I am so thankful for this video. I ordered the valve kit and the included instructions say to remove the whole tank and all. 10 minutes for this video saved me an hour of unnecessary effort and my toilet is now fixed.
A big Thank you. With your instruction I was able as an 82-year-old female to replace the canister easily saving bunches of money if I would have to call a plumber.❤
Excellent! Watched the video, took three deep breaths, rehearsed on the $22 replacement, took off the canister, cleaned the gasket, replaced the canister, turned on the water, flushed the toilet and it worked like a champ in less than 60 seconds! Thank you so much!
Nice work! I’m very happy that it worked for you. I have another video coming out in the very near future that will go over many other problems that you can have with your toilet that you can fix without any tools and it very low cost. thank you for watching and thank you for the comment.
This video saved me a visit from the plumber and a hefty bill! Can't thank you enough for helping replace the aquapiston in my Kohler Memoirs toilet in 2 minutes! Really great help!
Super helpful. This was my first encounter with a Kohler canister valve and had no idea where to start. Your video allowed me to make a quick repair. Thank you!
I fixed my toilet thanks to this video! You saved me hours of time and potentially hundreds of dollars as I didn’t have to take apart the tank to replace this part. THANK YOU!
I've been wondering if I'd need to call someone to take care of this for me and I'm so glad to see I can do it myself. And understanding where to find the model number is so valuable as well. Thank you!
Thank you for the video! The canister in my Kohler looks a bit different, but had the exact same problem with the top bit breaking off. Your explanation and demonstration of the fix were perfect! So glad I didn't have to replace the whole thing.
Excellent video. I just had 2 new Kohler toilets installed and on one of them, the canister was hitting the tube on each flush. However, I rotated the entire fill valve body so that the water outlet spout was facing directly to the canister (3 o’clock position) and that solved the issue. This gave the hose a bit more slack and allowed it to arc higher above the canister thus no more contact. The outlet on the fill valve was at around the 2 o’clock position originally. The other toilet was already set this way and was fine. My guess is that this is just a variance in assembly at the factory.
Thank you so much! I didn’t have to replace anything, but just being able to take everything apart and reinstall it did the trick. This was easy to follow and understand. Thanks again!
Thank you, this was precisely the information I needed in order to repair a broken tubing tip! Very well explained and appreciate the explanation on the design flaw that causes the tip to break. Kudos to you!
Thanks for the heads up. I just got a Kohler toilet with this exact flush valve. I'm gonna try to move that fill pipe a little bit away from the canister so it doesn't break off that barbed piece. Thanks for the video.
I saw another video that showed how to install the flush valve but, when I actually got my product delivered (I ordered it online from Home Depot), it had a different base than the one in the video. And, when I read the directions on my replacement product, they would have had me removing the tank to install a new base for the flush valve. So, I searched for that original video to watch it again and your video also came up in the list. Your title, "How To Fix a Kohler Canister Flush Valve In 60 Seconds" caught my eye. Thank God I watched it and realized that I didn't even need the new base. I kept the old base and just switched out the top. This may be the BEST video I ever watched on UA-cam. Thank you!
You are right; you shouldn't replace that lower end unless you are having issues with it like water continuing to run into the bowl. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Your explanation of operation was excellent. The problem I found was a build-up of lime /scale in the yellow disc that was not allowing the bowl to refill properly.
Thanks for the video, very insightful. This is the exact issue I’m dealing with. I’m a beginner when it comes to fixing toilets, but I would assume that the professionals prefer flapper over canister flush systems.
That is fantastic, my goal is to teach others how to DIY for that sense of accomplishment and to be able to save money at the same time. You and others like you are why I do what I do. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching and the comment. Be sure you check out the latest video. It shows a lot of tips and tricks on how to keep your toilet running smoothly and it has some cool stuff about the canister in it as well. A cheaper part that you can get now on that same unit.
Detailed, informative presentation. Key elements reinforced via repetition, nice touch. Speed just right for comprehension, able to listen and relate words to the video, without rewinding to replay as one often must do in many such videos.
