You're a breath of fresh air. Man, the worst thing you can do is say your opinion may be "controversial"; opinions are not controversial, they're just opinions. The toxic culture of gaming and our social media obsessed society in general wants to make us feel bad for expressing our opinions if they are not "popular", like somehow it's lame to love a game that "everyone" hates. I love a lot of unpopular games and I'd never for a moment feel embarrassed about that. I think Fallout 4 is the best of the entire Fallout franchise and I think Starfield is even better than Fallout 4, and I couldn't give a flying rat's ass if anyone agrees with me on that or not. Great video liked and shared keep up the good work!
Fallout 4 - Survival Mode - *Chef's kiss* (Now they've added "survival" mechanics to Starfield I can, after over 500 hours already invested, finally play the game I've been itching to.)
@@paulleach3612 I was late to FO4 so it was already the all dlc bundle version with survival mode included. Honestly one of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life advancing block by block across Boston. I was so glad when they put modular difficulty settings into starfield.
The only thing that breaks the game for me is leaving and landing on the planets, vehicles and flying in space . I wish it was more like no man's sky in that sense
Thank you for making this video bc this game gets such a bad rep and it’s the reason I didn’t play it for such a long time. I’m a nerd who’s obsessed with astronomy and I was excited to check this game out. But when I finally got my Xbox Series X and I heard all the bad reviews, I decided not even bother. Then one day while another game was updating, I saw I had some extra space, so I said what the hell. The best decision I’ve made this year. I absolutely LOVE this game. I’ve had it for maybe 3 weeks and I’ve put it over 55 hours. It’s football season and I rather play this game than watch football. I abandon my own family during football season, and now I rather play Starfield. Just to give people perspective lol. So that’s why I can’t understand for the life of me some of the complaints this game has received. How can people say there’s nothing to do lmaoooo. There is nothing BUT things to do. You can’t even finish a mission without stumbling into 2 other missions you can do later. Love the customization. Love the variety of missions so you can mix it up. The details and lore are impeccable as well. Is the game perfect?? No. But the potential for this game is endless. They have built the foundation to add on to this game for years to come. 1000 worlds they can continue to build onto???? Can’t wait to see what more they come up with #TeamStarfield
Just checked my stats and I have played Starfield for a collective amount of 11 days and 13 hours (277hrs) and been having a blast. Did all of the main and faction quests, did most if not all of the side content, made some cool ships and outposts, I even NG+ a couple of times. Now with that being said, how is anyone able to play a game for 500 hours or more and still not like it? I understand not feeling it within the first 2-5 hours and put it down but to trudge through a game that you don't even like for that long is crazy! Just rage playing the game, not even enjoying what they're doing
Upon release, I thought the game was meh. I rushed through the whole game to see this "New Game+". I didn't spend enough time anywhere to appreciate aspects of the game, and I let the internets opinion of this game ruin my own.. But... I'm currently 200 hours into my second playthrough, and I feel so incredibly immersed in this game and have not grown tired of it. Incredible story lines and characters, a well thought out universe, and some INCREDIBLY beautiful planets if you are willing to give exploration a chance. Once this game started getting hate, for things like 30fps on console at launch, no seemless launching/landing off of worlds, and IMO the MISUNDERSTANDING that all planets are barren of content, people just ran with the hate and it snowballed. I think many of us who love the game now were influenced by this hate at launch. This game wasn't given a fair chance and I hope after a few DLCs people come back and just play the game for what it is, I think they will thoroughly enjoy it
That's what I say: STAY WAY FROM HYPETUBERS. Yesm the kind that will jump on the bandwagon and point whatever direction the hype wind is blowing. The same happened with Cyberpunk on release. Had tons of problems but I had IMMENSE fun with it even then. But if you listened to influencers, one would think it was the worst game ever. Pretty sure once the hate fog finally settles many people will be able to enjoy Starfield for what it's worth, regardless of its (big) flaws. Also, if someone does something after being told it's sh1t, anything bad will be perceived 10x worse than it would if they just went in with no biases involved.
@@yesteryearr Rushing into NG+ was something I was told to avoid through a video by CohhCarnage back at launch and I’m glad I listened lol. Rushing the game means that you miss out on so many things due to trying to NG to “get things done” ASAP rather than organically playing the game. I’ve heard of a lot of people that rushed NG+ and were super disappointed with the game. That said, I’m glad you are enjoying it! I’ve been an enjoyer since day one, and even though the game does have some flaws (and plain poor/bad aspects), there is a lot of fun to be had. Not listening to the hate train UA-camrs and doofuses on Reddit helped me to see the game through my own eyes and not someone else’s. Can’t wait for Shattered Space!
@@thelvadam5113 I totally agree and think that this is one of the bigger flaws of the games. It turned me off upon release, and I've since learned to just accept it, as when playing on the Series X, the loading doesn't take too long. I do wish they are about to change it in a future update but I doubt it. I do have many gripes with the game and think Bethesda missed the mark in a few areas. But nevertheless it's a much more enjoyable game than people make it out to be.
How am I supposed to give exploration a chance when there’s fucking nothing to explore outside of the main towns other than quite literally copy and pasted locations.
I was a bit meh with starfield, after the rev8 update I hopped back in. I changed the difficulty to make enemies really strong, but also me really strong, so enemies aren't spongy. I also removed enemy markers and most of the hud. Now I have to play really tactically. A mod to change planet gen and up the amount of flora. Now forests feel like real forests. I'm having a great time now!
Been through the Unity 24 times, presently at level 242. Still loving the gameplay. Waiting patiently for Shattered Space DLC. The people that can't stand for others to have their own opinions are the trolls here, Melvin.
Wow I haven't even thought about the fact you can keep going through past 10 times. 24 is impressive, but you need to get to number 1 on the leader board of red mile. I don't want it spoiled if you know but I'm assuming something happens once you beat that guy that's number one that's always hanging out at red mile. I've only ran it twice so far. Don't wanna run it a lot then decide to go through the unity before I beat the record. Probably gonna wait til I'm at a universe I feel like settling in for a while
And I meant if you haven't already, you should beat the record at red mile, since you obviously are putting a lot of time into the game, because that would also be impressive. Plus I wanna talk to someone that's beat the record just to find out if anything at all happens for doing it even if it's something small. but don't wanna know exactly what happens, just whether or not something at all does.
I love the gameplay but I hate the world. Everything about it feels wrong. Like how the Free Star Collective must have billions of citizens, but the Freestar Rangers is composed of five people and they have the owner of a strip mall space station on their council of governors. The game should have been set right after the evacuation of Earth, after an apocalypse that killed 99% of the population (that would still leave 100 million people) or more. That would be a perfect setting for pirates, poverty, and settlement building.
Would have been nice for sure. I think you can blame that on Bethesda and using such an outdated engine that they simply can't do things like that. And their reliance on people to just mod these things in.
I dont think they were trying to go with the apocalyptic scenario, cuz thats already what Fallout is about. This is supposed to be a sci-fi universe. Its their 3rd universe created. You have Elder Scrolls Uni, Fallout Uni, and now Starfields Uni.
Side content in this game is really good. I feel like the people that didn’t like it didn’t actually play the game. Yes there is valid criticism but I think this game has good writing and fun gameplay
Funnily I had the same experience as you did. Tried it, didn’t like it, put it aside and forgot about it until I watched a video. Tried it again and suddenly fell in love. It’s far from perfect but I had a lot of fun in this game in the end!
I agree with the majority of your points, however, I don't understand how you can say this game has the best exploration and world building of all Bethesda games... This is literally Bethesda's worst attempt at exploration due to the copy/paste points of interest and empty worlds...
He did say Bethesda and to point Fallout 4 was the best they had to offer. BUT if you are going to procedurally generate planets on this scale you do at least 1k poi unique from each other. Not just "mine" or oh look, "caved in mine" or just "cave" that looks like every other "cave" on every other planet. Bethesda's strengths were their "hand drawn" locations even to the gnomes and mannequins they did in Fallout 4. Yeah sure they did the "Kid in the Fridge" fiasco but the rest was fairly competent.
