Bought mine 3 weeks ago with 65 cm leaves. I think they sold it cheaper because the leaves where a bit damaged, but I saw that the stem where 6,5 thick and hearing it was so much work to get huge leaves I thought I give this one a go, even if I had to start all over again with no blemish leaves, by cutting the top new leaf with the thick stem.
Thank you!! I talked about it in random plant chore videos and shown some of it but not a separate video yet. I could definitely do a video on it though! 🫶
I remember the rot because i was going thru the same thing with the same product. Live and learn i guess . We both got thru it so that's all the matters now. Thank you for sharing
I just bought a small Thai constellation today at our local Kroger grocery store. It was perfect timing to watch your video. I'm hoping mine will grow into a beauty one day like yours!
Wow, another display of unmatched plant pulchritude! I never tire of seeing your amazing plants and learning from your educational discussions. Awesome. You seem so busy yet somehow you manage to find time to travel to Pandora to bring back otherworldly plant specimens. I don’t know how you do it all. Are you descended from Charles Darwin by any chance? lol. More seriously thanks for another fun video.
Love your videos! I always find them super helpful and learn so much from you to help my babies thrive. I ordered my first Thai and it comes in today so the timing of this video couldn’t have been more perfect :)
I love your videos! I’m a recent plant newbie and want to continue growing my collection, your videos are so helpful and you’re so knowledgeable from your plant experiences! Hope to purchase from your shop soon! 🥰🪴
Thank you so much!! 🥹 I'm so happy you found plants! They bring so much joy and it's rewarding growing a collection and caring for them. I'm happy I have helped! 🤗
She is so beautiful!!! I just got mine yesterday. Woohoo!! She stands 12" tall, has about 6 leaves on her. Some are already fenestrations on them. I got a really really good deal from a nursery about an hour away from me. I'm so excited to see her grow 💖🌿😁.
yay!! congratulations!! She sounds beautiful! 😍 Lift the plant up out of the nursery pot and peek at the root system if you haven't just to be certain they're good. I still get sad remembering the rot on my first one I got from a nursery 🥲
Love that your thai got a spotlight video ❤ people aren't talking about them as much lately but they are beautiful! Mine just got her second leaf with fenestration. Im sure you must have it in a video but how do you keep the white parts white? All of my other variegated olants are fine but my thai gets brown spots
Glad I could share this one 🥰 I think the big new leaf made me really appreciate how far of a journey it's been on with me 🥹 I find most browning is caused by possibly a watering inconsistency where they take up too much water at once, lower light or a root health issue. Sometimes it just happens with being a white leaf though so it might not be anything you're doing. My monsteras started to brown when they got root rot. Since that has been corrected I don't see a lot of browning anymore.
Oooof, I missed out this time, too! Got some tree fern fiber just now, though ... been wanting to try it for awhile. I can't get over how thoroughly you designed your website, Melissa: so clear and easy to navigate.
My older video is with "fox farm soil" so I don't use that anymore or any peat moss. It's kinda the same mix when I potted my aurea up in a video but I did change it again recently lol. Now I make a soil free mix that contains bark, pumice, lava rock (for weight), h. charcoal (less than 10%), vermiculite, coconut husk chips and tree fern. It doesn't have any additional nutrients so I fertilize right away.
@@plantsbymelissa omg oh no I just picked up Fox farm from the garden center yesterday 😭 any reason why you stopped or just expirementing? And thank you for the recipe ❤️
It's a good bagged soil with nutrients and I loved it for a while but I wanted to move away from peat moss :( It's not sustainably harvested and really wanted a soilless mix that was a lot more aerated especially for my moss poles.
So exciting! She is so adorable ❤. My Aurea wasn’t a node but it’s a tiny plantlet. I love growing from little babies as well. Your second Thai with the photo is the size of my other baby type constellation ❤
I use a weak nutrient solution every time I water, with general hydroponics diamond nectar, armor-si and Cal-Mag, she seems to be loving it! I hear really good things about Fluval as a soil ammendment, so I cant wait to repot her in my improved substrate mix 🥰
I'll have to do an updated soil mix video here 🫶 I sold a couple bags on my site about 1 lb but I need to purchase more quantities of my substrates before I sell more :)
I’ve started using silica in all my plants lately and they definitely appreciate it. There is new growth popping out everywhere. I’m Curious how often you use it.?
I feel like some of my plants seem happier since using it. It's either that or the nutrient change. I'm actually using it with every watering unless I have some water without it already made up then I just use that so I would say weekly!
@@plantsbymelissa ok nice! I wasn’t sure if every other week was too much. I try to dilute it sometimes. So I’ve definitely noticed my Hoyas like it the best I’ve seen new growth on almost every one even my super slow growers. I was so very skeptical about it at first but I now really like using it.
hey there! im propagating a monstera deliciosa cutting in water but the roots, water, and glass keep turning green so fast! why is this and do you know a way of stopping it? i clean out the water at least once a week probably twice, thank you!!
I just got a five dollar (!!) tc Thai Con and it's in sphag and perlite. How did you know when to transition it to your soil mix? I really want to do right by this bb!!
$5?!? whoaa what a deal!! If you don't have much of a root system yet I would let it develop and grow more. My mint TC I upsized slightly to a 3 inch then a 4 inch once it got more rooted. You'll have to closely monitor your watering with tiny pots but I would make sure it can get some good light as well. Good luck with it!!
I switched to completely using beneficial insects now. I use nematodes for soil and then predatory mites for the leaves. You can use minute pirate bugs as well. cucumeries mites can actually tell when larvae are inside of the leaf tissue so they wait until they emerge and they attack them lol
Just sell it. When I can’t give one of my plants ideal light anymore I know it’s time to give her to someone who can. I think that’s the best for the plant. Its hard but...
I will make room for my Thai lol. I could always try and prop in the future but monsteras are my fav so I would definitely regret not having one at all. I get super attached to them :)
seeing my fav planty UA-camr post a vid abt Thai constellation after buying my first Thai constellation less than an hour ago 😭🌱💕 love
aww yay!! Thank you 🥹 congrats on your first Thai Constellation!! 🥳🙌 Wishing you the best with it!! 🥰

