All of them!! I like the battery holder, The fact that it includes wheels in the box and just the general quality of the kit. Keep up the great content Rich!! 👍👊😎
The RCNetwork I think TLR have raised the benchmark with the rounding off of carbon fibre components. The battery tray is a nice improvement, not sure how long the strap will last though. The drivetrain is particularly smooth. The alloy components are beautifully finished. There’s a lot of good stuff, refinement! 👍🤓🇦🇺
Dang, TLR knocked it out of the park on this one, very impressed with the quality of the kit and as you said the way things fit together so freely is pretty amazing. Great vid and awesome build as always.
Couldn’t agree more, hands down the best kit I have ever built. The only minor flaw I ran across was actually one of the turnbuckles had the directional indicator on the incorrect side. I had to sit there scratching my head when I was trying to put on a ball cup and finally got the magnifying glass out and sure enough the threads were backwards vs the rest of the turnbuckles. Other than that, completely flawless.
Maaan, when I saw 6:45, my first thought was "Oh snap"... I don't think I paid attention to that little detail. 😳 Well, easy access diffs for the win, I suppose. I know what I'll be doing this weekend. Good thing I haven't raced mine yet either. Thank Goodness I decided to watch this video; my ESC is coming in next week.
Glad to help out...When I was assembling I noticed the difference and thought "well which way am I supposed to put this damn thing in"...then I actually looked at the manual. lol
@@TheRCNetwork Well, it turned out that the washer on my rear pinion was backwards. Because the box wrench doesn't fit when the garbox is mounted to the chassis, I thought I was going to have to do a major teardown, but luckily, my Serpent 5mm socket driver fit. Whew! 😅
Tlr really did an incredible job , this video shows a lot more than even what I’ve seen already. Also I was shocked to see you’d built it already and had new video up! Nice job 👍🏻
Thanks buddy! Yeah, got it on Sunday - filmed/edited Sunday night for the unboxing. Built it on Monday/part of Tuesday and filmed/edited Tuesday night for a Wednesday morning upload. Crazy! Now, waiting on electronics to arrive....
So nice to see your vids on a more regular basis. Your videos are so well done which makes them such a pleasure to watch. I still love your Eb410/MIP and am pleased to own one of your projects. On a personal note we have moved back to the US after a 12 year vacation in Cancun.
The RCNetwork Not really Rich, Poot expensive sketchy medicalcare (no ventalators) high crime etc. They robbed us blind when leaving. 35% capital gains tax on our home sale, 25,000 peso bribe to the state police over our car which they eventually took away from us and a nightmare 8 week to receive our household goods. Leaving was a very bitter experience.
Thanks GLRC! It takes lots of documentation as I build to get all of the before assembled footage - but it's nice to help out people that are going to be building one, or thinking about buying one. Yes, on the driving footage....as soon as we are back to some sort of normal
First off, great review. Wow, I had heard the rumors but did not realize this car is basically a carbon copy of the XRay. No wonder they labeled it the 22X(B)-4
Maybe a "Carbon Fiber Copy" - all kidding aside, most 4wd buggies look similar these days. I'm glad TLR is in the same ball game now with a shaft drive car - but they did kill it with all of the details that many manufacturers overlook. I made some remarks during the video on one particular manufacturer...
Yep, 1/8th scales are terrible with motor mounts these days - like the HB and the 8ight X and the clamping style. The Team Durangos were bad where the motor was fixed and the center diff moved to the motor mount. The SWorkz where the motor bolted to the mount and then to the car....the Pro-Line Pro-MT as well. Even worse was the B44.2 and previous cam-style motor mounts. It was always a guessing game to get that mesh right. All RC's should have the 22x-4's motor mount. (period)
Man, I really like this... I'm not really a TLR guy, but thinking if I had an extra 500$, I'd be building ome of these... the EB410.2 looks good too, and I was considering building one of those for my kid to dip his toes into 4wd, but may have to re-evaluate things... for some reason I haven't fell in love with the Xray, or even the AE B74(our 2wd racers are AE).... The exra hardware and bits, the small details , like wire routing, extra machining steps, all make this just a well done kit, no wonder it took them a while. Those battery blocks are great, no more loosing so much foam! Wondering if you could use smaller blocks just to add a small cushion stuck to those blocks? Did they include a spare battery strap, in case the rubber were to snap? That would be my worry with a rubber strap. Wheels included even... Cant wait to see what you power it with and what u think after runnimg it some...