The coherence and world building of Starfield is the best in Bethesda's history. Every weapon, part of your ship, suits, food, cities, faction and even planets has tons of lore and information. Do not blame the game if you were to lazy to search all this. Everything was there just awaiting to be discovered.
@@manuelsaizdiaz3873 Not really some things have logical fallacies that diminish the isolation of some star systems. The fact you have more "spacers" in the game than settled colonies is one of them and these spacers "live" in an area w/o oxygen "in" a space suit with infinite oxygen flying around ships with infinite fuel to a moon/planet with a temple next to an outpost.
Starfield's exploration is trash if you want well made, unique explorations. But if you want more of a time waster on a hamster wheel, it has enough quantity to keep the wheel going. At the end of the day, it really comes down to if you want quality, or quantity.
I’m one of the few who fell in love with this game from day one. In fact, I’m one of the few weirdos who thought the lack of mini-maps enhanced the experience. So glad I played through it before those got added. I’m still finding new stuff almost a year and hundreds of hours later. I think time will be incredibly kind to Starfield.
Hahaha you are definitely unique 😅. I do agree with the last statement, evenually with DLC and modding its gonna be a game that people spend thousands of hours on.
@@TahmidHOI completely understand why people were frustrated with the lack of maps. Ideally, a toggle to enable/disable them would have been available at launch - but for me their absence complemented the core themes of exploration and discovery in a profound way. It forced me to engage with the world in a manner I've never quite experienced in a game before. I wasn't just going from A to B - I was learning the city and remembering directions to points of interest as I played. Not just in the usual form of muscle memory that comes from repetitive play, but active observation of the world around me. Again - 100% get how that wouldn't interest most people, but it was an essential part of my experience with Starfield.
I had never played a Bethesda game previous to this year, yet I’m having a blast playing Starfield. It’s a game for a more mature audience as there isn’t much sex, cursing, or drugs (from what I’ve seen), and it’s a really nice change of pace for someone like myself who also enjoys GTA. In Starfield the world isn’t out to get you, it’s waiting for you to explore it by meeting new people, forging new relationships, and getting thrown into unique situations. The choices I make during a quest-line have an affect on the outcome of the situation and also what other people believe or don’t believe, like the Terrormorph questline. Also, you receive exclusive spaceships, spacesuits, clothes, accessories, and official titles by completing these quests.
From what I've heard i wouldn't say mature more like sanitized if it where mature it would have delved deeper into complex interpersonal relationships with the characters of the world like sam and his daughter they did nothing with her if he dies and his eulogy his just empty
I feel like they could just add some dynamic events and really make some sort of weather system. Play tornadoes, better storms, it would be so much better
100%. I downloaded a mod which just slightly increases how often the weather changes. Already an improvement. But yeah, proper storms, tornados, blizzards, volcanos?!
This sounds great. I think I did see a mod that randomizes battles/encounters more. Like enemies will call for reinforcements more often - and you'll also stumble across far more battles between factions. I even saw it may have regular POIs suddenly get invaded by opposing factions as well so you aren't the ONLY guy in the galaxy trying to loot a place and it makes it feel more alive. The POI system was simply not filled out enough. It was almost like they created a base for modders to create masterpieces with. However, it's taken a long ass time to start arriving at more content like this that I wish we could have just had from launch!
@@gsimon123 yeah that's what I need. It's a lot more variety when you land on planets. Honestly I think helldivers too is pretty perfect when it comes to atmosphere
People being mad that someone enjoys a videogame is just wild to me. So many people in the comment section crying and having a meltdown because you actually enjoy Starfield, if I hate a game I simply never think about it again, not hang around starting fights with people in comment sections under videos about said game lol that’s some serious basement dwelling virgin energy. Anyways I absolutely adore this game, I think if people just hop into the side content a lot of minds would be changed.
I've loved Starfield since day one...preordered, had my work computer's wallpaper as Starfield concept art for a year or more leading up to launch, have a Starfield t-shirt, etc. I still love the game and it is among my favorites, but it's not without its flaws and downright bad aspects. Despite its flaws, I have over 250 hours in the game and I'm looking forward to going back and playing it again once Shattered Space drops. I've been saying for 6+ months that we're going to start seeing more "Starfield is underrated" type videos coming out as time goes on, and it looks like that has started as I've come across 3 videos like this one in the last couple weeks. Good video, and I'm glad you're enjoying the game!
I think the problem with Starfield is it’s pretty great until it’s not and then when it’s not, it’s hard to see it the same again. The core gameplay is fun for limited time, but once you get the point of no return, it becomes really soulless and you almost start to feel stupid for having enjoyed it. It’s almost like how when you’re really hungry a McDonald’s double cheeseburger with fries can tastes delicious but then you can finish it and realize it was actually kind of terrible.
You deffo havent played the game. Also the people complaining about empty planets yet non of them bothers to Base build on them. Its a space game, what did they expect?
For me, not having a map helped highlight the amazing job they did with the in-game directions. Knowing i want to go somewhere (like the trade authority), finding a kiosk that will tell me which district its in, then using the signs to find my way there, slowly memorizing the city layout, in my mind, is so much better than placing a marker and following the big glowy thing. This is not to excuse not having a map though. Just because i liked it is no excuse for not having one in a game about exploration in 2023.
Seeing a lot of videos like this coming out now! It took me about 10 hours to get a feel for starfield & having loved fo4 & skyrim so much in the past, i was disappointed not to just jump in & love it from the first second. Then i decided to stop projecting what the game "should" be & just let it tell me what type of game it actually was. Unfinished in many areas yes, but overlooking those flaws, it's actually a really good game & doubtless will become great in time through dlc.
Exactly my thoughts, the game doesn't have the same heroic and dramatic start as all other Bethesda games, but it certainly still gives you that power fantasy later on. It takes a while but it becomes brilliant
I honestly keep going back to it. I can say that I’ve never wasted money on a Bethesda game. When you compare what some other developers are offering at the same price point, but that’s his games have always been a bargain in my opinion. I have returned to Skyrim fallout and Starfield all this year and have pumped in another 2 to 3 dozen hours into the games. I hardly ever do that with other games. Not only do I like to return to the atmospheres that they have created, but to see what mods or updates have done to the game progressively just keeps the replay value far greater than other games. For single player atmospheric games I think Bethesda still offers the absolute best for your money.
Played Starfield on launch and been playing again using the gameplay options they added and some soft mods. So far it's being one of the best experience in games I ever had. I recommend changing the combat to extreme damage from enemies and easy for player, so the combat feels more strategic.
@@MikeJones-mf2fwyeah just like fo4's survival difficulty. Depending on the enemy type it can just be a question of who shoots first wins! I also use a mod which removes red marks for enemies from the compass, & enemy health bars. Way more tactical.
@@MikeJones-mf2fw Kinda. It's doable, but you have to use items like battlestims etc. It adds more gameplay loops and you're not just guns blazing. You take cover, you think strategies
I have 200 hours into Starfield so far. I've been playing for about 6 months and plan to play it a lot more. Been playing Bethesda games since fallout 3 and always put alooootttt of time into these games. I currently have ~3,400 hours into fallout 76, to give perspective on what I mean by alot. I too have watched a lot of the hate videos and noticed that while SOME of the criticisms are accurate, there is a lot of inaccurate claims being made and incorrect assumptions. But mainly what I wanted to say was that I like what youre saying about the side quests. I've been saying basically the same thing. I really feel like the main story isn't even meant to be the main thing you do in Starfield. I feel like the main story only exists to make the amount of long and in depth side quests more fun to do. I'm constantly doing something fun or interesting when I'm playing. I totally understand that some people simply just don't like Starfield and that's expected. But I also feel like some of the people hating are only doing it because it's the current "cool" thing to do lol. And a lot of the UA-cam videos hating on it only exist because the creators of the videos know they'll get alot of views. Not every video but I've seen a couple channels clearly milking the Starfield hate for views. Good video!
