Went for the $45 Amazon option and the pump is well built, easy to assemble and doesn't leak. Being 79 years old, this process is a little hard on my body and I had to give up with my tank on my Gamo Arrow only half filled. However, I found an electric dual voltage pump that pumps up to 4500 PSI on Amazon that was under $200, including taxes and shipping (Free). So I'll save my manual pump for a backup or when I want to see if I can use it to give myself a hernia....
Mine arrived today.....blown away with the quality and performance. I bought another after first use. I have three BSA Ultras, a compressor, 7 litre bottle and now two pumps. My two eldest grandsons borrow a rifle each when they visit. It now means they can take a pump each and go their own way. They are light and with the folding feet, compact to slip into a back pack. Look after them and I see a lifetime of service. Serving and repair however doesn't daunt me as a I was a Siebe Gorman BA and compressor technician and instructor before I retired. I do recommend a decent oil/water trap. You can buy and inline QR one for less than £20 anywhere.
Appreciate. I’m going to get it as a backup- for that price, why not?
I “ think” I stumbled into a pumping trick. Instead of doing a full travel pump motion every time, I will do maybe 3 quick, partial pumps from between about 3-8 inches( can feel pressure build up some), followed by a full travel pump. It seems to decrease the amount of full travel pumps by enough to make it worth it “ to me”. 🤷♂️😁 Cheers
I think for his application it is a no brainer purchase. I would like to see a test up to 3-4k psi before being totally convinced as a outright replacement for the other brands. I also question the longevity at the higher pressure. Thanks for the video!
Oh! So it's normal for the pump to stay up after stroking. I mean, the black part you lift with the handle (yes I'm new haha!), once you're done pumping, remains a couple inches, perhaps a wee bit over an inch and half above the base, exposing the silver tube it rides around. Was the detail I was looking for, nobody mentioned it in any of the vids I watched, and was worried about my pump being defective. Just assembled it, now it's time to find where some tiny leak is, and voilá! Then wait for a nice day... haha! Anyway, thanks a lot for the vid mate, have a great one!
Yea. I paid totally €46 for my chinese handpump that I ordered from aliexpress for the use to fill my Sig Sauer Virtus 13ci PCP. Has worked well for me. Spare o-rings etc even came along. I did though put the pump onto an electrical pumping machine that I built. But itbhas served me well. I do clean and lube the lower external tube of the pump quite regularly - and sometimes I strip it apart to clean the check valve at the bottom, but I considerbit as plain maintenance to keep the pump going for a long time..
But overall I do personally think that a cheap handpump works basically as well as most more expensive handpumps (which are the same in build-class).
I once did find online a Diana handpump to be identical to my pump - but the price was €199(national postages still excluded) instead of €46 (free intl shipping included)..
Ther is no justification for this high price levels for pcp hand pumps, they are only tubes, rods, o-rings and cheap Gauges nothing much more and the production cost broberly 10£ or so and the rest costs for the overpriced company name.
Use a hand mirror if you're that self conscious. You should know the safety is on
100% correct
I own a cheap Chinese pump I bought online several years ago. I don't use it that often. However, it has always worked for me.
Just had one of these (Vevor branded) delivered and it is superb. I honestly cannot understand how it can be bought at such a low price. I've always used FX pumps and this is every bit as good.
Thanks for sharing.
just had to get in here and comment to help with the video UA-cam algorithm. thank you for the work you did in the heat and humidity for your viewers.

