heyhey thanks a lot for watching! Due to my inability to plan anything beforehand properly, I've extended the print run until 14th of February! All of these photos are from the Northwest Passage, check them out at art.alluringarctic.com - only available until 14th of February 2025!
I think the next video will be the last one from the NWP...
Kiitos taas 😊
You should wear glasses when grinding special when you are out there in the nowhere

That's a pretty modest claim about being unable to properly plan anything beforehand, says the man who safely sailed through the Northwest Passage. :) :)
can i have one with polar bears, if it is possible I will be very happy
Don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re an amazing planner (and captain and producer etc etc) but if you ever find yourself needing crew or help with anything I’m sure there are plenty of people who are happy to help - I’m one of them for sure.
Greatest advice anyone could ever give.. "all that remains is to just not fuck up" 19:25
My high school teacher told us 50 years ago, "You guys are too cynical, especially you Will." So I made a book, The Politics of Cynicism. Summed up, basically, if you're always looking for the problems, avoid, fix, and get past them, everything after is pretty good. It definitely works on sailboats. Juho's "All that remains is to just not fuck up" would look much better on a t-shirt.
Terrific video. Brilliant spinnaker boom fix.

@@WillN2Go1 I prefer enjoying the moment.
“Trying not toTitanic”… love your sense of humor! 😊
Denmark had a ferry named Tycho Brahe. The man, who was famed for being incredible unlucky, his entire observatory on a remote island going up in smoke in just one day, with all of his written down observations. Would you believe, that ferry had one of the biggest accidents in Danish waters, which did not end in an actual capsizing?
You’re a great story teller and videographer. Plus an excellent seaman!
As a Canadian, a special thank you for prioritizing the Inuit names over the English ones.
Ahhh, the three bears. Gorgeous.
IMO this is one of if not your best vid. Stunning scenery, great editing and those icebergs and bears... outstanding!
Agreed. The scenery, music and commentary are fantastic.
I am from Canada... and I appreciate you taking me along on the journey exploring my own country. All the best.
Great scenery. You guys will never forget this journey.
I just love how casual this whole series is. Doing a death defying trip “oh the current is ripping at 10 knots this is fine”
Yes, I too am full of admiration and pleasure in what you people are doing. Best wishes from Tasmania Australia, regards, Henry
Maybe that's lost in translation, because operative discussions are in Finnish, but you can hear the use of language changing.
The current wasnt 10 knots, they were cruising at 10 knots with the current, so probably 3-4 knots of current on top of their motoring speed. Still significant!
I'm 67 now, still sailing and still hungy, but I fear I've missed my window to make this epic passage. I've had plenty others though. Watching your adventure gives me the butterflies, thanks.
Oh and....."just don't Fook up" only really sets in after many many, many miles! Im putting that on my tee shirt!
I'm 65 and planning my North West passage in about 2 years time. It's not age that prevents you exploring, it's heart. I hope you get to do it
With some decent crew you can do it.
Stunning scenery and it's nice seeing the two of you being affectionate.
Yes, just so Happy together.
Yes, Sovi’s smile there is so sweet.
Words fail me when I try to express my gratitude for creating these videos for me to watch.
I've read all 200 comments which are just as interesting as the video.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.
Enjoying the series. Sending cash so you can have a drink on me somewhere. Cheers!
Just staggering. I sailed in my 20's, but to do this requires incredible skill and teamwork. The most amazing scenery was with the drone shot of the boat, heeled over with a whopping Berg behind. THAT is living.
Awesome drone shots at 26:00 minutes...WOW! What a place! Seriously wild!...Cheers!
That’s so cool you met up with Randal! He used to be our dock neighbor! We miss him a bunch, but happy to see he’s staying cool 🥶 in his happy place.
Captain Juho, you are the greatest sailor I have ever seen. My heart longs to crew on Lumi. Thank you for your beautiful documentary- it is the next best thing to taking a watch on your ship.
Polar bears have an incredible sense of smell and with their noses in the air they were simply reading the local newspaper to determine whats going on. Always remember that Polar bears love people, breakfast, lunch or dinner, it doesn’t matter. Absolutely love your videos. Enjoyed the lone bear flossing its teeth practicing good hygiene.