Thanks man... Finally some content that is not just trashing the game saying that is the worse game of this decade... I've playing Starfield since de Launch and, yes it's not perfect, but the good parts of it are absolutely Majestic... Companions are great, even Sarah, that can bother sometimes, has a great side quest... The updates helped the game to get better and better, and the new dlc has a lot of potential... Starfield is actually a really good game, that i think now can be called Underrated...
Starfield has the potential to be BGS best game. I hit NG+ 1, set my lvl 80 character up with all the best gear, 900,000 creds & a smugglers outpost with over 300,000 worth of contraband and turned it off about 5 months ago. Being lvl 80 I’ve pretty much seen all it has to offer so I’m not going back until the games actually “Finished” with land vehicles & DLC so It’ll feel like a fresh new game
This is the one of the few rare games that I've put over 100+ hour into (the other being Zelda Breath of the Wild) This was when the internet was telling me that rhe game is "terrible"🙄 This is why people should form their own instead of listening to clickbaiting youtubers and influencers
Tf are you on about, everyone on the internet says breath of the wild is great, the game has a 97/100 metascore, and it’s user reviews are stellar, on top of being one of the most sold games of the last generation. In what world do you live?
the beauty of the story of new vegas is that you complete it by doing basically a bunch of side quests for certain factions instead of just following a main quest
Someone forming their own opinion? In 2024? Cool. Like most Bethesda open world games I've played, I don't think its an excellent game, but I think there is genuine enjoyment to be had. Big youtubers would have you believe this is the worst game ever made. They did the same for 2077 too. I guess outrage is what gets clicks. Anyways, thanks for reminding me that there are real humans on this site and not just bots. Cheers!
Bought this game a week ago and i take my time exploring everything. Just landed on Mars and the underground city called Cydonia or something looks incredible with so much going on I don't even know who to talk to first 😅
I thought the game was incredible when I started too. The best is immediately evident, the bad stuff starts to grow more irritating the longer you play.
@vladimirshishkov3846 probably the procedurally generated planets with the same generic quests. I don't have a problem with them personally because there are still enough hand crafted quests and in a few days the new huge DLC.
I like Starfield. There is just a hater bandwagon there for people to feel included like they never were in high school. They will complain about it online, yet somehow felt motivated to invest 100s of hours into it. 🤷
True a lot of people just regurgitate information they found from the original reviews and since those videos got so many views people fed into it. My guess is when the shattered star releases we will see a change in tune, especially if they can update the game till then.
I was popular in high school and never thought I'd refund a BGS title in a million years. So I bought the Premium Edition, played for a few hours, and refunded. Sad...
@@chrisnewbury3793 Well that's the point I made. I did the same thing then I forced myself to play more than a few hours and when the game opened up I found it significantly more fun than the opening sequence. That's essentially what this whole video is about lol
My first game that really made me feel like i was the character. I love the traits, story and character creation. The amount of things to explore, the lore, and detail in my opinion are out of this world. The game is so damn fun! Ive also been playing on the hardest difficulty - this really helps with immersion!
After returning to SF since I've last played it at the start of '24, I'm noticing that people are still complaining about all the things this game isn't, instead of appreciating that Bethesda really tried something new and imo did something special. Yes, there are bugs, but that's expected from a BGS title honestly, and it's been this way for at least 15 years; aka it's something that likely won't change. But SF offers something that so many players seem to be completely unaware of: It takes its' time to unfold. It seems to me that more and more people are unwilling or unable to take their time with something and appreciate it. Starfield won't work for someone who only wants instant gratification and results or who doesn't understand subliminal storytelling - or both. SF isn't Fortnite, it's not No Man's Sky, Star Citizen or Escape from Tarkov either. Hell, it's not even as close to Skyrim as so many people think it is. Skyrim itself is only remembered so fondly because there's a billion mods for it that lengthened the llife-cycle of that game. To me, it has always been pretty boring, I was always more of a Fallout fan tbh. But it doesn't matter here. What I'm trying to say is that in order to understand and appreciate Starfield, you have to take your time with it and let it sink in. The storytelling and quest system, while not flawless, is still deeper than what any of the previous modern Bethesda have offered so far. The fact that it's not something you're going to rush through to get your hourly dopamine hit is something that we should be thankful for, especially in the gaming world of today where most AAA-games aren't much more than giant microtransaction advertisements.
Well said. While I don't agree with what you said entirely- I do think that Bethesda did drop the ball in some aspects of this game- it's like I said in the video, the game is a slow burn.
@@TahmidHO Yeah, and I appreciate your pov as well, but many people won't. And sure, BGS is not an angel in this industry with their applied business practices. But at least they tried to do something new which is more than you can say about other franchises. ^^
I hate rpg games normally, I tried fallout 4 when it came out and hated it despite playing for over 30-40 hours waiting for it to get fun, and later I tried Skyrim and felt the same. I got Starfield off game pass and I put in over 200 hours and I have had fun. There’s things that could be better for sure but I agree it’s a good game. Personally I found it way more enjoyable than fallout and Skyrim but I think it just depends what you’re interested in.
I really love the game now, when I first started the game a year ago I almost rage quit at least a dozen times, it was so buggy and was really trying to melt my CPU. But they fixed it, runs great now, not perfect but darn good. I'm kinda a space geek though, grew up with a dad who worked for an aerospace company so my whole bedroom was covered in space stuff. I spent hours drawing spaceships and battles, so this game just reached that inner child and instead of drawing soaceships im making them and exploring and having space battles. I have no doubt got my money's worth and now with modders this game will just get better and better like most of their games
I played Starfield for 140 hours at launch and binged it thoroughly. Absolutely loved it. All the negative reviews and crap online about the game honestly shocked me or felt very dishonest to me, and it still does. It was one of the best games I played that year, along with Mario Wonder. I can't wait for the expansion. I actually feel bad for the people who worked on the game because I think, for the most part, they all genuinely tried to make a great game. They were probably just as clueless about the reaction as I was. At the end of the day, I think there really was anti-Bethesda and anti-Microsoft sentiment that drove a lot of the hate towards Starfield. Everything from bandwagoning, to getting back at them for Fallout 76, to being upset that it was not coming to the PS5, to just hating Starfield because it was now an Xbox exclusive, and many other things. For the first week, I genuinely feel like most of the feedback wasn't really about the game. There were a whole lot of dishonest arguments and claims made, and a lot of extreme cherry-picking going on. But sadly, only a person who played it for more than an hour could tell you that honestly, and if you did try to correct the record, there was no shortage of people just waiting to dunk on you and strawman your positions and throw out ad hominem attacks. Because the hate on Starfield never stopped - IGN and several twitter accounts and channels wouldn't stop bashing the game, I actually felt like this was some form of coordinated propaganda to change public opinion. It doesn't make sense how this hate went on for literally 3 or 4 months after release. That's the really concerning part. This is a very disproportionate response, regardless of what one thinks of the game. And you even said it - it worked on you. That media machine actually got you to stop playing it. I feel like that was the intent. That's crazy to me. If you loved New Vegas and games like this, I would expect you to give it more of a chance. It's not every day a great western RPG of this style comes out. It's rare in fact. But the media bashing still worked on you. In my entire life, I have never seen a game more hated online compared to Starfield, and it's sad because the game, while not perfect, is genuinely fantastic. It's a very easy 8.5 or 9 out of 10 for me.
Well said, summarized exactly how I feel the media latched onto this game. Just wait till shattered space people will make videos saying "is starfield finally good?". People did the same thing with cyberpunk btw. I was a day one player for that game and unfortunately cuz of bugs I actually couldn't progress. But 6 months after launch it was amazing yet it was still shit on by everyone. Then the Anime Update and DLC update came out and people were praising something that existed for months.
The game is hated because its wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle in almost all its content and systems. At worst it's a dogshit game, at best it's tolerably disappointing. Take off your tin hat.