THANK YOU for this video!! You saved me a lot of time and anxiety from not having to take the back of the toilet off and remove the whole canister!! Loved that it was a quick fix with just a $7 seal.
Thank you so much for this - this turned a massive project where I thought I had to deconstruct the tank from the bowl to replace the flush valve, to a fix in a matter of a couple of minutes. I am grateful!!
Hey I just want to thank you so much! Our toilet broke and I sent this video to my boyfriend at work and he watched it and stopped at Lowe’s on the way home and it only took him a minute to fix it. You explained it so well!! Awesome
Thanks, great video. My problem with this canister is slightly different... i feel like the canister falls too fast and i get weak flushes. If i hold the handled down a little longer no problem... ideas?
The only real adjustment that might help that is adjusting your fill valve so that the waterline comes all the way up to the top of the canister. If that doesn’t work, you may consider just replacing the canister all together and see if that solves the issue
@UltimateDiyer this is the problem I'm having too. Is the middle of the canister supposed to be full of water? The way ir seems from your explanation in the video is that the center of the canister is full of water and that's a what slows its closing? Or did I misunderstand that? Thanks!
Awesome video ! I adjusted my toilet valve and flushed my toilet about a dozen times until I watched your video ! Now my toilet flushes like new ! I Appreciate the video. Thank you
Ahhhhhh … I wish I’d thought to look here BEFORE I “repaired” my toilet! However, I’m glad I found you before I repair it for the third time!!! I used “regular” replacement parts from Home Depot … and it still doesn’t work!! Sooo frustrating, especially when I’ve repaired at least three dozen toilets with no problem! What a pain, but thanks to you, I’m going to order the right thing … and likely replace more than I needed to! THANK YOU!
Thanks for the video! First time I took the lid off the tank and saw that yellow disk I said a few choice words and put the lid back on. Your instructions were super helpful!!
Thanks so much for this video. You saved me LOTS of time because the installation instructions for this part involve many unnecessary and time consuming steps. It really did take 60 seconds and I am so appreciative 🙂
That is fantastic that it made it easier on you, that’s the whole reason. I try to make the videos and I’m hopefully getting better at it every day. Thank you for watching and thank you for the nice comment.
Thank you so much for this video!! I purchased the part from Home Depot and replaced the broken upper portion of the flush valve (the part you said breaks easily was broken on ours) in less than 5 minutes!!! It was super easy and no plumber is needed for this repair! I found our model number for all parts in a sticker placed on the underside of the lid.
Good presentation. Showing the connection method between the removable part and the piece that stays in place reinforces the "twist" needed to get those pieces apart.
I want to thank YOU for the great easy tip to change out the cannister.. I had bought all new parts for the 3 Kohler toilets after 2 started leaking from the seal.. after watching your video I only had to change out the cannister the easy way and problems solved ! Too bad KOHLER cant make a better seal!!!
Finally a guy that shows the detail of the pieces and the quick repair and replace methods. Nice video , appreciate the close-ups of the two piece unit. Nice thanks.. if you take a rubber hose that is a little longer , coil it near the canister connection - much like a service loop in electrical wiring , lightly zip tie it that way so the coil flexes - it might fix that issue pr prolong the inevitable. I saw someone disassemble the yellow cap , there is probably a nifty way to do that - but they showed no closeups.
Awesome ideas, I have a short video coming out this week that shows the disassembly of the yellow disk. They have released a replacement part to fix the issue now. It is supposed to be stronger. The disk unscrews just like the main unit think medication bottle. Thanks for watching and the great insight.
Sir, I cannot thank you enough. Divorced single woman who has been putting this off for months. took me longer to disconnect the chain than to install the canister. Thank you! $22 for part and plumber wanted $200 for trip..without parts/labor. Thank you!
Thanks! I thought I had to order some replacement parts and all I needed to do was reattach the little pole and turn clockwise! This was so helpful and easy to understand! :-)
I have replaced the Fill Valve (with a FluidMaster 400H - off the shelf at the orange Big Box store) - because it seemed the float would stick (the float moves up and down on the shaft of the Fill Valve - it is not the "ball on an arm" type). After watching this video, I now know the Cannister type Flapper Valve could be part of the problem (it is not a new toilet; but I don't know how old it is - at least five years, anyway). I think the advantage of the 400H might be the ability to adjust the amount of water that goes into the Bowl - the Fill Valve I am replacing had no such adjustment. Great Video!
