Watched this last week with Harvey Bainbridge. He had not seen it, ever and loved it!
nice, love it myself.
The Golden Void is the greatest piece of classical music ( space rock) ever written and performed on this planet ( I believe they were practicing on another). Eat your hearts out all the orchestras of the world. I'll be going out of this planet playing that at the service. I can't wait.
Nothing beats The Golden Void.
The first time I heard it, I was floored, Dave's power chords, Lemmy grooving effortlessly, the beauty of Simon's violin and that sax tone from Nik is pure psychedelic bliss and a joyful sense of infinite time.
And the highest note ever recorded on a VCS-3!
This version almost equals the original, in one the best post-classical lineups of the Hawks.
but, babymetal teaches us that the multiverse can be transversed by turning girl power up to eleven.
immense harmonic art indeed! Aliens visit Earth to pirate our Music.... ;)
don,t forget the greatest composer of this world i am ofcourse talking about zappa the man is a legend
I'm with you Hawk-brother! Doing an Aldous exit simultaneously!~
Hawkwind, it is and always will be! Stay high, Stay free, 👍👍👍👊✌️🌍.
Thank God for Hawkwind!
And I do 😎👍
Awesome!!! The Greatest psychedelic space rock band of all times.....Hawkwind forever!!!!! Old beautiful memories...phenomenal and legendary band!!!!! Thanks. Enzo57Italy
This violin shots me in the space!
This truly was a magical time for the Mighty Hawkwind
hwind at their best. i saw them so many times always an ace band
Just WoW!
Bridget Wishart is amazing. What a wonderful performance from her. She's so anti-glamour yet also adds so much complex beauty with her vocals and performance art. Timeless band. Hawkwind are definitely one of the best ever.
Agreed. Too many people dislike Bridget for no reason
@@Lena-di2ln She indeed performs and sings well. I never saw her live I regret to say. I fantasize seeing this Poly Sterene or Pauline Murray of Penetration in her place. Bridget resembles Pauline Murray best I think in this fantasy of mine..
@@edmaenhout9184
Polystyrene - - - yeah, that'd be something 😝👍
@@ScottFarquharson-n1y Who is she? How long did she stay around?
@@patkelly8309she was the singer with the band from 89 to 91
The beginning is just so full of anticipation,..like standing on the edge of a cliff ... When they all kick in , the energy fuels our silver machines..
...Simon House from the legendary and absolutely majestic HIGH TIDE...
Absolutely stunning violin by Simon House - fantastico....
TOTALMENTE DE ACUERDO CHRISTIAN!!
I love this show is it just SOOOOO GOOODD!!!!! I did not really know much about this band until I watched and listened to an interview with Lemmy. It opened up a whole new world of some of the most fantastic prog music I did not even know existed !! Thnx to the guys and girls from Hawkwind for many years of great music and shows.
I come back to this over and over, just to hear Simon's violin.
Aw Yeah I Love this band. Long Live Hawkwind
Hadn’t seen this since it was first shown on channel four all those years ago. Brilliant piece of rock history. It’s now on my playlist 👍☝️
Had no idea it was ever aired on tv!
A legendary band. Not many bands can make you feel so uplifted and happy
first time I saw this video of hawkwind it blew me away great music.
Harvey , Master of the Magic Keyboards
Best Version of the Golden Void I have seen and or heard of, Simon House yer man!
David Askew Check out the version on Canterbury Fayre, Simon's there. It's a magnificent live album and many tracks I feel are the best live versions. May just be my favourite live album, either that or Spaced Out In London.
I love this performance takes me away from reality if only for a moment.
One of the best HW line-ups!
The "Masters of the Universe" came "Out of theShadows" and became the "Lords of Light" and will never be put "Back in the Box". I started listening at age 14. I'm now 65 and still riding the good ship HAWKWIND.
The GREATEST BAND EVER NO DOUBT
Emil Ballog I hear that and I agree ☝️
was just wondering how this is not universally acknowledged lol. it's not even close
👍🍄🗝☯️
They are my #1
The Greatest psychedelic space rock band of all times...Hawkwind the BEST.....Hawkwind forever!!!!!