We need to live in a green house so we don’t have to worry about windows. 😂
😂 yes! that would be a dream lol 🙌
monstera devil monster is my dream plant..
Just bought two from Kroger this morning $29.99 a piece I’m so excited 🎉🪴🪴

I have my Thai growing up a stake and I really like it !
2:12 im so glad the price has come down because i was able to get a tissue culture for $20 just the other day fingers crossed for that little one
Gorgeous Thai !!! I have a small one now that I recently bought. I’m working on getting her leaves to be that big and beautiful!! Fingers crossed!! 🥰

It is very rewarding ❤❤. Thank you 😊
your thais growth pattern is so different than mine! its still a baby but it really looks like it wants to climb!

All my monsteras are in porcelain pots but are still really wobbly... Let us know when you do a repot and if rectangular planters work!
And now they're $40 at Walmart. It's crazy! But I found a reeeeally nice one today with a bunch of grey on it
Hey,,look at behind you..Ikea Cabinet 👍
But,im late wtching for this.
Thank for monstera thai
Do you have a video on how you make your water?
Ooo can you try the pot by pot to allow the Thai to crawl to that pot and root and then do a chop video!!!!
oh cool, never thought of doing that! I don't think I want to chop her though 🥲
Can you do a video on the new mix you use? Seen a lot of videos but you mix looks so Bomb!! Wish you sold some lol

Hi Melissa, I love your videos. You mentioned that your Monstera are in a south window does that mean they get direct sun? Thanks.
Thank you so much, Lisa! Yes, sun does land on the leaves about a foot back from the window. Inside through the window isn't too harsh for them.
So sad, I had to work late and missed again on the sale. Maybe next time.
Next time! 🥲🤗