I've been using a vevor pump to get my origin up to 3625psi for 7 months now and it's been great so far. I have an oring kit to rebuild it too if need arises.
How long did it take to fill the origin tank? Got one for my avenger as a back up and am little bit to intermediated lol! Got vevor brand also.
@pricelessppp takes 100 strokes to fill the origin from empty to full with a hand pump. Less than 4 minutes. I usually refill when it gets down to 1900psi which takes about 60 strokes.
@@NorthFloridaAirGunner Doesn’t sound to bad have you broke a sweat? Can this work well even with a vevor 45 buck pump?
@@pricelessppp 45 dollar vevor is what I use. Don't even break a sweat. And I'm a 30+ year smoker.
@@NorthFloridaAirGunner is anything special needed for the pump set up? I bought one but the instructions are horrible. I think it says something about silicone oil?
Thanks for the excellent review but unfortunately these have gone up to $59.99 on Amazon. There are still some other pumps there in $45 range only with mixed reviews.
That ridiculously low price couldn't last forever! Still a great deal and I'd go with the Orcair over others.
@@airshootist It looks exactly the same as other 45 dollar Chinese pumps.
Great vid, I just got a 3622 that came with a cheap pump like the one you show. Don’t know much about PCP or maintenance on them.
I’ll take 5 of the Orcair pumps all day long!
Absolutely. Wear one out? MEH!
As Easy-E would say: "Throw it in the gutta, and go buy anotha"
@@airshootist Absolutely NOT as that is just a form of conspicuous consumption, ewaste, runaway capitalism
I use that cheap pump to fill my origin to 3600 works great.
Been using the Amazon pump for 3 years and no major issue so far. However, the gauge broke and is now 1,000 PSI below the actual PSI.
That 45 dollar pump looks just like my air venturi g6 pump, I paid more than 2x that!
best part is: it was probably made in the same factory! Haha. The Orcair pump is definitely pretty nice!

30~40 pumps for such little movement on the meter? How many pumps to completely fill the gun from empty? 1000? I was looking into a pcp gun that comes with a pump but this puts me off a little lol
lol no that's a small like 80cc tube. Less than 100 pumps probably. Now, the Airforce Talon SS I used to exclusively hand pump was probably 1000 or more strokes and it sucked but was a good workout. If you're worried about using a hand pump then just get a compressor, this one has been the absolute workhorse of the 7 or so I own: amzn.to/3RnD6Uq

Nice video, I'm going to look into the Orcair pump, just bought my first PCP rifle, where do you get a rebuild kit for the Orcair when needed? I see that it does come with one but once that is gone where do you get another one at?
You can probably just size the orings and pick them up at a local hardware store after that. Or simply buy a new hand pump since they are so cheap. A better idea is to grab a compressor since they are also very cheap nowadays and use the hand pump as a backup. I have multiple compressor reviews on the channel. My favorites right now are the Orcair Thunder and the ToAuto A3. I have links to both in the comments.
@@airshootist thanks for the reply, I did order the hand pump for now and I think today I have seen every video on compressors you have posted and added them to my cart on Amazon so I can look farther into them in the next few days.
I will definitely buy a compressor but going to use the hand pump for now, great videos I have really enjoyed all of yours that I have watched today.

I use the cheapo and I love it I own two they do blow o rings but they are not bad I’ll never spend more then 50 bucks on a pump now knowing what I can get for about fifty dollars once you open one up a couple times you’ll learn what to look for and how to rebuild one I try not to shoot under 200 bar because I know at around that I’ll only have to pump it up about 110 times thats one break at around 50 pumps it’s a work out and I’m a smoker but hey it’s getting me by for now
Next time you rebuild don't use the buna nitrile O rings provided. Buy fully synthetic or EPDM, a little silicone grease and I doubt you'll ever need to change a seal again.

No but they are relatively easy to take apart. Just search online for some diagrams and you'll get the idea. Just make sure you have some 100% silicone oil and grease for the rebuild, you'll need it.
@@airshootist Thanks. I have the grease, what oil do you recommend?
@@jasondevault5066 In order to not blow yourself up and die, you will need 100% silicone oil. Petroleum oils can combust under high pressure, whereas 100% silicone will not. Here is what I use: amzn.to/44a6ikE

I like air guns and rifles, but what worries me is those lead pellets are kind of toxic, and if end up in lawn will contaminate the soil and bad to environment. I tried to collect the pellet bits and bring to recycle depots..........
As I understand it, non-lead options are easy to find for most caliber slugs or pellets. I'd personally expect copper to be more harmful to soil life. In a small localized spot anyway, until it oxidizes away that is.
@@slaveofjesus3878 yeah, copper toxic too.....rather sad, isn't it? but no third option.......comparative speaking, which one is less toxic???
You're only putting it back from where it came from are you not..?