This is my favourite band, always!!! Since 40 years i follow them and this is the only band who makes me travel through a real space psychadélic to the land of tne ancient warriors and i love that my god!!!!!!! The most beautiful ship of sound of the universe....

Someone to pin that
I bought all their albums back in the day....had a great stereo ..big bose speakers...
Mighty mighty hawkwind - soaring throughout the universe on wings of pure light
Saw this band live leeds university 1972 with lemmy and stacia and 30 + more times throughout England.totally adictive still play space ritual and hall of the mountain grill in my car radio.what a power they genrate awsome it's mind blowing think all that acid I took in the seventys has finally left my system.we were born to go as far as we can. fly turn your dreams into reality.what an amazing band.
golden void is a timeless classic itl be played on the edge of time
Saw the band loads accross the UK during the mid 80s to early 90s....happy times. At the end of the UK festival scene in the 80s Hawkwind were a staple with the Ozrics, Magic Mushroom Band, Here and Now and Culture Shock......
Great Cosmic Live Show...Masters !...
WOW!! Been a long time fan of hawkwind/hawklords, but first time I saw this video. This is unbelievable!! Nobody does space/acid rock better than hawkwind, but this is space/acid rock with new wave/ punk rock, fusion, all combined. violin is amazing. unbelievable.
magic from start to finish.
This was around the time I thought Hawkwind were loosing the plot, Simon House's brilliant musicianship holds it all together.(Since this came out it's grown on me more and more, I love it now)
Anton Haq Not just me then...
Moses Herodes LOL!
+Moses Herodes if yer don't like this.... Your dead. At least spiritually, creatively and missing a treat....
Steven Stratton just hated the femal vocals, and still do.sorry
Peter Schmidt Most of us did.
This is truly Hawkwind at their best
For post-Calvert Hawkwind it is.
First saw this back in the 1990's channel hopping to Channel4 with my mate Grant. We were both on acid at the time. I'll never forget that evening.
I've seen Hawkwind live 3 times but I think this remains my favourite Hawkwind experience.
At 34:00 particularly sticks in my mind from that tripppppp. "The lid, the lid it comes off!"
Lid less in a big box , lol
Hawkwind. Stacia. inseparable to my youthful memory!!!!
Chris Clark Pervert!
Anton Haq LOL, i was 14 when i saw her dancing in the nude in London 1972
why dont they play like this anymore.great lineup violin great alan davey my fav bass player.check out his solo stuff
AMAZING BAND, GREAT LIVE. THE BEST
I love the violinist!
wish I was there. Simon House at his best and the new boy Alan Davey gets my thumbs up
some 6 years new boy by then
Simon House is masterful
I got the serum and I'm going to take it!!!!
This is great, really. Hawkwind and these fine tunes were great when i was a young teenager.
And this is still great music for me in these days, when i am getting older ..
Thx to Hawkwind, thx to the uploader...
I saw them in 1993 at the Limelight NY. They Absolutely Blew Me Away🎆🎶🌌🎶
What a lineup! Simon!! 🎻
Seen hawkwind about 5 times always brilliant great band
This was round about the time when I got into them. One of the nations hidden gems. I bloody love the hawks I do.
them were some great daze for sure
I saw many live concerts in the netherlands...great band with timeless music...
TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME , TOTALLY !
Memories !!
so many good things about this.....
The great moment when assault and battery melts into golden void , magic 👍
I used to have this taped off channel 4 from yeqrs ago. Wonderful to see this show again …born to go
Always nice to see Alan and Brocky laughing.
OMG - Hawkwind - this is this greatest from the first note the the last chord/note - OMG live forever please - the greatest!
Brilliant - Brings back memories of one of the first Hawkwind concerts I saw. Cardiff castle in the mid 70's!! what the hell I wasted the next 5 years with punk! (Stranglers at the Top Rank-duuuh) never mind I finally saw the light!!
my favourite of all I listen to it all time bloody fantastic
AGREE!
there concerts are always crazy and never the same
My Favorite band still listen to the 1st album it gets better everytime
Groundbreaking - and the next 7 albums or so. Then they went on space rock autopilot, murdering great tracks like this...And they're on about album 42 of regurgitated drivel. What a shame. They were great in the 70s but when Dave Brock became Hitler and got rid of everyone who didn't conform they ended up sounding like a (poor) tribute band. Nik Turner's bands have that edge...Hawkwind should be my fave band, and if they'd stopped after Church of Hawkwind they would be.