@@jamin12342 Whenever someone leaves a comment like this it always reaffirms my position it's people who have never played the game and just regurgitate whatever bullshit they read online. I have never heard one concrete example, yet those who speak highly of the game always have loads of examples.
@@TahmidHO I've played 353 hours. I've completed a general playthrough once, then a second detailed playthrough with the main story, FS Rangers, UC Vanguard, I've done several planets with its radiant quests and explored them then sold the survey data, bounty hunting etc etc. Other than the handcrafted factions quests, the game is wide as an ocean with its 1000 planets, deep as a puddle with its generic radiant quests. The planetary POI literally repeat themselves with all its lore notes, enemy placement etc across star systems. You survey the planets then sell the data to Vladimir and don't get any engagement from the game, no lines, no thanks, just credits in the trade screen. Bounty hunting is the same generic go to ship, kill unnamed bad guy, free unnamed good guy, get the same lines everytime, get creds, done. It's nearly always the same unengaging shit, the game barely responses to your actions. Cool that you enjoy the game, just don't expect other people to put up with mediocrity.
@@jamin12342 You played a "dogshit" game for 353 hours? I find that extremely difficult to believe. I also want to point that I predicted your response by mentioning the ad hominems and what not. You did exactly what I said you would do.
The problem I think people have is they expected the game to be something that it isn’t. This game isn’t made for everyone. But the audience that it is made for do really enjoy it. I personally love a lot about the game and I 100% agree with the criticism that is valid. Yes the exploration can be better and the main story could be better but damn man it’s a pretty good Bethesda game at the end of the day. I occasionally will return to this game every so often when I get the urge. The soundtrack is super underrated too.
The problem is that everything Starfield does, is done better my other games. Often 20 year old games. Role playing is shallow compared to other RPGS. Combat is worse than Half Life 2, let alone dozens of other shooters since. Dialog is bland and childish, worse than other story games (RDR2, Cyberpunk etc). Space travel is worse than Elite and No Mans Sky. The thing Starfield has, is that it is the only one that does all of those things together, in the same game. It is super casual, easy to play with brain disengaged. A lot of the positive comments are from people who don't play many other games, so have no benchmark to compare too. Gamer dads, gamer grandads (I know a few of those!). young kids. Given all that, I think you are right to say people expected something else. The game was never intended to be some deep, challenging, boundary pushing epic. Those who grew up with the earlier Bethesda games and expected 10 years of improvements, expected Bethesda to have grown up. But they haven't. Instead, they doubled down on the weakest elements of their past games and removed the best parts (eg hand crafted worlds to explore). It's Skyrim in space. Only less. Much less. Clearly some people like it. Just not that many, when plenty of other games have grown up, moved on and are providing something with better quality in each of those elements - exploration, world building, combat, NPC interaction etc etc
@ Yeah I agree with you completely. I do see all of these problems in the game too. I really hope that they get some new, younger and passionate game devs at Bethesda soon to make these necessary changes to their game formula. One thing that has always bothered me in Starfield is the lack of hand crafted areas. The exploration in the game does suck a lot for that. I’m more of a casual rpg guy rn so I would see how someone who is more experienced with rpgs would see Starfield as boring and lame in comparison to any modern rpg. I think at the end of the day, the game was just way too ambitious for the current dev teams capabilities in the current video game industry. We unfortunately can’t change Starfield to be the game that it should have been but hopefully we can make Bethesda change how they go about their next big release.
Honestly, I enjoyed a lot of aspects of this game. The questing is a step up from their previous titles. The worlds tend to feel very undercooked, especially compared to their previous titles where the entire thing was handcrafted. Major cities are cool, but their immediate surroundings are not, and that sense of wonder from exploration is, ironically, the weakest in this game out of any of their previous titles because of that. This _should_ be the game with the best exploration, but it's actually the shallowest when it comes to that. The procedural generation tools they created for this game are genuinely impressive, especially after giving the Creation Kit a look, it's very powerful stuff and creates very convincing worlds, albeit barren ones. The random outposts and points of interest do not have enough variations to justify the vast majority of the game being procedurally generated. I would've preferred 5-10 small planets with way more handcrafted points of interest than what we ended up getting.
These are the types of reviews I enjoy. Most reviewers literally live off of playing games so obviously, if a game isn't 100% perfect they won't like it. But, as a casual player myself, seeing reviews from other casual players helps me make my decision on whether or not I should get it. This is brilliant!
The one thing I strongly feel needs to be fixed and very well could be is smarter NPC. It completely breaks immersion when you can freely draw your weapon and no reaction from any NPC.
@@TahmidHOexactly. I wish there were consequences for dialogue choices too. I feel like you as a player can’t really change the narrative no matter what dialogue you choose. Take the Ron Hope quest for example. I really wanted to throw that asshole in prison but instead had to off him and his guards lol
@@MexiRambo It's funny you mention that specific quest because there's actually several different options you have for resolving it. I understand the sentiment, "I wish I could throw him in jail" but the fact that he attacks you instead of willingly being arrested is not really immersion breaking. In that quest you could simply accept his bribe, Keep Rons secret without the bribe which is essentially the same as before without money. Then you can choose not to keep his secret which considering the character of Ron Hope sort of makes sense why he would rather kill you out right than sit there and go quiet to jail. In this aspect I would say this game was better than Skyrim but worse than Fallout 4 and 3.
@@RavageTV_ he is a clickbaity variety streamer that lets his minions churn out awful wikis. they contain tons of false info and are barebones overall, and for some reason they show up higher on google than real wikis.
@@RavageTV_ A lot of people dislike Fextralife for their unmaintained wiki. They were infamous with a lot of gaming communities but this didn't come to people's attention until the last few years. For example, with BG3, Fextralife's wiki used information from the tabletop game instead of actual in-game data. Fextralife also has a tendency to abandon their wikis after the FOTM period is over - this results in the aforementioned barebones wiki full of empty templates, incorrect/outdated information, etc. Some people also simply dislike them for embedding their Twitch stream on the wiki so they can pad viewers. It's not against Twitch's rules, but it comes across as disingenuous. That, and Fextralife's wiki tends to top community-made wikis in search results. Traffic that could've gone to an actually maintained wiki ends up going to Fextralife and that doesn't sit well with a lot of people.
Starfield is by no means perfect, but it isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. The main quest is where it falls flat for me, but that's the case for every Bethesda game imo. starfield's main quests really makes you think towards the end before the unity, it gives you a choice of morality which i really enjoyed and wished there was more of. The UC vanguard quest/Ryujin/Crimson fleet questlines are all great and blew me away on first playthrough, and they really felt like the true Bethesda styled questlines, and reminded me so much of old Bethesda games. the gameplay is easily the best out of all Bethesda games, gunplay/ship battles feel great. and ship building is phenomenal. My only complaint there being that melee kinda sucks, and the gun variety is poor. I really liked the addition of the "persuade" in dialogue but it feels like they focused too much on that and let go of a lot of other dialogue features that i miss. starfield is by no means perfect, but it is not a bad game either, its a solid 7/10 for me, with potential to grow higher with future dlcs. as all Bethesda games start to shine with their dlcs In my opinion. skyrim with no dlc wouldnt be nearly as fun for me, same with oblivion and fo4.
The reason most people don’t understand starfield is the understand it from a set of gameplay mechanics rather than the vision your supposed to try to immerse yourself in the game flew to close to the sun and nobody understood it
I would love to be it that way, but how can you immerse yourself in a game that breaks it'S own immersion in the very first city you land in? You arrive in New Atlantis and you get recruited by UC Security and right around the next corner you can meet an illegal art dealer and as a member of UC Security you can do absolutley nothing with it. Immersion broken.
It's a great game indeed. I honestly believe that most of the internet haters haven't actually played the game and are going by e-celeb videos bashing the game. Some people genuinely tried and didn't like it, and that's fine, but most of the complaints i see in some comments are simply too vague or completely imprecise about what the game is. People claiming that the game is very buggy or broken is a dead giveaway to me that someone didn't play the game.
