So tragic what happened to Festo, but it’s so heartwarming to see him drawing the host even though he had basically no hands and no vision. Such a talented boy!
It's amazing how widespread this belief in magic is. I taught a student fresh from Malawi, and one day he told me that he loved being the US because he was able to show that he was smart without worrying. I told him that I was glad that he was happy here, but I was confused - why worry? He told me that in his home town if a student was very smart then they either were accused of having used witchcraft to steal their intelligence from other people (i.e. blamed for someone's mental disabilities) or a witch would try to steal their intelligence using magic. He then said, 100% serious, "It's great - Americans don't know how to do the magic."
@@thegarge7476 Often, but certainly not always. There are plenty of occult paths that are practiced in the US that aren’t tied to new age appropriation.
@@ashleyhearts8561 witchcraft is real and it does work. Its just not as these people make it look like, you cant put a spell on someone who didnt allow the spell to work on him. There are witches who sleep with animals in the US and some who practice psychotheraphy with the help of their demon or drugs. Its not like its a secret or anything, people just dont want to explore the reason behind these issues, most people still believe hypnose is not real. I would never go to a witch or vote for a party that has witches on the higher echelons. Stay holy and seek the Spirit above all spirits, gets you and your children blessed. As a Tanzanian, I have to say that is one of the horrors about my nation that I truly hope will stop. This guy really did the documentary well, and represented the country in a fair light. And I like how he didn’t just say that this happens in Tanzania only. That’s the stereotype most documentaries with this subject like to portray. In Congo, malawi, and Uganda it happens too. As well as other African countries too. I like how he made the point to point out that reducing demand will reduce the motivation for people to supply albino parts.
You're right !! Even in Mali, Senegal.. my aunt has albinism, when she was a little girl she had to leave Mali to live happily in France, her life was threatened every single day... This shit has to stop !!
Gaïa I agree 100%. As long as we hold on to illogical superstitions in Africa, we won’t progress as a continent. We of all people should understand the tragedy in the devaluing of lives, that’s the legacy of what was a great part of our modern history. Now to see that we can then find divisions amongst ourselves is simply disappointing. It just should not have started in the first place.
But we learn that those doing the killing in Malawi are coming from Tanzania. Its likely the same trouble makers traveljng from Tanzania to the other African countries within the region. In West Africa, Ghana, no such thing happens. So its on you Tanzania.
after the whole heaviness of the rest of the documentary- seeing the couple with an albino child in their digilent and loving care... it gave me sense of relief. this entire situation of superstition is sickening and horrible, but the parents, family members, and authoritative figures that actively help aid albino people are truly kind.

You can clearly see how traumatized that 15 year old boy Fester is, and what a brave and talented young man he is.
@@damnskippy7220 African people with albinism are black people! Their unusual skin color is only the result of a combination of genes ... both parents must have these genes, otherwise there will be no albino children. The possibility that two normal-looking parents will have an albino child (if both have these genes) is 1: 4. With such a high rate of people with albinism in the Tanzanian population, it can be assumed that a large number of people carry these genes. It is therefore important to accept that these people with albinism are just another (one of many) color variants that black people can have ... and should therefore be treated as normal like everyone else. They are not aliens or anything like that ! They are humans and part of society! .... and they arise from the genetic variations of the respective population. In addition, it is important to uncover the machinations of people without scruples, who enrich themselves at the expense of the suffering or death of other people, on the basis of an old superstition. And yes, in other African countries it also affects children with dark skin tone, who are simply stolen by so-called witch doctors because it is said that it is lucky to put parts of the body of children in the foundation of a newly built house. Because such sick people don't care what skin color someone is, they just want to make money! This is definitely also worth a second documentary .... to expose the machinations of this child trafficking .... and thus denounce these witch doctors and the buyers of these human body parts .... and educate people how wrong that is. For that, you sometimes have to put your finger directly into the wound ... so that we cry out in horror in our hearts ... the same applies if children were actually fed to crocodiles as you say ... Children are most precious to us, in every country, no matter where we live or what skin color we have ... It is not for nothing that all children are related to all people in the world, as the saying goes ... normal people think that way .... But there are some people who are simply sick in their heads in their greed for money .... and that makes them evil in their hearts .... By the way, not only in Africa, you can find such people everywhere . To show how abnormally they act destroys their business!
Growing up with albinism, I didn't face any bullying because of my family being Caucasian and living in the US. It breaks my heart knowing that people are being killed for something they cannot control. My heart goes out to these people. They do not deserve the constant fear and target on their backs.
@frank white it not racism cause they don't hate albino people, their are just some Africains who have believe albino people are special have powers so in messed up sense they worship them and they think they can gain that power by killing them and or consuming them, so not racist just a fucked up sense ideology.