@@UltimateDiyerProject complete. And it worked!!! Strange thing. We just had the toilet installed, and it started running immediately. Replacing the unit on the left changed nothing. I even switched out all of the little valves. But replacing the canister, as you suggested in this video, did the trick. Thanks again Man.
Thanks for the great video. It took me more than a minute, but my Kohler toilet is working like new. I especially appreciated your advice about not need to remove the top piece as mine seemed stuck and I did not want to risk breaking it.
That fantastic, I'm glad it helped you. I install these a lot and they look scary until you actually replace one. Thank you for watching and I really appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment.
Excellent Video. Although you cannot purchase the yellow cap individually, you can purchase the cap, center guide (stem), and chain rebuild kit for the canister. Kohler gp1229656 canister repair kit. @@UltimateDiyer
The yellow cap on top broke on my unit. The piece that secures it to the canister snapped off. Thanks for the video to let me know what i was getting into.
Why do you even need to yellow disc on top? Won’t it just break again? Is there an alternative solution for the fill hose other than hooking it to a new yellow disc?
Thank you Steve for the super thanks, it’s greatly appreciated! So first if the hose keeps popping off, I would replace it with a new hose. I’m assuming the plastic nipple is not broken off . You can get the hose at Home Depot, simply by taking the one off of the unit and matching it, but make sure that the new hose is a little bit longer so the flush arm doesn’t hit it. The new hose will be more flexible. I have even used a small steel s hook attached to the rear of the tank to hold the hose back. The noise could be coming from the hose coming loose and squealing or the part itself could be defective. I’m not sure if you fully replaced that part or you’re asking me if it needs to be replaced if it’s making a lot of noise I would probably just replace it. But before you do that remove the tank lid and flush the toilet. A lot of the time the squealing noise is coming from the fill valve, not the flush canister. If that’s the case replace the fill valve or the small gasket inside the valve. I have a video showing you how to do both on my channel. Hope this helps, let me know how it works out. Thank you again appreciate you watching.
@@UltimateDiyer Thank you! The hose seems ok. It was the yellow nipple that was broken. I replaced the canister in less time than it took me to watch your video!!! Totally fantastic!! You are the 1st person on UA-cam that I have thanked. And I've had to do a lot of DIY lately. Thanks again.
Thank you! We’re new homeowners and neither my husband nor I were taught how to be handy around the house. We’ve spent a lot on hiring plumbers and carpenters and electricians, but are feeling like we should learn some basics to save money. But who can we learn from? Well, this video helped us a ton! $25 fix and who knows how much more it would have cost us had we called the plumber. I have subscribed! Thanks so much! Next up…do you have a video on how to re-attach a faucet handle that’s fallen off? It’s a kitchen sink handle that sits on the side of the faucet.
I am happy the video helped you and that you subscribed. I haven’t fixed a handle in a while mainly because there are so many different models and usually by the time they get bad the customer wants an all new one. But I will definitely upload the next one that I do. Most of the time it’s a small rubber seal that needs replacing but you may need a special tool to get to it. Some are easy and some are not depending on its age.
Glad it helped! Be sure you watch the last video that I just put out it has a part that will fix that unit even cheaper. Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment.
The toilet wouldn’t flush at all. I used another video to figure out that I needed to test the water pressure. Somehow the water valve had been turned way down.
Thanks for the help. My problem was with the yellow disk but it appears to be an installer induced failure. The installer apparently removed the two locking protuberances on the stem of the disk. I see no way it could be normal wear. After 6 years, the disk began shooting off whenever the toilet was flushed. Your video walked me through the disassembly and installation of a new repair kit. I was having no success finding the repair part until you said that I needed to get the model number off the tank. Thanks again.