Did you by any chance have mislabeled bags? I think about 25% of mine had the wrong numbers lol. For example, my J bag, only J1 was labeled correctly, the rest were all wrong. I used a bit of black grease for the turnbuckles and was amazed how easily they went together, no sore fingers. Barely took me 10 minutes to build those.
What's odd, is I cut the A bag open, and then cut all of the bags open all at once....So, I wasn't even following along like that - I didn't catch it till like bag E
love your reviews very in depth with a lot of attention to detail. Wish you could review the xray buggies. 4wd or 2 wheel drive. newish to the hobby. have a B64 which i decided to start of before buying a brand ew kit. Xray Xb4 21.. associated B74.1 or TLR 22x-4 is right on top of my list
I've reached out to Xray several times to work with them and never received a message back. I've been found of their buggies for years even before the B44.2
What pinion gears should I get for the TLR 22x-4 as a starting point? As a. starting point. I would start with the 78t spur gear and I purchased a 13.5T motor and I am not much experience driver. I am based in the UK where temps are not very high and plan to start practicing on shorter tracks. If anyone could give some advice that would be great.
According to the manual, TLR recommends a 78/24 for a 13.5t motor....now keep in mind that most 13.5t classes are filled with people that really tweak their settings including timing and boost.....so you might appear slower at first until you get into the settings of your electronics
I've just come back to 1/10 off road after 21 years, and I've just purchased a brand new Losi 22-4 1.0 from eBay which was cheap. I'm wondering now if I should've purchased this new one instead, looking at how simple it is compared to my 3 belts
yeah, TLR got a ton of flack on the belt drive and many of the quirks of the 22-4's. They also didn't do too well outside the hands of the pros....a buddy of mine has one and it does well, just got to keep up with the diffs and the tuning
this was a highly debated topic when the 22X-4 was released. My Tekin servo with TLR horn doesn't rub.....but it's a matter of how the body is placed using velcro. Honestly, I don't think it't a big deal if the horn moves the body a couple mm during full throw to one side.....I know that the Spectrum servo with the integrated mount doesn't rub, according to the TLR team
Rich, I have a (fairly strong, tho not 100% certain) feeling that the flat body mounts are not for Velcro. If they were for Velcro, then the included Velcro would have been cut circular. Since the Velcro was cut rectangular, I'm thinking the Velcro is for 'traditional' body mounting...ie. side rails & lower sides on the body. So, what would those flat body mounts be for? How about magnets? There are several vehicles that have come out over the past year utilising magnetic body mounts, and, as magnetic body mounting becomes more popular, it would be understandable why TLR might incorporate it into newer vehicles.
The flat style body mount (without the dimple for a body clip) started (for me) on the B64d - it came with traditional body mounts, but everyone was shaving the dimple down to flat to act as a body stop for using velcro. That's what the mount is for - to stop the body from coming in contact with electronics and moving parts like the center diff. Then, velcro is used on the side guards and the body to keep it attached. Velcro is not placed on the round part - sorry if that's what I made it sound like in the video
As for magnetic? I doubt we will see that in race buggies. As cool as it might be....it's too much of a "what if" for racers. I think drifters and some scalers, it's fine for....but even scalers have went away from magnets for body mounting
Many of the 4wd buggies look similar now...Xray, AE, Yokomo and TLR. It's all about the details now....the way they drive and the driver/part support globally.
Yeah, I was shocked to see that too. I tried a 1.3mm wrench, but it was pretty tight. It's only on 4 screws - the ones that hold the piston on the shock shaft.
The RCNetwork that’s the worst part, you build 99.9% of the kit metric and then 4 screws that are not labelled as .050th pop up and you try and make a 1.5mm fit. By the time common sense kicks in, which is about 3 hours for me, you’ve gone crazier 🤪🤪🤪🤪 But it was an impressive kit, fit and finish was superb. I have a 22-4 that has not been used at all, so this one I’ll live vicariously through your build! 👍🤓🇦🇺
X-ray? Chassis looks pretty exact but now a days, most all shaft 4wd 10th buggys are the same. Almost wished they continued to develop the belt driven 22-4. Make it more easier to work on and maintenance. Oh well. This 22-X is still a awesome 4wd buggy.
@@TheRCNetwork specifically, looking at the chassis. Looks more like the xb4 but absolutely, it's all in the details. Just thought developing the 22-4 would also be a good idea since a lot of tracks are converting to carpet, including my local track, NorCal Hobbies.

I completely understand on the pricing - most of these companies had these cars in the books for nearly a year now. It's bad timing on price, but good timing that people have some extra time on their hands