@@majorlouis956 Your comment and grammar make no sense. Spend some more time in school instead of tracking down videos of a game you don’t like and leaving unintelligible comments.
I think people hate the game because they’re expecting it to be something that caters to their imagination. It’s a video game about space exploration . There’s plenty to explore but aLOT of outer space (sad to say) is empty . It’s just a game , a very beautiful game with some great gunplay , excellent customization, a decent story and it’s just a comfy experience . Sit back crack a beer and just get lost in space
There is honestly nothing controversial about YOU enjoying something, even if others don’t, as long as you feel that you get enjoyment out of playing something, that is what matters, I love Starfield I do think at times due to the scale of the game it can feel somewhat lacking in areas but over all I felt it was filled enough to bring me enjoyment and a whole lot of it at that! So screw the naysayers if you enjoy it. play it 😊
I am now 500h in. At launch I also had a difficult time with the game because it was so different and some mechanics I thought for sure would be in there, weren't. For example I missed that the clutter Items don't have purpose like in FO4. Same with the outpost mechanic, I was hoping to make a settlement like in FO4. Then I layed the game to rest for about 6 months, I picked it up again before the creation update. I said to myself :" I know you are different, but I want to make this work" a couple of 100h later I had all achievements, downloaded creation kit and actually started to learn how to mod and I released 3 mods so far (5 total but 2 are reworks of the same mod) and now I catch myself thinking everyday :" I could play a little starfield later". What I am trying to say is that this game is awesome and overhated because hating bethesda is a trend. Popular youtubers like asmongold keep comparing it to no mans sky, which does not make sense because one is a space exploration game, the other a RPG set in space.
I've been in it since early release, about 1200 hrs so far. Mod baby mod. Like a commenter on another video that said Starfield is going to become our Skyrim where you fire up Starfield to play your mods, I am there. I'm deep into the Darkstar mods. Simply satisfying.
@@TahmidHO It was a nice surprise, but in hindsight Starfield has arguably one of the weakest main quests in their games yet. Too repetitive, even though eventually there is a twist. But only after playing for quite a few hours.
@TahmidHO I'm a skyrim fan from launch on multiple systems,i rememberthe hate that game receivedfrom launch, this game will only get better ,but yes it's only my opinion
To be honest this is a far more sensible take than the people who built up their own idea of Starfield in their heads and then got disappointed by it later on.
@@TahmidHOthis. exactly this. 99% of the hate i see online is from people who overhyped it to be something they never promised it would be and then got upset it wasn’t what they imagined
@@TahmidHO starfield being a game made by bethesda and the expectations with that is the worst thing about the game. We did not want dated graphics, tons of loading screens, mediocre story, bad facial animations and models, be gunplay, horrible melee combat, and like bethesda fashion, removing simple systems that were implemented in previous games. You cant swim in starfield but you could in skyrim. Guards reacted to your shouts but now they dont even react to bullets flying at their feet. And thats just their own game im talking about. you compare it to any heavy hitter game that came out recently and you can see why people were disappointed with the game. If you think the game is genuinely brilliant then your expectations are in the gutter. Starfield should have came out 1 year after skyrim. Then it might have seemed good. You are excusing things by saying "its a bethesda title".
people just refuse to change their point of view most of the time, starfield is the best bethesda game ever made,is just not the skyrim/fallout formula openworld clone that some of those fanboys wanted,if you accept it as a none bethesda made brand new ip,this game is near perfect except loading time
I wouldn't call it the best game Bethesda ever made but it's definitely not the worst thing to ever exist like a lot of people are claiming. It's a great game that has a ton to offer
I decided to play a new game after running through mass effect again, and I'm far far more addicted to SF than ME (which is a fantastic time). I cannot stop playing it and am loving the hell out of starfield all over again. I know the internet says I'm supposed to hate it, but no. No, it is incredible.
As long as you stay on the surface level of the game, it can be fun. But if you think there is any depth to something or go try to explore without directly heading to a unique location. It will get extremely boring really fast. I’ve never tried to like a game so hard before, even now as I’m watching this video hoping to be inspired, as I view the gameplay it just reminds me how empty it really is. Bottom line is Bethesda did’t take any creative risks in developing an engaging story. It’s not like Skyrim where I can post my character up at the Candlehearth Hall inn listening to beautiful in game music and read a surprisingly good book that i found on a shelf at a bandit camp after rampaging through them as a werewolf. It wasn’t hard to like that game, it was hard to put it down.
Love this game, I continue to play it to this day, vehicle transportation will soon be added too so that will make traversing the planets even better. My only real complaint about starfield is that points of interest can be repeatedly found in every planet. My nitpickiness is that I would like to be able to travel from planet to planet manually, AND having the chance to find random events in space.
Hating an inanimate object because other people enjoy it is beyond stupid but that’s where we are at today. I find starfield enjoyable the mods are pretty awesome so far too and the dlc is coming soon so I’m excited for what’s next. I wouldn’t let the people the people with a raging hate boner for the game ruin my experience, good on you for making actual content that’s not someone crying about starfield not being like fallout or no man’s sky. 👍
Lots of others I am not definitely not the first, its just the fact that hating is more popular so a lot of people play the game with their minds made up to begin with.
My thing is, I love Starfield. Not because it’s gameplay/graphic juggernaut like a lot of other AAA titles. But because it has charm. And I can roleplay as a bounty hunter, UC vanguard pilot, pirate, and so much more. Yeah the game absolutely has a lot that it could’ve/should’ve done better. But the game has really grown on me. I’m taking the old fashion “it is what you make it” approach. And honestly having that mindset has really helped me I’m enjoying the game more. Now I go and survey planets, do missions, but resource farms, bases. It’s genuinely a fun game. Not perfect by any means but a fun game. Before mods my rating was 5.3/10. Now it’s a 6.8-7/10
The like to dislike ratio really just shows how people can't take a different opinion these days when it comes to gaming. So what if he likes Starfield? I really like it personally but I'm not gonna go disliking every video critical of it or hate on anyone. Heck, I watched another video just now that was very critical of it but well thought out and funny. Did I disagree with some points? Certainly, but he was entitled to his opinion too.
Its a great game. I very much enjoyed the first play through. The glitches during some missions sucked tho an the side quests were pretty cool. Ship building is fun once youre high enough leveled up Outposts are new to me, so I may get into those next play through.
BGS games are always so massive in scope and take so long to produce I think people are ultimately disappointed when it doesn't have the depth they are expecting. This is not because BGS is bad or lazy, it's because getting the game up to par with people's massive expectations would change development times from 7 years to 10+ with major support from the studio long into the future beyond even DLCs and patches
I think some disappointment is player driven. Some people commented that they are disappointed they couldn't explore the whole universe which is a bit ridiculous to ask for.
@@TahmidHO Right, I think the expectation for Starfield was basically "Every sci fi game you have ever played combined into one massive game" which is never what Starfield was marketed as, but given the immersion and depth of previous Bethesda games people's expectations were very high, and ultimately Starfield was NOT like many other sci fi games. Personally I would like it if BGS wasn't so secretive about their games leading up to release, that might help them manage expectations so this doesn't happen again, if they told us "Hey, here's what ES6 will be like and some different systems we have" like 6 months before release instead of dropping a trailer that doesn't reveal much about the game 3 months before release
I stand by shattering instigating hitman hardtarget being the best weapon in the game if you can get it, combine it with slowed time power and most enemies are dead before you get shot once.
I played Starfield on release and didn't start reading reviews until I was in the endgame. I was very surprised to see that most people didn't like it. I loved the worldbuilding, exploration, side content, and ship systems. It was a really fun game. This makes me wonder if there are other fun games out there that I ignored because they had many negative reviews. Ultimately, fun is subjective. Reviews are helpful, but we should keep in mind that most reviewers don't share our preferences.
Starfields reception is one of the most polarizing things I've ever witnessed in gaming. Normally when a game is universally hated and deemed garbage by the gaming community, I understand where everyone is coming from. I can't for the life of me understand why with starfield. It has its issues for sure, but people are overblowing the hell out of them