What an amazing performance, wonderful artists and music, beautiful fireplay. Julie really adds another dimension.
I've been listening, only ,to this while answering E-mails, fucking hell that was hard as this music was so enjoyably distracting , Hawkwind despite the line up changes the spirit lives on, great stuff indeed, there really is no one else like them in our universe.
The only time i saw them live it was the Xenon Codex tour. It was amazing, but it was in a place so small their slideshow could not fit on a wall so part of it showed up on the ceiling, greatly warped.
still that meant i was seated only about 12 feet from them. Amazing!
Listening after the UK exit from the EU. As long as there is always Hawkwind all will be alright in the Universe. I absolutely love everything about this video...Night Of The Hawks!
Ummm we haven't actually left the EU yet mate!
No, and please DON'T! Most of the younger generation and Scotland want to remain in the Union and the result of the "review" was inconclusive so the "Call on the Field should stand as called as there is not enough evidence to overturn it"...
Personally I voted to stay but I suspect, now Dodgy Dave has screwed the pooch by bailing out we're going to go through a financially damaging period of protracted wrangling and then come out anyway to soothe Tory Pride ("We made a promise and we're going to keep it" kind off thing) By delaying they'll actually make the effect far worse and drag out the damage until a lot of us really suffer when, if there had been a competent exit stratergy in place, we'd have had a much shorter period of pain and come out, more or less, where we were before financially (just without the benefits of EU citizenship).
I didn't vote at all since I'm not Brittish and therefore had no say in this matter. But I can tell you that the freedom loving people all over Europe need you guys just as much now as we did in the 1940's…
Where would we be without you and your former colonies USA, Canada and Australia??? UP SHITS CREEK!!! The UK is the foundation of Western Democracy! You should NOT leave! YOU should take CONTROL of the situation and you CAN'T do that if you LEAVE the EU!
Where is the spirit of Winston Churchill??? "We shall never surrender!" It's a h_ll of a lot better to fight the c_cks_ckers in the EU Parliament than to fight them on "the beaches" as you/we once had to do…
Only cowards run a way from a challenge and locks themselves in a closet! 48% of Brittish voters did not and they deserve MORE RESPECT than the 52% who did! They are P'Tahks!!! :-)
CB - whever you are in Europe, it doesn't matter to me, you'll always be my brothers & sisters, but we need to release ourselves from the ties of the EU, to keep our identities.....we are not clones, we are not alone.
Great band. I was lucky enough to see them when I was a teen in Paris, in 1975 I believe. A great show ! A real band that can play !
Amazing dancer! Just brilliant! Nice person too!
Opening track.....Best version ever.
My God. My love for everything HW (one mid 90's album perhaps excluded) never abates
Same here, there were some dodgy 90s albums but I always come back to Hawkwind and live, they are magnificent.
tweetybird draft
Wow,one of the best shows from Hawkwind i ever have seen ;)
So much faster than the studio versions... Amazing!
yes brillant gig only 26 years ago .. savage tunes...
Love the band love this gig thanks for uploading
Violins hail... Simon House hail !!! Nuff said !! 🔯🔱👀
I think I just found my new go-to video when I need to demonstrate to someone {durr aren't they that silver machine band herp derp} just how powerful and musical Hawkwind can be.
I first saw them in the 80's doing the Levitation tour, at Reading top rank, I saw them about twelve times, but by the mid 90's went off them, I would have loved to have seen them in the early 70's and later during the Hawklords time, with Bob Calvert. I think I have seen Nick Turner just as many times with inner city unit, and the all stars. Great seeing the comments on here, I don't encounter many Hawkwind fans.
... this is great...Hawkwind always amazes me... never knew music could be so simplistically beautiful. :)
So wonderfull vibes !!!
Great band , and a great dvd !!!!!
