    I'm repotting my monstera Thai constellation that was grown from a node! This plant is the same one I did as my first upload! This is the second time I'm repotting it due to finding slime mold in the soil.

    I started with a tiny one leaf seedling when Thais first came to Australia, now my Thai is huge. Over a metre tall with huge leaves. I'm so proud of him.

    if you're leaving mosquito bits in the soil, that's probably what's causing the mold.

      Thanks! I'll like the table this way for a change. I like the other way too since the light from the window is good but sometimes the ikea cabinet behind me appears really bright and my ring light reflecting in it bothered me lol.

    I've seen people spray the roots down with hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. Maybe that will help ? They take the plant out and clean all the dirt off the roots. They give the roots a good spray with hydrogen peroxide. Before replanting. They didn't water down the peroxide either.

    I can’t help but admire the Monstera theme of this video. Monstera work mat, master Monstera Plantologist and, of course, a Monstera plant. What could be better, lol. Seriously I think the plant is very beautiful. Yesterday I repotted a large aglaonema that is one of my first plants and the soil was disgustingly contaminated with fungus and mold. I’m amazed it survived. It has a great growing environment now thanks largely to your instruction. I swear it was smiling at me his morning! Thanks

    It could be poor aeration also. Get better air flow around the base of the plant maybe ?

    Are you sure that is a bad fungus? Or could it be the mycorrhiza fungi??? If it is that then it is beneficial as you are adding the fungi into your pots?

    If you’ve had it in the first place and the this is the second time why not do the fifty -fifty mix of water and hydrogen peroxide to insure it won’t come back a third time. It would be a safer way to protect it.

      I probably should have but I guess I didn't feel like it haha. I think the soil wasn't getting enough airflow. Messing with Thai roots scares me! I think I'm traumatized by the first Thai that died 🙃

    Hi Mel
    I need your thoughts on this. I have won a giveaway and seller is asking ne to take a P. Melanochrysm (rooted with 2 leaves) or a monstera aurea cutting fenestrated with less vareiagtions. Please help me to pick one

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  2 роки тому

      Are you sure it's a Monstera Aurea? Is it a delicosa or a standleyana? - that would be more comparable in price. Melano's are a bit more difficult imo as well. If you love velvety philos and want a challenging plant lol then go with a melano. The standleyanas are slower growers but if you love variegated plants and that yellow then go with that one :) It's easier too!

      It's monstera deliciosa aurea . I know Melano need more humidity I don't have cabinet or humidifier. Hopefully one day I will be able to own one. I do love velvety leaves but I think I can't afford its thriving conditions. I can share pic of aurea in instagram💚. Thank you so much once again

    How tall are your acrylic poles? I found some and saved them but I think they were o my one foot. I think I’m gonna need something taller.

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  2 роки тому +1

      They're not very tall, I would say probably a foot at most! They're definitely not ideal for long term! I get green garden stakes at my local hardware store and use those too and they can be 2-6 feet tall ☺️
