It’s so admirable that you guys are trying to cut down on your meat consumption, even if it’s only for a short time, it’s more than most people will be bothered to do. Well done guys and keep up the good work x
Oh my god please keep doing vegetarian videos, I have been vegetarian for 3 years now and it is so hard to find vege you tubers, it seems to be either vegan or full carnivore. In my opinion everyone doing whatever they can to reduce their animal product intake is great
Hi Luke and Zara, I made a vegetarian curry similar to your's, using coconut cream, sweet potato, carrot, potato, pumpkin, cayenne pepper, crushed cardamon seeds, turmeric, curry powder, onion, garlic, coriander for garnish, vegetable stock, chickpeas, Maldon salt and green beans- 10 mins prep, 20 mins cooking time.My daughters and I loved it. Any other vegetarian recipes would be great! Thank you. :)
Your videos/blogs are so entertaining, fun and informative! I really admire how disciplined and good you both are at shopping , cooking and everything in between! It’s all so organised! I love them🧡
It took me till about Wednesday to realise your clock has stopped and you are not actually a wizard and start cooking at the same time every night 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ new to your vlogs, found you whilst looking for vegetarian dishes. Love the style of vlogs you do, they are informative without droning on and on. Hope you and Zara are well during these trying times. Take care and stay safe 💙
Im not a vegetarian. Just someone trying to cut down on eating meat, so these videos are perfect for me. I loved all the recipes you cooked, Ive had a go at making my own pesto and found it quite easy to do.
@@stephenferguson I know this comment wasn't to me but when I went veggie I did it gradually, first to go was red meat and the last was fish... I think people making small changes and learning that it's not as difficult or daunting as people make it seem is key, even if it is just cutting out/down on one thing 😊 it's a great place to start.
@@AshleyBabyMalone yes true and wow I can't believe that was 5 months ago. Have you tried going vegan ?? I did but found it really hard, felt so restricted and it was kinda pricey too
@@stephenferguson I have tried a few vegan recipes but not many if I'm honest. I have been trying vegan alternatives to things that I love, if they're available, like icecream and hot chocolate (Judes vegan chocolate icecream and Galaxy now have vegan hot chocolate) but I am trying to incorporate more vegan into my diet.
I'm so late to the party because I've only just discovered this channel (it's great btw) but when making risotto vegetarian, blend some nuts very finely, add to the risotto, add a tea spoon of sea salt and a tablespoon of light soft cheese. It adds a very similar flavour to parmesan and creates a creamy texture! x
Thank you for sharing this budget friendly recipe. Budgeting better with my groceries has been heavy on my mind with all the rising prices. This kind of video is so helpful for me and I am sure many others right now. I try to budget best I can but I know I can always learn more. I make cooking videos too so you know I’m making lots of food so every penny I can save on groceries counts. I hope that we can continue to learn from each other. Never stop learning and growing!
Luke and zara this was so brilliant to watch. Can we please see another shop and what we cook in a week again soon. Not necessarily a vegan one. Love love watching you. X
Guys I'm actually in temporary accommodation (don't feel comfortable sharing why) and I'm envying the fact that you youngsters have got such a beautiful home! Other than continuing to work my butt off within education and employment, how can I eventually afford a stunning home like yours! You seem too rich to be Aldi goers but then again I know plenty of rich folk who do the same as the quality is outstanding! I'm on my own but living beyond means mostly out of anxious eating.
Great video 👍🏼 Going to try the curry wraps 😊 I’ve been a vegetarian 🌱 (and also a vegan at times) for over 20 years. Just to mention incase you are not aware that parmesan cheese is often not vegetarian ( it contains animal rennet as far as I know) you can buy alternatives but I struggle to find them where I live. Also shop bought pesto often contains it so they are not vegetarian too although the free from pestos usually are as they don’t contain any cheese. Well done on your home cooking, I totally agree with you that it can still be quick and easy 👍🏼
Thanks for the veggie motivation I'm going veggie again as my psoriasis cleared up last time I did it for the first time in 15 years and it was really bad
The Oatly Barista is well worth the extra money as it has vitamin B12 and other nutrients added. It also has a better taste and texture and you don't need to use so much of it in hot drinks or porridge as you can dilute with hot water.
Love this video. My budgie Everest happily chatted all the way through it so he's a fan for sure. The veggie curry looked so tasty. Good job to you both. Xx
Love that you guys are doing so much veggie/vegan stuff!! And also showing how easy it is!! And how cheap it can be!! Thanks for the inspiration! It’s great that your showing that any step towards veganism is a good one and you don’t have to be so strict with it - that idea really puts people off 😊😊
Hi I just found your channel... I love your videos! Really lovely fresh food I love the meals and have stolen a couple of ideas I wish you well please keep them coming 🌞
Smashing video & it would make a great semi regular content idea a few times a year, moving with the seasons or particular styles/nationalities. Have you tried Nigel Slater’s recipes btw, whether it’s his older books ‘Fast Food’ & ‘Real Fast Food’ or his later Greenfest books; I have never cooked anything of his that isn’t full of goodness, super tasty, easy & most are very quick or don’t take a lot of prep & simply need a long, low oven cook while you relax. Super quick recipes like his Cooked Chilli Feta squashed onto warm crusty bread is the food of Kings. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😍😍😍
That was great Luke as a life long veggie it's always good to try or see something new. I like the idea of the home made tortilla chips and the vegan wrap looked amazing.