That is way too much work. You are barely denting the pressure and you have to hit that pump hard. I can only imagine if you ever took it down to close to empty.
Lol... I used a handpump for like 15 years to pump of a way larger Airforce Talon SS tank (490cc) than this little 80-100cc Diana tube. It's not too much work, and it's a great exercise!
I refuse to pump guns...lol
Me too, but in a SHTF scenario having a few of these bad boys around is a plus
@@airshootist see now you have my attention...
Depends on the guns reservoir size. The BSA Ultra standard reservoir only takes 50 pumps from 100 bar to 220 bar but I top up after 30 shots on a hunt and that's only 30 pumps. One stroke per shot. I use my bottle at the range but wandering around woodlands the pump in my backpack is the lightweight option. Also my grandchildren borrow my rifles now and again and I might not get them back for weeks lending them a pump each is better for me as I have a mini compressor (brilliant at £134 delivered TWO years ago and still going strong) and 7 litre bottle. They aren't borrowing them, they are young enough and fit enough to use the pumps....I bought two! 😃
These pumps for me are only to be used one time to test and then put away until the SHTF .
Nobody , I mean nobody who owns one will continue using it if they can afford to buy an electric 4500 psi compressor .
I agree. However the FX and the Airforce have been real workhorses over the past 18 years, so it can be done but they need rebuilds kinda often
Wrong. Mine goes in my backpack. My lightweight gear are BSA Ultras which fill so easily. No way am I carting my 7 litre or even a 3 litre bottle around through rough woodland with the pump weighing so little. I get 40 shots out each of my Ultras and then top up. 45 strokes of the pump does the job. I use my compressor and bottles for use with the 4 buddy bottle PCP's I have. Ultra and hand pump are a perfect light hunting rig.
Johnpaul Club
The only thing I don't like about this P.C.P. is that you need to point the barrel at your face to check the pressure!
Simple just don't have it loaded while doing that.
@@OGs4OGs okay.
That is one reason why the Airforce airguns and the Benjamin marauder are on my favorite list. On the Airforce the tank and gauge are the rear end of the rifles and on the Benjamin marauder the gauge is on the bottom between the trigger and foregrip. This keeps you alot safer than the having the gauge on the business end. For the people with the gauge on the dangerous end always remove the magazine and fire a shot into the dirt to make sure 100% that the barrel is clear. Airguns are potentially deadly especially in the event of an accidental discharge like a hard knock or drop. Be careful people.
Get the Artemis Pr900w :) the meter is under the rifle, and it has a wood stock. But its the same rifle.
@@Tamlin73 Sweet. How powerful and accurate is this rifle?? Might make a nice piece of the collection.
Nice video! I have just got my Artemis P900 wich is the same gun as the Stormrider. And I got a handpump to keep thing simple 😁 Norway is cold so the themps would not be a problem working a handpump 😅
Nice review of the options for filling your guns
Bought the Azamon pump. Filling My NOTOS to 3650, Made a Part to better mate the Handle to the Main Barrel, using 3-D. Seems good.
Man it was tiring just watching you fill those tanks. I have the Hatsan hand pump, but avoid using it whenever possible. It's ok for small tanks, but for a 510cc FX bottle at 4500psi, no thanks.

Just got my first pcp and shopping now 💥🥊
Great video and thanks for your efforts. I am 75 yrs old and for something to do, I just bought a Umarex C02 to plink with. I love to squirrel hunt so I have been entertaining a mid-range break barrel. While researching guns I became aware of PCP's. I have never heard of them. That being said, I really like the idea of the PCP with a mag-type gun. My concern was the inconvenience o filling the gun. I certainly prefer not to invest in a compressor but was calculating a small tank to take to the local dive shop. I have seen the hand pumps and figured they would likely kill me. Watching you actually use one, I think I can handle it. So, your video has convinced me to go ahead and pull the trigger on an entry-level PCP I can squirrel hunt with. Thank You. I subbed BTW.
Thanks! Have a look at some of my compressor reviews, they are cheap and 100% way better than hand pumping! Shopping through the links I put in my comments/descriptions on all my videos is a great way to help out my non-monetized UA-cam channel, too! Cheers!
