A&E had an old documentary about him.....nuts, especially at the end reveal. I had always hoped someone would do a fan edit video for that song....there is enough old footage to make something creative.

Funny that when they played the cover of “Ain’t That a Shame” that song was 21 years old. Now it’s 47 years since this recording!

Thanks, Bun! These bring back such great memories (or lack thereof) of some of the best nights I ever had in clubs. THESE were the best days...right on the verge!

I'm always struck by how HUGE this band sounds when they start a set. Can you imagine being one of the 3 people in the crowd this night when the sonic tidal wave was unleashed? Somebody get me a time machine, quick!

I LOVE these summer 1976 shows. Great and unique set lists while fleshing out songs that would round out albums later. So glad to hear another one, had always loved hearing what I think is from Waverly beach 7-3-76? before....will we get a dual drumming show with Hammerin' Hank for CT history sake down the line?

    • @buncarlos4588
      @buncarlos4588 Рік тому +4

On the Hank gigs the drums weren’t in the PA much because there were two drummers….so the tapes sounded pretty crummy. Most weren’t kept. If a good sounding one shows up, we’ll post. IMO the band didn’t sound too hot with double drummers. It was somewhat clumsy sounding….

@@buncarlos4588 Absolutely agree! You know ALL of us here love your playing style and the absolute essential quality it brought to the band. I just mentioned for novelty sake. Bless you sir! A sincere Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all these treasures.

What amps were Rick and Robin using here? Definitely has the Robin Fender sound, just so early, assuming Rick with a Marshall something.

This was before Tom got his 1st 12 string bass guitar and I'm still amazed at how great and loud his sound was with his 4 string Gibson Thunderbird bass was!!!!! 👍

Had to do this - Full lyrics for Surrender on this performance:
Mother told me, yes, she told me, I'd meet girls like you
She also told me, "Stay away, you'll not know what you'll catch"
Well just the other day I heard of a soldier's fallin' off
Some Indonesian junk that's goin' 'round
Father says, "Your mother's right, she's really up on things”
Before we married, mommy served in the WACs in the Philippines"
now I had heard the wacs were dykes or lazy fat old whores.
But Mommy’s neither one of those, I've known her all these years
    Chorus:
    Mommy's alright, daddy's alright
They just seem a little weird
    Surrender, surrender
    But don't give yourself away
    hey yeah…
Whatever happened to all this season's murderers and queers?
Every night I got to thinkin' where'd they disappear?
And when I woke up, mommy’s dude, layin’ on the couch.
Daddy’s barkin’ “like oh hell no!” think he’s going to pout…
    chorus x 2

Wow the Orange Monkey. I got my start in bands playing that place a few years after this. I wonder if they gave them free cokes.

OK. OK... What is he saying after mom n dad are on the couch? I had heard the dykes n whores part before, murderers and queers was new but I could understant clearly what he said... What's the lyrics there? It has nothing to do with Kiss records, that's for sure.