simple. they are 2 things i can say at least. over to the moon promises. and 10 km under delivering. they promise us big chunk of gold. they gave us 1 gr of gold but plated with 20 kilos of dirt. second, the audacity of them. having their games fixed by modders for "free" making them complacent and becomes lazy. its like "hey you guys like hamburger right? here, a pair of bread with nothing in between you can add anything you want later at home! and yeah you need to pay a hundred bucks for it. and i need to remind you, to eat it you need to buy a new dentures so you can chew it because its a new kind of bread we spent decades to bring to existence so of course your feeble teeth are not qualified to eat it!"
@axelroid720 I completely disagree with this. If you go back and watch the promotional footage and showcases, they never lied about anything. There's even an interview with Todd Howard where he says planets operate on a grid system. The reality is that you and many others fantasized about this idealic version of the game in your heads, and started just assuming a ton of stuff that was never said to be in the game was going to be there, and now you're disappointed because you didn't get this fantasy product you imagined. And I'm not even going to give that modder argument a response. It's a copy and pasted insult that pseudo intellectuals use bc they get all of their opinions from other people that sound smart to them
Because it’s deserved. It’s a mediocre title and the lack of interest from the gaming community unless it’s negative shows this. You even hear the owner of this video say the game put him off at 1st and he found it boring a couple of hours in. In fact I know this streamer that got bored of Starfield after doing one stream, quit to go play Baldur’s Gate 3 and never looked back. Mind you Bethesda gifted her the game and sponsored her stream. But she found it too boring for her to continue. Also she got 7.7k views for her 1st video for Starfield and over 180k for BG3. And this is one example of many streamers who experienced this. Starfield is just simply but, a painfully mediocre game and I hope it’s a wake up call for Bethesda cos their games keep getting overshadowed. The Witcher 3 overshadowed Fallout 4 in 2015. Baldur’s Gate 3 overshadowed Starfield in 2023 and if they’re not careful, The Witcher 4 will overshadow Elder Scrolls 6. But it’s Todd so I have low expectations
I liked the game when it came out but didn’t play long. Just came back to it this week and I’m LOVING it! Hoping they add more and continue to grow this universe.
My personal opinion is starfield is the skyrim replacement. Since the pre-order early access started I haven't wanted to play skyrim anymore. Only BGS game I've been playing since it's release.
After the fallout show I wanted to play fallout 4, arguably my favorite fallout experience due to the gameplay even though New Vegas has a special place in my heart
@TahmidHO yeah the show was great, gave me the fallout bug for a bit but didn't last long. Fantasy and SiFi are my favorite to genres post apocalyptic would be third on my list. Now Bethesda offers a game to scratch all 3 for me.
@numberonedad been playing skyrim since launch, starfield is the first game to keep me from going back to skyrim. So yeah starfield has replaced skyrim for me. Now when elder scrolls 6 comes it will most likely replace all other BGS games for me.
Honestly, I assumed pretty early on that my problem with the game is exactly that it's the quintessential Bethesda game, which I enjoyed up until around like 2016 but eventually I just grew bored of it, open worlds games just don't do it for me anymore. I can't bring myself to play Oblivion, Skyrim or any of the Fallout games after 2 anymore, but what usually gets me is the writing, Bethesda's style of writing is very... Bland and descriptive, which in turn doesn't give the voice actors a lot to work with, so you just sit there listening to NPCs talk in an almost monotone voice for several minutes while doing nothing, and shit, I got high tolerance for lengthy dialogue, both when it comes to listening or reading, after all, CRPGs are my favorite types of games, but Starfield just couldn't hold my attention, add to that a very "outdated" core gameplay for the lack of a better word and the game lost my interest very quickly. Thankfully I wasn't really hyped for Starfield so I didn't really get disappointed when I didn't end up enjoying the game. I truly hope Bethesda learn some lessons from Starfield in order to make TES6 an amazing game, I may not enjoy Skyrim's gameplay or Bethesda's game design in general anymore, but TES' lore still holds a special place in my heart and I will probably end up playing it anyways.
Recently general game community made me just stop using social media for a certain period when I want to play game. I noticed my enjoyment usually goes up whenever I do that, and they don't dip so low like when I read review and others opinion. And at the very least I get to have MY OWN opinion with zero outside influence. Internet, or at least general game community have become hate farm now and I don't like it at all
Too many haters as far as Starfield is concerned. They will hate no matter what. It isn't about the game or Bethesda. They think opinions that are different than theirs don't matter. YES THEY DO MATTER. I also love Starfield and Shattered Space, although the DLC wasn't long enough. It was still fun and exciting for a couple of days. Great to find a channel that loves Starfield. Thanks.
You nail my biggest gripe: to unlock the "fun" you have to play for dozens of hours as Bethesda drip feeds you basic gameplay elements via the skill trees. It's easily my least favorite skill tree in that regard.
despite my praise of the game, I have to agree with you. I genuinely thought they just decided to make flying ships, incredibly unfun, but it isn't after you spend a significant amount of investment into the ship, perks and buying new ships and modifying ships that it becomes worthwhile and I would say a very enjoyable experience.
Thank you. This is EXACTLY true. The Quests (and the Faction Quest in particular) are imo the best that BGS ever did. Its kinda sad this this all drowned in a flood of dumb hate-shit.
I just can't get enough of this game, just like I always do with Bethesda games. After over 300 hours, I was finally getting ready to put it down for a while when mods came into being and it immediately lit the fire again and I am still playing it. I play it the same way I do every Bethesda title in that I actually role play and I never seem to get bored with it.
Fallout was a 7/10, with dlc it comes to a 8/10, starfield was a 6/10 with patches and the new additions like the missing map and a new rover the game gets a 7/10, we'll see what the dlc brings
I always loved Starfield but it's probably b/c I had no expectations & no need to play it but all the videos (majority the bad ones) mad me want to try it when it came out free on gamepass. Man I had a blast & right now it fits into how I would play games after I completed them but didn't want to start over. I would make my own missions in my head. Like even gta 5 I played a lot of hours after I had completed the game. I was basically just a tow truck driver with Franklin or I would do supply runs with Trevor. Same with saints row 2. I did every u can do mission & faction wise & even activity wise. The main thing that hooked me was the UC faction quest. The factions were damn near games by themselves. I've went into damn near every system in the game. Not solar but things u can do. I never thought I would get into ship bubuilding b/c it looked to difficult but then at a time seeing everyone's ships on youtube made me want to invest time & skill points into ship building & piloting. It's krazy b/c that journey of becoming a pilot & master ship building along. So doing these things in between was just like living my life & working b/c the main mission doesn't pay u like that. I invested in the commerce skill. I was master weapon building, working on suit building, b4 I stopped. But the shattered space dlc made me come back to get back used to the game. Now ive been sucked into surveying planets & having a ball...KRazy how ive only been back 5 to 6 days & they've added the buggy so I dont have to jetpack everywhere to get resources
Here's my experience in maybe 12 hours: Try to lockpick door, it needs a key. Destroy door? Yeah no. Try to steal from merchants, yeah no inventory is empty. Try to kill some obnoxious npc in a quest, sorry its essential. Go explore planet, run around for 15 minutes to get to an incredibly lackluster randomly generated event/cave/encounter, do that a couple more times and find the exact same cave twice in like 2 hours. Try to kill the main quest npcs because I don't like them, nope essential. Steal a ship from a pirate and try to sell it, the spaceship is worth like 800 credits. Try to loot corpses, overencumbered. Try to kill guy, bullet sponge. Guy threatens me I am angry I put a bullet in his face, he is essential. I like jetpack jumping, in the city jump on a building and run around roofs, find door (fun?), Door needs key (disappointed). There's a locked elevator, needs keycard, try pickpocketing every npc in vicinity, no keycard. Like I don't get it did you literally just follow the quest marker? Do you not try to experiment at all in an open world game? Play baldurs gate 3 if you wanna experience what actual freedom is.
Baldurs Gate 3 and this game aren't in the same category. If you're comparing any triple A game to Baldurs Gate 3, 99% will fall short. But doesn't change the fact that subjectively you can enjoy other games.
The lesson of this story: Don't listen to losers like Puke Stephens who go out of their way to hate on anything Bethesda. The game has always been pretty good, it just needed more fine tuning; admittedly, the main story is still rather bland. But now that the CK is out and modders can work their magic this game is the bomb!

