- My Honda navi gps system keeps getting stuck in an endless reboot cycle. Occasionally the maps will load but a few minutes later it will continue to reboot endlessly.

A similar endless Re-Boot thing happend with my 2005 Acura TSX for about 2 months. Then suddenly one morning when I started my car, the Navigation system automatically started doing a download wirelessly. Message on the screen told me NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR NOW, Keep the engine running, stay away from Underground parking, and not to turn it off. In 4 minutes, it Updated the software by itself, and later everything worked perfect. A Software update was needed. I realized that only after the system automatically did it. Thank God for that.
I get that software download message every time I start my 2004 Honda V-6 coupe now. And then the Navigation Page gets stuck. And sometimes after the software downloading message goes away, I have to re-enter my NAV code, which I do. But nothing helps. It’s a pain, but at least my Auto AC still works. And the radio. But my screen either shows the NAV message or goes blank. So anything I used to be able to use the screen for, I now no longer can. Saving for a new car.
Before pulling things off and out of the car check the disc itself first, looking for a ring around the edge.
This is laser burn and is known dramatically by gamers as The Ring of Death.
You can either take it to a games shop and ask if they'll polish the disc for you or, and this worked for my own unit, pop it out, clean it with window cleaner and give it two coats of resin car polish, using either cotton wool or some other soft material to buff the disc.
Concentrate on the ring and use quite firm pressure without actually damaging the disc.
Worst case scenario I'd pop it to a Honda dealer and ask them to allow you to use a working disc just to make sure it isn't the disc causing the problem.
I am having the same issue with my Honda Accord 2005. First, navigation system voice direction sounded like cracked speakers and constant reboot. I took it to my dealer, he said the problem is with the DVD player in the trunk. Which need to be repaired or replaced.

Correction on Alpine address. It's "Abalone" Ave, not "Abalony." Great tip though. Sent mine in Sat. I have no doubt they can fix it - will let you know if I can reinstall it!
@elaverdure When I sent it in to Alpine, they said there were about 3 or 4 parts that needed to be replaced. I think $150 is a fair price for parts and labor, considering the alternative. I have not found any 3rd option. Take care!

You need to clean the lens in the DVD drive - there are instructions on UA-cam how to do this - it's a pain because you have to take most of the dash central part out to get at the drive but it will solve the problem.
Navigation code is under the hood in the fuse box. Should be a 4 digit number.
I just sent had my navigation system taken out of my dashboard and sent to Alpine. I'll let you know if they fix it. I didn't stop to think that it may be the dvd unit in the trunk of the car! Uggh. But I sent them the dashboard unit because the heat went out on it too.
Anyone else have that problem as well? I just ordered the new map.
Do you still have this car? I'm having the same problem. At one point it would go to the screen where I could push okay, which would have every 4 months or so. But it would not stay on for long.
@jdeepkumar well if u have tinted windows you can thank your tinted window installer. water flos down into unit where it corrodes your solder joints.
The Navigation Door is stuck open on my 2007 Honda Si. There is no CD in the player and the Navigation DVD is properly installed. How do I close the Display door? As much as I like the radio being stuck on the teeniebopper station I need to change it before someone gets hurt. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
If you have the code press and hold map/guide menu and cancel at the same time then you will go to the system diagnosis items after you go to enter by location keep holding them down until you get to system diagnosis items then go to unit check after that click on navi ecu and press clear memory press yes for clear sram memory and enter the radio code that will fix it but delete all your old addresses that where saved.

mines did the same thing, and now it just says, "please check disc", nothing is wrong with the disc. No scratches, nothing, I refuse to spend, $4,000 to change out the whole unit and it was working when I go the car. Can somebody tell me what the (pc slot is for) do it suppose to have anything in there. I am trying to see if it was taken out after I got the car, because when I test drove it 2yrs ago when I bought the car it was working. It stopped working when my car decide it needed a timing belt.
+kookie mink Any luck? What happened? I have the same problem and I've had my car since '05. Honda told me to contact a radio repair shop and over the phone they told me that this may be the nav dvd rom unit in the trunk. I called Alpine and they told me to ship it to them they'll call me so that I can pay them $360 or so. I'm shipping tomorrow and I'll let you know what happens.

@germaine p, I looked under the fuse box and I didn't see a code. I looked under the unit and I seen p/n could that be the code.
does anyone know what is wrong with my gps system I have the same exact car and model and gps but with my gps the radio does not work when you touch certain buttons and the screen flashes black and white when the car is on.. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP. i bought a warranty when i bought the used car but the warranty company is not helping me at all I need a plan B to fix it myself!!
I have the same problem! Try this unhook the DVD drive and leave it for a while. Then hook it back up. Hopefully work for you. So far it work for me 2 days and counting. Let me know if it work for you

It’s the DVD player in the trunk don’t play the music to lid just happens to me and i fixed It by playing with the wires connected underneath the DVD player take my advice is just work for me Thank God

+Andrew Koszyk I originally posted this video as proof for Alpine. I sent them the link in my case number, and as stated in my video and various comments, they fixed it for me for $150. I had to send them the unit.
I didn't intend this just to trash Honda or Alpine. It was simply for my records and to share with Alpine for technical support. The fact that so many people have searched for this and watched it is simply proof that this is a common issue.

As of 5/14/2012 the price for their repair service went up to $358... because f*** you apparently. For $350+ you can get TOP line of any GPS with maps and lifetime updates... so WTF is wrong with Alpine Tech support?

I called Honda and they referred me to Alpine. I was told to remove the back DVD ROM unit and send it to them, along with a $150 check (the price at the time) and in a couple of weeks they sent it back to me repaired. Hope that helps, and good luck!

there's no part under the seat related to the navigation system. the dvd player is in the trunk, bolted to the top

I use this same type of car, I was emailed 5digits navid code from the following web radio-navicode.honda.com/ but screen is only displaying space for four digit.. I need to know if the Navi code is 4 or 5 digits and what do I do to get the right code.
+Bukola Olayinka.P It's 4 digits. the nav and XM codes are 4 digits. I found my codes by opening my glove compartment and there's a sticker on the outside of the inner side of the glove box door. So if you're setting on the driver seat and open the glove compartment you should be able to see it.

I have the same issue, my battery was changed ages ago and since then I haven't been able to use the navigation system in my 2005 Honda accord. It is in Japanese also. I wanted to change the clock but can't as need the navigation system to work to do this. Does anybody have any ideas? If it used to work i don't see why I have to pay to get it working again, especially if everytime the battery gets replaced the same thing will happen.
The navigation code and radio code are on the inside of the fuse box (underneath the hood). I hope that helps.
I can't leave a waste of my time looking to try to find something to stupid. Things like this should not be on here when you're trying to look for helpful advice to fix things

Take it here rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3373391 burn the disc image on the lowest speed, then take off both + and - from your battery for at least 1 minute (engine must be off), then connect it back, start engine (NAVI will ask a loading disk), insert disc in DVD room, let it download, enjoy. Jim Liang-My 05 Honda Accord-exact thing. Disc is ok. I disconnected negative charge from car battery. Got green bar download to enter code. I know code. Tried entering it turning volume dial & pushing in numbers, it displayed CODE, but stopped there. Did you get anywhere with yours or send it to Alpine?
