We know we've said this before BUT you really have to cover your arse when working. We got lucky in this instance because we took video of all the damaged parts ... its easy to forget sometimes. Do you take photos and videos of your work to show customers? Especially if the customers are not present. How many times have you cleaned up another persons mess?

@@WillFixThat I know the last few years I was in business. I took a lot of pictures on my cell phone and some videos . I had a major company sue me for saying they were ripping some of my clients off. I had three clients as my regulars and they tried to sell them service plans so they came out to check their units, and write up their plan and they clipped or cut thermostat wires going through the wall to the AC units ,loosened freon line caps and valves stems so the Freon would leak out slowly in the winter. So in the summer, the units would not start up on all three of those clients and they called me instead of that company when their units would not start. That’s when R22 was starting to skyrocket in price .So when we went to court with the pictures and video of all three customers and I counter sued and we all won a substantial amount of money to cover court cost repair all the damage that company was not happy with the judge or us

I am a retired crane inspector. My camera was the most important tool I had. Not only to document what I found for the reports, but to give to the customer to show exactly what problems I found. It also made it impossible for a customer to deny that I had reported the damage. On one 2 month job at Lazy B, I took over 15000 pictures of crane rails and the damages. When the customers engineers asked about something, we were able to tell them to get the DVD and look at the spot in question.

Done plenty of work on boats as well but specialize in all the interfaces and software needed to connect to all the new boats just like the cars to Diag, program modules and code options. High concentration of aluminum in oil sample on a marine Cummins is in most cases caused by deteriorated aftercooler cooling fins. Check your aftercooler maintenance and replace the cores when they leak or get deteriorated by salty air. Peter.

Caught your channel by chance. Let me recommned a couple of things.
When you do a job you should
Do a excel sheet that outlines cost, total time, and insurance coverage and finally at the end of each video add a helpful tip to owners of the boat that you noticed on the boat that either needs looked at or stuff is fine.

I take tons of pictures and videos! I see the port of call of Chattanooga on the stern of that boat, we get folks that are new to saltwater boating, and they do not understand that the level of maintenance with every system goes up exponentially! I've seen 20-year-old boats that have never had the after coolers or seawater heat exchangers apart. Then, and after cooler will leak and put salt water into the engine which is just a death sentence in the cylinders.

Hey Matt, high aluminum is usually a piston issue, but on both engines? Could be an intake / induction system issue as well.
Aluminum oxides from the turbo / intercooler and believe it or not.... faulty air cleaners ( that's a longer story, lol ).
Poor oil performance and excessive heat during operation leading to scuffing have been documented.
Does the boat have EGT ( Exhaust Gas Temperature ) gauges?.....Hmmmm...good luck, and keep up the great content.

High levels of aluminum in a Cummins oil sample can indicate excessive engine wear, but there are other possible causes:
    Cylinder corrosion
If cylinders are corroded, the aluminum piston pin plugs may scrape against the rough cylinder walls, increasing the aluminum levels in the oil.
    Dirt entry
Dirt entering the engine through the air intake system can cause abnormal wear on the liners, pistons, and rings, which are made of aluminum, iron, and chromium. This can also lead to increased silicon levels in the oil.
    Activated alumina acid scavenging systems
Aluminum may appear in the oil, especially after installing a new set of cartridges, along with sodium. This may also be accompanied by an increase in particle