The toxic culture of gaming and our social media obsessed society in general wants to make us feel bad for expressing our opinions if they are not "popular", like somehow it's lame to love a game that "everyone" hates. I love a lot of unpopular games and I'd never for a moment feel embarrassed about that. The only thing that breaks the game for me is leaving and landing on the planets, vehicles and flying in space . I wish it was more like no man's sky in that sense
If it were like no man’s sky or elite dangerous, it would have to be a story-light sandbox-type game. Fortunately, it is not.
It is a mystery although I think a lot of people claim hours that they didn't actually play.
Well if you only played crap games then you wont know any better
@@R.a.f.a.e.l. That was my experience with Cyberpunk too lol. Glad to see there are like-minded gamers out there
@@yesteryearr Rushing into NG+ was something I was told to avoid through a video by CohhCarnage back at launch and I’m glad I listened lol.
Takes stones to say something positive about this game online. I respect it. Glad you enjoyed it!
Always!
And cue the heel face turn lmao
I think we're going to see more and more reviews like this. But yeah, I've loved Starfield since it released.
Can't blame them when I admit in the video I had the same reaction 🤣
I just started playing it and I’m actually enjoying it quite a bit. It’s not perfect by any means, but I like it enough to solely focus on it
Been through the Unity 24 times, presently at level 242. Still loving the gameplay. Waiting patiently for Shattered Space DLC. The people that can't stand for others to have their own opinions are the trolls here, Melvin.
Hahah well said
Wow I haven't even thought about the fact you can keep going through past 10 times.
Plus I wanna talk to someone that's beat the record just to find out if anything at all happens for doing it even if it's something small. but don't wanna know exactly what happens, just whether or not something at all does.
beautiful game, i absolutely loved every second of it. i genuinely dont understand the hate
@@TahmidHO What, what would does anything I said have to do with an older engine?
@@Dennis-nc3vw My bad I interpreted what you said as a lack of NPCs in the world.
I dont think they were trying to go with the apocalyptic scenario, cuz thats already what Fallout is about. This is supposed to be a sci-fi universe. Its their 3rd universe created. You have Elder Scrolls Uni, Fallout Uni, and now Starfields Uni.
@@LxrdGhxulProductions That's my point, they weren't trying to do it, but that's how it came out.