Great video! When I run the water hose to the barb the toilet runs non-stop. Bought another one and it does the same thing. But if I put hose outside the tube the toilet will fill and work fine
It sounds like the seal at the bottom of the canister is leaking. I talk about the seal in this video. ua-cam.com/video/h4UCiQLQaZA/v-deo.htmlsi=4IERcw9glalnpEh1
The whole yellow disc came off the tube underneath of it on mine. The rubber hose is still connected. But every time I flush that whole disc lifts up and starts spraying to the side. I can see where the previous homeowner tried to glue it back in. It worked for a few years though. I think I'll just replace mine lol
Good morning, great video. Question? My Kohler like your example seems to have problems. Everything seems to be working however the toilet doesn’t flush it fills the bowl with water and doesn’t flush. Used a snake, wide open. The toilet on the other side of wall back to back works great. Could it be the top valve u mentioned? The bottom seal has been changed and seals the tank fine. After sitting the bowl does drain down to normal. Help please..
It’s hard to diagnose without see it in action but if the bowl is filling it sounds like maybe the flush valve isn’t allowing enough water to enter or the fill valve is functioning correctly. Take the tank lid off and flush and see if the take is emptying completely into the bowl. You should only have a small amount of water in the bottom of the tank.
Also I know you said you have a second toilet backed up to this one, you could have a partial clog in your vent stack that is blocking air to that toilet.
Thank you so much for your reply. I found a blockage under the toilet. The snake couldn’t reach it. Used a super plunger for about 10 minutes finally got it loose. Works like a champ now. Keep up the great videos…..
This is a great video and I am thrilled that I found your channel. When I asked Kohler about my issue they recommended I purchase GP1059291 seal and 1374724 washer. You didn't mention the washer in your video. Where is it and does it need to be replaced? Thanks again and enjoy your coffee.
That is the washer that is located between the part that stays in the tank when you remove the canister like I show In the video. You don’t need to pull that part to repair the canister 99 out of 100 times, that’s why I didn’t mention it in the video. As long as it’s not broken it should be left alone. Thank you for watching and commenting
Thank you, this worked. However, a couple of comments. Yes, the new one twisted apart just as you described. The old one took significantly more force to unscrew, especially where it is located. Hands do not work that well down inside the tank. Secondly, it is very hard to reattach the chain if the canister is in place. Conversely, it is very hard to twist in the canister if you have already reattached the chain. Catch-22.
Very good points! I just think I’ve done it so many times and I don’t realize how hard it can be if you’re not used to doing it. Thank you for watching and thank you for the comments.
This makes sense. My case,I flush the handle down, drum raises and immediatly drum drops, leaves half the water in the tank, and toilet doesn't flush. I have to hold down handle till tank completely empties, and then it will flush. Replace drum?
I have had several do that and yes that’s a good option but first make sure the water level is set to the very top of the canister. Also I have seen damaged handles/rods that case poor flushing. Those are simple checks first and then try a new canister. Lastly fill valve can also case weird flush if they are clogging from hard water.
Great video, thank you! My Kohler Cimarron is about nine years old and I can hear it fill intermittently on its own. I remove the lid periodically and the water level in the tank is below the water line on the side of the tank. I got a replacement (the yellow one) gasket and asked a plumber to replace it when he was here for something else. He said it wasn't needed and did something quickly that stopped the filling. Now, about three years later, it's intermittently filling again. I don't know what he did. I do not hear water running, so the leakage is very slight. Is there an adjustment of some sort that he did? It was very quick. Thank you.
@@user-iv5lo8qx4i it sounds like it is the water level, look at the canister not the side of the tank. The water may be just a bit too high and it is going over the top part of the canister. since you’ve had this problem before and he made a quick adjustment that is where I would look first also, there is a gasket at the bottom of the canister that could be starting to leak. but I would start by looking at the water level at the canister, not the side of the tank. Thank you for watching and thank you for the question
Thanks for the help. My problem was with the yellow disk but it appears to be an installer induced failure. The installer apparently apparently removed the two locking protuberances on the stem of the disk. I see no way it could be
thoughts on repairing when the top piece is not damaged/broken? After flushing the canister is stuck in the up position and wont drop down to stop the flushing of water. Any thoughts? Thanks!
