    I was about to purchase the entire fill valve when I came across this video! It’s fixed, THANKS! Didn’t see much dirt in the seal but I guess just taking it appart and rinsing was enough to get it working again.

    Very helpful video! I had to order the entire valve assembly off Amazon. Only $19.95. Just used the very top piece of the assembly like shown in the video. Worked perfectly. Toilet is no longer running. No plumber needed is always a great thing.

      That’s exactly what I did. I didn’t wanna have to take everything apart, so I just pulled that part off and put it on the old one.

    THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! . Toilet is only a year old. It didn't seem dirty, but took it apart, wiped it off and it is now wonderfully silent! Great job explaining this. You just saved me the cost of an expensive repair.

      I bought a similar toilet 5 years ago. The same thing happened within the first year and 5 years later.
      Same little crud appeared. Just a reminder to people that you could see again. :)
      Thanks for posting!

    PERFECT!!! 2-year old valve was whistling. Took apart following your directions and cleaned out gasket and top of valve with a tooth brush. No more whistle! Thank you!

    Mine ran for a month without me noticing (young and uneducated about these kinds of things) resulting in a $600 water bill. Figured out, with the help of a buddy that this is my issue, thank you for showing how to fix it!

    Thanks! Just noticed mine running even though the float was all the way up. Took it off and cleaned it and reseated it and it worked again. My guess is a replacement isn't far off. One interesting thing - even though I turned my water off at the wall, I still had significant water coming out of it, so I guess the valve at the wall needs to be fixed, too!

    Thank you! My valve wasn't seating properly and I could see that the top assembly was clearly meant to be removable... but rotating to release it wasn't obvious. Mine had a 1mm-ish chunk of sediment stuck in the valve, but no damage. Quick, easy, and free fix.

    THANK YOU! Following your nice clear instructions, I cleaned the little rubber whatsis pretty thoroughly. Or so I thought. But when reassembled, the toilet was still flowing as before. I took the rubber gizmo off again and REALLY toothbrushed and wiped it again, every crack and cranny, and it worked! Combination of scale and slime and sediment.

    Your video was terrific. My problem was that it was not filling after a flush . . After removing the rubber seal , cleaning and reassembling it filled perfectly. Thank you for the excellent video.

    I have a brand new Kholer Highline Arc. I had a plumber come out and replace the shut-off valve to the toilet because it was leaking; ever since he came out, my toilet has been running nonstop. I saw this plumber mess with the screw on the float. I wasn't quite sure why and I got distracted and didn't ask him why. I had to call that plumbing company out again because I couldn't figure out why it was constantly running. He came out and said the tube from the float to the overflow was pinched. He pulled it off, cleaned it out, cleaned the disc (mind you, this toilet is less than a week old and didn't need to be cleaned), and put it back together. Flushed it several times and it wasn't running. I watched him do this and it did stop running. So of course, my luck, I flushed it a couple hours after he left and it's running again and I just can't figure it out. So now he has to come back out again and I have to keep taking time off of work so they can fix it and it's just really bothering me. I tried messing with the float and it doesn't matter where it's at, it just runs non stop.

    I have a leak at the bottom of the right side fixture. I checked yellow seal at bottom, but it was perfectly intact. When I look inside I can see water coming in the bottom of fixture/part.
    Any idea(s)?

    • @hoohoohoblin
      @hoohoohoblin  4 місяці тому +1

      I don’t know. It’s hard to diagnose without seeing it. The whole part is reasonably affordable, so maybe replacing the whole thing is the way to go.

    How about just turning the adjustment screw (vertical plastics rod) so water level matches the fill line! If too high the water may be continuously cascading over the column. Fixed my issue. No need to purchase parts.

  • @manw3bttcks
    @manw3bttcks 9 місяців тому

    A lot of the comments seem to be about "seal fix not working", you might be trying to fix a symptom and not the cause.
    If the gasket at the bottom of the tanking is leaking, the valve might be correctly trying to fill the tank because the gasket is leaking away water into the bowl constantly. So in that case you'd need to fix the O ring gasket down at the bottom of the tank. One way to diagnose that is do you hear constant dripping inside the toilet? Also, if you pull up slightly on the valve arm (do not push too hard) does the valve stop the water from running? If that's a 'yes' then the seal valve is working correctly.

    I wish cleaning/replacing the fill valve worked for me. Mine turned out to have an actual leak internally in the shank assembly and I had to replace the whole thing. I don't think any of these videos have suggested the leak can be before the fill valve at the top. Anyway, no more hisssss!

    Tiny bits of gravel get inside there and clog up the blue seal and it will run constantly. Look closely when you open up, the blue seal inside needs to be perfectly clean.

  • @manw3bttcks
    @manw3bttcks 9 місяців тому

    At 0:05 that's not the Model number, that's the serial number. Kohler is maddening to me that they have the serial number (which is mostly useless) well written on the back of the tank but the model number is much harder to find. The model number is pressed into the porcelain at the left rear of the tank and the model number is what you need to find the correct parts. The serial number can only be used to find the model number by using a Kohler lookup website that used to exist but I can't seem to find it any more.

    After several tries, including taking apart the large Aqua Piston Seal on the right, cleaning and reseating it, thanks to the downloadable manual from the scan code, saying just to clean it, the system stopped filling and is now working. ua-cam.com/video/w6vnJNKwVnQ/v-deo.html There was not much visible gunk on either item. I took off the yellow seal at the bottom of the large pistion (to which the flush handle is connected (quite challenging), and reseated the ring on the black cylinder.
