    Thank you for gutting this lock. It really makes you appreciate the manufacturing process and effort that goes into some of these MTL locks. I mean counter milling on the core AND the key pin outer pins. Impressive. And of course your picking is second to none.

      Thanks... these are nicely made locks. The complexity definitely adds to the picking difficulty.

    It's very interesting to see the vulnerable lock picker from years ago, compared to the current state of the channel. Different motivations, different outcomes, I get it. I am currently working my way through your entire catalogue. Ill be sure to pop these in if they seem timely

    Mul-T-Locks are too expensive to call that band a bumper. I’m going with “Warning Red Anti-scratch Protruding Protective Enclosing Devise” ---- WRAPPED.

  • @rsilvers129

    Amazing. I had no idea Mul-T-Lock was pickable in certain versions by anyone. I know no one on the street pick locks, but it makes me even more excited for my 362 to arrive.
    What would be interesting is if you could come up with a pickability list of different keyways on a scale of 1-10. Would Abloy be 10? Would Abus be 10 also? Would Mul-T-Lock interactive+ be 9? 8?

  • @MarkSmith-pd6fk
    @MarkSmith-pd6fk 6 років тому

    Great so basically if someone wanted to mess with your lock & not open it, they can just remove the red buffer & unscrew/remove the rather short, core retaining screw so everytime you unlock it, your core will fall out. A pranksters wet dream & to me a slight design flaw. I prefer the Allen key, inside the bottom of the shackle slide design that way you cannot access any screws until the shackle is unlocked 🔓. For that sort of money you expect not to be able to access any screws no matter what the purpose, until the lock is opened

    I want to see an Mt5+ picked next, and gutted to make sure no pins were compromised beforehand

    • @lockpickinglawyer

      Then you are in luck. Check out my videos 249, 250, and 281 for pick and gut videos of MT5+ locks... also video 270, but that one was compromised by extensive master keying.

      LockPickingLawyer so if you get such lock brand new how fast will you pick it blind?

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  7 років тому

      You misunderstand... I spend a great deal of time on locks like this one -- i.e., on MTLs. I did not spend a great deal of time on this particular lock. A lock like this usually takes me about 5-7 minutes blind. Some do take longer, but they are the exception.

    • @vadimturov7808
      @vadimturov7808 7 років тому

      LockPickingLawyer i understand you meant that you had been picking mtls for a long time. i just wanted to know how long does it takes to pick mtl blind for you because only video you picking mtl blind was with defective one which had only outer pins working

  • @mrpylak7103

    Still amazed at how easy you make this look. Do you prefer to hold a lock vs. clamping? I have trouble holding and picking. Seems I get better control in a clamp, yet I feel as tho I'm cheating. Great Vida as always. Thanks!

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  8 років тому +1

      You touch on an interesting topic. As my skills developed, I started to hold padlocks in my hand when picking because it’s more realistic an attack. You would never attack a padlock in the wild by putting it in a vice, so why do it in practice (unless you are just learning and need a temporary crutch)? It definitely makes picking harder - particularly on a locks like this that (I) require some subtlety and precision in picking, and (II) are really heavy. I also have a MTL C16 w/ Shackle Guard. That’s roughly 2-3x as heavy, and holding the lock in my hand is the hardest part of picking it.

  • @freecanadaland

    If this lock can be disassembled with the outside side the screw, it could be a weak point. What if someone tried to unscrew while it’s locked??

    • @idkidk4334
      @idkidk4334 7 місяців тому +1

      The screw is just holding this cylinder in the shackle hole so it doesn't fall apart when someone uses their key. Otherwise when the lock is locked there is no room for it to move aka you can't dismantle the lock unless you have the shackle open

  • @rougnedodor2505

    This guys is so good. How did you learn these multi lock pins?

  • @chefgav1
    @chefgav1 8 років тому +1

    Great picking again. Looks harder than the Lockwood MT5+ you did.
    Do yo think that the MT5+ is a step backwards?

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  8 років тому +3

      The security of that Lockwood was highly compromised by heavy master keying. See videos 249, 250 and 281 for me picking the full Monty MT5+. The MT5+ is definitely king of the MTL hill. That said, the Interactive+ in this video was unusually tricky, so when comparing the best of the interactives vs the worst of the MT5+, I can see how you might question the hierarchy.

    • @lockpickinglawyer

      Most of the time, I use SpooXe picks... these are just hand finished Chinese Goso picks. They are the best "out of the box" dimple picks I know of.

    i heard that the worst mlts to pick are brand new with all standard pins? is it true? how do you get them that fast?

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  7 років тому

      Depends which lock. The MT5(+) have standard outer driver pins, and they are considered the hardest pins. But that can be overcome with practice and careful tensioning.

    • @vadimturov7808
      @vadimturov7808 7 років тому

      LockPickingLawyer when you pick pourly or medium quality machined locks when you set pins they become springy and they don't move as much so it's obvious when key pins hit the bible and you need alot of force to overset them. i have one almost brand new interactive with all standards and it's hard for me to tell if pins are set or not and i think i overset them all the time. i have not even got outer pins picked. what tension do you use and how do you feel when they set? or do you pick them like they are tapered so you come back and press each pin multiple times? maybe i just can't feel yet when key pins hit the bible or i use incorrect tensioning or both

    What would you use this padlock on? Its so big that any hasp you try to put it on will be too small. And any door it hangs from is an easier target then the lock.
