Any sink tip attached to the Commando head or its commando head straight to leader/tippet? What length leader was the setup? Appreciate advice on the full setup as I’m learning. 😊
Oh love see this video 👍 I don't fish commando for single hand yet but I use the 400gr and Laser line 35lbs to my switch 11.4' and love how it shoot ! I going to try on my 9' 5/6# see how that goes 👌 best regards/Bjorn from Sweden 🇸🇪
Just found this video. Loved it. What is the rod manufacturer? Model? Best style of stick works with this system, singlehanded? Fast, medium, medium fast?
I think he was using an older Sage rod in the video. I think any rod in the medium to fast range would work just fine for this style! It's super fun, you should give it a try!
@@ashlandflyshop770 it looks like a lot of fun. I have been away from the art of fly fishing for many years. Looking to get back in. I have a Scott 9 weight SW Heli from back when. I love the rod, but I had to over line it to cast for any length of time. Only the biggest shooting head or over lining to 10 weight for shorter distance accuracies and comfort for a long day in the flats. I wonder what setup would make that rod sing again? I am pretty sure I was the only human that could cast that rod consistently. I’ve had friends borrow it for tarpon and bones, they came back hating it because of the learning curve. If you can tame the beat it is a great stick for getting a heavy fly out a long, long, long way. I would love to make it a big pike, musky, salmon/steelhead rig
What rod in the 10 foot 3wt would be good with the commando ? There are so many choices. A lot of rods in that wt and length are euro nymph rods, not sure if that is what your using?
The guy asking the questions, yeah, he shouldn’t do that. His first question is just plain stupid, and he’s just not good at being an interviewer. I don’t know why he couldn’t have simply asked, “tell us about the development of the commando head? What problem was it meant to solve?” and let the gentleman answer it.
What do you recommend for Cortland 8ft 8/9 weight rod? what grain and length do you recommend please? Having a ton of trouble casting effortlessly even though I practiced spey casting.

single hand spey just like spey fishing with the running line or attach the shooting head to your backing only
I just purchased a 5wt 10'0" switch rod. What size head and length do I use?
If you're looking for a commando head you're going to want to get the 225gr head.

This is a little tricky to suggest without a discussion. I do think the Commando heads are a good choice for single hand rods 👍👍
