzyryder4969 They'll do it obviously, but they don't like it. Just like when they were towing and everything, they effectively force it to do stuff it isn't intended to do with no knowledge of how to at least mitigate it properly (They needed a driver in the towed vehicle to provide steering and brake, and they refused to do that until they destroyed the fucking tow bar even after a million signs saying as such, on top of way overspeeding it) and put already questionable vehicles into much worse shape than they already were. It's kinda fun to watch, but also pretty frustrating as a result
The humvee journey continues💪🏼

There is a ring that is supposed to bolt on to reinforce the flex plate. It is the same design as on 1980's Ford Escort automatic transmissions. It's hard to believe a little ring can prevent the plate from shearing out.
Maybe they could get better flex plate durability by using a Mezeire racing SFI certified billet flex plate.