When I come across that, it’s usually the canister itself is just wore out and I end up replacing the whole unit with a new one and it solves the issue.
My 2 year old Kohler Santa Rosa already needs a new gasket at bottom. At least I hope that is the problem. It will run a few dozen times a day in between uses. I tried pushing down on that canister thinking the gasket was just not sealing well. Had an older american standard that was replaced by the kohler and the old style flapper valve was not sealing and would run constantly. So this leak is better, but I guess I am heading to the store to get a new gasket.
@@UltimateDiyer my little yellow cap unlocked not the whole shaft. Not sure if design changed or what. But pulled canister and gasket had a bubble in it. Nicked bubble with a knife to let air out and put it back together and not running any more. Not sure how that gasket gets air inside it. How is it not just solid rubber?
Thank you for this vid. Helpful. My problem is. If I flush the toilet the water does not kick on to fill the tank. I've cleaned and flushed the flush valve. I don't believe the float is sticking. However, if I turn the water supply off, and then on, the water rushes into the canister as it should. Perplexing. Any thoughts. Have you encountered this issue? I'm now subscribed to your channel. Much appreciate your coaching.
Thank you for subscribing and watching! Generally when I see that issue it’s in the fill valve not the flush valve. I would rebuild or replace the valve. Both are easy and I have videos showing both. Look under my plumbing playlist.
I’ve only ever known toilet tank assemblies to have a flapper…so when my water level recently started dropping causing the toilet to intermittently refill, I figured it was probably time to replace the flapper. Much to my surprise when I removed the lid of the tank and found a canister assembly I was like what the heck is this…I literally had no idea what to even look up to try and figure out how to fix it cuz I didn’t know what it was called 😂. No thanks in part to my nosy spy phone, I was looking up a video on UA-cam one day, completely unrelated to this topic, and lo and behold, your video randomly popped up! Thank God it did, because in that moment I learned this was called a canister assembly!! I will echo the same comments that so many others already have by saying, this video was incredibly educational, easy to follow and most importantly, beyond helpful! I just finished replacing the yellow gasket to start; will see if that does the trick. If not, I’ll move onto investigating your other suggestions regarding the fill valve and/or the canister replacement. Thank you so so much for putting this video out there and taking the time to so thoroughly explain the inner workings of this assembly. While it isn’t a rocket science assembly, just gaining the knowledge and understanding of all parts and components, how they all function and what their jobs are, is invaluable information for those of us who aren’t plumbers! Don’t get me wrong, there are times when you have to call a plumber, but then there are times like this, when you can find the solution as well as alternative troubleshooting options/ solutions from awesome videos like yours!! For reference, I have a Kohler 5380-CS5-AA tank. Many thanks again for this video!!
Thank you for the detailed comments, and I am happy it has helped you. I know the parts are not expensive and most people just need the knowledge to get started.
@UltimateDiyer You’re very welcome! Yes, it absolutely helped and appears that was the issue after all!! Woo-hoo!! The original flush valve seal had a small tear in it, so I’m assuming that was causing the leak issue. I purchased the replacement seal at HD, and I wanted to note, when I went to put the original seal in the packaging of the new seal, it didn’t fit. The original seal was slightly larger than the replacement. I found that a bit odd, but like I said, it seems to be doing the trick thus far!! Thanks again for the awesome video!!
Thanks. Our downstairs bathroom has a Kohler toilet and the top plastic where the hose connects to the flush valve (#1083980) just broke apart last night: the plastic sheared off. Earlier this morning I "Gorilla-Glued" the pieces as a quick solution, but dang-me the curing time is 24-hours - that is a lot of walking up and back down the stairs for my "Octogenarian Parents". I am planning to run to a couple of plumbing supply stores and see if I can get a replacement part.
I just updated the description with the new part that they have just lowered the price on Amazon that will fix that and I believe you can get that part in a day. Used to you had to buy the entire canister now you can buy just that centerpiece. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.