Eugenia albinos live in most africa unbothered there are always little pockets of the region where they are persecuted. I live in the Uk , ginger kids are being beaten regularly .
I'm redheaded myself but I'm from Ireland. Ireland has the highest density of redheads yet we still get abuse. Ignorant & hateful people will never change.
Eugenia, it seems so superstitious still there. Have they stopped the belief that having sex with a virgin will stop AIDS? Or got in under control more? Must be so hard to be even a little different there. My prayers are with your country. God bless.
It’s absolutely shocking and inhumane to the extent of what they did to this child! So heartbreaking to know that these things are occurring in Tanzania. These witch doctors are awful and they should be hunter down! Hats off to the Doctor for the reporting in this documentary of these atrocities. It’s overwhelming to know that there are people in the world with these mentality.
It was more shocking to see that prisoners who have killed live in better conditions than those pore kids who are forced to live in a prison-like environment to avoid being killed. That's just devastating to see. It should be the other way around. Prisoners had even a football field, but them kids did not even have toys.
Different countries... different politics, and Malawi didn't have as much of the problem except that those killers escaping from Tanzania took their belief with them..
@Draxagon Humans do the same and worse things to animals, even by consuming animal products you support that. If we stop calling evil people humans, then you have to do the same for almost 100% of all people. Humanity is usually evil, so I see nothing wrong with that term.

There’s plenty of witches in America. In fact there are stores that sell witchcraft paraphernalia.

There are witches who sleep with animals in the US and some who practice psychotheraphy with the help of their demon or drugs. Its not like its a secret or anything, people just dont want to explore the reason behind these issues, most people still believe hypnose is not real.

Black babies were ised for alligator bait on the sputh.

I'm redheaded myself but I'm from Ireland. Ireland has the highest density of redheads yet we still get abuse.
Ignorant & hateful people will never change.
Eugenia Nyekan Very likely definitely been murdered because they have no pigment in there skin not the their fault . It is there genes.
14:42 - broke my heart. I started to cry. Poor kid and he's so scared. He won't even look up.
I am so angry about what they did to festo, that I burst into tears. I wish I could really do something, but what?
Pamela Boyd we can just teach people about albinism, so they don’t get bullied but honestly me neither. Sry, I’m also very sad
It's crazy how people can hurt a child their so young so beautiful and pure ugh
It was more shocking to see that prisoners who have killed live in better conditions than those pore kids who are forced to live in a prison-like environment to avoid being killed. That's just devastating to see. It should be the other way around.
Prisoners had even a football field, but them kids did not even have toys.
i dont think they prisoners are let out of the cell much
Different countries... different politics, and Malawi didn't have as much of the problem except that those killers escaping from Tanzania took their belief with them..
The interview happened in an administrative building because the government didn't want them to film the cells. Who knows what they're like.
The moment the boy grab the pencil, I started to cry so hard, I cant believe how evil a "person" can be to harm a little boy
@M I really hope you also do what you preach and don't just virtue signal on the internet lol
He would have difficult future anyway, then they made him disabled, so he will struggle even more. That is so unfair.
@@Star-Bubbles123 well I don’t think he’s cutting off fingers of little kids so...
@Draxagon Humans do the same and worse things to animals, even by consuming animal products you support that. If we stop calling evil people humans, then you have to do the same for almost 100% of all people.
Humanity is usually evil, so I see nothing wrong with that term.
That 15 year old boy... wow. Just wow. I have no words. What a beautiful child.
This is how a documentary should be, the reporter knows the struggle and how it feels, like someone with autism could interview an autistic person way better
Lol, yeah, ok
This guy
How about let anyone interview and if theres a problem go do something about it ?
ok but, albinism isn't a mental illness like autism so it's not quite the same.
Only that the process of interviewing someone is very hard and/or uncomfortable for most people with autism
I wish he could see more of the first young man. They bonded so well.
This is so kind and beautiful, fr💕
The guy who handled the documentary is just superb, wholesome and handsome too
The way he talks to the kids is so nice
This is so sad, it's not their fault that they were born this way. My heart bleeds for that poor boy! 😢