Concur, We landed by helicopter in Saglek fjord Labrador one time and the Coast guard helicopter was up by the radar. I asked why they did not park down on the abandon airstrip, and the pilot told me that the Polar Bears kept tearing the doors off trying to get in. it chewed up the seat and tore off the collective control. Said human scent on it, so they land now where they can watch it.
I have to agree. The humble commentary from S/V Lumi of the tree bears is very wise. 🐑🐑🐑.
Sovhi, the master of all trades, talent and beauty - and anchor boss ❤😊
¡Gracias! I know nothing about sailing, live in tropical weather but I enjoy watching your adventures tremendously. Thanks for sharing
Incredible videography!!
Tack!
Adventure of a lifetime. Congratulations on your bravery and perseverance. Stay safe.
Great video work. One of my fav channels. My understanding of the Arctic and the NWP is one of a harsh cold windswept environment, so it is rather surprising to see how gorgeous and sunny good weather can be up there.
29:17 What a place! The isolation and beauty of the location must feel amazing! No roads, no buildings, no airplanes, no sound, peaceful.
I so look forward to your videos. What an amazing adventure.
Your drone shots, especially starting at 18:00 are absolutely stunning. You have the best drone sailing footage out there. You guys rock-what an adventure!!
I remember my first trip from Murmansk to Japan across the Arctic Ocean, it was romantically enthusiastic for the first vessel trip in my life, rejoicing at scraping ice from the lids of the holds and photographing polar bears. By the end of the way back, it was just a white, cold life every day, like Kai's heart. Thank you guys for the awesome videos, have a safe journey!
Truly once in a lifetime passage! We all are thrilled for you all and can't extended our appreciation with your documentary. It's so nice to see Lumi and Sophie enjoying their passage together,
Breathtaking photography and ingenious repair to the boom. Loved it all!
You've inspired me to go on little adventures. Just at the weekend, to forget everyday life for a short time.
Awkkkk! Safety glasses or something while drilling metal is a good idea
good point, they do have ski goggles on board.
What a Experience For Anyone To EVER Get The Chance To Do ! WHAT YUN'S ARE GETTING TO EXPERIENCE IS TRULY AMAZING!!!!! I can't Thank Yun's Enough For Shearing This EPIC Adventure With All Of Us !!!!
For the OVNI crushed, several boats turned back that year because the Canadian coast guards discouraged the boats to pass since there was too much ice. The Italians in the OVNI tried while other boats, amongst them a Boreal 55 or 52 from Dominique Vavre, renounced. Fortunately no one were injured, but the OVNI got caught by the pack after a wind shift that drifted the pack toward it.
The story was counted to us by Boréal, while we were in Tréguier to follow the assembly of our boat. Hope it’s accurate…
Beautiful images as always.
As a fellow amateur musician, I appreciate your efforts at the vocals for the Northmost tack, just like downtown at a Chicago nightclub you guys nailed it. Thank you. Was that an Abba tune? I love Abba. 🐻❄ Oh and on behalf of the children -Can I thank you the Libertaire mom and dad for taking us to cool places. Yay !! Hah they must be having the time of it.
Wow such amazing video footage. Thanks for sharing another awesome segment of your NW passage. You're doing a great job Juho. I look forward to the final installment.
The fitting of your pool brakes because when you use your spinnaker or even when you use it with your Genoa, you didn't put the pool horizontally and it makes a pressure with an angle and that's why it brakes.
Always put your poll horizontal when using it and you will catch more wind as well.
Well done
I have been following you for a while and I am so impressed with the quality of your videos and to be able to see a part of Canada that I have never been able to see is fantastic, thanks for all of your postings❤️❤️
My favorite Finns. This is a GREAT channel. Bravo.
Wow the polar bear family was awesome to see at 3:30
One of the best segments in this series, or anywhere that I have seen! 😎✌️
Wonderful and congratulations on this epic voyage. As always, stay well and safe.
Bedankt
Wow amazing video and scenery, I loved the "don't f$$k ups" maybe you should do a t-shirt with that on!
I sailed through Navy Board Inlet to Pond Inlet fifty years ago (I was young). A breathtaking place I've always remembered from my own Arctic travels. It was a real treat to see your footage of both places. Pond Inlet's become a big town! I remember the Pond Inlet people as very welcoming. Navy Board Inlet looks much the same. One feels tiny there. Thanks for your posts. They're always fascinating. All the best to you and your crew.