@@UltimateDiyer Thanks I just returned home from visiting two-(2) local Plumbing Supply Stores, the first was Ferguson's Plumbing - their computer showed that they had the part in inventory, but it was not on the shelf - they could order it, but it would be over a week for arrival on Thursday, April 18, 2024. The second store was WinSupply Plumbing, but they are not a supplier for Kohler Parts. Prior to running my errand I searched the orange big box store's website and you have to order the part too. To my surprise the Gorilla Glue was holding very well, the clerk at the Ferguson's dropped the canister while he was holding, so I reinstalled the flush valve back into the toilet's tank. I don't think flushing the toilet will put more pressure on the glued area than the fall it took when the sales clerk dropped the cannister from his grasp while he was handling it.
Just bought a new house and the toilet is leaking at the junction of the bowl and tank. The toilet has this Kohler canister. Can I change the tank to bowl gasket like I would with a normal plunger set up or does the canister require a unique set up? Thanks
My little yellow “disc” at the top has decided to separate itself from the canister itself. I heard it when I flushed and it came away from the canister stem, but the hose is still connected. They do not sell the yellow disc? Luckily I have the same three toilets in our home…should i just bit e the bullet and replace the whole canister you just demonstrated in your video? GREAT instructions by the way, your instructions were easy to follow.
From the time I put that video out, they have started selling the center yellow disc with the center rod at a much lower price. This is the link to the part on Amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B0170823WC/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_GBY9ZKHHDDM0Z6GB8R1F?linkCode=ml2&tag=ultimatediyer-20
Hi, Im having issues with the water fillling up after each flush. I have to take the back cover off and wiggle the valve for it to kick on and fill it back up. Very frustrating. 😫
You May want to replace the flush valve, I have a video or two showing the process. ua-cam.com/video/yNtvaL4noU8/v-deo.htmlsi=dny0r-U-VE_21MTB ua-cam.com/video/Ae4eJYFUpTI/v-deo.htmlsi=cuVc9qGuspjgFNs1 Look at these 2 videos
Every time I flush mine, the canister gets stuck all the way up, and the water continuously fills and never stops. If I just tap it, it falls down easily
I’ve had different issues. The first think was the piece that goes into stem broke at the bottom. Replaced the unit, but now the yellow top keeps popping off. So frustrating.
Yes, that seems to be an ongoing theme and I’ve had several others mention the same problem but if that plastic piece is popping off, you’re probably going to need replace the whole centerpiece and I believe. So you don’t need the whole canister but the centerpiece you can buy by itself with a new yellow top that is attached. amzn.to/4ddDe09
Also, when you put the new one on replace the hose with a new flexible hose, you can get those at Home Depot or any auto parts store. Just take your old one with you to match it up because of the hose is owed and brittle it can be pulling on that top and breaking it loose.
I am so thankful for this video. I ordered the valve kit and the included instructions say to remove the whole tank and all. 10 minutes for this video saved me an hour of unnecessary effort and my toilet is now fixed.

GREAT teaching 👊🏽
I'd never seen a drum-type model
You explained it perfectly
Thank you
Thank you for the video! The canister in my Kohler looks a bit different, but had the exact same problem with the top bit breaking off. Your explanation and demonstration of the fix were perfect! So glad I didn't have to replace the whole thing.
This gentleman explained the exact common problem I had as clearly as the was standing next to me. Outstanding. I’m subscribed.
Thank you Peter, comments like yours make me want to keep putting out DIY videos, thank you for subscribing and the comment.
Not 82 but am a 73 year old female and I agree your video was a real belssing. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!
I am so glad that it actually worked well for you. That’s why I do what I do. Thank you for watching. And thank you for the awesome comment.
That’s great information, thank you I will check that out.
Best most easily understood presentation. I was frustrated on replacing the gasket on my Kohler toilet until I watched this. Well Done!
Thank you Jerry, I appreciate you watching and I appreciate the comment
Thank you so much! I didn’t have to replace anything, but just being able to take everything apart and reinstall it did the trick. This was easy to follow and understand. Thanks again!

Thank you, this was precisely the information I needed in order to repair a broken tubing tip! Very well explained and appreciate the explanation on the design flaw that causes the tip to break. Kudos to you!