Omg when she used another utensil “something else to wash” I am so guilty of doing this, my boyfriend hates it 🤣🤣 A little heads up Parmesan usually isn’t vegetarian unfortunately it has animal rennet in it, I know you’re not strict but if you were to continue ☺️ Thank you for this video it was brilliant, will you be uploading another week as your doing veggie/veganuary, it was great for inspiration x
The good news is knock of parmesan (like Asda smart Price "Italian hard cheese" is normally vegetarian. just not the authentic stuff because they use traditional methods to make it (as you said. Animal rennet). I also find its worth grabbing vegan or free from Pesto and just adding my own cheese to be safe
Hi Luke absolutely loved this cooking video so much, really wish I could get into cooking more.I have never tasted gnocchi in my life but think I am going to try it in the future like really soon. Also going to purchase these two cooking books.Once again cannot wait until your next video. The wraps aren’t my favourite
Fabulous video guys. Think the wraps looked wonderful. Oh yer and you should have a hundred thousand subs as your fabulous and your videos are always so varied which is just what you tube needs these days. So many just do the same thing over and over and thats what makes your channel so interesting because you do lots of different little bits. Love ya Luke xx
Definitely trying that risotto recipe!!! And the curry veggie wraps look amazing!!! Awesome vid/vlog!!! Aldi is the best. We finally got one here like 2 years ago... literally my favorite store. Thanks for sharing!!!
My local Aldi have Grana Padano which is a good parmesan vegetarian alternative and they also have gnocchi next to the dry pasta and often in the fridge section too.
@@LukeCatleugh brilliant. It's a minefield sometimes watching dietary wishes or intolerance ..gphsd some amazing vegan meals lately look forward to more veggie meals xx
Luke Catleugh Grana Padano from Aldi is not veggie. Pesto with Parmesan is also not vegetarian. The enzymes are from a calves stomach. Parmesan is never vegetarian, its not allowed to be called Parmesan or Grana Padano if its not with this ingredients.
Just came across your channel and i must say you are lovely! I'm on a binge of your videos right now and enjoying them immensely! I'm a cook book fan and looking into the ones you shared. This American lady is a fan!
Cracking video, well done and well presented, such an affable and natural style. Def inspired me to have a vegetarian week. Must say though your Aldi seems to have way more choice than our local ones, need to seek out a bigger store!
Our closest Aldi is so much smaller than the ones you have. None of the numbered candles and fragrance products offered here as well as much smaller selections of other inventory items as well. This in the USA by the way.
I am really enjoyed your videos and the recipes you are sharing, love the idea of the risotto and the curry wraps. I had a bacon and fried egg sandwich today, but up until now I've had meat four times this year. Loved the video have a great weekend xxxx

Thank you for showing us delicious tasting healthy food that's easy to cook, the only criticism I have is that you didn't stick to the amount of money you said you spent, plus you had all the herbs and spices etc, the rice, the wraps and oil etc,so it didn't really cost £20 each, but it was still great to see you on a budget cooking healthy food for a week so I thank you for that 😀

I know I am very late to the game, but I feel like I have to step in for your flat mate. That 'flat leaf parsley' looked a lot like coriander when you first showed it and I waited for the moment you realized that you got two of the same herb (and waited and waited...). I think it also said coriander on the wrapper? Haha, never mind, it doesn't really matter, but I think she was right saying they both tasted the same ;)
I am finding it quite sad that the grocery stores have wrapped so much of the food in plastic, especially the vegetables. It's absolutely not necessary. I refuse to buy veg in plastic and I take my own bags, made from recycled plastic, reusable and washable, to the grocery store. So much of that plastic ends up in the oceans, killing the fish and other sea animals. :'( On a more positive note, I love that you and Zara are eating more healthy this month, Luke. Maybe you could carry on with the vegetarian, at least. ;)
Hey Jaye! It’s so frustrating I know, we don’t use the single use shopping bags and haven’t for years. Same for the plastic bags in he fruit and veg section. It’s so annoying as some items are literally wrapped in plastic without choice. I’m 100% going to research deli’s and green grocers in my area that I can shop at
It is annoying. When I was younger people took their baskets with them. If you bought mushrooms they went in paper bags. Loss of our CB proper greengrocers vs the big supermarket.
It's annoying that fruits and vegetables are wrapped in plastic. If it's possible, you could consider getting an allotment and grow your own that's what I have done. So I will be reducing the plastic and eat seasonal. I only eat a vegan diet and try to eat as much whole plants foods as possible with the occasional junk processed foods.
