Nice! I learned to work on outboards recently from a Johnson 15HP aswell, great motors, mine is a 1997. Needed a backyard rebuild due to being sized but I just pulled the engine covers off including the head and cleaned the cylinder bores with scotch bright and used gasket goo with the old head gasket and it’s good as new, runs great and starts everytime

I bought exact oem parts and have had no problems after I did it myself. Oh and he kept pushing back my turnaround for over 6 months until I threatened to pick it up out of his yard. I reconditioned marine engines/power heads and drives(machine shop) during the winter for the spring... had a tractor with a modified 3 point Hitch to carry two large outboards into a 200 gallon test tank with dyno machines.... had all the local salvage yards put aside all marine engines and drives... I rebuilt alot of engines for other marine dealers... im old and retired now.

Always great to see old items get new life. Too many people just buy new and toss a perfectly good items in the trash. Such a waste.
Might want to put a few of those mats that absorb oil but not water under the engines when you work on them. You don’t want to get the ground oily and greasy as it tracks that stuff everywhere. The oil also might enter the ground water if you have a well. A few of those mats will help greatly and they keep working when wet with water. Thanks for sharing, very interesting.

Also it would be good to know what are all the ways that you acquire boats and motors and how other people can do that too. You can make video course, ebook, or something to document this so you can just have it available to give to people as a lead gen tool.