I am very glad it helped. Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment.
Fantastic. Thank you very much for acclimating me to this new style of apparatus...without having to remove the tank. One coffee, coming up.
Thank you I greatly appreciate that, and thank you for watching. I’m happy it helped.
Thanks for the heads up. I just got a Kohler toilet with this exact flush valve. I'm gonna try to move that fill pipe a little bit away from the canister so it doesn't break off that barbed piece. Thanks for the video.
Great idea
Honestly they both work well, this unit just wasn’t designed correctly.
Ahh!! Thank you! As a young woman who was both terrified and determined to tackle this on my own, I literally couldn't have done it without you!!!!
That is fantastic, my goal is to teach others how to DIY for that sense of accomplishment and to be able to save money at the same time. You and others like you are why I do what I do. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Excellent explanation, you saved me time. God bless you on all your projects.❤
Thank you for the excellent feedback. I’m still learning how to create content and have had my struggles. This kind of feedback really helps.
the yellow disk broke off and the replacement was just as you said. easy peasy. Thanks
You’re very welcome. I’m glad that it helped thank you for watching and commenting.
This is the MOST INFORMATIVE video I've ever seen! Toilets working great now!! Thanks!! New subscriber!
Thank You for subscribing and the great comment , I very happy it helped you!
THANK YOU for this video!! You saved me a lot of time and anxiety from not having to take the back of the toilet off and remove the whole canister!! Loved that it was a quick fix with just a $7 seal.
Fantastic, I’m glad it helped! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for such an easy explanation on how to replace the gasket. You're a godsend!
You are welcome. I’m glad it helped. Thank you for watching and thank you for sharing
Excellent! The last video I watched had me removing the tank! I was going to call a plumber.
Oh no, that would be a ton of extra work, thank you for watching and thank you for the compliment
Thank you so much for this - this turned a massive project where I thought I had to deconstruct the tank from the bowl to replace the flush valve, to a fix in a matter of a couple of minutes. I am grateful!!
You’re welcome. I’m happy that it helped you. Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment.
Hey I just want to thank you so much! Our toilet broke and I sent this video to my boyfriend at work and he watched it and stopped at Lowe’s on the way home and it only took him a minute to fix it. You explained it so well!! Awesome
That is fantastic, I’m happy that it helped. Thank you for letting me know that it was helpful.
Thank you
That is fantastic. I am glad that my video helped you. I really appreciate you watching and the awesome comment.!
Awesome!!!still looking for the part to complete the install!
The parts are listed in the video description. I do know they run out at Amazon from time to time.
THANK YOU!
Thank you Craig, I appreciate you watching and the awesome comment. Let me know how it works out.
Thanks for the video! First time I took the lid off the tank and saw that yellow disk I said a few choice words and put the lid back on. Your instructions were super helpful!!
I’m glad it helped you Sharon, thank you for watching and commenting
Timely info. This saved me a bunch of time and tribulations on pulling the tank.
Thanks.
You are very welcome, happy it helped. Thank you for watching and commenting.
That is fantastic. I’m glad that it helped. Thank you so much for watching and the great comment.
Good presentation. Showing the connection method between the removable part and the piece that stays in place reinforces the "twist" needed to get those pieces apart.
Thank you
Bless you sir for making this video! Made my swap exactly what you said it would be and saved me so much time and frustration....THANK YOU!!
You are welcome, I’m glad it helped you. Thanks for watching and commenting.
That’s fantastic, I very happy it helped you. And yes they need to improve their system. It’s definitely an issue. Thank you very much for watching.
Thank You so much for this video! You have no idea how many people you are helping with video! Saved me from calling the plumber!
I’m glad that the helped you. Thank you for watching and taking the time to let me know that what I’m doing is worth while.
Thank you so much. The water was running into the tube. I made the adjustment and the water stopped trickling in the bowl.
You’re very welcome, happy it helped
Thank you so much! You saved me a lot of time or money! ( I even don't know where to get the parts)
You are welcome, thank you for watching and commenting
excellent job on this! Thank you.
Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment
Thank you!
You are very welcome. I am glad that it helped. Thank you for watching and the awesome comment.
Thanks! I thought I had to order some replacement parts and all I needed to do was reattach the little pole and turn clockwise! This was so helpful and easy to understand! :-)
That’s fantastic. I’m glad it helped. I appreciate you watching it and commenting.
Yes, that should help. Thank you for watching and commenting. Let me know how it goes.
Thanks for such a clear, straightforward video. You saved me a ton of time and probably a few bucks as well.
You are very welcome. I’m glad that it helped you. I appreciate you watching and the comment.
Thanks so much for making this video Man. This may solve my problem. I already replaced the other unit on the left side.
I hope it solves your problem and thank you for watching!
Great video. Very helpful and thanks!
I am happy it helped, thank you for watching and the comment.
You’re very welcome. I’m glad that it helped. Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment.
Why do you even need to yellow disc on top? Won’t it just break again? Is there an alternative solution for the fill hose other than hooking it to a new yellow disc?
You explained this excellent!!!
Thank you for watching it. Thank you for the comment.
Thanks! you did a great job explaining this!
You’re very welcome. I’m glad that it helped. Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment.
Thanks!
You are very welcome
Thank You! This was a great help.
Glad it helped! Be sure you watch the last video that I just put out it has a part that will fix that unit even cheaper. Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment.
Thank you, Sir! I didn't fix my problem with your knowledge, but I learned what *wasn't* wrong ... so ... I guess I did!
Well, that’s awesome that you were able to figure it out. By the way what was wrong with yours?
You’re welcome, im glad it helped, thank you for watching and commenting.
OMG! Thank you!! I was really dreading detaching the entire tank like the instructions said
You are very welcome, thank you for watching and commenting.
Yes I would get the new one and be done
This was very helpful. Once I found this video it was so easy . Thanks!
You’re very welcome, Kevin. Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment.
Well done! You are very good at instructional videos. Thanks
Thank you very much, I appreciate you watching and the comment.
That's great news, I thought it sounded like a blockage of some kind. @@tom1397-p7y
Great video. I'd never done valve like this, you made it super easy!
Thank you, my goal was to help other realize that it’s not all that difficult. Thank you for watching and commenting.
The top yellow cap with barb can be rotated another 1/4 counterclockwise to remove and replace.
Great video ,, Very much appreciated!

Thanks Man. I'll find out on Saturday.
You are very welcome, good luck with the repair!
good stuff! thanks for saving me a couple hundred dollars!!!
Glad to help, thank you for watching, and thank you for the comment.
Just what I needed. Thanks for the info.
You are very welcome and thank you for watching.

Sometimes it’s the gasket and other times it’s the fill valve also. Let me know how it works out.
My issue is the other end of hose keeps coming off....any fix for that? Is there supposed to be a clip that holds it on?
Sounds like the hose is wore out, I replaced mine. You can get new hoses at Home Depot.
Well Explained!!
Thank you for watching and thank you for the comment
I don't think flushing the toilet will put more pressure on the glued area than the fall it took when the sales clerk dropped the cannister from his grasp while he was handling it.
thank , directions worked !! No problems.
Fantastic I’m glad it helped. I appreciate you watching and sharing

You May want to replace the flush valve, I have a video or two showing the process. ua-cam.com/video/yNtvaL4noU8/v-deo.htmlsi=dny0r-U-VE_21MTB
ua-cam.com/video/Ae4eJYFUpTI/v-deo.htmlsi=cuVc9qGuspjgFNs1
Look at these 2 videos
Every time I flush mine, the canister gets stuck all the way up, and the water continuously fills and never stops. If I just tap it, it falls down easily
I check your handle adjustment, if it looks good I would replace the canister. Thank you for watching and your question.
I have the same problem. How do you adjust handle?
Same problem here
Mine keeps leaking. Won't seal
Thx. This has been 8 years of frustration. Dont like these cannisters.
This was great. Thank you :)
You are very welcome, I hope it made your life easier. Thank you for watching and sharing!