Land locked anchorages are as rare as gold and sometimes more precious. Exceptional videos…… Thank You.
Enjoyed your passage; As a former member of the RCAF, I spent many hrs patrolling the NWP, Western Greenland and the Davis Straits. Your drone footage has brought back some fond memories for me, as the pilots usually investigate many of those anchorages low level. Surprisingly there is a large number of sail boats, that make that voyage annually, as there is only a short navigational window for small boats. You should leave your boat in Greenland, and do Newfoundland and Eastern N.A. next, as after Iceland the Baltic is boring. I suppose you can go as far as Spain, in a parade of sails? But as for the Barbary coast of Africa, I stay and take my chances with the polar bears Lol. Cheer's H
As far as plans, I think they have a lot of latitude.
@@DrDavidThorD'oh! 😄
Yes, a circumnavigation of Newfoundland would make for a good time. Still plenty of unpopulated fjords and harbours but also plenty of places to stop for a drink! haha
@harryyoung7076 They got to Greenland mid-September to overwinter. Dunno if boat only or them too. This footage is from Aug 2024.
I am so happy to see her so happy, finally breaking out of the discipline necessary to complete the doctoral dissertation.
I've just set the pizza dough aside. It will be ready in about 2 hours. Pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, and onions. Then take a walk in the forest... there is something about the aroma of fresh bread cooking in a wood fired oven that cheers me up. Watching your videos makes my cozy cabin complete somehow, could be the ice bergs...
Another point. Bellot Strait is a "polynya" This is a fast tidal area that does not freeze in the winter because of fast moving water. This is where you will find walrus narwhales and polar bears in the winter.
Thank you so much for these videos. These is no other content like yours (I say that in a good way). We are able to sail this route with you because of your hard work. You remind me so much of a multihull sailor and builder who I had the privilege to know and sail with many years ago, his name was Walter Greene. Again thank you so much for sharing this adventure with us!
Some of the most beautiful sailing and nature content I've seen. The amount of ads is a bit excessive though. Safe sailing!
Kiitos! One of the few UA-cam series that has kept me anxiously awaiting the next episode! 😎✌️
Thank you for sharing your amazing voyage though the North West passage on you tube' and showing all the complexities of Artic sailing, it seems a delicate balance of adventure and potential disaster is constantly hanging in the air !! 😀
'Proper job' you guys 😉👍
Absolutely great footage of the polar bears - beautiful and scary creatures.
Another very beautiful video. Thanks you for sharing.
FANTASTIC! See the stress on everyones faces. I hope that Juho managed to enjoy/appreciate things as they happen, not just through the amazing video.
Great video again, don't go too fast, I'll miss you once you are done.
Had that sailing call for a long time, but age caught on me and when I finally got my sailboat it was no longer time for me to get experienced enough on my own and I didn't have the proper friends to do what I wanted to do with the boat. Sad to say, but you clearly show me what I have missed.
At now 69 I am still healty but I am not good enough as a sailor to do this on my own.
Love to share your journey trough your videos.
Thanks for sharing.
Be safe!
@@michelrushdy1262 there's groups of people looking for other sailors! You can totally get a crew together.
The drone footage at 2:10 would make an amazing picture
Hei, taas uusi mielenkiintoinen video, kippis to LUMI vene ja sen porukka ! Late 1970's, Vancouver, BC, I met and I believe that he was very first single handed Dutch boat comin from East to West by NW Passage.
An absolutely beautiful part of the World, thank you for showing us.
The so called "Danish Titanic" happened in 1959. Supposedly the last maritime loss of life attributed to icebergs. The vessel was called the Hans Hedtoft, a combined passenger/cargo steamer. It sank on its maiden voyage from Denmark to Greenland on the return leg off Cape Farewell. The only thing found was a life ring near Iceland well after the sinking. Such a tragedy and sadly all but forgotten.
22:45 that is stressing me out man. 😂
As usual. Just amazing video. I was just saying to my wife. Of all the sailing videos that I watched, this is the best! I have cruised tens of thousands of miles, but nothing even close to this.
