      @@SakkusMind It's a great technique, I've been making them using a similar shape but stamping each part separately instead of cloning, not sure if it makes much difference thermo wise but it allows you to have several colours in the mixer for some variation which I think looks a bit better, or at least with greens it does 😀

  • @JJShalashaska
    @JJShalashaska 4 роки тому +4

    Ok, I finished watching. Following your teachings and other tutorials by Martin Nebelong I came up with some good realistic trees and grounds with your "adding-subtracting" technique already, it's really possible to make super realistic grounds, rocks and trees. But as you shown in the video when we add details already in the sculpt (like the amazing 3d foliage you made) we can manage to handle with thermo! Many times when I cloned my detailed and painted pieces of grounds thermo exploded, because my sculpts were too small and get cloned too many times. This was an amazing video, Sakku. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, I am already going to try your techniques and probably I am going to sleep very late :D
    I am making a musical video through Dreams and surely I am going to credit you on my musical channel because you deserve tons of other followers. You guys from Dreams are an amazing community.
    Keep dreaming!

    • @atheistsw
      @atheistsw 4 роки тому

      Yes, that is the key to what we call 'thermo friendly' assets in Dreams, make as much detail as possible in a single sculpt. Gameplay thermo equates to roughly 100 sculpts per 1%, so if you make a tree all in one single sculpt you can place 100 clones of that asset and only spend a single percentage of the gameplay thermo! Works with everything, even large items like buildings etc. ;-)
      You can even go one step further and make MULTIPLE assets inside a single sculpt, for example you could make several trees in a single sculpt to use as background filler, the same rules would apply. Only issue is that as you add more detail to a sculpt the flecks automatically become looser, so for more finely detailed work you are going to need to start a new sculpt to preserve that level of detail. Still, for making large, detailed open worlds in a single scene, that is the best technique!

    • @JJShalashaska
      @JJShalashaska 4 роки тому +1

      @@atheistsw thanks man for your suggestion! I will try to follow your advice, I think I'll start making larger sculpts because I need big scenes, and let's see if I manage to handle with thermo better! 3d foliage will be my next challange :)

    WOW! Very helpful and thank you for sharing. In cases where you have many of the same thing, for example ground, trees, branches, rocks, etc. basically almost the whole scene do you find it OK to stamp a single asset multiple times or do it as a single sculpt? To me your thermo is good. I think you are doing the former but thought you said single sculpt at some point. Also with grade and effects and sun and sky any tips on how to get realism for lighting?

    • @SkemeKOS
      @SkemeKOS 4 роки тому

      Are you asking if you should make ground, trees and rocks etc all as one single sculpt, rather than as separate assets?

    • @scitendo0376
      @scitendo0376 4 роки тому

      Typically I do the asset thing and create one and stamp a bunch of times. But there is a crossover point where if you have so very many of them it could be beneficial (thermo-wise) to instead do a single sculpt provided that it is still relatively low graphics thermo. So wondering how people think about when which is better.

    • @SakkusMind
      @SakkusMind  4 роки тому +1

      @@scitendo0376 It's important to find a mixture out of cloning and creating larger single sculpts, a few assets that are very useful to reuse many times are very important but at the same time you gotta focus on not having too much gameplay, it's a bit tricky but I'll be doing a thermo guide in the future!

    Wanna see more realistic environments from you 🤯 and how did you manage to have so much physical paintings?? I love how you can so easily make vegetation that moves with the wind with a single option but you can have so little of them or it becomes a problem... I wonder if someone figured out how to make everything movable, flowing with the wind, I hate when everything is static it feels fake, always had that issue with dreams

    • @Vesohag
      @Vesohag 4 роки тому +1

      I think you can use for the paintings the clone option from the tweak menu. And to make everything moving, you could animate the branches of the tree just by moving them a bit and recording the movement. Then you clone that tree with animated branches so all the other trees move too.

    • @SakkusMind
      @SakkusMind  4 роки тому +1

      I'll definitely do some more from time to time :)
      Also the thing you mentioned is definitely problem.. whatever you really do there aren't many physical paintings possible, I would say it's one of the biggest limitations.. I also only didn't clone the grassland of the forest in this video as I did with everything else or at least not the physical paintings in it ^^