Same here. I love Starfield, even with its flaws.
Like a mother that loves her retarded child...
I’d go further and say I disagree with most of the flaws
Funnily I had the same experience as you did. Tried it, didn’t like it, put it aside and forgot about it until I watched a video. Tried it again and suddenly fell in love. It’s far from perfect but I had a lot of fun in this game in the end!
Thanks for sharing!
@@qinlongfei Fallout 4 was more fun w/o ever playing the main quest as long as you had fun mods.
@@chilbiyito I actually agree with you, sanitized is the better word choice.

I feel like they could just add some dynamic events and really make some sort of weather system. Play tornadoes, better storms, it would be so much better

I downloaded a mod which just slightly increases how often the weather changes. Already an improvement. But yeah, proper storms, tornados, blizzards, volcanos?!
@@skyriminspace yeah I really wish they would revamp the weather. It's so needed.
Love the game as well. Agreed hands down to your synopsis.
That's amazing!!

So skew it more as a hard-core mode?
@@MikeJones-mf2fwyeah just like fo4's survival difficulty. Depending on the enemy type it can just be a question of who shoots first wins!

Good video!

the beauty of the story of new vegas is that you complete it by doing basically a bunch of side quests for certain factions instead of just following a main quest
Someone forming their own opinion? In 2024? Cool.
Like most Bethesda open world games I've played, I don't think its an excellent game, but I think there is genuine enjoyment to be had.

I got Starfield off game pass and I put in over 200 hours and I have had fun. There’s things that could be better for sure but I agree it’s a good game. Personally I found it way more enjoyable than fallout and Skyrim but I think it just depends what you’re interested in.
The game is fine, not Bethesda's best but their games tend to get better as time goes on. The hate is way too overblown
Agreed. Not Bethesda's best but it's still pretty freaking awesome. Still I am partial to fallout 4.

Thanks for sharing, glad you enjoyed!

@@jamin12342 Whenever someone leaves a comment like this it always reaffirms my position it's people who have never played the game and just regurgitate whatever bullshit they read online. I have never heard one concrete example, yet those who speak highly of the game always have loads of examples.

I think that’s one of the best reviews I’ve seen for Starfield. You hit every point right on the head.

I did a whole Bethesda run from morrowind fallout to Skyrim. Went back to Starfield and I understand it now. It is a good game
I love Starfield. Home run in my book. Have over 500 hours in it
These are the types of reviews I enjoy.
I agree. There are some more immersion tweaks that the game needs tbh. It would really round out the experience.

What's wrong with fextralife 🥲
@@TahmidHO He literally bots views on Twitch.

It’s a video game about space exploration .
There’s plenty to explore but aLOT of outer space (sad to say) is empty . It’s just a game , a very beautiful game with some great gunplay , excellent customization, a decent story and it’s just a comfy experience .

Still playing this game tbh lol sorry to all the people that didnt like it... 😢
I've been in it since early release, about 1200 hrs so far. Mod baby mod. Like a commenter on another video that said Starfield is going to become our Skyrim where you fire up Starfield to play your mods, I am there. I'm deep into the Darkstar mods. Simply satisfying.
The best part was the end of the main quest, because of how they reward you (no spoilers!).
almost finished with the main story!
@@TahmidHO It was a nice surprise, but in hindsight Starfield has arguably one of the weakest main quests in their games yet. Too repetitive, even though eventually there is a twist. But only after playing for quite a few hours.

I wouldnt go that far but I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@TahmidHO I'm a skyrim fan from launch on multiple systems,i rememberthe hate that game receivedfrom launch, this game will only get better ,but yes it's only my opinion
starfield is not great, it’s not bad. starfield is starfield. it’s exactly how a game made by bethesda ultimately would be. that’s really it.
Except missing everything that bethesda was famous for. Handcrafted worlds that are fun to explore? Nope. Immersive worldbuilding? Nope.

@@TahmidHO nah thank you for the content.
About time this game gets a love review this game is fantastic and I love it
Lots of others I am not definitely not the first, its just the fact that hating is more popular so a lot of people play the game with their minds made up to begin with.
And honestly having that mindset has really helped me
I’m enjoying the game more. Now I go and survey planets, do missions, but resource farms, bases. It’s genuinely a fun game. Not perfect by any means but a fun game. Before mods my rating was 5.3/10. Now it’s a 6.8-7/10

Its a great game. I very much enjoyed the first play through.
The glitches during some missions sucked tho an the side quests were pretty cool.
Ship building is fun once youre high enough leveled up

Ohh that's fun I hadn't heard that before. Thanks for sharing.
@@TahmidHO of course!
I want to get back into Starfield. A lot of beautiful planets to explore... I just wish Bethesda wasn't so incompetent when it comes to writing.

Player numbers suggest it was largely disliked
I think because it was supposed to be the next Skyrim and had the same time and budget as Red Dead Redemption 2.
Now Bethesda offers a game to scratch all 3 for me.
haha Skyrim sold more than starfield over the holidays and Skyrim currently has double the live players. Starfield isn't replacing anything.
@numberonedad been playing skyrim since launch, starfield is the first game to keep me from going back to skyrim. So yeah starfield has replaced skyrim for me. Now when elder scrolls 6 comes it will most likely replace all other BGS games for me.
What song did you use for the video? it's fire!
The Neon background song
Good to see someone else enjoy the game and not afraid to say so
Honestly, I assumed pretty early on that my problem with the game is exactly that it's the quintessential Bethesda game, which I enjoyed up until around like 2016 but eventually I just grew bored of it, open worlds games just don't do it for me anymore.

Here's my experience in maybe 12 hours:
Try to lockpick door, it needs a key.