The first time I went to scotland I climbed Edinburgh's Arthur's Seat and, once on the topo, I listened to "Palace Springs" at sensurround volume with my Walkman (hey, it was long, long ago... ). It was a wonderful experience, albeit had on a natural high...
I’ve watched this over and over - fantastic performance. Seen them live varying from brilliant to not but this is the best I’ve seen
quite agree with you john my friend
I have been lucky enough to see them live on at least eight occasions , each time I could have sworn that it was the best concert I'd ever been too . The energy and enthusiasm during their performances is has infectious as their music is enchanting , and rivaled only by Angus Young for his ability to maintain a constant high energy performance . Hawkwind are Masters of the Musicverse .
I will never forget simon and hawkwind in folkestone lees cliff hall in the late 80's when huw lloyd had to stand down due to injury and simon took his place. Played riff for riff on violin. Never heard anything so magical in my life
Where is that AMAZING button ?!
This is an unusually musical effort by the band, and all the better for it
your comment made me LOL
Whenever I mention Hawkwind folks ask "who?" and I tell them to imagine Pink Floyd with a heavy metal beat. Their eyes narrow a bit and they get this far-distant look on their face. Then they smile and say..."cool!"
assimilation has begun
A perfect analysis
Bill D. in Iowa great description I've been a fan since the early 90's
Cooler than cool. They haven’t heard of them because the mothership has been in outer space since the early 70’s
Pink Floyd have been shit since Syd Barrett left.
Seen them in 85 and this year i wish i had gone to more bummmmmmer
The bands peak last from 1972 to 2018. never a deviation or change. Excellence from beginning to now.
What about -69, -70 and 71
71 - 73 ....then 77 - 00....
best years were the robert calvert....
huw lloyd-langton..... alan davey and ron tree....eras....
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!
Saw these in 1990 Travelers field Glastonbury 4am what a night/trip :)
Was that with The Levellers ? wtf happened to them ?
Best ever intro. Put your head back. Close your eyes and head off into outer space
Nice Show, Great Show!
Fantastic!!
I can see from the comments that Bridget Wishart has her detractors but this was a stunning performance from her, particularly during Back In The Box.
+mattthetoadlicker I thought this period of the band with Wishart was a high point myself.
+jaxxstraw I'm glad you think that. Bridget had a dynamism and ~Hawkspirit that matched any of Hawkwinds frontmen. the voice was not the greatest, but her live performances were.
+mattthetoadlicker I'm someone that grew up on Stacia-era HW, but I think Bridget's great!! Simon House really tears it up throughout as well!
is she wearing Bobs goggles?
Oh, i think we all wear Bob's goggles eh.
Great time period for the bands line up and sound. Nice one Suonimolesti
Have this on DVD somewhere! Cracking concert with Simon playing that electric violin, Hawkwind on all four cylinders are fantastic, would like to see Alan back in the band too.
THE best Band ever
I saw hawkwind at the rock an blues derbyshire fantastic an mesmerising 👍
Lot's of great talk about rock drummers and Richard is never mentioned. And that's crap. He's great. As a kid i always couldn't wait for the gigs cause of that kick drum and it's volume.
He was a total locomotive train with his drumming! I loved it all those years ago. He seemed to have limitless energy.
please take me back to that time... about 30 years ago... please
I saw them at the Apollo in Manchester during this tour (1990). Got tickets to their 2018 tour (Leeds). First saw them a LONG time ago and plenty of times since. Taking my 19 year old nephew to see them after he mentioned he liked rock music. Looking forward to the show. Hopefully Pogol or someone as good will be doing the lighting etc. R.I.P. Bob Calvert. Lemmy Kilmister. Nik Turner. Dik Mik. Hugh Lloyd Langton. Amongst others now departed, but forever immortalised in music.
DE LOS MEJORES CONCIERTOS EN VIVO QUE HE VISTO EN VIDEO!!! EXQUISITO EN TODA SU EJECUCIÓN. EL VIOLÍN DE SIMON HOUSE LE DIÓ UN IMPRESIONANTE SELLO AL CONCIERTO!!! SOBRESALIENTES TODOS!!!