Such beautiful scenery, and so raw. Really a case of don't screw up. I'm so enjoying this series!
Thanks! Another great video!!☺
Drone footage is outstanding!
Truly incredible shots especially with the drone, you are clearly very talented.
I love following your adventures. You all have such a great sense of humour. Those bears were just so beautiful. I am jealous that I will probably never get to experience this firsthand, but so grateful I can live vicariously through your videos.
Wow. 29:39 and on would make some awesome art prints. Also, those polar bears with their noses up probably trying to sniff if you are food or not. Crazy. Also, the NWP playlist is in reverse. Newcomers wanting to binge watch are going to see it from finish to start. :D
Ditto, I agree! Please offer a polar bear print. Thank you for all your efforts with filming, editing, and planning out camera placement, etc. This has been an epic journey. Also appreciate how respectful you are of the environment, the wildlife, and the communities you visit. We need more people like you in this world. So very happy you all made it safely through this trip. Always a pleasure to get an upload notification from you.
What an amazing video capture at 30:11. There is a story within that scene.
The boat is sailing away without them!😂
I know about this couple who sail their boat through the mountains, anchor out, climb up the steep sloaps, ski, and snowboard down. That's what they like to do. Have you ever heard of such an interestiing , and adventurous couple?
Don't forget bathing in the Arctic Ocean.
Absolutely fascinating. Been following for quite some time…what an adventure. Thank you so much for sharing!!!😊
Best wishes. Safe travels.
Another stunning quality video, thank you.
Wow again. The videos and the footage you deliver is amazing. Some times looking videos on youtube i tend to fast forward, but in yours i dont want to lose a second. Hat of and by the time i see this i hope you are safe and sound. 😊
Fantastic journey, fantastic presentation. Cheers.
Thanks
Once again amazing amazing footage of your passage in mainly uncharted waters !!
Well done crew .. it looks like you have smashed it .. well done
👏
Juho, great update! Thank you! I was wondering if you could post the messages you post on FB and Instagram on UA-cam as well? It's become almost impossible to see posts on FB or Instagram without an account. And to open one now ... well, not so tempting!
Loved the part where Sohvi put her head lovingly on your shoulder and you had a big smile😋💞... and also the part where you said "not fuck up"😂
Wow! The superlatives are just not enough for what you have/are achieving. So thank you so much for sharing the beauty, the landscape, your skills and the challenge with us. I salute you.
Wow, just amazing! I've been following the northwest passage vids. You guys are my heroes! Safe journeys and good weather!
Very nice boat - very good crew - best sailing channel I know about - Thank you
You have brought one of the most elusive and isolated parts of the world to so many followers and subscribers. How does it feel to speak to 90,000 people at once? I am too old for this now but if I had my time again I would attempt it. I do not know what your next adventure is but surely Spitsbergen and Bear Island would be amongst them?
Your so generous! Sharing your experience and all. We are in the middle of refitting our catamaran and can't wait to start our adventure as well!.
Severance, game of thrones, alluring arctic - the three episodics I’ve most looked forward to
Helt underbar resa !! Tänk vad dessa barn ska få med sig i livet ❤! Tack för alla filmer och att vi ficka följa med 🤩 ! Hoppas på flera äventyr ?
Wow, the video work is amazing. The icebergs take my breath away! The only thing close, that I know of, is Parley. Congratulations on the passage!
It's like a real-life Voyage of the Dawn Treader at times! Magical, scary, adventurous. Love it.
your Videos are the only ones i watch in fullscreen-mode
Just wow, incredibly beautiful. Thank you so much for doing this for us all to see.
I am so sad to hear there is only one episode left. However we do have Nova to look forward to 😊
Stunning video and editing ❤
I really enjoyed this weeks video, you guy's are amazing. The picture I really want to buy is from last year, the one where your tied to the trees up a little river inlet, hopefully you have another similar one taken in your frozen anchorage in Greenland 👍
Strap mostly empty water bottles to drone to avoid sinking it👍🏼👍🏼✌🏻👋🏼😊

I love this North West passage series. Thank you
Where can I buy music that you used?
Wonderful, always a joy to watch, and the scenery WOW!!. Loved the polar bears, at a distance. Best to all. Ryn.
